It looks slick, has bookmarks search and remembers the last opened folders and scroll position. It is also one of the most keyboard-accessible extensions, with decent WAI-ARIA support. To search bookmarks from the address bar (omnibox), type "* " (asterisk and space). The search character can be changed by going to Chrome > Settings > Search > Manage search engines > Search engines added by extensions (chrome://settings/searchEngines). Many issues can be resolved by uninstalling the extension and then reinstalling after waiting a few seconds. Try this before submitting an issue report. This extension is based on a "safe" version of the original Neat Bookmarks extension. This is NOT the current version of Neat Bookmarks in the Chrome Web Store, which still jacks ads. Neater Bookmarks does NOT contain any adware or malware or perform ad jacking, and it never will! *** Notes *** -Explanation of privileges: -"Access your data on all websites": used so bookmarklets can work properly -"Read and modify your bookmarks": obviously -"Access your tabs and browsing activity": not used at all -This extension does NOT track/use/see any of your data on any websites -Many thanks to Cheeaun, the original developer of Neat Bookmarks! *** Externals *** - Neater Bookmarks is open source! The search function (often) doesn't work. I am gettting the "Oops, an error occurred. This has been reported to the developer" error message. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
Works pretty well, although sometimes can take a while to load. Also you can change the Icon for it but there isn't an apply option and it took like 10 minutes to somehow finagle it to change. Lastly the search feature is a bit lacking, literally. Many named bookmarks did not show up in the search, only a few did. If they could address these complaints, this extension would be top-notch.
A simple extension to add a dropdown list from the icon instead of opening a new tab of my bookmarks and without needing to dock the bookmark bar which ends up taking up more screen space. Its own search function is iffy and doesn't always work. Most times it gets stuck after a search and we can't undo it until we restart Chrome. But now that is a moot point as Chrome has now added another (extensions on/off toggle) permanent tool (show side panel) to instantly add pages to a read later list or to access bookmarks. Selecting the Bookmark tab will always have it open on the bookmarks instead of the reading later page. So now we're being forced to take on yet another permanently docked launcher, it makes keeping Neator Bookmarks pointless. Odd, is it just me or do I notice both Windows and Chrome moving in the direction of Apple by forcing its permanent changes to its sheeple?
