The search function (often) doesn't work. I am gettting the "Oops, an error occurred. This has been reported to the developer" error message. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Works pretty well, although sometimes can take a while to load. Also you can change the Icon for it but there isn't an apply option and it took like 10 minutes to somehow finagle it to change. Lastly the search feature is a bit lacking, literally. Many named bookmarks did not show up in the search, only a few did. If they could address these complaints, this extension would be top-notch.

A simple extension to add a dropdown list from the icon instead of opening a new tab of my bookmarks and without needing to dock the bookmark bar which ends up taking up more screen space. Its own search function is iffy and doesn't always work. Most times it gets stuck after a search and we can't undo it until we restart Chrome. But now that is a moot point as Chrome has now added another (extensions on/off toggle) permanent tool (show side panel) to instantly add pages to a read later list or to access bookmarks. Selecting the Bookmark tab will always have it open on the bookmarks instead of the reading later page. So now we're being forced to take on yet another permanently docked launcher, it makes keeping Neator Bookmarks pointless. Odd, is it just me or do I notice both Windows and Chrome moving in the direction of Apple by forcing its permanent changes to its sheeple?

This is an outstanding extension. It does throw errors, in few use cases and you need to figure out the workaround, but despite that this extension is amazing. That it keeps the list of Bookmarks open even after a transaction is a reason in itself for a 5 star rating. I browsed and browsed, even ended up downloading an exploit extension, but could not find find another Bookmark manager, like this. Very helpful extension.

Great simple extension, but would be even better if it showed bookmarks not already in a folder into an "ungrouped" folder on the extension

The best bookmark menu I ever saw. Custom styles is the best feature. The small (tiny) shortage - 530px looks to me too few for height on big screen - It would be fine to have resizing option for height too, I would preffer 1000px or even more. Assume, this limitation comes from Chrome. Good job, Evan Shultz!

Love this extension until their latest update, the reason I started to use this extension was to avoid the default chrome Pop up "Are you sure you want to open X tabs?" when I middle click a folder. I work in IT and have a lot of sites to check, YES I want to open all pages. Now that this popup has been added to Neater Bookmarks I might as well just use default chrome bookmarks

What i like - fast and nested - it wont close when i click on a particular URL, so i can choose multiple url to open - clean What need to be improve - able to open all the URL even under the subfolder or sub-subfolder. This will be a great help for me to open everything under a categories foldre where i got a lot of subfolder doing subcategoring of the url. if the author willing to do this, i will sure to donate to this app.

I miss the feature that the Bookmarks-List gets filtered while characters are typed into the seach box, so that only matching items gets displayed. Additionally, Bookmarks with an empty title (so that just the icon is displayed in the Bookmarks bar) are handled bad: they should be found by names in the URL and they should be remioved from the list if there is no match in the search textbox.

Zoom setting only works at 10% granularities. Setting to 125% gives the same zoom of fonts in the popup menu as do 120% to 129%. For me, 120% is a bit small and 130% is a bit large, so I wanted to use 125% but this extension uses increments of 10%. Middle-click on a bookmark is supposed to load it in a new tab. No, what actually happens is this extensions opens *TWO* new tabs for the middle-clicked bookmark. If the middle-click option is set to open the bookmark in a new tab, nope, the bookmark opens in a foreground tab (and loads in 2 new tabs). The author must have some duplicate code on the middle-click event that results in loading 2 new tabs instead of 1, and missing code to allow loading the new tabs in the background (I prefer foreground loading, but this option should obey its description). Since middle-clicking is not working (open 2 tabs instead of 1, not loading in background if configured that way), I had to enable the left-click option to load the bookmark in a new tab (instead of into the current tab) and forego using middle-clicking of bookmarks presented in this extensions dialog. The option to keep open the popup (this extension's dialog showing the list of bookmarks) does not work. When I click on a bookmark in its list, the popup disappears. That means I cannot open several bookmarks from its popup list. I have to select a bookmark, a new tab loads and the popup list disappears, and I have to click this extension's toolbar button again to get at another bookmark. Yes, I can middle-click on a folder to load all bookmarks under that folder, but I may only want to open some of them. This extension is broken. Oops, now I see why. It's last update was way back in 2014. Weren't dinosaurs still roaming the planet back then? That is, 5 years is way too long a version cycle for use within a parent program (web browser) that get several versions per year. Obviously this extension has been abandoned. The "home" site it a Github project page, and there haven't been updates to it in 7 years!

Vince Freeman June 15th, 2019

This is kind of a halfway solution to the limited bookmark functionality of Chrome (as opposed to Firefox) and while it does work with maintaining the position your position in the bookmark hierarchy, it's useless for my purposes and you cannot "add new bookmarks" to the list, which is the functionality I really need. For example, I have a set of 75 bookmarks in a folder and I want to drag-n-drop a new site between 71 and 72, then drag another right after it before 72, then drag another one right before 72, etc., etc. - have fun slow-scrolling through Chrome to do that in 10 minutes, and this extension does nothing to solve that.

Very useful and neat way to display bookmarks. But too many issues : 1/ The list's height cannot be resized manually. You have to scroll your bookmarks on a tiny 9 lines window. Width can be resized though. Weird choice. 2/ As I just wrote the height cannot be modified, BUT the list resizes itself to a very tiny 9 lines of bookmarks when at first install there were more lines. It's a bug I reported to the dev. 3/ a Middle click on a Bookmark opens 2 new tabs instead of one. 4/ icons of bookmarked webpages do not appear until we click on each link and visit it once. I installed another extension of this kind : Minimal Bookmarks Tree. And this one does : width/height resizing, middle click and tabs open the way they should, icons for each bookmarked webpage appear instantly after installation. Sadly I moved on to that extension that just work perfectly (so far).

Search is better than Ctrl+Shift+O which opens a new page and cannot be used toinvoke a bookmarlet on current page. Search allows you to use multiple words. Unfortunately cannot invoke a bookmarklet (Javascript) to apply to the current page. In fact can't invoke a bookmarklet at all even if doesn't to refer to the current page. I still give it 5 stars because it can be invoked wihout changing tab and does what you say it does.

Hi Dev, Please add an option to customize the looks of the popup when we click on the icon...Im currently using the "REcent bookmarks" extension by zamtools and the width and height of the popup is perfect...if you can add that it would be great...Also give an option to sort it based on recently added bookmarks...thankyou...hope u add them..

Excellent and neat little utility. I installed a number of other bookmark tools and was surprise that they required me to set up and account or jump through other loops. I suspect that the things I don't like are due to chrome rather than the plugin, but I wanted something that worked like IE's explorer bar. That is, always visible on the left hand side. Having to click an Icon to open the panel before I can click a fav link is a pain. Also when I imported my IE fav's, whilst the tree structure was preserved, the ordering of folders and links within folders was not. What I do like is the search.

I would give this extension all 5 stars, however, the only thing stopping me from doing that is the speed. When I first added the extension to Chrome, it took me awhile to realize it would take a second or two to open when clicked on. I would like it if it would open immediately, like everything else in Chrome. Otherwise, I love how I can organize my bookmarks with the tree view.

Today is like the third time in the last many months that I have had to go in and figure out how ti keep it open when I center button/scroll wheel click on a link. Neater Bookmarks - Avg. ratings should be a full 5-stars. This is a great, free extension (Thanks evan.shultz!) that does not replace the 'other bookmarks' in chrome, but rather it adds the usual extension square above it that can be clicked for a clean, fresh, quick UI that may be customized as seen its overview (left of these comments). Please remove the ability to delete bookmarks through the backspace/delete key only. I was using up/down and then backspace to remove search and start a new one and it started deleting bookmarks. Not too bad for websites but for Bookmarklets it's not good. Problem appears to be in treeKeyUp() where case = 46 // delete. Please consider commenting this out in future versions. Or maybe setting a parameter in options to allow delete by backspace or without warning on delete. Pluses are that you can search bookmarklets and run them. Adding a shortcut for the extension makes it better.

Many features and options it could do with, but at least it's a bookmarks menu I can open with a shortcut & navigate with arrows. If anyone finds a way to with this extension, or any other extension, do the following things could you leave me a reply? I hope I get notifications for replies :/. * A menu that extends full height * A menu that opens on the left side of the screen * A way to remove the "search bookmarks" feature * A way to prevent opening multiple tab warnings on folder middle click

I just bet there is some Google developer somewhere looking at this and saying to himself, "That is what I wanted in the first place." Simple, elegant, works as advertised. Full stop. (edit:) Typed too soon -- search function does not work in sub-folders. ...meh.. still a good extension.

Mysterions September 15th, 2015

I love the fact that it stays open. It is amazing that the "engineers" at Google cannot make this happen. But it does not have the function to create a new folder. I would think this is the first thing you would build into an app, since...duh... that is what a collection of bookmarks are! But, hey, what do I know. Or - the ability to do so is not obvious which is the same thing. Better than Google which does not say much. It seems to be impossible to get a simple bookmark app that is based on common sense??!!!

Very nice, but unfortunately does nothing about the horrendous new bookmarking function the geniuses at google have imposed on us. We are watching computer functionality intentionally driven downward, all for the sake of mobile phones.
