Virus, i never installed this and it causes random popups. Report this app.
Doesn't work with AD Blocker on
Just like everyone else, this extension keeps installing itself on my browser every time Chrome is updated. I have never installed "C&C App" on my browser, either, so it's obvious the developer is a scammer. This is a straight up malware extension. Beware.
Thanks for all feedback and suggestions, we really appreciate it! We are working hard to provide quality software to all users! !! ATTENTION !! Dear All: Scammers, are trying to defame our project by posting negative reviews, spreading false information, spamming the comments section of the Chrome Web Store. Therefore, we ask that you ignore these rumors. All our extensions are 100% free from malware, spyware, and suspicious stuff. Our extensions doesn't collect and/or share personal information with a third parties! It is a FACT!! Privacy policy: https://www.hotcleaner.com/privacy-test-extension-policy.html Google is ending support for Chrome apps for Mac, Windows, and Linux this year. Therefore, we have migrated our "C&C App," that you installed earlier, to the "Privacy Test" browser extension. Nothing is installed or added to your Chrome illegally without your consent. Privacy Test, formerly known as the C&C application, is a small but powerful utility for Chrome and Chromium based web browsers. For feedback, suggestions, issues, whatever, PLEASE contact us using contact form https://www.hotcleaner.com/security-and-privacy-software-feedback.html Thanks for using the Privacy Test browser extension! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HELPFUL INFORMATION --------------------------------------------- 1. Google is ending support for Chrome apps for Mac, Windows, and Linux this year. Therefore, we have migrated our "C&C App," that you installed earlier, to the "Privacy Test". Nothing is illegally installed or added to your Chrome without your consent. A simple thing to install an app or extension you need to click the install button and then confirm. So, you or someone else who have (had) access to your computer or have (had) access to your Google account, maybe it was your family computer or your friend PC or... installed the app (maybe it was even 7 years ago), but anyway someone clicked the install button and then confirmed. 2. We have now migrated "C&C App" to a more powerful "Privacy Test" browser extension with more functionality to provide users with a higher level of security and privacy. No one imposes a new extension on anyone; after the update, the user decides whether to use it or not. Chrome shows all the necessary messages for this. If you don't want to use it just delete it! 3. If you're having issues auto-reinstalling the extension, it's because you have Chrome Sync enabled, which can happen when an app is moved to a browser extension. But in any case, Google provides you with all the tools to solve this issue. A. We will first explain how Chrome Sync works: "Your settings and data are saved to your Google account. When you sign in to Chrome, your Chrome settings on that computer are saved to your Google account. When you sign in to the SAME account on another computer or device, Chrome makes your saved settings available on that computer. Recover your apps, extensions, bookmarks, settings and data, themes, etc." B. Then, if you decide not to use the extension and you have problems with automatic reinstallation, just follow these steps: 1. Go to chrome://settings/syncSetup/advanced and select "Customize sync." 2. Deselect "Apps" or "Extensions" and then remove the extension. After, you can re-enable Apps or Extensions if necessary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ !! ATTENTION !! This extension is already part of hotcleaner's extension so it isn't worth it. Also, hotcleaner collects too much private info like mouse clicks, history, downloads, and keylogging.
This malware keeps installing itself, I never installed it, it won't go away
This thing just keeps re-installing itself. Obviously from the reviews many other are in the same situation. Keep reporting it to Chrome and hopefully this pos extension will get nuked for good.
Same as everyone else. Extension "appeared" out of nowhere. I had never heard of it and did not install "privacy-test" extension. Furthermore, the developer's repeated insistence that all the complaints and objections are "fake news" was a red-flag ?.
Malware keeps reinstalling. Stop it. I never installed this, just keeps showing up every time I start chrome. Every other chrome extension stops installing when removed, why does this one keep coming back?
Extension was not asked for. It appeared in my Extensions list. I don't know who is responsible but this is not a hate review because I know nothing about your extension. I simply did not ask for it and yet it has more than once appeared. If you feel this is defamation then I urge you to find out who is responsible for causing your extension to install itself without user permission and consult Google about it. You seem to care a great deal about what people think.
This extension installed itself without my knowledge. The developer is claiming it's a legit extension, but legit extensions _DO NOT_ do this. Reported and left with a 1-star review.
I did not install this extension
this is spam and keeps reinstalling
This developer is so quick to jump into this review section to explain to anyone and everyone that you are getting this extension added to your Chrome because your Google sync settings are adding it as it's the retooled version of their old program, C&C or Click & Clean. If you had C&C installed it's going to try to reinstall this every time you boot up Chrome. It seems that Chrome is seeing that you had C&C installed, and that it's unavailable now, but this extension is its replacement. It is therefore adding this extension to your browser even after you uninstall it because you have not and, seemingly, cannot choose to opt out of C&C after its removal from the store. The only solution the dev has presented is to completely disable your browser sync settings so this extension literally can't install itself. At best this dev is lazy, defensive, and too stubborn to fix this error that's tanking their reviews and annoying what I imagine to be hundreds if not thousands of people. At worst, this extension is malicious in function and impossible to remove on purpose. If I had to guess, the truth lies somewhere in between, likely a grift for ad dollars based on an exploit of Google's features. I want to make it clear that I never knowingly or willingly installed C&C, and I do not want Privacy Test, you can tell me I did and forgot about it all you want; I didn't. I know what I install and when I install it. As has been encouraged many times on this thread, I encourage anyone reading this review to report this extension to Google, using the provided reason of "I don't know how this item was installed/do not want it."
this seem like a hacking tool. This is getting re-installed again and again. @google, please remove this tool.
this sucks tell us how to get rid of this dev
this app will keep installation itself without you knowing it! very harmfull and aggressive
Why does this keep reinstalling? This is your fault. I will not turn off any sync settings. That is not how it should be done. Find a better way, or you will continue getting reported for abuse. Perhaps had you informed people first, there might not be so much negativity, but automatically installing a new extension with a different name with no other details is always going to get you in trouble. On top of that, reinstalling it every time Chrome starts up makes it looks even more like malware. I understand this extension is legitimate and has it uses, but the way you have forced the switch to the extension is unacceptable.
