I've been using Privacy.com regularly for 2 years now and I find it most useful for managing all my subscription services. Prior to this, I've never felt so in control of knowing where all of my recurring payments are coming from and now I have peace of mind using that same degree of control to approve or discontinue payments at my leisure, all from one website.

If you ever buy anything online, especially from an unfamiliar source, you NEED PRIVACY .COM. Never give up your credit card information again. Create a card with Privacy.com, set the limits for card use and you can manage your risk and still buy cool stuff.

Genuinely a very solid extension

I use this religiously. If you ever sign up for trials with services that make it difficult to cancel, USE PRIVACY and pause the card. Not only that, Privacy helps keep your real card secure and if there's ever a breach you know exactly where it came from and can kill the virtual card immediately. This is a service I use daily, along with the phone app, and handles my payments (and any refunds I may receive) beautifully!

I use it almost every day It is just great I keep telling people about it and they are amazed.

If you're not using Privacy, you're doing life wrong. Don't trust random China drop shippers with your real card info. Use Privacy and have peace of mind that someone in Mongolia isn't going on a spending spree at your expense.

One of the best free services out there. I really can't complain, but It'd be great if I could create cards that can be used at multiple merchants and it isn't obvious when my monthly/daily cards are eligible for another transaction. However, moving all of my online purchases to Privacy was worth the effort.

Great! Works easy and helps me keep my card info safe online and with spend management.

I use this service for most online payments and it's great. With companies losing data all the time, it's a no brainer. There's a hidden benefit that I don't think people realize. If your physical card/debit is lost or stolen, or simply expires, you normally need to go login to every service and update your card information/autopay to the new card. In privacy, you just update the root card and that's it.

This is most likely the single most useful tool for online shopping I've found. Takes the guess work out of who is billing for what due to the notifications you receive when anything is charged. Love this and would recommend.

In the interest of disclosure I use privacy through my Firefox browser. Its been a year and half or so now and no complaints. Its easy to use and other than a slight glitch in getting it loaded and functioning in the beginning I haven't had to contact tech support for help. Definitely get it.

Very solid and invaluable free service, but the app/extension can be excruciatingly slow at times. It can take upwards of minutes just to get it to load a single cards information, even at off-peak hours. Otherwise the service is amazing.

The service itself is amazing, 10 out of 10. The Chrome Extension though is 6 out of 10. It works... kinda. But the form is often broken or not popping up properly, and extension often clashes with other extensions like 1password.

Fantastic, has saved me money from subscriptions changing prices unexpectedly and protected me from being charged fraudulently. I use Privacy on nearly every purchase I make and for sure on every new website I order from.

Great way to protect from data breaches and if you keep being charged for something you declined just delete the card or put it on pause to get the vendors attention. Tallys purchases made to give you an idea where you are spending the most. I was always hesitant about putting my CC online not anymore. I like it a lot!

Easy to use, trustworthy, and helps keep me safe from data breaches. I'm in control of my cards usages - how often it can be used, for what dollar amount, and what company. Home Depot has a data breach? Just delete the card. Or, generate a one-time use card that automatically closes after your purchase. It only takes a couple clicks. I love it and use it quite often, especially for those monthly/annual renewals. Now I'm in control.

Once signup is completed using the service is simple. Creating new virtual debit cards is a snap and having one time single use cards is a must. I use both single transactions on ebay and amazon along with limited spending per month with netflix. The transaction alerts work perfectly as well. I could not ask for a better service for controlling fraud with online spending!

The real deal in privacy and credit card security! Rest assured your information is safe and secure when using this fantastic service. Having had a serious issue with a company who would not return emails where I asked for a refund several times, I contacted the privacy team and they fixed the problem, gave me a refund and followed up with me to ensure that I was truly satisfied. This company is a money saver and a great first line of defense against fraud and abuse.

After getting caught in a scam by making a purchase online where the vendor kept charging me until I cancelled my bank card I started using Privacy and haven't worried about that happening ever again. Creating a quick card for online purchases and then setting a limit for that card gives peace of mind. And having access to it through a Chrome extension or on my smartphone makes it quick and easy to keep myself safe.

I had a couple of vendors that I had signed up for a service and later wanted to cancel it, they just kept charging my credit card until I had to cancel the card completely. With Privacy, I am able to purchase online and cancel when I want. It protects my credit cards and my privacy! Definately worth it!!

Privacy.com has saved me from multiple fraudulent charges over the two years we've been using it for a medium-sized business. It is trivially easy to use and with the Chrome extension a breeze to order things. And I make more on the monthly rebate than it costs per month to use :) Literally a no-brainer. We do so much ordering online this way I don't have to worry about a card getting stolen and used.

I love this service. Really gives me confidence that when shopping online I am protected. I am a victim of identity theft in the past which made me seek out a virtual card service and this one fit the bill perfectly. Getting an e-mail alert on every transaction is wonderful. Also, the spend tracking/graphs are also a really nice touch to help me keep track of my online spending. Also, unlike Paypal, the transactions in my bank statements actually get categorized properly by other spend tracking software like Mint. Overall, really solid service. I do wish the paid tier provided slightly better benefits and I do wish they provided a non-merchant-locked card option so I could use it with GooglePay/ApplePay on-the-go in brick'n'mortar shops too.

If you buy things online (and who doesn't?) why wouldn't you use Privacy? It's free, it's convenient, and it gives you control over who uses your card and how it is used. Once a card is used once, it's locked to that merchant forever - so if it somehow gets lost or stolen, no one else can use it. And you can keep per card limits so that you can't even be abused by the ones who are supposed to have your card. (And one huge thing - if your actual debit card gets misplaced, stolen, or otherwise compromised, you don't have to go through every merchant and update your card numbers with them. You just update your source and you're back in business. It's a great service which I would highly recommend. The extension works great too.

Privacy is a great service for those who interact on the internet and use your credit/debit cards often, and wish you had more control on their use, and the ability to address their misuse immediately without going through a foreign help desk. Easy to set up, easier to use, and some of the best direct support from the Privacy staff when needed, I highly recommend Privacy. And no, it is not just for the Gen X folks, an old dog like me can use without issue. Give it a try, I think you will be delighted.

I love this! Been using it for just under a year and I've created cards for things like doordash, disney+, the macc fund and many more.

I belonged to Citibank in the mid 2000s, and they offered something unique at the time, VIRTUAL CARD NUMBERS. I always thought it was a tremendous convenience to be able to generate a one-time card number during the checkout process, which was linked to your real credit card, thereby avoiding any identity theft issues. Since then, having moved on from CitBank credit, and having switched to debit-only transactions through other banks I have experienced fraudulent activity issues multiple times. Continuing to seek out a virtual card service and remembering that Privacy.com was recommended by several podcasters and Youtubers I frequent, I finally signed up and have not looked back. No issues so far, and though I am using the free plan, if that tier was ever dropped, or if my needs required it I would have no qualms about upgrading to a paid plan

Privacy is great. Signed up but didn't think I'd use the service. It's great for creating a one time card so those companies that require and who try to auto-renew your service won't be able to. Additionally, since I use 1Password, it's all handled and stored within 1Password so I have easy access to it (along with the Privacy site). Nice idea and job on this.

Using private cards is a great way to add a card to an online vendor account, when those vendors have increasingly shown that they cannot protect their accounts from hacks effectively. In the event of a data breach, the hacker will only get hold of my private card, at which point I simply delete it, no need to go through the process of requesting a new card and being assigned new card numbers. It's also very useful to track spending and monitoring vendors who retain your card on file. Love this service!

Protects my cards and lets me know whenever there is a charge. It's like Google Voice for my credit card, just without all the garbage and ui change. It's simple to use with the plugin. Highly recommended.

I was having issues with a vendor I regularly used not protecting my CC info. I couldn't identify which one it was and a friend recommended Privacy. After the initial setup (which was admitedly a little tedious) it became very convenient and easy to use (think password manager/vault). I have since discovered which vendor it was thanks to Privacy and can rest assured that I have much more control now over what and when companies charge me for things.

I absolutely LOVE Privacy.com!! I use it whenever I make an online purchase!! I really like how safe it makes me feel. I usually make the card I'm using for whatever purchase a 1x use card & make it only able to use just a certain $ amount & once the initial purchase is charged I go check & make sure the card pauses or cancels so it can't be used anymore. It's super easy and extremely helpful. It's super easy it is to use & I like that I can give each site I shop at a unique credit card number!! I highly recommend it!!!

Great service. I am also using Eno from Capital One Venture X card but Privacy has benefits such as limits for payments (one time/monthly/annual) which Eno don't have (just on/off) at least as of writing this (July 2022).

I've been using Privacy for about 6+ months. I really like to use it for things like subscriptions (streaming services, magazine subscriptions, etc) that I don't want on auto-renew. If I get a notice, I can always decide if I want to continue, but I don't like to get surprised by those pesky auto-renew till you die after it has already happened. I highly recommend.

I have had fraudulent purchases on my card before I started using this. I have not had a problem since.

Privacy's virtual cards have been such a HUGE help for me for keeping my accounts safe from fraud. Aside from the excellent protection it affords, it also gives me such a strong level of control over how the cards are used. The chrome extension makes it so easy to use the service mid-purchase, and that makes my life easier as well.

After having my regular credit card hacked twice in 6 months, with dozens of fraudulent charges for many thousands of dollars I had to do some thing different, and this was it. I will never give anyone my regular CC # over the phone again, or buy something where a human manually enters the #. In addition, there are many subscription services that make it very hard to unsubscribe if they have your cc #, the New York Times being one of the worst. With Privacy, you have total control over how much anyone can charge, and can stop paying anytime you want.

One of the best finds I've come across on the internet in a long time. Really allows you to manage your finances with a proactive spending limits and multiple card management. Really easy to use. Can't say enough good things about this product.

Adding to all of the TRUE reviews before me I would also note that the customer service is GREAT as anytime I've ever had a problem I just reply to their emails and very swiftly get a response, mostly helping me to learn what I have done wrong. I attach this to both my personal and business debit cards (separate email addresses) and have had no issues asking for more purchase power on my business purchases. Really can't brag enough about how much better it feels to shop online and avoid unwanted charges! =)

I have been using Privacy for many years now and it's made online shopping so much safer. I can comfortably buy from less well-known companies with sometimes shady-looking sites, which is great if you want to break away from Amazon or other giants. It's just given me more options when looking for items/services. Speaking of services, I also like the spending caps you can place on cards, which allows me to make sure that I'm not being overcharged. I guess this could also help if you spend too much on a particular store and want to limit your spending. The extension makes doing all this so easy and convenient since it will automatically detect when you're buying something. You can create a new card right then and there without leaving the shopping site, and it will even give you suggestions if you have any existing cards tied to the shopping site. It can actually be faster and more convenient than using your own card (assuming you usually manually input your payment info). Sometimes it doesn't register that you're buying something so you'll have to open the extension and copy+paste yourself, but this has been a rare occurence for me. Never thought I'd simp so hard for a company --- for shame! But it's just that good and somehow free??

Makes it easy to give each site I shop at a unique credit card number. Removes the anxiety that one data breach could cause me days of work hunting down and changing my card number everywhere, because I know it is only used once.

I have used Privacy for some time now and have nothing but praise for it. Although my community bank was a pain to setup early on, support was quick and helpful to get me connected. When I needed a higher daily limit to make some larger purchases, support was a quick message away and quickly increased my limits. Privacy has saved me multiple times from fraudulent charges simply by not giving out my real debit/credit card numbers. If a vendor is sketchy or I don't shop at a vendor often I can just close or pause the cards for those vendors and even if my virtual card numbers are leaked I can have peace knowing that my money will not be transferred to bad actors. My only complaint with the service is that they do not currently offer the ability to "mute" notifications for a specific card. For example I would use this on cards that are leaked and will often be tried by bad actors trying to steal money. If I get a few notifications and know this closed card is lost, I should be able to just mute the notifications and be done with it.

This site has already saved me from have to get a new credit card number. I use it whenever I make an online purchase. Once the initial purchase is charged I simply pause or cancel the card so it cannot be used again. On more than one occasion, additional charges were attempted against the canceled card. I highly recommend using it.

Wonderful service, only suggested improvement would be to integrate it with more 3rd party password manager apps, 1password gets 3 stars here while lastpass, which I use, gets 4.5, so not going to change.

This is the best financial extension to ever exist and I am a super software geek! The ability to create unlimited cards with limits gives you the option to create unlimited trials and never get billed. Note: Some site no longer accept pre-paid cards. If you are looking for an alternative, then look into Blur as they say they don't use pre-paid card but they also aren't free. I haven't tried it. But Privacy.com.... You ROCK! If you could switch from pre-paid cards to some other method, you would be the best ever!

Privacy does better than Chrome's autofill most of the time! I've been using Privacy for about 9 months now and it's been flawless. It provides such peace of mind that if I ever have to replace my debit card I won't risk forgetting to update an important bill.

so helpful for so many things, but mainly because im forgetful when signing up for trials. I want try stuff, but I find i often am turned away because I think I'll forget about the recurring charge , this solves it and is a great companion

Works as a proxy to your real credit card or debit card by protecting your real account number. You can also add limits to the amount the card can be charged. You will need to upgrade your Privacy account if you issue (I believe) more than 5 new cards a month.

Privacy.com is awesome. It provides you better control and security around online transactions. Wish you could use this with Credit Card accounts instead of direct debit accounts, but still worth the security and control. Thank you for the service, and the plugin works so well I'm thrilled. I've been using Privacy.com for over a year now, and I can't imagine being without it. It works great and provides great protection. I first heard about it on the Security Now podcast. As an example of the protection, I recently ordered a part for a laptop from a company I have done business with in the past. The order went through as normal. A few days later however, I got a notification from Privacy.com that they had blocked a charge from some place I'd never heard of on the virtual card I used for that vendor. Then a day or so later, a couple more notifications came in where they'd blocked a couple more charges. I called the vendor to let them know about it, but they blew me off. Oh well, I tried to let them know. Their problem now. I just deleted that virtual card and haven't had another issue. Privacy.com saved me a lot of hassle in that case because other than trying to let that vendor know they had a problem, it wasn't an issue for me. I highly recommend Privacy.com. I can't imagine doing business online without it.

I originally heard about Privacy.com on the TWiT Network and decided to give it a try. I have been using it now for just over a year (free tier) and I'm very much impressed with the service. The only problem I have had with it has been caused by vendors that don't accept virtual cards, and you know what, I just don't need to deal with them. Love it when I'm on a site and Privacy.com pops up an icon that I can click and pick the virtual card that matches that site. Pretty much friction free. I VERY much like that ability to put a cap on any and all cards.

Privacy.com is great on so many levels. I have used it for over a year, mobile app and website but not browser extension. The support team is responsive to emails. The service does exactly what I looked years for: VCC Virtual credit cards. Got so tired of bank credit cards getting e-stolen no matter how safe I was. Now I create a card for each vendor. set time based limits, per transaction, or total amount. As soon as it is used, it locks to that vendor so no one else can steal it!!! I think I have 49 cards now. Pause them when not in use, closed some, change per card limits. As I use them more each month, I have requested a couple of account limit increases to put more transactions through Privacy.com. I use for monthly bills, purchases, one time shopping, DMV. Even some local businesses will allow me to manually enter card number without scanning a physical card. THANK YOU Privacy.com!

I've been using the service for about half a year now. I think the only issue I've run into is there are a few sites where their cards are not accepted (which isn't really Privacy's fault; some sites can be a bit strict on what payment types are accepted) Another issue I had was a payment declined on Amazon because the merchant wasn't EXACTLY the same, but I had a backup payment method on my account so it was okay. Other than those two things, Privacy has been great and it's almost a necessity in this day and age.

I have been using privacy a long time. The added comfort of knowing I am in control of every purchase online, and some even over the phone, is alone worth the subscription.

Simple interface provides easy access to a "lite" version of the website; you can do most things with the extension. I've never had any problems with Privacy or their extension and I use them often. I would recommend their service.

Privacy.com gives you the power to create your own credit card numbers for use with an individual vendors. This means that it provides you protection against many problems that normal credit cards are fraught with: Vendors that won't stop charging you when you've asked them to. Vendors that have data breaches where their copy of your stored credit number is revealed. You can also set a dollar limit, protecting you from vendors that charge more then the agreed upon amount. And much more! I can't speak highly enough of privacy.com - in fact, it's on my list of best practices that I provide to my own customers. I love this service and the plugin really helps. I have been using Privacy.com for the last several years. I love that I can ad hoc create a card to use for one retailer. Having the extension in the browser means I can do that with just a few clicks. I would like everyone I know to start using the service and install this browser extension. It is a life saver when it comes to online payment security.

Great service... Customer service side has some to be desired as far as turn around time goes, but overall the service is great and the extension integrates extremely well with the service.

Highly recommend this app and service. Free services are extremely worthwhile. Can create virtual cards quickly, including one-time use burn cards. Definitely makes me feel comfortable giving online payments to creditors, online stores, etc, knowing I can dynamically set one-time or monthly charging caps per card as needed. Never going back.

This app does exactly what it seeks out to do. I have been using for an entire year or more now. There are some sites that get around using it like Paypal, but on nearly every site it saves my info from being put in their bad security. Thanks this helps a lot. Highly recommend!

This says, "Protect yourself from fraud and identity theft with disposable credit card numbers for use online", but when it comes down to asking to dispute a charge, Privacy asks for proof on YOUR END! So if the vendor ghosts you, good luck with even filing a dispute.

Extension works well as I expected. The service is great and saved me from quite a few fraudulent charges as I see random declines of privacy numbers, I assume the sites got hacked and they got a hold of the number tied to the merchant, or some attempting to charge more than I authorized. I just cant say enough about this service, and the chrome extension just makes it easier to use online. LOVE IT!

I have used Privacy for seven months now for almost all online transaction. It is very convenient and though I haven't had any card frauds - virtual or otherwise - during this period the service has performed flawlessly and almost seamlessly with my online transactions. Perhaps one in thirty shopping cart designs foil Privacy's attempts to detect where it should insert its card data - so you have to cut and paste - but that's the worst thing I have to say about the product.

Privacy virtual cards are the best thing since sliced bread. I love that you can can make a one time use card, set the spending limits and I don't have to give my real credit card numbers to online vendors. It is also great to combat auto renewals.

I use this app all of the time - it's great! It's gives me a sense of security, I no longer worry about my card numbers being stolen.

I've been using Privacy for a few years now. There are other services that allow me to create temporary CC#'s, but none quite like Privacy. Knowing it locks the card to a vendor is great and means that once I make a purchase, that card number cannot be highjacked for any other purpose. Getting 1% Cash-back is a huge plus. My only complaints--and they don't effect the rating because I love the product: 1. Some rare sites don't allow you to pay with cards that it feels are gift cards and that includes Privacy Cards. The charge is declined but never goes through to Privacy. 2. When I get my Cashback, it auto-applies to the next charge. So, if that is a tax-deductible charge, like paying a medical bill, the amount paid out of my bank account is less than the amount on the bill. It makes it difficult to track. I'd rather be able to assign it to a charge or use it to buy an Amazon gift card or something. Overall, however, I love Privacy. Their customer support has been awesome. I've used Privacy to make purchases with online vendors who turned out to be disreputable. Chargebacks and returns are easy. Customer Service is right there. One vendor started trying to use my card elsewhere, everyday for 2 months. Had it not been a Privacy, I would have needed to get a new account number. Instead, the transactions were all blocked because I closed the card.

Love Privacy.com. It makes me feel better knowing my actual card numbers are secure and not out there for anyone to see. I find the chrome extension a bit glitchy but it's perfect for those reoccurring charges for places like Netflix. I would love it if they upped the beginning daily amount from $250 to $500.
