Just great. Easily one of my top three extensions. I find history invaluable in many ways, including problem-solving, and this extension expands Chrome's paltry 90 day limit to UNLIMITED! And it further provides options such as auto history backups in case anything ever goes awry (which has never happened to me in years of using HTU), and a function for transferring the info to a new device. I have to remember that when I *do* prefer to delete certain history items less than 90 days old, it's necessary to separately delete them from Chrome's history as well, since HTU wisely keeps its own history files completely separate from Chrome. Thanks so much for this extension!
Great addon and works 100%. Especially for those days where you just cannot remember what you did the last couple of days and got in trouble to due work load :) Cheers
Thanks, plugin is very good, can you add gist synchronization?
One time I needed to check some website I visited many months prior, and found out Chrome limit of 90 days of browsing history. I looked and asked around and was pointed to this extension, it seemed very promising! Installed and forgot about it. Until today when I needed it, so I went back to check a website I visited about 4 months prior... and found nothing. There was no records older than 90 days, again. Only then I learned that the sole funcion of the extension is most likely tied to this option of auto-backup which is NOT turned on by default! And no warning about it as well (because if there was I would have turned it on). Why would someone do that?!
way better than chrome history
Great extension! Search function and lasting forever (?) as opposed to Chrome's 3 months are invaluable! Only issue is searching for domain substrings, as sometimes need to find a site and that's the only thing can remember.
The best for history and meticulous, visit by visit, time by time, but I wish you could make this for android even if its condensed, and I wouldn't mind paying a one time fee. Chrome history deltes after 90 days and their acivities is separated by regular activates and a special https://myactivity.google.com/page?utm_source=my-activity&hl=en&page=chrome which you have to go to your activities page and search other activities and scroll down to chrome history to see everything that you searched for by android and PC. its so annoying. Anyways thank you for this
Google docs shows up lots of times, it messes up the stats
Brilliant extension. Thanks for your work. I was wondering, in a future version, if it would be easily possible, to choose where the backup gets saved, rather than in the downloads folder. And/or, if the old versions of a 'Full' backup could be automatically deleted?
It simply does what it says, and doesn't cause problems. That's a 5 star review from me.
My entire history that I had been backing up with app was deleted and I have no idea why because I never uninstalled the extension.
This should be an option within Chrome but you did it anyway. You are doing the work that NEEDS to be done. Thanks.
i tried using it today but it stopped working why is that??
I absolutely love this extension. From the moment you start using it, it archives your entire history and even displays it clearly for future reference versus the vague text documents other programs may be limited to. I just wish I started using it 10 years ago, but I at least still have from 2015 onward. The ability to export in full or in increments and then import it all later even ensures the longevity of the history in case of accidents.
Doesnt show past 90 days which I am looking for, I thought this extension shows my history past 90 days
I used to love this extension......notice I said love........I got on this morning and went to the extension and EVERYTHING was gone!!! The only history was today!!! I don't know how it erased everything prior today because it was working fine yesterday.......I am furious!!!
Simply perfect!
Just brilliant, and indispensable. I appreciate this extension so much, and it is so well designed. I depend pretty heavily on having a lengthier history. One of many, many examples as to why would be using a history keyword search to pinpoint *when* a certain issue occurred -- and maybe to remember how I solved it back then, or to settle a disagreement about when it happened. Or to find a site that helped me solve an issue, to aid recall on how I did so if it recurs, or to get additional advice.
Wow this extension is a life saving tool. I initially installed it because I don't like the way chrome deletes history past 90 days. And last month I needed something that I browsed long time ago. This extension saved me hours of work
Just downloaded this after realising Chrome doesn't save data past 90 days, works great so far, however new data does not seem to be saving. Any fix? Edit: has been fixed.
I love this, preserving my browsing history is super important to me.
It works well! Could you please add suport for search bookmarks in other languages such as chinese.
It's great! I just have one gripe: I can't seem to figure out how to search for parts of a url. For example if a url is idk let's say "twitter-dot-com/cavetown" or something and I search for "vetow", it doesn't show up, which in some cases is very annoying when I can only remember parts of a url I accessed way back when. u_u Still giving 5stars since all other features work flawlessly. Also! random question, if I export/import the data does it preserve the date/time I accessed websites?
what history should be
It's one of the most useful extensions. It's great.
I'm getting an error when searching for a keyword: Error message: could not prepare statement (1 no such table: search_urls) I've installed and uninstalled it so idk why this is happening. I've also checked the db with sqliteviewer and there is indeed no search_urls table.
Love this extension. Between this and the Everything app, my life would definitely not be the same! I run 3 versions of Chrome/Chromium on 2 PCs and as long as I remember to back up (or just open the browser with auto-backup enabled) within 90 days I can locate some obscure website I remember seeing 2 years ago for 30 seconds and look at every site, every song I was listening to or anything else I did that day online. What more could yo ask for?! The reason I mention the above app (or anything similar) is the simplicity of finding any one backup file anywhere, then simply loading it into the current browser version of the extension and that history is filtered and added to my current history. Especially with the way that Google Search has become, this app is more useful than ever!! (Not sure if 90 days is the standard "History" for Chrome like it used to be, fyi.)
only one suggestion. can you please please add custom filter option, like based on date and url. right now it is uplicable only to top 100 scearchs. "Results are filtered by:" custom option for this. i actually love to give 5.
I use it to search my history. It is faster than the history search included in both Chrome and Edge. Especially if I want to search way back in time. I suspect it may be keeping much more history. It includes the time to the second. I can easily copy my history to another computer with out sharing it with Google. Its a great aid to helping me keep track of my time spent doing work for clients. I love it!
All of my 2 years or more of data was lost after I re-enable the extension! Are there any ways to recover it if I didn't export history? And why did that happen Reply 1: That is the only time the data was lost after I re-enable the extension, the other times are fine. I'm using Chrome version 96.0.4664.93. This loss hit me so hard OMG. Definitely will use Auto Backup from now on... Is it possible to make the extension be albe to read and import history from Google My Activity?
This seems useful, but the feature to remove duplicate URLs from the history doesn't seem to work, so everything is very cluttered. Can anyone let me know if there is a fix for this?
It's stopped working for me since 26th Nov. Is it just me? Thanks. ( Problem Solved ) Edit: @Randy - It is working fine now. I'm using Chrome and somehow it was stuck at Version 93.0.4577.63 and when I try to update it, it won't autoupdate. ( error code 1: 0x80004005 -- system level ) After I updated Chrome using the standalone installer, History Trends Unlimited works perfectly as before. It even have all the history from 26th Nov to today 3rd Dec. Thank you very much for your hard work making this fantastic extension. :)
Unfortunately Search doesn't work for me, just throwing out an "Error message: could not prepare statement (1 no such table: search_urls)" error. Other than that this program is wonderful.
Excellent Resource to save your browsing history and search it
A superb extension with a whole lot of features for enabling heavy googlers to browse back through their history and obtain interesting insights into their search patterns. This extension is a must for all who are fed up with the limited functionality of chrome's history. Hats off to Randy Lauen for developing such a wonderful extension which is saving hours of scrolling through chrome history to find the right results.
ATTENTION ALL DATA HOARDERS AND ANALYSTS ALIKE BE PREPARED TO HAVE YOUR MIND BLOWN Seriously though, it's really well made.
Really excellent. Have had it installed since 2019 and it's kept all of my history since then. Excellent search functionality. Only small nitpick is that the auto-backup of my incrementals don't happen anymore. I just happened to notice this after looking at the options today and seeing that it hadn't backed up in 45 days (instead of the every 14 that it's set to). That feature always worked used to work fine, but who knows, maybe something on my end. Manually backing up is simple enough. And I needed to do a FULL backup anyway. Regardless, absolutely love it and highly recommended! Thank you very much Randy!! Truly Amazing and very grateful!!
I know this previously showed my history going back as I had installed it, but it now only goes back to December 2020. Is there a fix for this to get that old history back? I am on a Mac running 10.12.6 and Chrome 93.0.4577.82. Thank you.
Its just ridiculous that this extension does not have basic options such as deleting entries or even delete everything.. Its also missing a calender to show me the history of the exact day and year.. While some people would consider this is one of the best history extensions, truthfully, its missing some important functionality... and the sad thing it hasnt been updated in over a year.. so whats up with the dev? did he abandon it?
INSANELY helpful , like literally the best browser extensions after ad block for my purposes especially in information science., though I think there needs to be a patch for a new chorme versions. Willing it donate some micro transactions to support the dev , 9/10
The fact that it saves my browser history for longer than 90 days really saved a data hoarder. Thank you Randy for developing this marvelous extension!
the best extension i have ever used!! It has too many features using for more than 2 years.. backup feature is very handy.
Just what was needed, thank you.
This Extension Saved me. Didn't know Chrome stores URLs in your history for 90 days only...Tysm so Whoever made this
Great extension. My only problem with it, is that I've been using it since 2016, which means that the auto-backup feature has long since stopped working. Probably because the amount of data has gotten too large, though I'm not sure about that as the backup still works when I press it manually once in a while. Oh well, it's a tiny flaw in an otherwise very handy extension. I've saved a ton of time and trouble over the years by using it.
I love you, Randy!!! I also love this, it's probably the most useful extension I have. I got very annoyed when I found out chrome auto-deletes anything older than 3 months, but thanks to this I don't have to worry about exporting my history every month or so. So again, thank you!!
Why is this not open source?
One of the very few Chrome extensions that I've stuck with for years. Gives you full access to your browsing history so you never lose or forget anything you'd looked at previously. I have no idea why Google's built-in History feature is so limited and useless.
Just lovely. Although It'd be amazing if we could blacklist regex patterns. For an example, this also records visits to chrome extension pages. So if we could blacklist "chrome-extension://*" it won't happen anymore.
It does seem to sync across devices - I can see urls from other Chrome devices. That's great, but I don't quite understand, I thought it was supposed to show only local history? Could the dev comment on this?
Great app.
Very helpful as a tool to analyze trends and export history.
Best. All my sweet sites, all there for me anytime I want to see them. Anytime. I love this extension. It's an extension of myself, my interests. I went from that site to that one, beginning at that one--oh yeah, that's what inspired my search!? Oh yeah. Thanks!
LOVED IT. Found what i needed in seconds 5++++++
This is amazing, I cannot believe I haven't had this extension sooner! One annoyance is that Google Docs are flooding hits - it seems every time it changes or you're writing in a document it's acting like a new hit unfortunately : \ Would be nice to have those debounced or consolidated so they're not saying that I hit 1200 times for using a Google doc.
I just wish that the developer consider to create a button call Delete All History/Empty All rather than select checkbox one by one on the URL because it is really troublesome if you want to reset all the trends.Other than that, this extension is awesome!
three stars -- would give it five if it had support for cloud storage for your backup. I want to backup my history to OneDrive or GoogleDrive and functionality for this inside the extention would be great.
Absolutely fantastic.
Such a useful and elegant plugin.
Amazing. I am a datahoarder and it made me so sad to realise how much data I have lost due to chrome's history deletion. I wish they were upfront about it.
Works flawlessly. Got more than what I expected.
Like Lara, I'm rare in my reviews. But this is a great program. Thank you for creating this tool to make my life much easier!
this is my favourite extension on Chrome, I can find what I focus in a short/long term on internet. thanks!
Finally I can permanently save my browser history. Not sure why Google limited it to 90 days only without any option to disable autodeletion.
I am a long time user of it and love these stats. I am probably using it since 2016 I think.
Hands down best browser history app in the webstore. It's comprehensive and fast unlike some other feature-rich history apps out there that take forever to backup while also eating up a ton of memory.
I love this extension! It saves my history and does auto backups. It also shows interesting analytics.
Love it, absolutely perfect. Just one thing though, it seems to sometimes miscount the number of visits to Google Docs. For example, on one day I have 700 visits to the same google doc according to History Trends Unlimited, but I'm pretty sure I didn't load that document 700 times, do you know why this could be happening? Thanks
This does everything I want a fully featured chrome history to do
A hidden gem. A must have, ever since chrome began auto-deleting browser history.
Works like a charm, very neat extension
This is probably the best extension I use on chrome. Its the first extension that gets installed on all new OS and I love it. However, I recently discovered that it has skipped a few days (1-2) on a new install of chrome and now it has me paranoid. It has broken our trusty relationship. Is there away to import chromes own history to sync with history trends unlimited. I do have an app that can save chromes own history to various different file types or do I need to go the SQLite route. Like the DB import of firefox - https://sites.google.com/view/history-trends-unlimited/import-firefox-history - Would be very helpful. Thank you for all your hard work.
It's a perfect extension. Lightweight. Shows all the urls in a compact list. It also segregates the domains and list them in Top100. That's what I always wanted to know which domains i visited so far. Top100 does the trick. Even they can extent, I guess.
I hope there's a way to change Results per page, I have to constantly press older to see my history, Loved the extension but please add an option to set the results per page just like any other search tool
Amazing extension that does what it advertises. I like to see which days I most actively use Chrome, what hours I am the busiest, and of course the top sites I visit.
this is the good one. the only one that allows me to easily pinpoint a specific day, and actually works properly. it's very speedy as well. wouldn't mind infinite scrolling tho... as long as memory and performance can be well-managed. Also... unfortunately... ALL this time, I thought Chrome native history saved everything for all eternity. sorely mistaken. Could not find what I set out for, sadly.
Amazing. Allows me to extend my Chrome History past the 90 day limit.
Simple yet effective. Very useful for looking up that web page/topic you visited months ago but can no longer remember. Also very easy to transfer and maintain your history from one computer to the next with the Transfer History option. Awesome!
Can you make a version for FIrefox if its possible?
Excellent history app for Chrome. I was frustrated to find out that Chrome only stores a limited amount of history by default, since I was depending on having access to sites I had accessed many months ago. Now with this extension, I am able to track down specific webpages with information that I need even a year later.
Absolutely fantastic extension! It saves my history for all time, instead of just 3 months which is Chrome's default, and it shows all kinds of useful stats. Very awesome extension, would rate it 6 out of 5 stars if I could. I only wish it had a dark theme. But still, very useful and I consider it indispensable. I'm also glad that it respects privacy and doesn't transmit my history anywhere. Great extension all around.
The only Chrome history extension that can search properly. Very useful to search through and analyse your browsing history without the Chrome 90 days limit. Always works and Randy Lauen is doing a very good job maintaining it.
amazing app, really wish i knew of it sooner, there are still some bugs that i noticed. one example is when i open a google doc it basically counts it as like 70 views in a min.. Any way to possibly sync all devices using the same google account, so it counts my history on my tablet and phone or no?
Few seconds in. But I always feel the subtle signs early on of how a great developer you are. Everything made simple then with features as it should. Thanks
Absolutely One of the best History Apps so far. Still some minor bugs and issues which hopefully get fixed very soon. Thank you so much Randy. Keep up the good work !
Oh, thank you so much. This is brilliant, and very fast. Search by date, key term, and though I haven't tried it yet, you can even export a filtered result. Very handy tool for checking the time I spent on projects when billing.
Just what I needed to sort things. Never have to worry about the 3-month rule!
Chrome extension of the decade award: "History Trends Unlimited" ! ██╗. . . . . . . ██████╗. ██╗. . . ██╗. ███████╗ ██║. . . . . . ██╔═══██╗██║. . . ██║. ██╔════╝ ██║. . . . . . ██║. . . . ██║ ██║. . . ██║ █████╗ ██║. . . . . . ██║. . . . ██║ ╚██╗. ██╔╝██╔══╝ ███████╗╚██████╔╝. ╚████╔╝. ███████╗ ╚══════╝.╚═════╝. . . . ╚═══╝. . . ╚══════╝
Working as intended all the time. Clean, reliable and useful. Question to developer: is it possible to delete specific site or domain from statistics forever? for example google is probably on the top of the domain list for most users (including me), but few months ago I changed to other search engine, still it will take months if not a year or so to catch up with visits on google.com and still it will stay second on the list although I will probably visit it once in a month. So I find it useful to reset stats for specific domain back to 0 (warn user about consequences but allow that action). Cheers
"Transfer History" option is misleading - it DOESN'T RESTORE CHROME'S HISTORY! Extension's history is entirely separate database, used just for building stupid statistics/charts and searching. What's the point of counting visits??? What's the point of history search, if this functionality is available in Chrome's history already??? You cannot inject it into browser's history. Autocompletions - the main reason of backuping/transfering - are lost.. Absolutely useless. Removed.
Liked it but wht is the difference btw this extensions and History Trends
Wow. I wish I would have installed this extension YEARS ago. It literally is everything anyone would want it to be.
just installed it. options are smart, looks like it will work perfectly fine. only issue: the auto backup should be done diretly to g drive or chrome cloud instead of downloaded... and actually work on chromebook, instead of bringing download errors! :(
Nice one. Keep it up. I have a single suggestions for you. In your TRENDS tab, please keep Url titled instead of Url. With Url, it is not so easy to understand which web page it was?
Great extension!! really shows how much time I waist on stuff I shouldn't be browsing!!
Clean, well implemented, detailed analysis. Highly recommended!
Is it possible to scan old history files that were made by chrome? I have a couple of them in my userdata folder, some in folders "profile n"(n=1,2,3). I also wonder the same about bookmarks or downloads, although bookmarks never get deleted in chrome, so there would be no need? I like bookmarks because you can write a short comment about a website you visit, it's very handy.
best tool to look up past browsing
Love this extension. It's nice and simple. My only problem is that it only saves the local browser history. Is it possible to sync the history across multiple devices?
I very rarely write reviews, but this is a lovely little program worthy of praise. It quietly logs your browsing habits in the background and performs faultlessly. I've used it for over 2 years now and gives me a wealth of information on the 10+ million pages I have used!
Nice extension! Would be great if it could save site transitions in tree format (for visualization). Also, being able to filter list by word would be very useful (e.g. all URLs containing word XYX or NOT containing word XYZ.
Can you add a feature where you can search through your history in either ascending or descending? Like from oldest to newest entries since I want to know what I have look up on the web at the start of my web-browsing experience. It would be really convenient and many "search" option usually include alphabetical order as well. Thank you for the must have and best extensions I have ever found!
Great extension, I wish I had it sooner. I would be grateful if you could add some options, that apply on selection, beside the buttons on the search page. Not having to click into the advanced options would make searching/skimming faster. Below are my suggestions, -A drop down menu to sort by ascending or descending date -A button for date filtering (the calendar menu) Thanks.
Hi, The auto-backup history caught me off-guard today and I accidentally X'ed out of the Save As dialog before realizing it was from this extension. I wonder if there is a way to re-trigger it, or if this will leave a "hole" in my backups (since I have them set to Incremental)? Aside from that the extension has been very useful.
well needed. Well done. thank you
