Summary: Messy free version not worth using, paid version overpriced for basic functionality, hope the company can figure out their pricing and niche better in the future. The free version of this worked perfectly for me, for about a week. Then Mailtracker introduced a paid version, PRO, for $9/month. The new free version limits your tracking to one open per email. This is not a problem and is understandable, but the main problem I have is that it keeps signing me up for new email alerts that are totally useless. The first time this happened, I disabled all email alerts. Today I started getting a new series of annoying emails like this (see below), which I'm unable to disable in settings, so I will be removing this plug-in and going with another extension that does the same thing, for free, with full functionality: "Your email was reopened after a long time! ? To: Locked on Free plan Subject: Locked on Free plan" I ALREADY have all email alerts off. This company would be well-advised to stop monkeying with "features" that are really just nagging people to upgrade. This is literally spam and most users will likely report it as such. Speaking of upgrading, I would HAPPILY pay $3-4 per month for the very basic functionality I need from an email tracker (detailed open history per email, that's it), minus all the browser notifications and email alerts and other "PRO" features. Paying $9 per month for this basic functionality just isn't going to happen. A competitor of Mailtracker offers a much larger suite of CRM functionality for $15/month, that goes way beyond email tracking. If I was considering spending more on email plug-ins I'd probably be looking for that type of feature set. The larger point being, you have to have a more innovative and helpful offering for a $9/mo product. I wish the company luck in fine-tuning their offerings and sales funnel. I realize that process can take time. I would put up with the limited free functionality, or pay less for basic tracking, but the annoying upsell notifications (see above) and high price for the entry level product, with features I don't need, are dealbreakers.

For some reason the timeline on the sidebar on the right always says that the email has been opened with message "First open in 01 min"

Sometime, there is a delay, for example I tested the tracking by sending an email to another one of my accounts. Mailtracker said it wasn't opened. I checked again later and it said first open in 1 minute. But this fact was something I couldn't access within the first 10 minutes of sending the email to myself because of some bug. All in all I think it's a nice tool, very useful.

It is a great app. but it will be worth the name when it sends message when a person to whom we sent mail opens the mail message, by giving name and the mail id of the person who opened the mail

Edit: This extension is no longer worth downloading. It now notifies you when an email has been read by sending you another email. The email it sends says the time an email was read but contains absolutely NO info re: which email was read or by whom. Previously: Great extension. I wish I discovered this sooner!

The free plan used to be somewhat useful. WIthout any notification they changed that and now the free plan is totally useless. It is okay for a premium access/paid service, probably. The free plan is definetly NOT. Avoid it if you're thinking to use the free plan. It does not provide any relevant info.

MailTracker: Brilliant, simple, lots of information for free, even more for fee. Will quickly outsell Tracker. Don't stop now guys! Been using it for a week now. Forgot how helpful tracking mail openings can be. And when you see how fast or slow the addressee responds that is additional critical information in trying to contact people. Happy customer here!

i liked it at first , it showed me when the email opned and even if the email was opened again with time , but today somehow it changed by showing me only the first opened time and no history of the opened email ... iam confused do i have to pay a fee to get the basic service of seeing the history of the opened emails

Okay so it works fine, but this new update is really disappointing. It's annoying that it is now really pushing you to pay for extra features, but that isn't even my main complaint. The more annoying thing is now I receive emails alerts for "Someone just read your email" and they don't specify which email. Who it was sent to and what the subject were are "locked" (unless you pay for the premium membership of course). Seriously, just get rid of this feature, it's useless for the vast majority of us that essentially just want a basic "yes, it has been opened" tool like the double checks on Whatsapp or other apps.

It's a good email tracking tool. It enalbles you to know how many times your email have been opened so it becomes very easy for small business organizational to track their business mail.

A shame the new update. They just updated it to force a premium plan for any mail tracking features. This extension just got deleted. Such a bad move on their part. They need to come up with a freemium model that actually has valuable features on the free side.

When i come here for new extension means, our company is very disappointed with the new updated version, we are leaving. The new version is nightmare, complicated, difficult to understand. I do not if the tech staff were changed, the new version is ruining the reputation of Hunter

I was very reluctant to try the paid version but it's a great tool with great customer service and I understand the developers have costs to cover. It's unfortunate most features that were free are now paid though. I will give the paid version a go but it's not easy to justify the monthly cost if you are a freelancer or a student.

I absolutely hate when products lock previously free features behind a pay wall. It is now basically useless in the free tier. Gonna be looking elsewhere now. I get that you may need money "since we added some cool new features that bumped up our server costs." (see reply to one of the previous reviews) but I am pretty sure everyone would prefer if you keept only those "cool features" locked behind the paywall since no one asked for them.

Totally appreciate that you guys have to make money. Freemium has lost the premium part though and the extension is no longer useful as a free user so I'll be looking elsewhere.

Now it is pretty much useless since it only tracks the first email that was sent. Not replies or other emails associated with it, you have to buy the premium version for that. There are other free ones that do the same thing so I strongly encourage anyone to use the other ones instead of paying for this.

Good tool for free

Loved this and shared it with every other small business owner i met at work conferences throughout the country as the free features were great to help a small business grow. Unfortunately now with the paywall for basic features, I think that a lot of users including myself will have to find a free alternative until we can justify the additional expense. especially since we don't need the new added features. It was great while it lasted, and a shame that they decided to paywall the basic features. Thanks for journey so far.

Took away previously free features all to make an extra buck. One word - GREED.

It's amazing and gets the job done every time!

I've been using this extension for months and over multiple accounts and I loved it. However, understandably- but unfortunately, most features are now paid- including multiple accounts. I was just coming to terms with only basic tracking being available, however the multiple account feature being removed led me to uninstall the extension. 10 dollars a month is just not a probable option as a student.

Love this extension, but I'm bummed the feature where I can see the number of times an email is opened is gone. I understand the need to create a paid feature, but as a struggling copywriter, it's another expense I cant really afford. Having said that, the extension is great and very powerful tool for people who send a lot of cold emails. I would recommend it to anyone, even if they don't send cold emails. It's useful when trying to understand communication with the people you send an email to. A "peak behind the curtain" if you will. If you're thinking about it, just get it, you won't regret it.

I've been using this extension for years. I freaking loved it But WHY MAKE IT PAID? Fine I can understand that costs and everything are going up but going from free -> 10 dollars a MONTH is absurd. Already deleted this extension.

Amazing extension, very simple, and works amazingly. Just a side note, don't open your sent emails from another device. Say, you've sent your email from the desktop, and now you want to check the sent email from your mobile (to have the mobile view or check something). This extension will count your visits from different devices as it was viewed by the email receiver.

I have had MailTracker downloaded to my Chrome for several weeks and find it to be very useful. Prior to MailTracker I had no way of knowing when my Grmail emails were opened which was a glaring flaw in the Gmail design from its conception. Thank MailTracker

Used to be the best extension, but for some reason they updated it which made it stopped working and I had to re-install it. For some reason they changed the way the app works and the icon that shows if the mail was read with a half folder icon that makes no sense. It used to say when someone opens the email, now it doesn't really do that anymore. In other words, a great extension that needed no additional features became a mess from its own devs.

Giving this a 5 star, to date. However, there are some new features that, if not removed, may cause a new review. It has been dependable for the most part, and in support of the intention of this app, it has been a clear benefit for peace of mind...there is never a question about whether it was actually delivered and opened by the recipient.

I have used MailTracker for quite a while. I've had problems logging into it previously, but have always somehow got it to work when I needed it. Nothing has worked today. I'm going to look into alternate programs.

Working Great Until Today. I've been a long time user of MailTracker and it's probably the best out there. However, recently it just stopped working. The MailTracker panel keeps saying "Loading" and when I try to sign-in, I received a blank page. Maybe their site is down or it could be a recent Chrome update that's gone awry. I rather give this extension a 4.5 but I'm hoping the folks at Hunter.io see this and provide some assistance.

This has a lot of good reviews, so I was hopeful, but in all the tests I did I only got a message that the message was tracked but not opened, and it had been opened via various different methods - outlook, chrome web app and mobile versions, but no tracking unfortunately.

Mine is activated in my Gmail (green tick is showing and appearing next to the emails in my sent items). However, that's where the functionality ends! I am receiving responses to emails that MailTracker claims have not been opened?! When I click the arrow it says either 'Nothing Tracked' or 'Tracked But Opened Yet'. I have sent 10-20 emails to multiple recipients and this has happened with every one. Seems a bit buggy, to say the least!

This is one of my most useful extensions! It works great and as I am cold emailing people trying to get clients it's helpful to know if they are opening my emails. So appreciative of this free tool!

Thought it was coincidental that my emails were being read the same minute I've clicked on them. Seems that Hunter Email tracker counts me as the reader of my email for email threads. I've tried and tested this multiple times to see if I'm wrong , but seems that hunter email tracker really does track me as one of the readers for email threads or for emails in which the receiver has replied back to me. Inaccurate in depicting whether someone really has read my email or not. Also counts me as reader whenever I open emails I've sent on a different browser with no hunter email extension. This extension gives false hopes if your email really has been read. This could've been good without this bug/problem. I hope they address this.

STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM THIS APP!!!! I would have given it zero stars but that is not possible, so I had to give it one. On top of not working, I sent a friendly email to the editor and my email was simply marked as spam. I'm extremely unhappy with this and feel this is an abuse on their part!
