Word recognition is excellent, almost as good as my Dragon Naturally Speaking program, which no longer works with Windows 10. Voice notebook has a lot of commands, but they offer no reliable instructions on how to get to and use them. I hope they continue to develop the program.

Only 3.5 stars (+bonus half star for the srt>audio tool on their website:) because I feel it needs updates and several things are unclear. Also i'm not entirely sure of the licensing so am i legit in using it and when but I wouldn't pay for it, "with that being said" is the dumbest sentence of all but i digress. Is this free because the Windows integration howto mentioned purchasing after trial period.

I just installed it, haven't learned where the keyboard shortcuts are to activate it in a text field. I need that please point me to this. The recognition is excellent in my opinion. I just need to activate it faster as it only allows me to say one phrase then I have to reactivate it. I have continuous checkmarked. Any ideas?

works brilliantly for me. I wish there was also a simple way to change languages one uses.

If you add the option to have a small microphone icon in every Input field so we can one-click dictate, this will be the best voice extension out there.

I just installed this and find it works well, though I have no history with it yet. Word recognition is excellent. It has a slight delay but then types a phrase at a time, so on the whole it keeps up. I find it recognizes almost all of my words correctly whether I pay special attention to enunciation or just talk naturally with my Okie accent. Tried with different people and different computers, including one about a decade old. Linux integration works fine on openSUSE Tumbleweed (though it's one of the advanced features for which there's a modest fee). All that keeps this extension from a 5-star rating is a quirk: It drops double-letters, so "quill" comes out as quil and "office" as ofice. [EDIT: Actually these work fine in the voice notebook and text editor; they're only screwed up in LibreOffice]

Works relatively well. Needs smaller updates for instance when you want to insert additional text.

Проблема в Украине с данным плагином. Долго очень запускается. Как мне кажется проблема из-за yandex метрики. У нас яндекс заблокировали и её не грузит. Можно ли как-то убрать яндекс метрику для украины?

I will give this app a four star rating. Pros: - Once you get the idea it works *very well* indeed, even with long complex sentences - Excellent for forms - Documentation seems to be good and the developer seems to be about Cons: - Seems to add spaces a bit strangely. It works nicely with general punctuation, but fails a bit when starting new lines - New lines are started with lower case letters (and a space). - Yes, its a bit slow at adding the text, and yes, I have a high quality mic that is set up properly. - Iv tried other apps and one function that this misses is replacing text. Example: If I say "my address" the app will replace that text with my address as saved in the replace list. This is handy for form filling, but providing the replacement text is not changed in any way it also means that I can easily type in any programming language of my choosing - a *very* helpful tool for my work. Overall a very good concept. Lets get things straight: It works. For me there's a few issues but I want to use this for more than just forms or random note taking, but my general advice would be to give this a go because it does work.

extremely slow (10-20 sec till words appear). keyboard is blocked till you stop it explicitly, cannot correct recognized text. useless.

Surprisingly accurate, very useful (I am on Chromebook). Use the keyboard shortcuts to activate within text fields. I use it to dictate answers as I study foreign languages online. Keep it up!

Works great for me using Lubuntu. I followed the instuctions and had it working in under 10 minutes. It is the only way I have found to get decent quality speech recognition in Linux. I tried Simon Listens and never got that to work properly.

Speech recognition is decent, but it's cumbersome to use. I spent more time tryint to set it up than the time it saved me from having to type. Looking elsewhere.

It is a bit slow, I have to quickly speak my punctuation or it adds an extra space, it often starts each line with a lower cased work. I am glad that it can work in any text field but if you have Chrome OS you can do this by using the on-screen keyboard in the handicap tray and it allows you to use voice. This extension does it a bit cleaner but is a lot slower.

I'm using this app to dictate this review. It is important for people to know that I have been a user of one of the more recent versions of Dragon Dictate. This app has better voice recognition then that $100 Dragon. Not only that dragon had lots of baggage along with it which slowed my computer down. This one, I believe is server-based, so all the computing power is from another source other than my computer. The other great advantage is that it integrates better with windows. I have it set up so that it is able to put words into any field I select. As well, I could rave endlessly about the developer. He has provided me with personalized customer service for every question that I asked.

Censors English expletives. Not fully sure I trust it either. The first time I entered the 'Start Speechpad' shortcut (ctrl+shift+X), Chrome opened a new tab to the speechpad.pw website, where Google issued a "This site's security certificate is not trusted!" warning. However, another visit didn't prompt the same message (https), so I think its safe. For a Russian site it seems legit enough, it's also got a Facebook and Twitter. Still.. pretty mysterious.

Great little talk-to-text add-on and fun to use. I can now read my hand written notes into a text editor and save some typing time. I like it.

Does exactly what I need it to do. Right-click in a text box, click on Speechpad, then start talking. CTRL+SHFT+Z is a great shortcut to start, too!

It works... when it works. Most of the time it leaves out a significant portion (like the first 60%) of the sentence when I start speaking, even if the text box is red and it's supposed to be recording? I've tried this in various text boxes and a lot of them (facebook included) keeps rejecting.

This extension is surprisingly accurate. I had low expectations, due to other extensions, but this is by far the best one ever.

I really wanted this to work, unfortunately it just didn't. Couldn't get it to work in any webpage/text box, not even their own testing page. Went to the help page, tried everything including the keyboard commands, but it never input any speech at all, just spazzed out. Too bad, seems like it used to work well in the past!

This is the ONLY extension to work with voice input for me. Once I learned the control-shift-z keyboard shortcut it's working perfectly!

A Google User November 16th, 2014

better than the others! this time I can choose when I want to speak. It doesnt have to be a basic text box :)

This is a very good extension. You need to read the directions and explore the options to get the full benefit. The are shortcut keys (CTRL + SHIFT + Z turns it on and off in a field) and the text recognition is very good. It has a few commands and even can transcribe YouTube videos and other audio. The developer speaks Russian and so the video tutorial is not "slick" in English, but this is an awesome tool for free!

It works great, however, there is one fatal flaw... To dictate you must first put your cursor in a text field, right-click, and select "Speech Pad". This highlights the field and "activates" it so it's ready for you to talk. Then you say something and it converts your speech to text. Then when you hit "send" or "enter" the field is reset and you have to repeat the whole right-click, select process over again. I was using this extension on a web chat and I had to repeat the process like 15 times. Can't you provide the ability to "lock" a field so I don't have to keep activating it over and over again? 3 stars for the nice idea and good recognition algorithm.

Recognizes speech well, even some medical terms and seems to adjust to my accent. It is the only chrome app, I found that allows input directly into web applications. One area to improve is for it to pause as I stop speaking so I would not have to prompt it after each sentence. Thank you developers!!!
