Feature request: Since Disney+ has a handful of titles that switch between aspect ratios (looking at you WandaVision) would it be possible to have a mode where the extension detects the aspect ratio of whatever you're watching and switches on and off automatically?
Lately this extension has issues when going full screen. Here is a workaround to get it to work: -go to "chrome://flags" -search for "Choose ANGLE graphics backend" -select "D3D9" Now it should be fixed!
the subtitle is still missing
how do i even reset it, if it doesn't work, it just stenches the media you're playing.
It does indeed work and removes the black bars but then when you press fullscreen on a 21:9 monitor it then stretches the imaage and the back bars top and bottom become the problem? I just want my piture to touch ever edge of my monitor....
It's been working great but doesn't work anymore. It stretches the video width but not top to bottom and so the black bars remain. I notice there hasn't been any updates to the extension so I reckon something has changed in Chrome. But I'm not really qualified to say. I just know it doesn't work anymore.
It has worked for me for months, but suddenly all it does is stretch the video length wise leaving black bars at the bottom and stretching the image out
Works great but subtitles go missing when fullscreen. They kinda move out of the screen
Works, but once enabled, the subtitles no longer function. Could you please fix this?
Great work! It works awesome! I did find that the subtitles do not work on full screen though. I developed a workaround. It is the JavaScript that is changing the width and height of the subtitle overlay. To make it work every time without changing it manually, create a JavaScript override in Chrome by finding the hls-player.js and replacing this: const { width: n, height: i } = e.getBoundingClientRect(), { width: r, height: a } = t.getBoundingClientRect(); (n === r && i === a) || ((t.style.width = n + "px"), (t.style.height = i + "px")); with this: ((t.style.width = document.documentElement.clientWidth + "px"), (t.style.height = document.documentElement.clientHeight + "px")); That way it just gets the full viewport size instead of the goofy stuff that it is doing to get the getBoundingClientRect value. I am not sure why they did it this way but it works for me now perfectly, even after a reload. Great app! Consider finding a way to do this through the extension, if possible.
gotta love how disney plus is like "mmm yes file is in 21:9... better add a Disney+ logo and not put it in 21:9, keep it in 16:9 so that all content is in our logo's aspect ratio"
It's a really good extension (thank you developer!) but even in version 2.3, subtitles won't work when going to full screen. Only after a page refresh the subs appear again, but if you use the plugin and go to full screen again (or F11 for that matter) the same thing happens. It would be lovely if the subs could be fixed :)
Works as promised. However subtitles wont work with this plugin (they disappears) , so I had to uninstall it. Shame, I will return back when this issue will be solved.
Works as intended. Subtitles are showing as long as you dont go fullscreen. After you go full screen subtitles dissapear. Then you need to reload the page for subtitles to appear again
Breaks the subtitles
very usesfull. im mad that disney and netflix dont provide us ultrawide users with this automaticly. thank god we have people like this that solve our problems <3
It does what it claims to do, and losing those black bars makes a big difference, but as soon as you enable the extension, your subtitles are gone until you stop playback, go back to the info page and play again. I couldn't give more stars unfortunately, because it just adds a nice to have feature but breaks another essential feature. I hope they can fix it.
Great but break the subtitles. The subtitles disappear at the moment you click on the extension button.
full screen ok. but support for subtitles is very weak.
Great to make it work in ultrawide, but subtitles still aren't showing. Would be 5 stars otherwise.
The extension works great the only problem is it took away the subtitle.
is simply worked
This is very useful! But the subtitle is not working on my device. Does anyone's work?
Works well, very simple to use Sometimes the subtitles appear in the middle of the screen making it hard to watch
Best flipping extension on the chrome store. How disney haven't incorporated it i don't know.
They say the subtitle issue was fixed, but not for me. Whenever i switch to full screen the subtitles disappear
doesn't work in full screen, works on clicking the extension when not in full screen but as soon as i try to go full screen the black bars are back, useless app
Exactly what I was looking for. The only problem is that I think it affects subtitles. FYI, to get subtitles back, open dev tools (CTRL+SHIFT+I), then search for the subtitle element (CTRL+F, then type "subtitle"). Then look over at the styles tab. You'll want to edit the "element.style" - change width and height to the size of your screen (e.g. width: 3440px; height: 1440px;)
doesnt work anymore
Using Microsoft Edge & this 21:9 stretch app works perfectly fine with icon pressed & F11. However the only downside is subtitle not displaying correctly, it's kind of showing only half of the characters on the bottom right after stretched and F11(Full screen). If it's not full screen, then the subtitle is fine.
It doesn't display subtitle in full screen mode. This is really pointless without been able to watch with subtitles.
It simply worked which is more than enough for me.
Works Perfectly, quick and easy, would recommend
I love it, really levels up the immersion.
Works great exactly as you would want it to, one button and it's fullscreen on an ultrawide monitor!
requires proper positioning of the subtitles
Worked great until recently. It zooms in way too much on many shows now, leading to part of the actual image being cut off.
It is not working with the new Netflix anymore. Can you adjust it to cope with the new version of Netflix? Thanks in advance.
Worked a couple of months back, but something broke it since then. Now the plugin doesn't do anything when pressed, regardless of fullscreen or not. Tried fresh reinstall and updating the browser, but no dice.
it starts to stretch it properly then manually inserts the bars on the top of the window which completely screws up the aspect ration.
This works perfect. Thank you. I was wondering why 21:9 films were playing so small. I have a 34 inch ultrawide and movies were taking up the space of a legal doc (Roughly 14 inches by 8 inches)
Perfect addon to view DinseyPlus on my Ultra Wide Monitor at full screen. 5/5
This doesn't work perfectly. It works if you stay fullscreen window and you get very thin black bars to the sides (because your browser bar covers some of your screen, but if you go fullscreen, the image is squashed and you get black bars top and bottom where none should be, because the disney+ interface charges in and hard reserves the space. Here's an example from the Alamo 2004 movie (2.35:1 aspect ratio) imgur.com/iRgz9tR.jpg
Wow. An Ultrawide extension that actually works and doesn't crop portions of the video off too! Glad I finally found this one. Just, it seems I need to click the extension icon for each new video I go to watch, but not a deal-killer since this one does actually work for my 32:9 Ultrawide.
works fine but the image gets stretched when going into fullscreen
As someone else mentioned, this works perfect if you're watching in a browser window (with the browser bar at the top and your computer's taskbar at the bottom. However, if you click the fullscreen button, the video will fill the monitor width-wise but not vertically, making the video horizontally stretched when viewing a 21:9 video on a 21:9 monitor.
The extension doesn't work correctly in fullscreen browser only windowed, will update if this changes.
I have a 34" Ultra-wide monitor and this works so easily! My thanks to the devs!
Thanks a lot! Really saved my movie night. Can't believe this isn't a feature in Disney+.
With this extension when I watch in windowed mode it expands to the correct size, but when I run in full screen it looks perfect for a second then is squishes on the Y access. Aggravatingly close. It's a big tease.
used to work on disney flawlessly until last week, they have updated something, the button corrects the aspect ration on the screen, but when I press the full screen button on the disney webpage the horizontal black bars appear from nowhere and squash the image, if you can pls fix this!
used to work, but stopped a couple days ago
it doesn't work anymore for some reason, worked great before though
Worked flawlessly
Doesn't function properly on Disney+. If you do not watch in Full-Screen, then it works but the moment you enable full-screen mode on the video player, then the video playback reverts back to the old smaller screen with black bars on top and side. Hope the devs will fix this or else it defeats the purpose of truly enjoying the movie or content.
this is a simple extension that I loved very much, however, it appears that it doesn't work quite as well as before. I used to be able to activate the extension and then hit full screen in Disney plus and it would work great. now it stretches the video unnecessarily and leaves black bars even though it should just fill the screen. whether or not this is on the extension side or the Disney plus side I cant tell. but if it is possible for you to fix this then that would be great, if you cant however, I will not change my 5 star review. it doesn't really matter since this is a very first world problem.
Doesn't work properly. The subtitles for some reason become gigantic and are in the middle of the screen, and when expanding, part of the left and right video gets cut off.
It works and it doesn't. I'm using a 32:9 monitor with a 21:9 + 11:9 screen option. The extension seems to work fine when not in fullscreen, but it distorts and squashes the video when entering fullscreen. Even circumventing the "fullscreen" button in the video player via F11 has the same effect. It works fine when I'm using the single 32:9 screen mode but I am using another (less reliable but working) extension for my 21:9 + 11:9 mode in the meantime.
this is amazing
This is the only extension that I've tried to work well with super-ultrawides (49"). All the other apps upscale, but crop the top and bottom. This one upsacles to fit to screen. You'll get black borders on the sides, but it's better than no upscaling.
App isn't working correctly anymore. Two black bars are still there and image is stretched incorrectly in full screen mode.
Its broken now, disney screwed it up on their side. app when full screens stretches to fit, not frame to fit
It works
This is a lifesaver. I was so much disappointed with four black bars on Disney plus, but this extension is SIMPLE and PERFECT.
thank you
Bug: When using a NIVIDA GPU if hardware acceleration is enabled in Chrome's advanced settings, the video will be stretched instead of zoomed in upon. Workaround: Disable hardware Acceleration in Chrome's advanced settings. Please message me to acknowledge the report and I will replace the 1 star with a 5 star. Also- a way to report bugs without giving an unfavorable review would be nice.
When toggling it on and then going to full screen, there are still black bars above and below the picture for a 21:9 programme.
it worked for a while for me, but now Disney forces the top and bottom bars and it stretches the image.
Works great. IF YOU GO FULLSCREEN AND STILL SEE BLACK BARS ON TOP AND BOTTOM, THIS IS A PROBLEM ON CHROME USING NVIDIA GPUS, GO TO SETTINGS IN CHROME AND TURN OFF HARDWARE ACCELERATION
Perfect, exactly what I needed
It worked wonderful at first, but I recently tried it and it works before I go in fullscreen, but when I do, it stretches it wide but then makes it shorter. So it is as wide as my monitor, but not as tall. I believe this is just a bug, but I'd like some sort of info about it as to if there is a fix.
Serious respect for this dev, offering a script like this for free! Great job.
It worked perfectly for a while, as for today 1/28/2021 it doesn't work anymore, when you go full screen it squishes the picture looking even worse than before, hope there's a fix for it
God bless you man. Was so annoying on Disney plus. So happy to have something out there that fixes it right up. Also works for netflix. 5 stars all day
Would be perfect if it worked in full screen.
Wow it does actually work, and not just zooming in and cutting my movie off. Now if only streaming services that you PAY for could do this. Now back to the movie.
This should be standard on disney+ and other streaming media providers. It works really well. The only problem I had is that I can only use it while fullscreen is off. when I enable fullscreen on d+, it scales to the perfect size and then black bars show up on top & bottom of the screen, flattening the image. A shame I can't get it running totally fullscreen, but even on non fullscreen it works way better than default.
It works perfect!
This was way to easy to do lol. wondered why my movie wasnt going full screen, one google search and extension later and its fixed. Very odd but it works perfectly
Amazing. I can't believe it Disney doesn't support ultrawide.
No longer works. It actually made the video smaller.
Works exactly how it's supposed to
It even works with HBOmax too!
I thought it wasnt working because the icon in the overview pictures didn't show up on my toolbar. Click on the jigsaw puzzle (extensions) icon next to the bookmark star and pin the 'disney plus ultrawide fullscreen support' icon to your toolbar - thats where its hiding!
Very nice extension. Simple to get it to work. Thank you.
This made Disney+ a lot better for viewing, and fixed problems I was having with diagonally split screen. Very Helpful
Exactly what I needed, excellent job. Really appreciate guys like you doing this stuff for free :)
Thank you!
Perfect app, fixes the one problem that Disney+ has.
Exactly what I needed, works perfectly! I have a CHG90 and it is awesome.
Perfect, you're doing Hero work here! Many thanks :)
Doesn't work with fullscreen in https://www.hotstar.com/in which is Disney+ in India
It reverts back to when I try it on full screen. Any idea?
Brilliant extension.Any way of toggling this with a function key
Finally one that worked. 10/10
subtitles is now middle in screen
Good stuff. But missing hotkey. Great Job
Our God "Band of the Hawk" has helped the world!
A must have for D+.
Works like a charm!
Definitely works as well as I would hope.
Perfect, works so well and is so simple.
Works great watching disney+ on my ultrawide monitor
Perfect, thanks!
works as intended
Started watching Disney Plus on my ultrawide and immediately was disappointed by the black bars. I did a quick search for a fix and this extension came up. Works perfectly. Thank you!
I thought there was something that I was missing until I Googled why my Disney+ wasn't playing in true full screen and found your extension. It works perfectly on my LG Ultrawide monitor now. Thank you thank you!
