Another useless plugin for invading users privacy
DOES NOT WORK
People have been downloading PDF files from websites for thousands of years without needing a browser extension. The only reason this can exist must be for some shady reason connected with data harvesting. Which is not what you'd expect given my institution literally pays these people for the service in the first place.
A stupid decision to add this feature and it's a waste of time to use. Don't know why they still have it.
Useless scam
Fail. Even after installation: This document could not be downloaded. Check with publisher(s) or try your link resolver. (Failed for 10.1007/978-3-319-62470-9_3)
Adding more friction to research than necessary by adding unnecessary additional steps.
I feel bad for writing another bad review when there are hundreds are saying the same, but this needs to be addressed. The 20% of users that would save time and benefit from this extension should have the option to download it, but it shouldn't be mandatory, and for the 80% who are only downloading a few articles, this requirement adds time. The security intrusion is also unwanted, and to top it all off, the extension doesn't work as intended.
An extension with FULL access to website the browser vists just to download articles from scopus? This seems super shady bro. And then it can't even download articles you pay for...
complicated, want to download but navigated to other website bcs some problems.
Terrible idea that creates more problems than it solves. Can't download the articles I want despite having access to them.
Install an extension just to find out the PDF can't be retrieved. On three separate articles.
This extension does not work at all. It makes no sense to hide the published URLs to try and force people to download through this extension. It works awful and you'd best try another website than scopus to find your articles that you are trying to download.
I could find no problem and it could download the papers I wanted :)
Invasive and completely unnecessary.
I am not getting. Earlier it was 30 days full sciencedirect access to the reviewers but it is not working now days. can anyone tell how it will work please.
So terrible should be banned from web store.
I cant believe they make you download this.... I hate Scopus, after this class I will never use this database again.
Extremely disappointed that I have to allow Elsevier to read and change all my data in order to download PDFs from SCOPUS. This is not a requirement to download PDFs from competitors, completely ridiculous that SCOPUS requires it and certainly leaves the impression that Elsevier doesn't take data privacy seriously.
ridiculous to force an extension
It is a scandal. I cannot download any article from scopus anymore, also those "open access" type, even though I have institutional access, because the page forces me to use the extension, which needs to be linked to google account (it doesn't accept any other e-mail address). How many institutions are there tha have instutitional google accounts for their emploees? It is ridiculous!
such a nuisance
it simply does not work
This idea sucks. just a waste of time
Pointless... Doesn't even work..
Completely ridiculous that you would need a browser extension to download journal articles. Don't download this, find your papers elsewhere, thanks for wasting my time Scopus.
This is objectively spyware and there is absolutely no reason for this to exist.
why do I need this to download files from scopus?
Love it. Super easy to use. Search and download is very intuitive. Developer explained why it couldn't be done via web application. Don't understand why using an extension is so much harder for some people. Don't know where all the hate is coming from. Keep up the good work!
I downloaded this and try to get the article i want. Then it told me that this article can't be downloaded. Why not tell me this before i download this goddamn extension!
Pointless
It worked as it should, installed the plugin could download the article… the question is why couldn't I just download the PDF directly? I don't get it!
I still did not get access to the article that I wanted due to restrictions on the publisher's end. How awful.
Huge waste of time and poorly conceived extension. Don't download. No, you don't need a browser extension to verify and download PDF's we do it all the time using your competitors websites (which actually work by the way). Ran into the same issue as others, downloaded your browser extension only to be told that the journal article cannot be downloaded as a PDF. Go hire some real programmers and do better.
Totally pointless
required to download, screw you scopus
下载一篇论文,要我安装插件,行吧,那就安装。 安装完了告诉我论文不能下??? nmsl Tell me it can't download the article after I install this plugin. wtf
It's pretty absurd that an extension is required to do simply download a paper. I've read the developer responses "1)connect to third party web sites which cannot be done from the Web Application itself (this is known as "Same-origin policy"). 2) be executed on your own environment so that publishers will recognize your IP address and allow you to retrieve their PDFs." I'm not sure what the danger of just taking me to the site is? Or is it that the pdf is so obfuscated this extension is doing me some service? The paper's I've tried this on just respond "This document could not be downloaded. Check with publisher(s) or try your link resolver." so it's somehow even more worthless.
This document could not be downloaded. Check with publisher(s) or try your link resolver. WTH?
not working
wow need DOWNLOAD extension FIRST to download article!
Why would I ever need an extension to download articles? And why on earth does it need access to all data and to share this with third parties? Awful, just awful.
This is useful and efficient for high volume research activity. While on Scopus doing my research, it fetches the .pdf files from many publisher sites directly onto my local device. Helpful for gathering a set of document files to later read and reference.
Is it possible to related the .pdf file downloaded with the items information in Mendeley or Zotero? That is to say make the .pdf as an attachment for some items in Endnote or zotero?
The link from the Scopus site doesn't go here (it gives "Uncaught Invalid Chrome Web Store item URL."), and when I install it from here it doesn't download the PDF, just a copy of the webpage I'm on. This all besides the fact that I'm already logged into my institutional proxy, and that it's pretty ridiculous I need a plugin at all. Also this plugin requires *java* (!) which has been deprecated in Chrome since 2015.
Since when do I need an extension to download something?
I love it
Thanks for this; a great improvement on the previous DDM.
Good work, nice bulk download from all different publishers.
Why should I install a separate extension just to download a .pdf file from one specific website? I can download things from Scopus, I guess, but that isn't much better than before when you could only use Internet Explorer to use the website, because it didn't support any other browser. Consider hiring people who know what they're doing.
installed and still cant dl articles from ur dog page
