Pretty good, I think the smart paste extension has the most updated version of pdf.js
0 issues or problems. Smooth, fast, not sure why it has such a low rating.
Recommended software. Solved one of the major problems with chromebooks for me. All other pdf viewers I have tried are utterly due to excessive lagginess, seconds and more. This one updates pages OK, also seems to do a much better job of navigating page numbers.
Out of date. The latest PDF.js has newer features. This extension hasn't been updated since 2019!
You can start from where you red the last page 5/5!
As many mentioned, I'm surprised by the low rating. This extension makes PDF scrolling much much smoother in Chrome, on par with Edge's PDF support (which has always been better than Chrome).
This works perfectly! Chrome default pdf viewer is laggy while Microsoft Edge seemed to have a very smooth refresh rate. This extension changed that. I don't know why the rating is so low. The only con is that the pinch zoom (touchpad) is very sensitive so its better to use Ctrl +/-.
I dont use Acrobat or other softs. This is my preffered way of opening PDFs. Does anything i need, i can rotate, the pages are numbered both in roman (i, ii, ix etc) and arab (1, 2), displays chapters on the sidebar, can zoom in and out easily. 10/10
Works great and works with relative links within PDFS which most embed browser PDF views won't do.
pay no attention to the spam bots, this extension is solid.
Don't know why rating is so low. For me it works better than default chrome pdf viewer.
Very fast and displays well, just that some download links gets opened instead. Not sure if it's another extension or the environment interacting with this one.
I got it to speed up scrolling from very laggy on 4k screen and it did a great job. Scrolling is much faster now, way better
It's good but the font is so atrocious that I sometimes have to turn it off to be able to read the text. What's with those random spaces in between letters and why are they sometimes the same size as the spaces in between words? Why are some letters on top of each other? (Is there a way to change the font to a better one?) Other than the font, this extension works really well.
It works OK , not great. Better for opening and viewing smaller PDFs, but the oddities are annoying. It doesn't work at all when viewing Drive through the Chrome browser. Opening the same exact Drive files with the Files app, it opens them at the selected optional zoom setting, but when I swtch to an internally indexed page, it changes the view to "automatic" .
It works great! I'm surprised with the extension's low rating.
The low ranking of the reviews put me off initially. Just try it out. People that are giving low rankings are probably using 1080p monitors therefore on their system the default pdf viewer bundled in chrome works just fine and when they look around for a different pdf viewer it is likely because they want more functionality. This extension is not aimed at them. This extension is aimed at people with 4k-like monitors that are frustrated by the unusable performance of the default pdf viewer but still want to be able to view pdf files in a browser rather than always downloading them to use the pdf viewer they have installed on their system. Having said that this extension still offers more functionality than the default one so you may like it even on lower resolution monitors.
Great Actually replace the default Chrome PDF viewer Include an option to resume reading PDF files where left off.
I do love the extension but, I wish you could block certain websites from using it instead of allowing certain ones. I have a far shorter list of sites I don't want to use the extension on and it would be easier to just block those
a nice firefox product
This fixed the weird low fps/lag I was having when I scroll through pdfs.
Love it! I would appreciate an update to update the underlying PDF.js library, though ;)
Best for reading books, if you add highlighting option for making notes it will be much helpful.
Has been using for many years. After reinstalling Google, I understood how valuable it was.. Google's default PDF viewer is fine, but this is much faster and also has many features. Just a advice, please add a feature for highlighting texts.
beats the default viewer in performance easily
Very helpful extension, default pdf reader in chrome doesn't have capability to return or bookmark position in opened files
Don't be put off by the low ratings. Its better than the built in viewer - certainly a LOT smoother, especially when scrolling. Covers all the basics that the built in viewer does too, plus has a presentation mode. It successfully automatically intercepts most PDFs I open and takes over from the default viewer, which is exactly what I want.
Great, you can use it with screen readers
Used it for the search option which the default viewer doesn't offer
What is the shortcut to toggle sidebar .
It works but lacks a lot essential features
Very practical extension with many more functions than the default one. I also set Chrome as default PDF app, so all PDFs are opened with PDF Viewer.
The best feature is not needing to download every PDF I want to open.
works great
Doesn't open my file if its directory has some spaces (e.g., C:\Users\A(space)B\Documents\C(space)D.pdf). Please fix this ASAP!
Great simple pdf reader. Hunted around all afternoon to find a simple one that worked!
Allows you to set your default viewing preferences. This is pretty awesome for those of us that *always* want "Page Fit" and "Odd Spread" for viewing documents on a large screen. No need to change the view each time.
Very useful extension. Thanks for making it. My only gripe is that when I want to print a page or page range, it will "prepare the document for printing" and it does this for the entire document. This isn't practical for, say, books that contain 500+ pages: It just takes too long. Would appreciate having an option to select a page or page range first and then have the extension prepare only those pages of the document for printing. Thanks!
I had liked this in terms of a pdf viewer. However, it has a major flaw that will cause certain video players on sites to not function properly. I guess I will have to find a different one.
Great add on but the "Apago PDF Enhancer" is annoying and distracting

Love the ease of use. Especially wrapped scrolling when you can just zoom out and the pages tile in multiple columns flawlessly and automatically.
This removes all lag when viewing PDFs on my Samsung Chromebook Pro. Somehow, this extension displays (local) PDF files more efficiently than the built-in PDF viewer on Chrome OS. I am very grateful to the developer of this app.
Returns a very poor quality pdf after download
Works great! No issues.
Best and the most useful extension. Saves memory .
Marvellous. I open dozens of pdfs a day and this saves me time getting the zoom right
This seems like a well overall rounded PDF viewer for Chrome. There seems to still be some kinks and bugs to work out, but this is the best PDF viewer I've found. Cheers!
I save PDFs by copying the paper's title header, clicking Save, and pasting the title. I was looking for a better pdf viewer since the default one stopped allowing me to copy text. I found this viewer. I checked it could copy. I was happy. And then I noticed IT DOESN'T ALLOW TO SET THE FILE NAME WHEN SAVING....!!! #SlashMyWrists
when is it, I have to continous to have to download this file
Simply work. Beautiful tool.
Worked for my Ubuntu 19.04 chromium browser.
Which extension I was looking for a long time.
I like this because the default Chrome PDF viewer doesn't save your place, with this one I can read books and not worry about closing out of the tab or restarting my computer.
useful for me
Added for the option to return to the page where I left off when reading a book, and it works perfectly.
(I am not a super technical user) I have a Mac desktop currently running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6 recently have not been able to open pdf's in the web browser - added the extension to Chrome and it works beautifully. Thank you.
working well for the small number of docs tested here. https://superuser.com/questions/1382749/how-to-view-properties-of-a-pdf-document-opened-in-chromium-based-web-browser/1383350#comment2205794_1383350
I downloaded it in order to be able to preview PDFs before downloading but it is not helping me.
I would rate 5 star but due to one function. Which is need to upgrade for the find function, where the page should display all the match word with highlighted in the scroll tab as well which will be easier to find the matched word easily in long document or articles.
Opens PDFs in browser without having to download them first. Exactly what I wanted. I swear this used to be a native feature in chrome, but lately chrome has been requiring me to download the PDF first before opening it in a new tab—and this isn't an issue with my settings, I have the setting: "Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome" turned off. Basically, this extension does what chrome used to.
Does not have access to files. I provided access in extension settings, restarted the browser, and even turned my tablet off and back on again. Running Win10. Thankfully I opened a PDF from the internet and realized it is working there otherwise I would have posted a very negative review.
We have been using this extension for QA automation testing using robot framework PDF doc verification, Currently I am unable to use it on Chrome 74.
Excellent extension! A little suggestion that the document outline in sidebar could keep folding by defaut, or else a document has hundereds outlines might make the reader very uncomfortable if the reader try to find a specified outline. Appreciate it!
This, and all other readers based on PDF.js are surely better than the Chrome default in speed and offer more operational possibilities, but the chrome://xxxx prefix before the URLs is annoying, and it also prevents some other extensions (e.g. Zotero) to handle the PDFs. But I guess this can't be solved. Is it possible to introduce a "blacklist" mechanism so that this extension is not functional for specific sites?
This extension significantly reduced the time it took to preview large PDFs.
amazing! really helpful.
Helpful on my projects PDF Viewer. Thank you very much.!
Good extension. Works great and doesn't get in the way. There are times when a PDF link can't be opened by the extension for whatever reason (it says the file is corrupted). If I then turn off pdf.js, and then click the same link, I download the PDF and I view it just fine. I then turn pdf.js on again. As you understand, this process of 'disable pdf.js, download PDF, enable pdf.js' is very time consuming. It'd be great if there was an easy way to override the extension for those occasions and just let us download the PDF *asif* the extension wasn't present; it'd be great if we could do that anyway for the PDF's we know we want to download anyway. Thanks for a great service.
Does absolutely nothing. PDFs still can't be associated with Chrome. I even set Chrome as the default application to open PDFs and all it does it move the file into the "download" folder... garbage.
Works well, also to view pdfs without downloading :)
woah one of the best pdf reader
Very good. I can easily view PDFs of 300+ pages. Much better than the default.
- Best way to 'present' from a PDF on Chrome OS - BUG (maybe) = if file has mixed orientation (landscape and portrait), PDF is printed out with messed up scaling (e.g. landscape shrunk to fit onto portrait-oriented paper) I like how Chrome OS' built-in PDF viewer automatically re-oriented mixed orientation PDFs when printing.
Cannot read files direct from Drive where most of my pdfs are located
Didnt work at all
Excellent.
Should be the default in Chrome, just like it is in Firefox.
Excellent. Much better than the default chrome PDF viewer. I only wish it could open PDFs from Google Drive without having to download them first. Is this a planned feature?
Love it. Sometimes it needs the F5, but other than that it's great! :)
Simple, elegant and does what it should.
way better and more functionality than default pdf viewer in chrome
Slow Printing cuts off documents about halfway.
The application is very good at what is says - to view PDFs. No bells and whistles but, given the name, that is to be expected. If highlighting/comment functionality was added, this would go to 5* easily.
Fast and easy to use. Worked great opening a complex document - no discrepancies from Adobe version.
Much better than the default chrome pdf viewer where it was all blurry.
good
Extension seems to be exactly what I was looking for. I got tired of needing to download pdfs (and needing to clean my downloads folder all the time). Thanks developers for publishing this very needed software (that honestly should probably been native, but that is not on you guys).
The one thing I miss--not a fault of PDF Viewer--is the ability to drag the URL of a PDF from Chrome's address bar to a webloc file on macOS.
it's great plugin. Save my time and project.
SO far so good
zoom and font continue to be problematic sidebar weirdly start to popup despite configurations now this enables me to always be able to drag text in pdf to tabs to search just like normal webpages (since it's html) since it's an extension, chrome disabling backspace ruined my old way of navigating pages.
Needs the ability to rotate 90 degrees
It's great, I don't understand why it has such bad reviews...
Needs highlighting tool
Can you, please, add a two-column view?
What's the changelog for the new update?
It used to be better when it asked me to specify the folder to download files to, now it automatically saves to the Downloads folder, so I need to take extra steps to organize the files to the folders that I want them in.
its good
good
Warning: it triggers Openload's anti abuse mechanism
Does exactly what I need when I want it :) Looks geat and no issues thanks for developing this extension :D
Junk. I just got strange unpredictable results. Avoid this one.
