Google continues to make Chrome hard to use. Google Lens and the new sidebar make me miserable every time I forget what Google has done. This extension solves the problem, and search now works for me again. Better yet, I can search other sites more easily too.
I'm having trouble getting the highlted text to transfer over to added search engines for example Salesforce

I had it set up for youtube music searches and it worked a treat but has stopped in the past few months. Any ideas anyone?
Doesn't work if you search a term with a "&" in it (Youtube), the phrase gets cut because he forgot to url encode that character
Very usefull tool. Only one thing missing - ability to sync settings between computers.

I use this nearly every day and it's irreplaceable. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I'd love to see keyboard shortcut (or hotkey) options added for even further efficiency.

Great extension, very handy for creating custom searches (e.g. using a number on a page to get the exchange rate for a particular pair of currencies). Simply works, no fuss. Which is how it should be!

Have used some kind of extension like this in browsers for 15-20 years and this one used to work but now seems to be dead...can no longer customize the search engines (still offering me *Bing* as a choice)...webpage seems gone so if anyone can recommend an up-to-date replacement please do so.
FIVE STARS - just what I was looking for - configuration is super simple and easy - an extremely well conceived and executed extension. A bonus for me, too, is being able to create custom display names for contextual search items. Bravo!
No longer supported, but still does what I need it to do. Would love to see it picked up by a new developer, but grateful it's still a useful extension.
Important feature missing from all browsers.
Update 4 yrs later: Had to remove it. It kept randomly deleting all my configs. Donezo! Next! Previous: Missing one small thing to make it perfect; The ability to categorize searches into groups. i.e. Search Engines -> Google, Bing, etc. Images -> Google Images, Picasa, etc. News -> CNN, etc. Instead of having one, long list where they're all mixed together.

Great extension , but i would really love it if it could be able to have keyboard shortcuts for the searches. for example if i can click ctrl+1 on a selected text and be able to search for google or any site i assigned to it

This is one of the only search functions that allows you to link to files on your local/shared drives by "searching" for the filename.

I would have given 5 starts if this extension could sync its settings across browsers with my account.
I love this extension. I've got nineteen searches in it, set up so I can skip all sorts of intermediate steps. Saves a lot of time, and let's me stay focused on what I'm doing. I was going to make the suggestion to add in the option of a separator, but then I tried adding one myself, with "————————" as the "display label" and "about:blank" as the link. Nevermind! That worked great.

I love this extenson but it keeps forgetting my saved search engines. Ive had to set it up 4 or 5 times
Is good, BUT needs encoding of selected text to work with things like twitter hashtags (%23 instead of octothorpe literal). e.g. select "#hashtag", rightclick, search twitter, breaks on the "#".

Useful extension, but it needs to escape reserved characters. An ampersand in a search string should be converted to %26 so that it is not treated as a delimiter. As it stands now, if you highlight something containing an ampersand, the search string will be truncated just before the ampersand.
No longer working. Used this for years and will update back to FIVE stars if it can be updated but right now, it's dropped to ZERO stars since it stopped functioning undoubtedly from another Chromium code update.

Use it many times a day. Sure wish development wasn't dead. There are many pent-up great feature requests that would make this extension even better.
Sorry if I didn't contact the developer first, but I think people on Chromebooks (this one is a Toshiba 2) shud know that it never did install a right click option, which pretty much makes it worthless. After going to the trouble of weeding thru the options, in order to add 'DuckDuckGo' & 'StartPage' (aka ixquick). Neither showed up. big bummer. Great idea; poor execution.
excellent end very useful feature. Use it to search parts on mouser, digikey and octopart.
This is without a doubt the extension I use more than any other, and I use it multiple times every day. The searches I use it for most often are for Google maps, Google images, IMDb and Yelp. I think I added some of those to the defaults which was dead simple. Get it!

The authorś web site is dead so I guess this is not longer supported. Just as an fyi... Love it, works and does what it needs to do. One thing I would love to see is a backup to my Google account. Yes, copy & paste but it would be easier and spread thru all machines...
If I have only one search engine, can it replace "Context Menu Search" in the context menu so I can save some mouse movement.
It should let you search using the search engines you have "built-in" into Chrome. Now it has no use whatsoever to me.
There are a lot of search extensions. The problem with most of them is they start you off with a handful of set search engines, most of which you don't want, and you have to manually add others you want (and sometimes you lose them all). What makes this one the exact thing I was looking for is it has a long list of pre-defined search engines with all the major ones (IMDB, wikipedia, amazon, bing) and you can choose the ones you want. You can also add new search engines, but the exciting this is, this time I only needed to add one manually.
So dang helpful! Great for highlighting IP addresses so you can do a whois or check blacklists when browsing your firewall logs.
This is one of my must-have tools for chrome.

It works well. But it will be better if we can search in several links at the same click, i.e http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=TESTSEARCH; http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=TESTSEARCH in 1 line, will launch search on both links in separate tabs...

Wanted to give a rating higher than 5 start if it was possible. Most useful extension for project research in multiple online databases. I use this extension on a daily basis. Being able to back up the search sites is great. Feature recommendation: add a shortcut key that allows the search result to open in current tab instead of opening in a new tab. Second feature recommendation: add a feature that search pages can be grouped so when I have a keyword search, I can select the group and multiple search tabs open with results at once. Just recommendations because this extension is awesome as is! Thank you, Programmer

I don't usually rate extensions, but this is such a handy and unique one that I couldn't resist but do so.
I use this extension heavily. It works perfectly. Feature Request: I would like to parse input to multiple URLs. For example a search would open multiple tabs like google, bing etc. at once.
It searches even from form fields :)
Useful, addictive... my internet moves like : search youtube, search wiki, search eBay For improvement, I would like to have an option to have search options in right-click main menu or in sub menu... I would prefer to use them in main RClick menu. Faster = better.
