You're a life saver Yash. The people here complaining about subtitles not being found, that is not what this extension is meant to do. Find subtitles from opensubtitles and use this ext to apply them. Also, I was wondering if it is possible to create a webapp that embeds youtube videos and does the same thing on the web.
It doesn't work on the get-go. If you're planning to use this on a not popular video, then it's not worth it, as it relies on already-existing subtitles out there. If there are none, it just isn't going to work. The description also sounds a bit vague and quite misleading for me.
It worked when I first got it and now it isn't working at all, the bar doesn't even come up to upload subtitles
It currently doesn't work - SUBTITLES button under a YT video doesn't do anything
Doesnt work. Tried several different videos and no subtitles for any of them.
It was helpful! At first It did not work as I had the youtube video opened before I installed but then I refreshed the page and it worked, thanks!
thanks it is great.
I love this extension. I started watching a Turkish series on YT but the channel disabled auto-translate subtitles, so this has been a lifesaver. Although the database it uses to search for subtitles doesn't have any of the titles I watch, I can easily find an .srt file elsewhere from other subtitle websites, and upload it. It integrates seamlessly into YT as well, it looks like it's actually part of the website. The developers have done a great job on this.
its good, but captions aren't available to half the videos i watch :(
Bro whenever i try to get subtitles under the search there is no subtitles available it keeps saying so, i can't neither upload or see if works. If Anyone what happened if can be fixed then tell me what to do
It works fairly well. However, one big downside is that clicking on the video no longer toggles pause and play. To pause or play, you must either click on the little pause/play icon in the lower left corner of the video or press the spacebar. My impression is that the captions are shown in a transparent layer over the video, so when clicking on the video I'm actually clicking on the captions layer. It would be nice if that could be handled better. I was happy to see that this extension is compatible with the "Video Speed Controller" (VSC) extension (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/video-speed-controller/nffaoalbilbmmfgbnbgppjihopabppdk). Some of the shortcut keys conflicted, though. Fortunately, VSC allows its shortcuts to be configured. I wish "Subtitles For YouTube" allowed configuring shortcut keys!
It doesn't seem to be working for YouTube anymore? I can't find the interface when I open YT on my Desktop.
No subtitles found on YouTube...
Honestly there aren't many subtitles
I applaud you for your great work in making this extension, you're a community pillar. I'm running into an issue, and I created the issue ticket on github could you please take a look? I uploaded an srt file to this video, but it's not showing up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRsiBhhH0rc&ab_channel=ABO-SLLO
doesnotwork,when i searcheditkeepssayingtheresaprolem
So far it's working great! I love the feature of shifting the subs timing if they don't exactly match the video. It would be nice to be able to change the background color of the subtitles box though, because it's sometimes barely visible on bright backgrounds.
It only displays the captions on very few videos. I was expecting this extensions to be like how Chrome's live captions work but with more languages then English. Disappointed.
Hi Yash is there any way to DL video with extension youtube subtitle? i tried to DL spanish video but there is no english subtitle.
It worked once.... then I tried to watch the same thing the next day and it was no longer working. Kept saying "Uh Oh looks like there are no subtitles" even though the day before there were subtitles.
Does this work while watching live streams if it does its not working for me :(
Accurate, no lag.
it really doesn't work well. searching up subtitles doesnt work and theres no other way for me to watch what i want to on yt-
It's must have :D
Not working! English song, still no subtitle. Terrible. Clicked on Chrome extension and it's just RED/ It does nothing. Just downloaded too.
it wasnt wornking i was trying to watch anime and it was in Japanese so i got this and it did nothing
nice
I have no idea how this works because it's somehow adding subtitles to some videos that don't have subtitles included (usually short scenes from American Movies posted on youtube), it's impressive.
works like a dream, specially for foreign language movies. Thanks a lot for the brilliant idea on internet.
hey yash, great work! it used to work perfectly fine for me but suddenly even though i have it installed, the UI for the subtitles doesn't show up anymore. Tried reinstalling it but to no avail. Please help.
not working rn. not sure what is triggering this issue
Not Working Would be great IF it worked. I'm on fast Internet and Windows 10. Instead of "automatically adding subtitles to ANY YouTube video", it's doing nothing. It allows you to SEARCH for subtitles under the video, which is about useless. Then it comes up with the following: "Uh-Oh! Looks like there's no subtitles by that name. Try changing the title?" Every single video that doesn't already have subtitles on YouTube, this is the message I receive. It doesn't auto-generate subtitles, doesn't add them to the videos. Instead, it allows you to search for subtitles, doesn't find them, and that equals you're again stuck with NO subtitles. If there already were subtitles on the YouTube videos, you would of course see them anyway and this has no purpose.
Hi, can you add download subtitle function?
Sound good but unfortunately, it not working at the moment
Works perfect, exactly what I need! Thanks so much for making this!!!!!!!
I was gonna try it to test a subtitle to see if its positioning / styling is working as intended where community contribution is disabled. I thought it would also work for WebVTT (vtt) subtitles also but I think only SubRip (srt) subtitles are supported. If it's possible, please add an option where you could use YouTube's native subtitle player (if that's possible) and also add support for WebVTT (that can support styling and positioning)? If it helps, when loading subtitles, I think they transform the subtitle loaded when pressing the CC button to a <timedtext/> XML document (if you inspect the request on console). But if I'm actually gonna watch movies or something, I think it would actually be very useful.
Great for putting foreign subtitles
I can't figure out how to use it
Hello Yash, I've installed your extension and kindly, consider that I've got already German transcript from YouTube. But, trying to get English subtitle for that German video. It's great you have made upload option. Still, Anyway to get transcript or subtitle which not available on web with help of your extension and Even would like to hear for other possibility. Thanks!
Is there any way to remove the light grey background? It's quite annoying.
I enjoy the extention very much. Recently, I found G or H does not seem to work.
Thank you for your hard work first of all :) A little suggestion: It would be nice if we could move the subs up or down (like for the CC)
Great work! I am using Persian language. For some srt files it works perfectly. However for those files which I have to change my current system locale to "Persian" (in my own laptop) it does not work and it shows the line all in question marks. Maybe you can fix this bug in your next release :)
Yash I cant thank you enough! I had been in need of such a thing for years, you don't know how useful it is to me! Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!
Umm I downloaded it and when i open a spanish youtube video i want english subtitle but all it does is glow red
We want add Auto-Translation !
Not working though, or is there something wrong with my system? Whenever I upload a subtitle, it doesn't show up.
great job, but is there any way to change the font size?
not working cant actually upload the subs
The subtitle tab doesn't even show up.... it doesn't work.
ice
not working
yeah its working fine..
Useless
does not work at all
WoW!
Even modern Pentatonix, Home Free, and MattNickle Music Christmas titles didn't have matching subtitles. I did find a couple of the classic movie subtitles, but history.com DVDs which I use a lot in classes I teach...no luck.
Not working
AWESOME!
just one word.Excellent thanks a lot for the new update :)
This is so confusing
Works really well. But is there a way to change the subtitle style? Not just the size, because the dark background is bugging the hell out of me.
It is really easy to use but if we could change the location of subtitles it would be better.
Man, Thank You So Much !! Brilliant
mantap
cant i save my subtitle language setting? Because everytime i refresh, i had t set it again. The setting of the language go with my country
Does not work in linux some times. subtitle search works but subtitle does not appears.
Double Subtitles
worked right off the bat(once i refreshed the youtube page)
This is useful for watching movies which don't have subtitles embedded. You just have to search and download subtitle file (*.srt) from opensubtitles.org or subscene, and drop it. There's also the option to manually sync the subtitle with the video which is very useful.
This doesn't work at all. Can anyone help, please?
Doesn't work
SUCKS DOESNT WORK
Thanks very helpful
Have been looking for sth like this for a long time! <3
Thanks a ton man!!!
Working great! Thank you!
How and where do you find .srt file? I'm trying to watch overseas shows on youtube and I can't find .srt files anywhere to add or drop under the youtube video :(
good
hey please i need help. I see the box under the video but i dont know how i upload a srtfile. Help?
This extension is great! It solves the problem of displaying subtitles, or different subtitles, on videos without having to download them. I also like that it lets the content creator receive the ad revenue, which is only fair.
It didn't working now
It's awesome! Works great!
working...........
what an idea sirji!! works perfect...:)

Thanks, just need an option to view next/previous line of subtitle , as in smplayer..
This is great!
Awesome
When it works, it works flawlessly but occasionally the search subtitle function won't search for working subs, and the shortcut actions such as time offset is not visually shown when activated sometimes.
