From October 24th, 2016 to February 4th, 2023, 30% user give 5-star rating, 3% user give 4-star rating, 3% user give 3-star rating, 10% user give 2-star rating, 54% user give 1-star rating. for Cite This For Me: Web Citer chrome extension.
It works, but there are better tools available for free, such as MyBib: https://www.mybib.com
Works very well and makes college and high school 10x easier. I did notice a bug where the date accessed is 1 day ahead of what it should be (ex. Accessed on 29, when you accessed it on the 28)
ALL THE 1 STAR REVIEWS ARE BOTS!!!! THIS WORKS REALLY WELL!!!!
Half of the time, the details aren't correct, despite the original author and actual publication date being explicitly displayed at the top of the articles. I'd rather manually type the reference as editing the given reference wastes more time. Furthermore, roughly 35% of the time, the extension is ineligible to cite a website.
Wrong format. It auto creates a citation using proper info from the website, but this is not standard and not useful for serious use.
Not a single accurate cite..very disappointed!
bruh i cant even go to refme.com it redirects. i'd wish you luck with failing but you don't even need any. and also i think the rest are bots :/
Does what it's supposed to do, works with a lot of websites, definitely deserves 5 stars
I have found that for school work we see no issue using the citations that it has created for me in the past. However sometimes it does leave out information so if you want to be 100% sure of your citations you still might want to enter the information manually.
Doesn't actually pull citations from most news sites. Most of the times I tried to use it I would get a not found.
I have been using this app for couple years; now I cannot sign in into the chrome extension. Anybody know how to fix this?
It struggles to reference Legalisation correctly, although this is a common issue I find with a lot of reference management software.
It doesn't make accurate citations
very useful
Doesn't automatically cite anymore. I have to do it manually. What's going on? I have a chromebook.
This is so good and helpful, especially for students and anyone who is trying to create a bibliography.
it was terrible
cant use
It's citations are not good and do not follow the proper format. Also some of the parts of the citation, such as the date, are completely made up. The extension barely works and I find it easier to just go to "citation machine".
IT IS SUPER CONVENIENT, AND IS SUPER EASY TO USE! GREAT FOR STUDENTS, AND IS A LIFESAVER FOR WRITING REFERENCES!
this app is like a bugger in ataco. do not get!
Super useful.
Awesome for school projects that require citations. So much more efficient than having to search websites that create citations for you. LOVE IT! Totally recommend for students. Help yourself get an A+!!! I love the way it takes no effort at all and is always with you all through your journey through chrome!!
this is gorgeous i cant believe i didn't know about this earlier! so happy this is in my life and more people need to know about this immediately!
I found this super helpful! It makes it so quick and easy to create high quality references for my bibliography - I hated going through each source and painstakingly looking for publication information, but Cite This For Me does it within seconds.
It doesn't work anymore. What happened? It was buggy before - yes - but now it doesn't work at all.
This is the most inaccurate piece of trash I have ever used. It won't even cite anything. It's one thing to miss the mark slightly, but it's another thing to not achieve them at all. And this achieves nothing useful.
I like the idea of it, but I can't say I love it mainly because there's no inclusion of stuffed crust pizza.
AFTER I completed a term paper, it holds my bibliography hostage behind a paywall. Do not use if you value your own time. Total scam
Glitchy and terrible
"Add to bibliography" DOESN'T WORK!! Please fix this!!
So easy.
I love it
BEST THING EVER!!! YOU HAVE SAVED MY LIFE
Used to be good, cant even use because it thinks I have an adblocker active
cites what you wants in a second! rlly helpful tool
Does the job
It's not 6 Ed. and it doesn't always do the citing correctly...
Fantastic
I regret to say that this extension does not adequately perform its primary function. While trying to use it to create an MLA citation, it became apparent to me that the extension does not work properly on my device despite the Chrome web store saying it was, because a portion of the GUI was off screen. Eventually I was able to resolve this issue and tried to cite in MLA. The extension did cite the website correctly, however, it did so in MLA 7. There is no way of citing in MLA 8, the most recent version. This ultimately prevented me from being able to use the extension.
Does not follow correct guidelines for MLA 7 or 8.
It works so well
rubbish
This works for me, if it does not pickup the authors I just add the manually. I also use Apogee to get those citations citethisforme does not.
RefMe was an excellent citation generator. CiteThisForMe is awful. It doesn't recognise most of the articles on pdf and even on webpages it cant seem to find authors (it can manage web address and title, thats it). The fact that it opens up the webpage everytime you add a citation and then you have to fill in the majority of details yourself is a waste of time. If anyone knows of a better citation generator please let me know. I am done with this.
This literally made my citing a lot easier. I am terrible at citing and could never grasp the concept, and when I started college and had to do it in APA format my mind exploded. This is an excellent problem free way to have your sources cited correctly with little effort.
mostly amazing
Clunky, inaccurate, out-dated. A cynical approach to software provision underscored by the purchase and burial of RefMe. I should add that I am using the paid version. The negative comments from others cannot be attributed to the fact they are using the free version.
i must say i loved it! I may look like an egg but that's not holding me back from being able to 'love' an extension that helps me with my everyday egg-like needs. Thanks a lot Cite This For Me: Web Citer you really scrambled jimmies the right way, i'm dripping my yolk everywhere.
Inaccurate citations.
I used to love REFme, It actually let me have an account without paying for premium which meant i could log in and use it from anywhere and it was so reliable and easy to use unlike this. Cite this for me, Not worth it.
When it was RefMe, it was excellent. It compiled my references wonderfully, worked neatly from my extension and made my life so much easier! Now that it's CiteForMe, it's completely rubbish! It won't allow me to access any of my previous bibliographies, and I can't add anything else to it without paying! Unless you're willing to pay ÂŁ7-ÂŁ15 p/month, it's a totally useless app
this is awesome
Said my bibliography had 'expired' and basically forced me to either delete what i had or sign up for premium. You had one job! Jesus christ this is a terrible extension, don't get it unless you want to pay for it
I used to love RefMe! I was okay when they became Cite This For Me and was happy that my references were still saved. However I logged on today to find that my account had expired. I HAD NO PRE-WARNING OF THIS! My history project is due tomorrow and I now have none of my references. ABSOLUTELY HATE CITE THIS FOR ME!!!
This is an awful piece of software. Having used the much better software in refme, I'm deeply disappointed that I was forced to move to citeforme when it's such as substandard product. It's clear refme wasn't bought out so citeforme could take over it's better features and integrate them into citeforme. They bough out a competitor purely to shut them down and force people onto their product. It's not as good, and the worst reference manager of all that I researched.
Beutiful
refme was better.
Drivel. Utterly and astoundingly beyond bad. Chegg have, effectively, taken a brilliant system (RefMe) and clearly paid someone who works for RefWorks or some other competitor to turn this into what may be the worst academic tool ever seen. Truly, truly awful.
Pales in comparison to RefMe. Barely works as its supposed to and has made referencing a hassle again.
Rubbish add on. Used RefMe before these guys shut it down and that worked like a dream. The only item this addon can cite accurately 50% of the time is a website. Using this for journal articles and books is more effort than its worth.
Awful transition from RefMe. The extension doesn't add the references to any bibliography and for the most part the references have mistakes in.
Adware galore and inaccurate references.
Makes you fill in everything needed to cite, then pretends to lose your work and prompts you cough up cash. Remove from store.
If you follow the reviews back you can see when 5 stars turns into one star (it would be zero if you could do that). Ref me was as good as this piece of garbage is bad!
Now you have to pay $9 a month. Trash.
Seems pretty good, compared to http://nitrowriters.com . Good job.
REFME was may much better! ruined it by changing over. plus it does not give you the full reference.
Almost always wrong
Absolutely useless compared to what RefME did.
It does the citations incorrectly almost every single time. The authors name are jumbled up and it keeps on citing only websites and not journals. Have to manually key it in literally almost every single time now. Refme is so much better and accurate.
The purchase of RefMe by Cite This For Me has lead to an appalling reduction in service. Key features including a intuitive layout and a working search were critical to RefME. Something that CTFM does not have. Please bring back RefME
So far so good
Referencing inaccuate, can't save it to a specific bibliography. Awful compared to RefMe!
As a former user of Refme who was forced to switch over, I am NOT happy. Refme citations were much more accurate, and it had the ability to sort citations into projects. Bleh! I want Refme back!
Barely ever parses the right information. If you're gonna take over RefMe, you should at least have superior systems first.
I am very unhappy with this extension. It contantly gets the entire citation wrong and its bugs consistently get in the way of being productive. has been more trouble that its worth
The transition from RefMe to CiteThisForMe has been terrible. I've lost loads of work for my final dissertation because of this. I have logged into CiteThisForMe and there isn't a single reference or quote to be seen. You've just set me back days! I am going to have trust issues with anything cloud based for years to come.
RefMe was much better! Bring it back
We all miss REFME, very sad to see it go :-(
The update of RefMe is so bad. It has to go through so many clicks and windows to get to the reference. Its time consuming and stressing. please get back to the previous version. This is not so good.
So far part of the information is missing on a citation and annoyingly it doesn't retain the "Attach quote". No point in using it...Whats happened, RefMe was wonderful?
Barely working as ana extension, constant errors and inability to cite websites. The change from refme to citethisforme was a bad one. The layout is hard to oversee, not intuitive anymore and far too convoluted. Please re-vamp your current setup or go back to the old one.
So sad about losing RefMe. What an app, with a great extension. This just doesn't work.
Ah dear lord, what is this? You kill a perfectly good and free REFME app, and replace it with this garbage? This is literally the worst review I had to submit in my entire career.
Awful. Bring back REFME, it was able to generate a completely perfect Harvard reference for an article whether on pdf or website address. This new version basically just generates a useless website link. NOT HELPFULL AT ALL.
This new version of Refme is awful. I've been using refme for the past three years, allowes such easy reference list to be made. This new app has transferred all my dissertation references and put them into the wrong order, with the authors all over the place. Uneccessary stress.
Give me back REFME which got my citations correct nearly every time. I'm going to be a lot harsher than some of the other reviewers. I cannot stand your substandard software, the adware, having to download my bibliography to DOCX, out of three references your program has so far completed 0 correctly. I even preferred the look of REFME- which was cheerful looking and perked me up when I was knee deep in books. Grrrrrrr just rubbish
This app brought RefMe and destroyed my life, it is useless and can't even pick up papers from Nature or NCBI.
This used to be an excellent tool. Yes sometimes it doesn't work but it was no bother to amend slightly the referencing format. However, this tool no longer works and I am unable to cite any page, with the extension directing me to the website
Awful, never gets it correct
awesome .... just awesome..
It's okay ish as long as you know that it doesn't do citations correctly very often, that the extension only works half the time at best, and that you'll be manually entering most of the info each time. It's highly unfortunate that they bought RefMe. The RefMe extension, app, and site all work infinitely better. Very sad to see them go.
Never gives correct or accurate information. An article could clearly say article author and cite me would say "anon"
best to write thesis and to add references it helped too much while i was writing my research paper
im in english class theyre making me use this... ahhh.. im bored
Great idea. Great app. Can you please add IEEE citation style though?!
awesome!!
Absolutely love it. This saved me from getting behind in my project.
This helps me out and it cuts down on the amount of time I have to spend on big projects so I am so glad that this even exists.
If only it had vancouver citation.
