I'd love to revise my rating to 5* but I have an issue with the way this works in Edge (yeah I know, but I'm trying to earn MS Points!) ... Basically, it just doesn't behave well with vertical tabs, most time I can only get them sorted if I temporarily disable the vertical feature. It also doesn't seem to play nice with tab suspenders like Marvelous Suspender, once a tab has actually been unloaded. That said, I very often have 100's of tabs open and this can be a life saver!
It looks like the issue with Tab Groups has been resolved.
exactly what i was looking for!!
I love the extract this domain feature but the sort order from 'sort this window' leaves something to be desired at least for me... a number of the websites I use have a url format of www.domain.com/author/storych# or www.domain.com/author/story/ch# and I was looking for a way to group the stories of a given author together and if I have multiple chapters of the same story open to group those together within the grouping with the author
Does exactly what I need!
The extension itself was handy before the appearance of chrome tabs. It doesn't work with them and breaks sorting
Simple yet essential to get my tabs under control. Without it, my tabs are like a giant hairball!
Good tool but "sort this window" is broken and I have tons of huge windows some of which are already sorted in groups so this is annoying.
Not the sort I was looking for. I wanted to sort by date/time tab created I guess it sorts alphabetically by domain? I have no idea.
This extension does a good job at sorting, but not exactly in the way you may have wanted it to be. It messed up all the tabs across all my windows. The buttons don't really work well, is buggy and messes everything up. Taking tabs out of tab groups too.
does exactly what's on the tin, very very useful
Love it! The only improvement I want to see is to support shortcut keys
This is okay. It gets things close to what I want and that helps a bit, but as far as I can tell it only sorts by page title. I really need something that is more flexible and with a saner default. My preference would be to sort by domain, then subdomain, then by page title, though in some cases I might want to sort by URI instead, or even by a named parameter, positional parameter, or off of a regex result of any of the above. I realize that's a pretty full list of desired features, but even one or two would be a huge improvement.
Why does the "Sort This Window" setting only work sometimes...??? Other two settings seem to work perfectly.
A lifesaver for a tab addict like me! It serves an Essential function. You have to click the button twice or thrice for it to "listen" but that's no huge bother to me. What I REALLY wish is that it could 'interpret' the modified URLs used by tab-pausing, memory-saving apps like The Marvellous Suspender -- or, even better, add some kind of "rules list" where we could define our own more specific sorting rules ( so we could just say <ignore the first # letters of urls that start with "xyz"> ) which would future-proof this kind of thing. Keep up the great work!
Still one of my most used extensions since i always have to many tabs, as other write it has a bug that "Sort This Window" doesnt alwas work. As a workaround i move all tabs of my current window besides one to a new window, works for me then.
Would be great, but the "Sort this window" button quite often sorts a different window completely! Annoying, because a) it appears that nothing has happened, and b) it's quietly made a mess of another window.
I wish this was built-in and expanded. Chrome's new beta feature to allow you to manually sort tabs seems like it misses a whole opportunity to make organizing tabs simpler and less manual work. It'd be great to get these options added to the context menu of a tab.
Thank you!
Works just as I wanted it to, thanks
As others have noted, you need to press the button multiple times. Not twice, but an arbitrary number. And still it won't sort correctly. This extension aims to do one thing, and does it badly.
Would like the ability to sort pinned tabs also.
EDIT: love the new version, this is perfect now with the first-click fix! Stopped working in Chrome 69, please fix.
Works ok, but never the first time.
No longer sorts pinned tabs, but works otherwise.
Very handy for organizing tabs and discovering which ones you didn't realize you had multiples copies of open. Only knock against it is that it never works the first time I click the button to sort but I've learned to just click it twice. A bit annoying but still a very useful extension if you tend to keep a lot of tabs open.
Simple, lean, and works fine. Thanks
Works flawlessly. I'm a sorter of all things in general, but I'm also a tab fiend...so this extension has drammatically improved my workflow. For example, it makes it easy to see which tabs were left over from a Google search result vs. some first-party documentation I'm reviewing vs. GitHub repos. One suggestions: add ability to trigger "Sort Tabs" with a keyboard shortcut.
This should team up with Tab Menu to become THE ULTIMATE tab extension. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tab-menu/hjeifjagcmihmdcmnfjelgdgpibefmfc
Pretty good tool. I agree with the others. I have to click the 'sort tabs' option twice to get it to work properly. I'd like to know what criteria it uses to sort by, and it'd be nice to change the sorting criteria. such as sort by domain, or sort by title. something like that would be a great addition.
It'd be nice if you could set how many domain levels to extract to ... for example the deviantart site uses artistname.deviantart.com so when i try to extract the deviantart domain i'm only getting the tabs of a single artist but aside from that its a great tool
Works almost perfectly. The only issue is that I have to select to sort tabs twice before it actually sorts them. This happens for both the sort all tabs and sort current window.
I can only get it to work sorting ALL tabs, not sorting one window. I work with multiple windows across multiple monitors, and most of them I have organized a certain way for efficiency. There are only a couple windows that I want to sort. So, if it functioned as stated, it would be very useful, but all or nothing doesn't help. I also see some people saying it sorts alphabetically AND by domain, but I'm not getting that, it's sorting everything mixed. Is there a setting I'm missing?
Pros: - Helps you organize tabs where the titles are cut off - Provides hard to find functionality Cons: - You have to click the button over and over again
Perfect!!!! Just what I am looking for. Runs well. Does what it says. Excellent Extension!
Great for tab pack rats like me.
'Man, it would be nice if Chrome allowed you to sort your tabs by domain' OH SHIIIIIIIIT I rate this 5/5 Chromes
coooooooooooool
This is exactly what I was looking for. It automatically sorts your tabs and groups them both by alphabetical order and domain name.
Very useful, thanks. This is much better than Tab Grouper.
