Doesn't work.
Sadly "by Google" become notorious to be abandonware and a reason to avoid.
Doesn't work anymore. Seems Google is no longer maintaining this. Shame.
Just a shoddy pile of links to other services. Not a good way to manage feeds.
This isn't really a review as much as a question. I've had the RSS feed for years on IE as a drop down menu but I can't seem to get that on Chrome or Edge. I do not like the full page RSS and want my drop down back now that IE is no longer supported. Any ideas please.
"Insert %s in the url..." I'm sorry what? Why do I need to do this?
Doesn't render the feed preview fully.
No se puede ni seleccionar cada cuanto tiempo quiero que se actualice....
Doesn't seem to work in Google Chrome on my latest Chromebook update (actually never got it to work period.....) - there used to be an RSS icon in the address bar that would "auto detect" RSS feeeeds on the current page...? But it doesn't appear....
Dec 2020: It's nearly 2021 and the description still says "upon finding one will display an RSS icon in the Omnibox." This hasn't been true for years -- Google's Chrome developers chose to break it, and the Google extension team is still pretending it works. Nov 2018: Had been great for years but now the icon is often orange even on pages with no feeds. That kills most of the value of the extension.
not supported any more
A weird extension that asks you which other RSS news readers you'd like to open the RSS feed with.
Simple and works well. Finally updated to include Inoreader and Feedly by default!
Except nothing goes out of it
too complicated
This is a good extension for google chrome, I recommend this extension.
good
I foolishly tried and tried to get this to work ... 'before I read other reviews.' There are many other RSS readers that do work great on the chrome webstore though.
Tells me that no data were sent, over and over. Useless.
awesome
no longer works
Can't seem to subscribe to anything via Bloglines.
This extension isn't even working anymore. Why have it up if its not functional?
What a piece of junk. It doesn't work, there's no documentation and there's no support.
It used to work great. Nowadays, though, it doesn't even return the RSS feed's URL. The only thing it'll display is an error message. But, it does light up, in the presence of an RSS feed. So, I install this, to indicate the presence of an RSS feed. And I install the Get RSS Feed URL extension (which doesn't light up), to acquire the actual URL. Then I copy and paste that into Feedly. Because, well, because that's what Google requires.
Fierce!
Doesn't work.
Please remove this non-functional, outdated, useless extension. Thank you.
Seems to only give you a choice of two readers to subscribe to and I don't use either.
No idea how to use it. Bot bored trying
No option to launch an external RSS reader. Using Firefox instead.
I am trying to fill out an application for the state. I was told by the computer to download your system. I personally HATE it. It has gotten me nowhere.
Rate this extension Your rating: Loved it
RSS feeds were going strong until Google came along to do it. I and many other switched to the google software long enough for the other feed reader efforts to fail. Then google dropped it's own support. This is right out of the Microsoft playbook: embrace and extinguish. It's just as evil when Google does it as when Microsoft did. Shame Google.
Wanna use my offline RSS reader. It's not supported.
doesn't allow you to get the url.
Not working.
Doesn't work at all
Mostly doesn't work anymore
Does Not display publication dates!
This does exactly what I wanted, but now that it is forced to show on my toolbar 100% of the time (rather than just on pages with feeds), I am removing it until that gets fixed.
Most useful rss tool by Google long ago, but now I can also help to find RSS feed in pages but with out of time RSS reader. Now I am using Inoreader, and it don't support. Hope google open source this extension. I think I can help to fix.
Keeps crashing. Just replaced it with Feedly Subscribe Button. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/feedly-subscribe-button/gbbnddjfcllebfcnihfgmdplgaiejepc
Impossible to use an external program without manual editing URL this extension offers. Last update was two years ago which speaks for itself.
Its simple and does the job, you nead to configure your own rss readers.
Google's RSS extension is outdated and needs to be deleted. AMong the most egregious problems is the default to Bloglines, a site that went dark in early 2015. Over a year an one half ago. Please somebody at Google wake up. And please provide RSS natively in Chrome.
Effective. You need to manually add whatever reader you are -- ADD then NAMEOFREADER and in URL http://www.NAMEOFREADER.com/?add_feed=%s (go to your reader and find out what its subscribe url is) For examply my reader is Inoreader hence http://www.inoreader.com/?add_feed=%s
When you click on RSS feed icon, you will get only "Bloglines" and "My Yahoo" sites. But you can add more sites if you click on "Mange" option. For e.g. add feedspot with the following URL... http://www.feedspot.com/search?type=site&q=%s
It simple does not work. It is a dead duck. This idea has died. This thing is extinct. With apologies to the Monty Python dead parrot sketch.
Was okay for awhile, but since I started using the Feedly mini button, found this unnecessary.
Using this service .Good
Useless... If I wanted to use Yahoo...
no longer functional.
no bloglines....so it's useless unless you have a Yahoo account
Not working. Something by Google is not working?
An RSS feed reader that won't read feeds. What a clever idea.
Useless now because Google gimped PageActions, so it doesn't automatically show you when a page has an RSS feed anymore. Thanks google!
Thank you
Doesn't work-- no instructions... Maybe it would work if I could figure out how to add the URL...
It doesn't work correctly for Persian sites. also doesn't work on Facebook RSS Notification.
This does not work, ever! The worst.
Needs the ability to add feeds to desktop readers.
No longer works.
good!
It didnt even show up on the bar. Just awaful
Pretty good, but it doesn't include any services to subscribe with anymore that actually still exist.
good
It doesn't work.
Doesn't work.
Good to get it restored.
It doesn't work. I guess I'm back to Firefox.
This app doesn't work. After adding to chrome, I click on it and it disappears. Trying something else. Why is it so hard to find a decent feed reader?
Has stopped working, I can see that it has 6 feeds on it but I can not open the feed reader at all.
Cumbersome. The way firefox does it is much better with live bookmarks.
Half hearted attempt... If you click to see a feed, the 'back' is disabled! So you can't get back to the actual page! Really, really stupid.
Google wrote this? Why won't they reply about RSS reader incompatibilities?
I've used this extension for years, but I think it's time for it to go. This is the only extension I have that never improves and has a tendency to crash; it crashes just often enough that I'm sick of it. I suppose Google can't be bothered improving it in any way, given that they're dead-set on seeing the death of open syndication. Use Inoreader or NewsBlur. They'll grab RSS feeds from a website URL.
Spot On, Plain Ol' RSS!
Nice Extension...!!!
Doesn't work. Bloglines is down.
Adding a new feed reader to the subscription list doesn't seem to persist between sessions for me, making the extension unusable.
Please Google, give RSS some support in Chrome!! This extension won't work since it's now May and it relies on Bloglines which has been shut down since April.
i love it
Weird. Now that it's "added to chrome" it's nowhere to be found. You can add all you want but you can't find the app to play the podcast next time you open Chrome.
doesn't work at all
is this really "by Google"?
why explain
Doesn't work! If it is no longer usable, why keep offering it?
Doesn't work. I have to switch browsers to use RSS feeds.
doesn't work anymore
Cannot see that this extension working
No good. Want a drop down live feed - you know, like Firefox has.....
Fails to work on Windows 8.1 with the latest Chrome updates. Is also still quite frustrating to use.
Yep, added it, clicked the RSS feed button on the page I wanted and Voila! perfection! I tried at least 3 other options before finally this one was super easy and worked so well.
This saves a lot of trouble searching new sites for feed links, which are often hard to find or even unlisted. Simple and well-executed, I love it. Thank you!
i cannot organize feed
great! love it
Where is it?
A half-hearted attempt at best, it's not pre-configured for any current RSS readers and as others have said the Bloglines link doesn't even work.
did not work
stupid, it doesn't work
I've enabled this extension but there is no RSS icon. Where is it?
