I've never written a review for a chrome extension before, but felt compelled to say that this one (Save as PNG) works awesome every time for me and I love it! Thanks to the developer! Webp's be GONE!

it stopped working for 48 h now

Used to be perfect, but it's abruptly stopped working and just displays an "Invalid filename" error when I try to use it. Pity

This is a simple and super useful extension. However, one thing it needs really bad is to remember the last save location. Every time you save it starts from the download folder and you have to browse to the destination every time, kind of ruins work flow.

This one I reccomend to use if you're tired of the extension file being downloaded as JFIF or WEBP Whenever I download any image straight off from Twitter, it wants me to save it as JFIF instead of JPG, and goes to Fandom/Wikia when it wants me to download as a WEBP file. I founded this extension from Twitter, it's really useful.

Totally useless, it don't remember in which folder you want to save a image it always come back to the default folder ( and not the default folder of chrome, the default download folder of your pc, no matter if you have setup chrome downloads in a other folder

works great, bit annoying being at the bottom of the right click list, but at least my reddit yiff saves as a viewable file and not a webp/html file

i love how this extension still works to this day after not being updated since 2014.

This extension is very useful and pretty underrated. I checked the source code, there's nothing malicious and it works great!

Useful for saving images that are originally in webp format. Although AdwCleaner flags this extension as a PUP.

THANK GOD THIS ACTUALLY EXIST I HAVE THIS HORRIBLE VERSION OF WINDOWS 11 THAT REFUSES TO LET ME ACTUALLY DOWNLOAD A PNG, INSTEAD YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT HAS A .WebP THEN CONVERT IT TO A PNG WHICH COMPLETELY RUINS TRANSPARACY. THANK YOU!

Works like a charm! WEBP format bypassed and image saved as PNG. Opened right up in Photoshop without the "cannot parse file" error and didn't lose transparency. Quick, effective remedy to a daily annoyance. Thanks!

Would have gotten 5/5 stars if it remembered which folder you saved the last image to when saving an image.

I've been using it for months and it's worked great, but yesterday it stopped working completely.

I remember when Chrome 1st did the stupid change, there was a few workarounds to stop the bs of saving as webp. Not anymore. At this point, I give up on fighting them. Searched for a better, easier solution and came across this wonderful extension. Works great, saves time, I made sure it's on all my systems. Done trying to figure it out and now using this awesome fix. Problem Solved.

Folder thing is a bit annoying as mentioned in other reviews, but it's a must have with how many websites such as Reddit and most of Google Images have switched to .webp as of late.

It works 75% of the time

So I was pretty mad about not being able to download images from a fandom website without them being .webp files, so I installed this extension. I was then able to download images as a .png without any problems. 10/10 extension, would recommend

Works great! And last I saw the developer who created this plugin works for Mozilla so he knows what he's doing.

Always defaults to the location set in Settings > Advanced > Downloads instead of the last folder saved to like Chrome's native downloader does it (with "Ask where to save each file before downloading" checked).

Does what it says it does. Avoid downloading webp and now download pngs.

It's okay, work for some, not for others. The most annoying part is that when it DOES work, it does not remember the file location you just saved to, it just defaults to downloads, always....

Have had no issues with this extension, it's a massive time saver!! For anyone unsure on how to use it, remember it adds an option to your right click menu, so right click the image and click Save Image as PNG. I have found myself forgetting this a few times and trying to find the option in the plugin menu on the top right of browser.

Don't understand Why some much hate this Extension is completely free and of course it's not going to be Flawless, for the people hating on it cause it does not work on some Websites like Wix, or really unknown ones I'm sorry but for everyone else Amazing! Does break down again but easy to fix just remove and add back.

This is nearly a perfect extension for me. Copying and pasting a picture into an editing program then saving as PNG is such a hassle. However, there's 2 main issues with this extension. 1. It should remember the last place you saved a picture. Normally when you save a picture (without the extension), the next time you save another picture, it'll take you to the last folder you saved to. Starting at the downloads folder every time is a waste of time and goes against why I sought out an extension like this in the first place. 2. For some reason, when I have this extension installed on a secondary user on Chrome and use it, it causes Chrome to be unresponsive for about 15-20 seconds and its RAM usage gradually goes up until it reaches 4-5gb. Afterwards everything goes back to normal and it doesn't happen again at all, until you restart the browser. It happens on the first save every single time you open your browser anew. This issue is also present on Brave, even though I have no more than 1 user there. Right now I only have this extension installed on my first user on Chrome and nowhere else so this issue is not present.

Works well, haven't had any real issues. It's a bit annoying that it automatically opens the download bar when an image is saved, but it's not a huge deal.

"An error occurred while loading https://i.pximg.net/......." Was an awesome tool to have while it worked, but Pixiv found a way to disable it with their last update?

This is one of my frequently used extensions, However, it does not save files to the previous folder and always point to the Downloads folder. It becomes very inefficient to save multiple files on the same page to the same location. Please fix this and it will be a great tool.

I have used this literally thousands of times for work. It works about 98% of the time. Sometimes it'll futz up and say something about a file extension or something and I have to uninstall and re-install the plugin (and then restart the browser) to fix it, but that doesn't happen often. Works on both Edge and Chrome.

Worked immediately! I installed it, went back to my tab with the image open, saw "save as png" and got it saved.

C'mon guys... What can be better than this? I can save any image from any website as png for photoshop work! Highly recommended!

Would like to remember download folder as others mentioned. But it worked perfectly in my case. Trying to get images from Wix is failing because of the way they have their layout. It's not really an image that the plugin can access in the way Wix is doing it. That's not a plugin issue, that's Wix being Wix.

It's very inconvenient that every time you start a new save, you're taken to the downloads folder instead of the last folder you saved to. Would be 5 stars otherwise.

it does seem to save images as a png, but is SO annoying because everytime i save another image, it tries to save it in the downloads folder rather than the previous folder i saved to. Since i need to save many images, this is very very annoying and time consuiming to have to navigate to the correct folder every time!!!

Allows saving Web image as a more common file, but, it does not save to the last save location. Each new save defaults to Downloads. This is extremely annoying and wastes time.

I installed this as I wanted to save a particular image and it simply doesn't work. If I try to save from the actual site I get a 'Failed - Network error' which is nonsense as the image wouldn't show up in the first place if there was a network issue. If I save the .WEBP page to my local drive, open that in Chrome and try to save the image, I get 'An error occurred while loading file:///C:/{path_to_image}.webp'. So, in summary, it's useless, or has limitations that aren't documented.

Used to be a great 5/5 Extension but now it just pops up with "Failed - Network error" (note: nothing is wrong with my internet) Saving the image normally works and downloads still work. Extension is broken right now.

It works fine and is really useful. The only thing I wish I could do is set the default download location. Right now it points to my downloads folder and I want it to default to another directory. Is there any way to do this? Thanks!

Does what it says, quickly and easily, I only wish it removed the download location, it's fine if using the downloads folder but if I want to save elsewhere, ie Direct to a USB drive I have to select it each time.

I really like this addon so far because I save a lot of images from various sites and some of them use the webp format which sucks because nearly nothing recognizes that file type. I would think if Google wants to make a new type, they would give out the codec everywhere for it so everything else can open the file. It appears logic is in short supply even in multi billion dollar companies. So the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I can't seem to find anywhere, how to change the default save folder setting. I save a lot of stuff and I like to keep it all organized on my machine so everytime I use this to save something, it goes back to the same folder over and over. Is there any way to change this setting? And if not, will it be added later?

It's very helpful for all the bloggers who have to suffer from webhp image format that their websites don't support. This extension comes handy at that time.

Works occasionally, which is why it's not one star. But it's mostly worthless.

Didn't work saving a webp. Told me there was a problem with the file format which is odd considering its sole purpose is to convert webp files to png.

It refuses to even try to save a file on my WIX site, claiming an illegal filename. While the filename provided by WIX is long and obnoxious (hardly surprising in a site builder), there's nothing illegal about it by any reasonable definition. So the extension doesn't help me at all. Didn't work for me, got "Failed-System busy" or it crashed.

Can't get it to start. There's a warning that says "This item has been disabled in Chrome". When I click Enable nothing happens.

Does not work, simply opens the Chrome store page for the extension.

Really happy with this, thank you! Love the fact that it automatically adds "(1)" if the file name is the same as one previously saved.

Very useful if you use Google Plus. But there is one annoying bug in this tool and the others made by the same developer. The tool doesn't remember the folder an image is being saved to. Therefore, if you have to save several images, you have to locate the folder, over and over, because it defaults to the windows download folder. I hope the developer reads this and fixes it because it would make it perfect.
