This is useless. I've tried using it to watch Pekora and Botan yet no translations have ever come up. While this is useful, due to how few people ever translate the talent I watch, this add-on is completely and utterly useless.

The custom filters is the most broken piece of s**t i have ever seen. It chooses to work once in a blue moon i guess.

Hi! I just added this extension and it doesn't seem to be translating anything on Twitch. Is there an additional setting that needs to be changed?

At first I was looking for something to capture english text for streams that go by pretty quick but seeing it in action I chose to instead mainly use it to cut on CPU, GPU, and RAM consumption. High volume chat tends to create memory of over 1 gb to 2 gh over time (say 30-45min). Forcing me to either kill tab and refresh or open a new tab and paste the address to reset the memory. With this however, I had multiple streams opened at the same time without it breaking 400-500 mb each tab. This is great news for me! Seems the chat displaying people's avatar image might be the culprit. Had Hyperchat on. The downside to this is that it messes with people special superchat message and stuff. I'd prefer if that wasn't touched at all.

10/10 would recommend. Does everything it promises. Very solid extension with hyperchat, which perfomorms dramatically better than the stock youtube

Ever since 2.5 fixed the delay issue there is literally no reason not to use this over default Youtube chat. Fantastic extension.

Does as described. An overall great app with the read aloud function, I realized how much I've come to rely on it for streams I want to multitask during. Recently when read aloud mode is on it reads everything twice or more.

while the bloating of the app seems to have gone down the bugs seem to have multiplied the app will now sometimes randomly crash showing that the stream has ended when it hasnt cause excessive buffering that does not show up with the app not running and sometimes force the stream to randomly reload the issue with the same TLs showing up two to three times has returned and some TLs despite being labelled correctly are still being missed by the app entirely

The hyperchat function really helps on saving CPU especially with YT chat's profile pics being the main cause of it. Controls are quite easy to understand. The staff are quite friendly on their discord, especially Kento

The reliance on hyperchat is the main issue. It states "it may take a few seconds for messages to start appearing" but takes over 60 seconds with an i7 & 32GB of RAM, meaning chat is always delayed by over a minute, making the extension unusable.

There's never any translations? I've been to multiple streams and nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

Giving this 5 stars because it does its job, and does it well : streamlining live translations, when they are available, on a livestream. That said, I've been experiencing the problem of Chrome and Chromium-based browsers freezing whenever I try to close a livestream tab (whether the stream's over or otherwise). By pure chance, Chrome crashed on me a few days ago, disabling this extension (as well as Hyperchat) and I haven't had the aforementioned problem ever since. I hope the developer will look into this, as I find both this extension and the Hyperchat to be indispensable to those who are fans of multiple livestreamers on Youtube. Furthermore, the issue has been a rather recent one for me. Until then, I guess I'll just have to make do without live translations and tolerate Youtube's RAM-guzzling default chat window.

The liveTL part works well, but the Hyperchat part (which is installed alongside LiveTL and is thankfully not mandatory) is very disappointing. Hyperchat fully changes how youtube chat looks, and all changes seem to be for the worst: - Removes avatars - Makes the text smaller and less readable - Adds alternating black and gray background to messages which is a good intention, but the gray is too bright, vibrates with green usernames and adds too much visual clutter and impairs readability - Chat messages are misaligned vertically within their background boxes, either up or down, always off center - Pressing chat function buttons such as "toggle timestamps" breaks the functionality outright. - Most important: No options to tweak the visual presentation of the chat. tldr hyperchat has very poor presentation and is a direct visual downgrade to the original chat.

THEATER MODE

It does what is expected of it and have various settings to have it how you like.

Edit2: New update improved a lot of stuff and fixed the previous bugs. Edit: The problem is fixed, but now covers a wider area and shows normal messages from those users as well (for example, without the prefix [EN]). I'll keep it at 4 stars since it still shows translations and makes youtube streams way more convenient and easy to watch. Original: Convenient. Doesn't always work. Even copy pasting the user's name to the filter list doesn't show their translations. I've only seen it in Robocco's streams with 1 specific user (their name was "Boxi"-something) and in one Fubuki's apex stream (name: Des P. / デスパン). Both usernames had japanese characters in their name which might be the cause, but manually putting them in filter list should have at least worked.

i mostly use this for the hyperchat extension, and while I apprecate the decreased CPU consumption, the alternating grey-white messages are really hard to read, and the blue mod names blend in with the grey so I tend to miss some messages from other vtubers or their mods

It's great, I just have to be patient with it and it does it's job

It does what it is advertised and works really well, would recommend it to people watching yt streams of non-english youtube streamers, especially if there is someone dedicated to translating what the streamer is saying in chat.

I must dislike it. In the new update, I can no longer watch streams in full screen and also open TL. Please fix it!!!!!!!!!!!

Haven't tested the translation highlight feature, but the livestream chat redesign is perfect. It is compact yet visible, and really does improve the livestream experience.

There's never any translators in HoloJP's chats so this extension is ultimately useless. But from what I can gather, this does what it says it does so.... Kudos. I guess.

Extremely useful when watching my anime waifus. Now I can understand them while they are live.

Amazing extension! But it's design could've been way better, especially the blue "enable hyperchat" button just feels off. I usually delete it with the inspect tool but doing it every time is tiresome so in the end I end up disabling the extension most of the time. For reference, I'm using YouTube (dark mode), not the LiveTL layout. Also I don't know if it's intended or not but it changes YouTube icon to a blue "BL" one (even in bookmarks), which is kinda irritating too.

Worth it alone for it reducing the memory load of the chat. I always wondered why my stream exploded when I wanted to drop some emojis in the chat. Problem fixed the free translations that appear are just extra value. You like Hololive? You like this.

Epic plus the new chat cpu saver is great and it works

Works great. Latest update to it seems to over-write YouTubes site icon on Bookmarks and Tabs.. which is kind of annoying. It shows a Blue square with BL in it. Disabling the addon makes it go away. Edit: Fixed in 5.0.4

does what it aims to do. Certain spam/emote heavy streams such as Coco's are always hard to catch translations from and this extension helps out a lot. In addition, the viewing experience is a lot better thanks to the extension maximizing the amount of space that the video and chat box uses unlike youtube which leaves really large gaps and terrible layout. Thank you devs for the helpful extension!

Not popular enough

Excellent extension. Issue going on with it for me in particular. When I use LiveTL I am getting the following message " Chat disconnected. Please wait while we try to reconnect you. Unable to connect to chat. Please try again later. " I also use ytcFilter, LiveJimaku and Chat Selector for YouTube Live. I isolated the issue to ytcFilter and LiveTL being incompatible when using one or the other. Not sure what is causing the interference but it just started happening today as of 1/20/2020 8:am or so EST. I also left a review with basically the same information on ytcFilter. I do not want to choose between one or the other if anyone has time to take a look. Thanks for your time. Thank you for the extension.

This app is SO USEFUL. I cannot state enough how impressed I am by a simple concept put into action. My great appreciation goes out to the creators of this plugin, and the translators who choose to actively help out in translating livestreams for others' entertainment -- I cannot thank you enough! I'm glad I'm now able to be a part of something I love, regardless of the language barrier. I really would highly recommend this plugin to anyone who watches livestreams/VODs of streamers who do not speak their native language. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!! :)

It does exactly of what it was meant for. A big reminder for new users: This is not an actual live translation software, its basically filtered out the live chat on stream to those who does translation.

This does exactly what it needs to, works well and has been very reliable so far. I've had minor issues with replay streams, but as far as I can tell that's Youtube not replaying live chat very well, and not an issue with the extension - ytc filter has the same problems, and is quite a bit more annoying to set up properly.
