DO NOT INSTALL They secretly added Google Analytics tracking that *tracks every page you visit*. Their "privacy policy" claims they do not do this. This is illegal under GDPR so any EU citizen using this Extension could file a complaint against them.
DOES NOT WORK! Other reviewers say the same exact thing. Maybe this worked at one point but it no longer works now. Very frustrating. I rarely write reviews but I wanted to warn anyone thinking about downloading and installing this to their chrome browser - don't do it. It's a complete waste of time. Sorry to burst your bubble but it doesn't work. I wrote this on 10/14/22. Thanks!
Doesn't seem to work, at all.
Has google analytics that tracks EVERY single page you visit. Reported.
Does not work and many of the 5 star reviews are obviously fake.
Very high cpu usage for no clear reasons. Disabled and CPU usage went down immediately. This does not always happen but I have no clue what would trigger high CPU usage. So I just turn it on when necessary, which is rare.
Be aware they add their own google analytics tracking to every single site you open so they're tracking everything you do.
Simply doesn't work. Clicking the toolbar icon: nothing happens. Using the context menu option: nothing happens. Straight up uninstall. Not worth the time to install!
This plugin exhausts my CPU in the background even when I'm not using it at all. Either there is a bug in the plugin or the plugin is mining crypto coins without consent.
This plugin does work in the sense that it shows EXIF data, along with histogram data. It does not show all EXIF data though...only specific fields, so some EXIF data is not shown. Would prefer to see all EXIF data, or at least the option for it. Unfortunately when it comes to security, it's pretty sloppy. It really needs a security audit to determine just how vulnerable, but in a few minutes I was able to find the following issues. I'll break down my rating like this: - Functionality: 4 - Interface: 3 - Security: 1 Total rating with weight on Security: 2 It sends and retrieves data to 9(!) different domains via insecure connections (http instead of https), with no disclosure in the plugin description. These are contacted either by XML HTTP Request (XHR) silently in the browser background without your knowledge, or they have an HTML link. (Most are by XHR.) When you don't use a secure internet connection - https (SSL/TLS) - any website/URL you visit could be a hacker imitating that site and stealing your data (auth cookies, private data, etc) - it's called a Man in the Middle Attack. Also, your data is not encrypted so it's flying around the internet in clear text and you increase your chance of getting hacked and leaking privacy info. Even if you think that the target domain will just redirect your link or XHR to a secure version of the URL, you would be wrong, because it could get intercepted before it even gets to the target site, and then redirected to any site, without your knowledge. In the plugin's code I found the following 9(!) domains accessed via http (insecure) connection instead of https (secure) connection. api.flickr.com cdn.sstatic.net code.google.com dl.comsoc.org maps.google.com ns.adobe.com stackoverflow.com tiny.cc www.google.com In addition, the following 8 domains are accessed via a secure connection (https): ajax.googleapis.com dl.dropboxusercontent.com dsnet.bitbucket.io gapps-61f4c.firebaseapp.com ssl.google-analytics.com www.dpreview.com www.google-analytics.com www.paypal.com That's 17 domains being accessed! That's a lot for one Chrome extension. There's also a lot of room for security issues when you're dealing with that many....it's just not necessary. URL shorteners in the code: tiny.cc In addition to not being a secure URL, this is an obscured link via a URL shortener...terrible security practice for an extension or plugin. The destination URL should be transparent. (At least the domain.) User data is being tracked by Google Analytics. I find that pretty offensive and refuse to use extensions that do this. I know devs/authors may be allowed to do this, but from a privacy point of view it's a terrible idea to use analytics software in an extension without any kind of notice, and without any opt-out capability!! Definitely not GDPR compliant! One last point on security: The plugin contains an image saying it's certified to not have malware, viruses, etc. I find that a little offensive considering just how poor its security is. Having an image like that can create a false sense of security for users. (It's actually what red-flagged me to look through the code, as it seemed odd.) Not ok. To be clear, this was not a security audit, just some quick notes. It needs a real security audit performed. However, I've seen enough issues to not use this plugin. I would recommend you not use it either until it gets a security overhaul.
Works good!
Does nothing except take up disk space. Right clicking on images does nothing. Removed!
Rubbish, flashes up info then goes straight to adverts.
Nice tool. Especially the possibility to view geo coordinates on google map is top.
Did not work for me.
Ерунда. Не показывает огромное количество данных, которые есть!
It kills browser performance.
Stopped working in Chrome
Very nice
Did not work for me :/
Nice extensions. To use it, right click on the image and select Show Exif data.
I click the icon and nothing happens
It has taken me about few months to get the bottom of it finally. It took me some troubleshooting to pinpoint this extension as the root cause of numerous broken sites. I have always thought it's google or my settings. For the developer, you can try loading http://www.flysas.com/en and click on the date field. It would not show up with the extension turn on.
Finding it difficult to read mid-grey on light grey! Everything else good so far
Since the v2.3.5 release it injects custom stylesheets that break some sites.
- Not able to open PDF files - Broken PayPal site - Injects custom stylesheets (which break my site) - ... Took my VERY LONG TIME to discover culprit :(
This extension sometimes causes requirejs.mismatch error on some specific websites. e.g. www.digitec.ch Anything else is good.
Yup. Breaks Chrome PDF viewer.
bugs pdfs can only view pdfs with extension disabled
Useful, but breaks several websites, for example plugshare.com, and many others mentioned in other reviews.
Prevents PDF opening
This is an extension I would love to use but it stops loading of pdf files in the browser, so has to go. And no reply from the developer as it has been reported multiple times.
This extension doesn't work. I clicked the gray icon on my toolbar, then clicked "EXIF Viewer", and it just brought up the page for the EXIF Viewer extension in the chrome web store, but I can't figure out how to make it show actual EXIF data.
Something changed, I cannot view PDFs anymore using the embedded chrome viewer. Disabling the plugin for now.
This is by far the best, most informative EXIF viewer I've ever used. Seems way better than the other one by the same name.
Caused various web pages to crash and I could no longer open pdf files. Lots of time lost on this.
This EXIF Viewer Chrome extendion caused me several weeks of trouble until I found the solution. ================ This extension blocked my access to OneDrive when using the Chrome browser. ================ After DISABLING this extension, I was able to access OneDrive. ================ If other users have trouble accessing any websites, they may find it useful to disable this extension. I have now removed this extension.
Liked the Histogram. The interface is nice, but i'd like to be able to read the full exif parameters at once, and I have to scrool down. But it's the better exif reader to Chrome i've tested.
Suddenly I could not open pdf files any more in chrome. After disabling the plugin I could open pdf files again.
This extension prevented itunesconnect.com from loading. Error: Uncaught Error: Mismatched anonymous define() module: function (){return $} http://requirejs.org/docs/errors.html#mismatch I had yet to find a photo with much EXIF data, but I assume the extension functions properly.
Best EXIF viewer I've seen when it works, but with two flaws that make it unusable: (1) Can't open PDFs any more (2) Conflicts w/ RequireJS cause some pages to crash. Devs, I reproduced both these cases and it is certainly this extension that causes it. Reach out to me and I'll give you more details if necessary.
Blocks PDF-Viewer, please fix it.
Unfortunately there currently exists a bug in this extenstion that causes PDFs not to be displayed. Otherwise it's a good plugin. Please fix this bug!
With this extension enabled Chrome stopped showing PDF documents.
Discovered that this extension is responsible for all kinds of problems with Chrome, from PDFs not loading to interfering with sites that are loading data in the background (e.g. a particular annoyance is that it breaks multiple functionality within the PayPal site, including the transaction history and the new send money page).
Breaks PDF display.
Worked well for a long time but as others have noted it now prevents many pdf's from loading for some reason, took me a long time to narrow that down!
This extension breaks Chrome's ability to display PDFs inside the browser. Complete Junk!
When this extension is enabled, it blocks access to viewing PDF files in Chrome. It seems to interfere somehow with Chrome's build in PDF plugin. PDF's are just blank.
Breaks any website which uses Require JS.
As it doesn't work in my freshly installed Chrome with a local JPG image opened as a file - not opening any window with EXIF info whatsoever - nothing else but 1 star. The EXIF of the tested file is good, a similar plugin in Firefox displays the info.
Used to work great. Now breaks a number of web sites like Greentoe.com for one. Don't see how an exif viewer would do this but until it's fixed it's gone.
Used to be great but as reported by a number of other users, now stops a number of websites, including paypla, loading properly. UNINSTALLED :(
Broke my UniFi Controller, broke a bunch of other websites. I never would have suspected an exif viewer to be causing these problems, and wasted weeks suspecting uBlock and other such things.
It was good at one point but it breaks multiple sites including StubHub and Good.is.
So handy...
This plugin is preventing me from accessing the login page on the Nest and Udemy websites.
it is very powerful tool to help user to learn the photo detail from photographe
Tried to EXIF view several images - nothing happens.
Made MailChimp incapable of loading newsletter campaigns for editing. Now DISABLED here.
I dont understand how to use it. How do i see the exif data?
Был отличный плагин, а стал куском *овна.
The best image/picture details capture extension!! Love it..
Works well but seems to monitor all EXIF data, whether you ask for it or not, judging by how it slows down the browsing process. It's a handy app even though most people don't save images for the web to include much of the metadata.
gps tagging does not work
No longer works.
July 26th (1996)
gave it 1 star which is more than it deserves but thats the lowest google lets me rate it. Simply does not work.
I use it all the time but it is kind of annoying when it overflows pages and it just destroys the responsiveness of the website. Will definitely love the app otherwise. Hope to see a fix on this soon.
I'm just blown away with this tool - it's fantastic! Really high level standard and very useful. Just hope it won't crash as others mentioned.
The best from the 5 or 6 extensions I've tested. Histogram, exif and photo of the camera;) And this extension doesn't need any permissions from extensions like ScriptSafe.
Provided partial information only.
Used to be great. Now it doesn't work
it doesn't work.
Does not do anything when clicking on the context menu entry.
Not getting location of the photo ?
Ues to be great, but it hasn't worked for me in weeks.
Right click, click on View Exif and nothing happens
Awesome when it works (which is rare).
Not doing anything at all. Right click on the pic does not work
Doesn't seem to work.
sometimes crashes but otherwise very helpfull!
Seems to be getting better with ever version released - sometimes crashes, but can be re-loaded..
Appears to do nothing at all... Uninstalled after just a few minutes.
The extension is fine when it works properly. It always crashes for no reason...
doesn't really work
how do i see the geoloation?????????
sexy, but doesn't find all the EXIF datas ---- sexy, mais ne trouve pas toutes les données EXIF
It's a really awesome extension, good layout and design, nice information features. I can't say there's a better one available for Chrome. But there's a really bad drawback: when I open a site with too many pictures (like Big Picture), CPU goes crazy on 100% and entire Chrome becomes unresponsive until all the site is loaded. The only solution I found was disabling the extension :/
No longer works, options page is dead. Doesn't work
지금까지 써본 Exif 뷰어중 최고!!
The icon is not visible in my toolbar and there are no instructions about how to use this extension.
Crashes everytime I try to use it.
Does not seem to work
Sometimes works sometimes doesn't
Best Exif reader extension!
Really Cool extension, but please fix google service problem
Wasn't bad until it stopped working.
This is indeed awesome extension. I hope that version 2.2.5 released on 17.06 fixed gdrive woes.
Delete. Breakes Google sites, Google play install button and review sending dont work.
