When I try to use this it never works.
This does not work with Netflix audio.
Takes a little bit to get started, but works well. I noticed it will blank out the audio for whatever chunk of text is in the subtitle, not just the offending word. Have you considered integration with a service like put.io? That would really expand its utility! And thanks!
This filter is not working. I have added the words, in the format provided and saved them. In the Netflix app, I have turned on the subtitles in Netflix and the profanity just continues. When I go to Netflix through the Chrome browser, the subtitles shrink to a strange line with, widely tiny spaced letters and there's no sound of voices at all. Please can someone help.
Hi! I am trying this for the first time and it is bleeping out every word lol. Can I get some advice?
Great app for teachers! Often documentaries are rated mature because of language which is unfortunate because there are so many good ones that cant be shown in class. This app allows me to share clips without worry. Thank you!
is there something i am supposed to do to activate this? I added the extension to chrome and restarted the browser but it isn't working. If there is something else I need to do to make it work I will make the changes and give a higher rating.
Does Not work/ Am typing it in correctly. \w*myword /w* DONT WORK on NETFLIX!! Total Rubbish.
This is amazing! Now I can watch anime cleanly safely! But problem is... I can't seem to add words to the list of blocked profanities. The dang thing (The plugin) is greyed out. ?
After I downloaded the extension, it was working I think but I'm not sure if I can recall that it was all the time but then when I tinkered with the options regarding the words that should not be allowed, it sometimes work (if my memory is correct) but I think it no longer does. Should I just undo what I did in the options?
Worked for some months, but recently stopped working and can't figure out why.
A bit buggy to set up at first but works great with a hidden subtitle extension! Thanks so much for making this :)
I just paid for this and there are not instructions on how to use it. It is not working.
i wanted it to filter the movie not just the subtitles if you the the off then you just hear the foul laguage
We had issues with watching Netflix, as all shows have profanity and uses the Lord's name in vain. Now we can watch without the profanity.
It works as advertised which is nice but I would like to know if there is a way for the audio to only blot out the audio of the blocked word and not the whole sentence and resume audio quicker?
I liked it very much, thanks, but its not working anymore , doesnt filter out the words anymore, please help, thanks.
It wouldn't work for me; I added words, checked and double checked that I formatted them correctly. I closed Chrome, even rebooted my computer. I made sure Netflix's subtitles were on, but the cussing still came right through. Am I doing something wrong? Please let me know! I'm using the Netflix browser (I tried the app you can download, too; didn't work), I have subtitles on, I restarted Chrome, I clicked save when I added words to the blacklist.
It doesn't work on Netflix. Tried all the help settings with no luck.
Great extension
Does what it needs to do! Fabulous.
It does not work
Please help... this extension is not working properly. Using the latest version of Chrome "76.0.3809.132 (Official Build) (64-bit)" on Windows 10 and with the Netflix English subtitles [CC] turned on with this extension active, it will play the audio and subtitles for just like one or two seconds, then all of the sudden the following two lines of code display on the screen very tiny ***<***s***p***a***n*** ***s***t***y***l***e***=***"***f***o***n***t***-***s***i***z***e***=***3***8***p***x***.***l***i***n***e***-***h***e***i***g***h***t***=***n***o***r***m**a***l*** and it goes on and there's another duplicate line below that. As soon as the code looking stuff appears real tiny across the screen in place of the larger subtitles, immediately the audio is silenced basically from then on. Is there a way to fix this?
A good idea (especially if you make subtitles smaller and transparent in the netflix settings) but too often it doesn't mute long enough. For example in "the making of the mob S1 E1" at 11:03 the filter kicks in for "oh" and stars out the following blaspheme but the audio kicks back in for the word it is trying to filter. A "duration of mute" option to extend it, or mute for the position of the word in the subtitles would be better. I played with the "ms" option for checking the subtitles but this just made it haphazard in the detection so isn't the answer. 2 words, the last one to me muted, mute for the latter 50% of the duration of the subtitle.
Worked good but now it doesn't.
Can you also make a youtube version for this? So it does the same thing for netflix as for youtube.
I can't get it to work
its ok just annoying it sensors the whole sentence not just the word
Worked on one computer & not on another. Both 64bit Win7, one works flawlessly, the other simply does not work (yes, I set them up the same - I even uninstalled & reinstalled it, no change). Wish it was reliable.
Great extension. Appreciate the efforts on this.
Not working...at all...
Great app, but needs the option to hide the subtitles. Thanks otherwise!
Blocks the subtitle swear word but not the audio.
Garbage!!! Did not work with subtitles and I find it completely dumb you need the subtitles on.
This works great. Thank you so much!
Added offending words and they still came through, loud and clear. Glad I tested before anyone else tried it out. I tried to copy and paste, I tried to manually enter, I tried saving after adding each line, and then saving after doing a bulk add. Nothing got this this to work. It's junk.
This extension works flawlessly. It works off of recognizing the words or phrases in the subtitles. So activate the subtitles in Netflix and then download a Chrome extension called "Remove Netflix Subtitles" and activate it. Once you add a word to the Netflix Profanity Filter, you will then need to "refresh" or "reload" the page of the movie you are currently playing.
used to work, now its not
Excellent app.
Works perfectly! Awesome plug-in!
For the most part it works great! Every now and then it will edit words that contain parts of profanity such as, "assume" or "helicopter." Overall, we enjoy being able to watch shows without having to hear the garbage.
Thank you so much! Works great. There is a chrome extension you can get that hides the subtitles for you. It is free (Remove Netflix Subtitles). Or you can buy Ufilter extension that does it all for you.
How do you even get to the screen to add the words? This is broken!!!
I like it a lot...Works as advertised! Does not work while chromecasting unless you cast desktop. but slows down dramatically.
Works as advertised and you can add your own words to the list in Options. Just copy and paste one of the other lines and change the word to a new word you want to block. Don't forget to click the SAVE button at the bottom when you're finished. And the last step is to ***THIS IS IMPORTANT*** restart Chrome. If you don't restart Chrome then your added words will not be muted. You MUST restart Chrome (close it and reopen it) for the list to be fully updated.
it only works on the computer and only on the words in the list already provided it should bleep all swear words without having to put them in. Netflix needs to get more family friendly and stop putting shows with swear words.
I was looking for something like this for Netflix. Great work! Could it ever work for chromecasting from desktop? I think probably not unless you share the whole screen.
doesn't work for some reason
Doesn't work with added words.
THANK YOU!!!
works for the default words but doesn't for words added personally.
Nice start. However, after adding words to the white list such as "pass" and "hello," the filter still cannot make exceptions for these white list words. When I go back into the extension options, the added words are not there anymore.
Works as advertised. It would be wonderful if one could make the subtitles invisible, so the folks who do not need or like the subtitles could view the show without having subtitles visible, and still filter the profanity. Great job, and is a good start!
It simply does not work.
