IT is my favorite tool to use....when it works. Randomly it doesn't work and it ends up wasting so much time.

I recorded a video, took me an hour to record and when when it started uploading, went to 100%, the app crashed and my file was deleted. Without me ever pressing the delete button. Cherry on top of the cake is the fact that the file is unrecoverable, great! Excellent product smh. Absolutely loved you guys, but when I really needed the product, it dropped a deuce on my lap.

it is good and stuff but it makes my computer lag for some reason... i dont know why but it is good anyways

I wish I could go lower than one star. This app works for like 30 seconds then crashes in the middle of my recording. Would not recommend.

Used this extension 3 years ago and just went to go use it again and not only have there been zero updates, it actually seems to have gotten worse given after clicking record, NOTHING happens. Might as well be abandonware from what I can tell.

It worked but I was r=trying to make a YouTube video where I react to my show and the was no audio my screen was glitching and when i turned it off it worked fine so doe s anyo\one know how toe improve this if yo can please tell me.

At first it seemed pretty cool until it was time for me to download it and found out i have to pay for that. They make it seem like it's free to do the whole thing. Waste of my time... smh.

I downloaded it, when I did I watched a tutorial and when i tried it out for myself I clicked "start recording" and it didn't give me a count down like it said it would and it didn't record neither me nor my screen

I have tried for the last time to use this extension. It loses more videos due to 'corrupt' recordings than I can describe. I am SO disappointed it screwed up another video demo I did today. I appreciate the try from Wistia to create this extension, but this is the worst.

The web video editor leaves a lot to be desired. It's really hard to see what frame you're on, anytime you click on the timeline the entire clip jumps, it doesn't work well for large video files, and there are very few options for transitions or layouts. Nice idea, but the video editor needs a lot of love.

Amazing perfect for making youtube videos and love the editing highly recommend for anyone trying to start a youtube channel.

THIS IS LITTERALY TRASH WHY YOU CHARGE SO MUCH I HATE THIS STUPID THING I JUST WANT TO RECORD!?!

It's a RAM hog and it doesn't work half the time. I read their troubleshooting page, but everything appears to set correctly with troubleshooting. Too much effort to get it up and running.

Very Misleading I add this and create an account believing that it was going to be free or at least cheap. After i record a 15 minute video and upload it so i can download it, I get told that i have to pay for a premium account. Which is $25 a MONTH. Its fine if you want to charge that much for something you can do for free with any editing software, but at least mention that you aren't able to download videos without dipping into your trust funds.

Simply didn't work for me. The blue icon never turned pink, the "my videos" page was just filled with marketing material...the user interface is so minimal that it's impossible to know if it was loading, or if I had done something wrong, or if it was a bug with the software. If you are going to dumb everything down so much you have to make the software smarter.

Does anyone know of any great alternatives to soapbox? I have had a very poor experience with Wistea and unfortunately I signed up for the 1 year plan :( They don't have a customer service department, live chat, or any method to help customers problem shoot other than submitting a ticket and praying they answer. It is impossible to get anyone on the phone to assist at this company so you have to be very tech savvy and a true DIY person to have success in my opinion.

You cannot download the video without paying. Couldn't figure out how to just record the screen without webcam or sound..

I havent used it yet but i was wondering if there was a way to remove the facecam cuz i just need a screen recording...

I could never hear myself when i watched it after i filmed

When I grant permissions it doesnt let me. It says error then moves me to the next step, even though I cant even use it because permissions arent having the ability to be granted even though Im granting them. I wont say I hate it because I have havent used it and simply because other reviews are saying its a fine screen recorder, thats why I have it as "Disliked it".

I loved this, but sometimes it can be slow or the audio is not very good. Also i would love if i can do live streams with this, please tell me if there is a way!

I can't tell if it tracks video views. How do I access the analytics? I'll change my rating if someone tells me how. It's really hard to find this info!

It was really good and easy to use, but I was upset that I could not turn off face-cam. I'm upset. So maybe make facecam and microphone optional?

Me and my friend want to make YouTube videos but it records our faces! We ONLY want it to record the screen, not us too. The other thing about this problem is that we explored through it a little, and theres no button that ONLY records the screen.

I've used numerous video plugins in the past - I'm Chromebook-exclusive, and this is an ESSENTIAL part of my Chrome toolkit!! So simple, exactly the right features, and the integration with Wistia is awesome if you're a bit more advanced in your needs! :-)

Soapbox is a great way to combine video and screencasts in one session. It's very easy to use and it's great that you can copy a thumbnail and link to the video right into an outgoing email.

As with everything Wistia does, Soapbox is super easy (and fun) to use. Their team has put together some great use videos and templates so getting up and running is a breeze. Upgrading to Soapbox Pro isn't absolutely necessary but we did it straightaway - kind of a no brainer with great added features.

Wistia is a fun, innovative company that I have used for video hosting for years. Their Soapbox extension for Chrome is a cool way to make quick videos. Recording the screen and the webcam and allowing quick edits to show one or the other or both is a smashing feature. It does have some quality/lag issues, but it is worth giving a try.

This is the ultimate chrome extension. Why are you not using it? I use this to create videos both for our clients and our team. Everyone talks about culture being really important, and we use this to talk to each other more personally. As a digital agency, we also use it to show our clients how to do technical stuff on their end, creating a library of content they can refer to.

This product is changing the way I do sales and customer support... heck... I am using it for a bulk of all my communication, both internal and external. My only problem with it is you can't pay for the pro account monthly.

Awesome Chrome extension, I use it everyday in sales prospecting videos. Unbelievable how well people respond to personalized video - and this plugin makes it so easy to produce.

Changing from 5 stars to 2 stars because the app is getting sluggish. I have contacted support (great support btw) regarding slow upload speed. After a few days upload has been improved. I have been informed that Wistia has been working on improving upload speed and that this will affect/improve Soapbox as well. BUT after a month or so since the problem started, now the problem is occurring ie. for 10 min. video it takes 3 hours to upload! I will not mention competitors names but their upload is way faster, but on the other hand they don't have this slick video editor/screen transition editor. I hope that this will be resolved once and for all, if not I am afraid that this app will not succeed because in today's day and age, time is the biggest asset. So soapbox team, please fix those main issues before adding premium "bells and whistles" (analytics etc.)

Good idea, poor execution. Video never saves, always brings me to the homepage of the website. Waste of time, unfortunately.

Jesus Christ! This thing is useless, it loses EVERY VIDEO I'VE MADE, mysteriously signing me out or just NOT RECORDING " Sorry we seem to have lost your video!" Blagh! Deleting! It's laggy too, so it messes up anything i'm trying to show or do... WINDOWS 10 Please fix buggs!

Love the concept of soapbox. Going to play with it and discover what it can and cannot do. The idea is terrific.

Even though I'm in the video business and webcasts I could not get this extension working on my MBP or windows machines. PLUS everytime I launched it... even after loggin in..still had the annoying survey. By the way...after a few tries... everyone will pick "personal" just so we don't have answer a bunch more question to use the thing.

The videos I make lag pretty bad, with the video behind the voice throughout the whole video. I don't know if that is my laptop or the app?

I click start recording but it never starts to record it says to stop sharing so when i press it the editing screen does not come up! i was so exited to at least rec on laptop and use coll camera transitions to earn maybe about 34 more subscribers on YouTube, but i guess my YouTube dream of recording games on pc are over i never got to even rec a single game on a pc!!! that is like the simplest thing a youtuber has ever done. so why is it so hard for me, huh. My computer, i mean laptop is $486!! and it can not work on this website if a good lapyop cant go on your website than what can! oh i know, a simple, cheap, laptop that cost like 100 dollars. i thought my laptob was good enough to get into recording but i guess i was wrong. sorry if im being to harsh but please try to understand that my life time dream is to become a pro gamer and that big let down when i could not rec on soapbox that put me down now you dont want that do you. While I liked the ease of use, I constantly have sync issues when uploading the videos to my Wistia account. Soapbox constantly gets these phantom videos that are blank added and yesterday I made 2 videos, it uploaded 3 copies of 1 video with another separate videos audio. I don't know how that could have happened except for some major server side coding issues.

I can't believe this tool is free. Soapbox makes it so so easy to create videos for people on my team. It's honestly a great time saver. Usually tools like this are too complicated, but I found Soapbox to be pretty intuitive.

I've used a bunch of screen recorder extensions and this is by far the easiest to install and use. Great for videos that you want to crank out without having to pull up a video editor because you can do everything in-app. Also FWIW I always ignore tips and onboarding because I'm an impatient person - a quality which, obviously, has burned me in the past. But not here. Soapbox is so intuitive it took me one short recording to figure everything out, so A+ for that.

I've been looking for a product like this forever. A few years back I had to learn how to use Final Cut Pro just to walk people through using our product. This is way better-- can't believe it's free

I often have to make quick videos for other people on my team. Soapbox makes this process incredibly easy. Just click on the icon to start, record, and your done. Can then share with the whole team. A ton easier than using quicktime, exporting, uploading, etc.!

I work on a remote team, and we've been trying out different ways to communicate about our company processes, creative ideas, how to use our tools, etc. Using soapbox is a game changer for us. Being able to switch back and forth between recording ourselves and showing things on screen is really helpful for explaining and creating demos. It also helps that it takes almost no time to figure out how to use it.

I was really impressed with how easy it was to create a video on soapbox! And I loved the fact that you don't have to do anything to switch between screen recording and camera recording. You get both and get to decide what to show during editing. Best way ever to create instructional videos!

Really, really easy to use screen record tool with intuitive editing features to cut between full screen, screen and yourself, just yourself, or zoomed in screen. If only they'd let us import our Soapbox videos into our Wistia account....

Working for a small remote team, we make a lot of internal instructional videos for each other and for new hires. I love watching these videos, but making them has always been challenging to me. Soapbox makes it seriously so so easy. Can't believe it's free.

Almost stupidly ridiculously easy to use. And if you mess up, it's super fast to just stop and start over again without having to wait for it to process.

I'm usually pretty confused by video editing so this was a nice change. Took me less than 10 seconds to understand everything! Really like how you can use your webcam and screen sharing at the same time-makes it so much easier to explain things over video.

app works very easily. editing and modifying camera shot or desktop shot or both very easy. trimming beginning and end easy too. really would like an option to download the video.

Professional and easy to use!

I love how easy it is to create a professional looking video that can include both screen recording and your webcam. With a quick click you have a thumbnail and link to add to your email or share on social media!

This makes creating a useful video about as easy as a skype call. I love it. Video is such a useful comms tool at our company but making videos can be slow and frustrating. Especially if we want to add graphics or a slide deck. Soapbox changes all that. So. Good.
