From February 11th, 2012 to February 6th, 2023, 55% user give 5-star rating, 16% user give 4-star rating, 7% user give 3-star rating, 3% user give 2-star rating, 18% user give 1-star rating. for User Agent Switcher, URL sniffer chrome extension.
pros: rich flexible configurations, can use regex matching. cons: not supporting navigator.userAgent and User-Agent Client Hints (sec-ch-ua headers) adjustment which "User Agent Switcher and Manager" can do. overall good extension.
Absolutely great extension!
Dont know how much to believe great reviews here but once you install this, you dont get preset user agents and those available like internet explorer (seriously?) arent working or simply not compatible by today standards. I tried adding edge user agent by searching through User Agent Search option but all are highly outdated. I doubt the interest of dev in making a true addon for users looking to spoof and hide real identity via browser using. Not recommended.
Best extension for URL sniffing. Love this extension. Thanks
Tons of great features!
Love this very useful plugin. Thanks to you the developer.
Soooooooo frustratingly close to great. However there seems to be a few flaws that keep this from being great. IE. It's confusing to know when filters have been applied or when you are manually applying a setting and what is being applied. Specifically here are some issues: A) The settings to indicate whether filters are enabled are at the bottom of your list in the button. B) The filter rules require you pasting in user agents, which is part of the issue related to "C". C) The User agent SELECTED MANUALLY is always the one displayed, so you can't tell when it is being over-ridden by a Filter rule, and since filter rules are completely separate you may not be able to match them to the user agents for display To improve this, it would be advantageous to: A: Move the "Use filters" checkbox to the top to know if it's in use. B: Change the Filters section to a drop-down selection of the tag names of the filters defined in the filter definitions above. C: Always have the Browser iCon display the actual user agent being used on a given page, at least at the highest level. When filters over-ride a site completely, grey out the choices for other user-agents and show which you have selected, and then, when "This tab only" is selected, create an option to over-ride filters manually by picking fome the list.
did not work at all for me and i found one that actually works
easy to use and it work
My favorite user agent switcher extension. Even works on a per-domain basis. If the developer is reading, it'd be amazing if you could add a custom referrer override for user patterns too (just an extra text field per pattern).
Did not work at all
I dont want it
This is almost perfect. The extra options, especially the ability to add filters for certain sites, is exactly what I needed. However, it has a pretty fatal flaw - it doesn't offer any ability to change the Operating System being reported by navigator.appName in Javascript. So even when you spoof the UA, many services still reject traffic based on the OS reported by navigator.appName. One example, DirecTV Now. It works on Chrome on Linux, as long as you spoof the UA and OS. For this reason, the most popular UA Switcher allows DirecTV Now to work on Linux. This UA switcher continues to report Linux as the OS, and it's impossible to get DirecTV Now to work. Would really like to use filters rather than the sledge hammer approach of the other UA Switcher, which applies to all tabs of the entire browser as long as you use it, and requires manual intervention rather than automatic filter base switching.
very useful
Terrible. Used it for Youtube on Chrome and wanted to just have it for the single tab I had open. Worked to the point of changing it to mobile view but after that point could never get it back to regular www view!
This is the UA-switcher you've been looking for. Full-featured, it's way more than a dropdown list user-agents. UAS,US allows control on a detailed level to allow you to work with hsites which would otherwise reject "your" extension. There's enough detail wrapped om it that you might find yourseof learning a new tthing or two.
:)
This extension help me very well!! I hope so other people download this extension! I am happy!
I'm not sure why this has such amazing ratings, but if I wanted to write my own header info, I would. The default choices are limited and it does NOT spoof your OS. Meaning for those of us, who use a User Agent extension, so we can download both the 32bit and 64bit versions of apps... not to mention, various OS versions, including legacies, are completely out of luck with this extension.
Interesting Tool, but.... I had to disable it, since it prevented other Chrome Apps installation. I got NETWORK_ERROR, and after disabling this plugin (inside extension manager) I managed to install other Chrome Apps successfully.
Very robust, and powerful. The best!
+ Import/Export is extremely convenient (just paste the new list of agents and you're done). + Possible to have per-site (per-pattern) settings is a must. + The configuration interface is very powerful. - The configuration interface is a bit clunky. Liked enough to bother to write the review.
Used to get that my samsung chromebook Chrome browser doesn't support certain pages when I was looking for free Universities over seas in Germany. I used to get errors for dumb stuff that wouldn't load...installed this and OVERALL my computer hasn't given me one issue...while im here I tried a NEW APP (totally different than this) called Wi-Fi fixer because my phone would disconnect and re connect (common in HTC and Samsung phones)...download that bad mamma jama and wi fi is straight at 75/75Mbps. Clocking in wired at 84, wifi at 65. No I didn't create it but I wanna learn how to .shoooooot
KICKASS! To see its power go to panopticlick test your setup. Then activate this puppy. Choose a different os from default. then go back to panopticlick and the difference is astounding. Please note I already run several extensions to thwart fingerprinting so for my score to go lower by half says a lot about this extensions ability to mask user agent. Now I need one for http accept headers. Anyone have a good extension. My chrome browser scores are lower than using tor browser. peace
this is superb extension. nicely done
No Safari 5.1.10
great app!!!
it works perfectly, but it deleted all my extensions for some reason
Works perfectly. However, for those of us who didn't notice the new button, maybe a little "getting started" guide would be nice :-)
Sorry, a pretty user interface begging for money doesn't impress me.
The fact that I can write patterns to match individual websites! AWESUM
I installed this plugin to play a certain web game that only playable on smartphones,i played on my phone too,but playing on PC was better,it was faster, and no hassle. Great Work !
great app!!!
Very handy, but the agent list is now ancient and missing the likes of iPhone5 and Galaxy S4/5. Would be great if it updated automatically from somewhere. Also, contact details would be nice, because reviews aren't a good channel for suggestions - they say after the suggestions are implemented.
After trying many "extreme" and "premium" user agent switchers, that the one that works for me. I can set up user agent for the buggy sites and forget about the extension. The options UI needs work. It's way too complicated and confusing. Also, it would be nice if the icon indicated whether a pattern is in use.
Basically doesn't work (Chrome dev channel 36.0.1941.0)
Can't get custom user agent to show up in the options as something you can select.
hey, where is your support contacts? ...
Has all the obvious features that the other ones lack. And works. Highly recommended to pipelight users.
Would you guys consider utilizing the chrome.storage API so that when we do a "powerwash" on Chromebooks, our settings could be restored automatically?
Very useful
THE single best user agent you should ever download. Forget about other low ranked reviews, this has worked in about 5 different computers, PERFECTLY every time. I definitely recommend this.
Unable to switch to custom settings.
very usful.. super app
thanks for this,, help me full
This is a superb extension EXCEPT that the settings do not sync. That's an absolute must. The entire point of Chrome is the synchronization of everything. Again, though -- a very good extension! Edit: PLEASE make this sync with the account, so that any machine will get the settings for a user. Depending on local machine continuity for cloud-oriented workflow is really retrograde. ;-)
Didn't work...
Lucky to have this extension.
Best extension I have ever used. It is easy and simple to use.
So far the only both most comprehensive UA switcher that allows you to control aspects of switching, applying it to only one tab, and/or controlling whether the page reloads when applying the new UA.
Great tool, can add my own extensions for testing and troubleshoot quickly. Other tools only give you a few options but this one has quite a collection!
powerful and does what it's supposed to do - I'd like someone to confirm if other extensions run as normal if the user agent is changed? I assume so...
A big win to be able to use Outlook Web Access with the full feature set from my Chromebook. Downside - options are very confusing. How do I find a way to have it affect 1 site (my company's outlook webmail site)? I have to turn it on and off every time. I'm sure there's a way but I can't figure it out.
This extensions does what it is supposed to do. Simple!
Gave me old tumblr back yus
Doesn't work
awsome for fast browsing in mobile view on pc!!!
This is the best of the ones that I have tried. The list of User Agent strings is pretty decent, but you can add them and you can specify certain UA's to be used on predefined URL's. For example, I can't use my Chromebook with Outlook Web Access unless I pretend to be Chrome on a Mac.
it's great but import user agents list via xml file feature missed.........
One of the best extension chrome has!!!
Very powerful - just what I was looking for. Additional sniffing capabilities and policy-driven configuration options make this a must-have utility for Chromium (and Chrome ) users.
+1 for only this tab function
brilliant
BROKEN on chrome 27.0.1430.3 dev-m. Loved it while it worked!
Works ok, but problem is that it affects all tabs, would be great if changing of user agent would only apply to current browser tab.
Did exactly what I wanted. Pleasantly surprised by the auto refresh feature. Since this is the first UAS I've ever used, I don't know if others have this feature. But I'm definitely sticking with this one.
A fantastic extension. My Outlook Webmail at work didn't like Chrome, and I needed to use Firefox for that alone. Now I don't have to! Make sure you check out the Patterns in Options!
works pretty lovely I'm impressed just trying to figure out how to switch the view from mobile to regular browser
Excelent
Works great, but the configuration interface can be a bit confusing. However, once it is configured, you don't have to mess with it anymore. It just works. The URL sniffer feature was very helpful in debugging the configuration settings.
The conditional Agent rewriting is very handy. I'm running Firefox 9.0 if you ask my OWA server, but the rest of the web doesn't have a clue. Not a 5-star rating because the configuration is confusing.
Pattern recognition to lie to Outlook Web Access worked great! Needs visual feedback in the icon that the custom filter was being applied. Thought it wasn't working at first.
Works as expected. Can use outlook in Chrome just as well as Firefox now.
doesn't actually work
This did not work at all in MacOS X 10.8.2, Chrome version 22.0.1229.94 The controls on the dropdown to choose user agent, enable URL sniffer, and so forth were unresponsive.
Great extension
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:D
I am also using tmobiles truly unlimited plan and it lets me use this browser...yea the format may look funky but in that case i just use Safari browser or opera browser, works great!
I am an Android user using T-Mobile's new truly unlimited data plan, which does not include tethering, thanks to this awesome extension, I now can tether my data to my computer. Thanks a lot to the dev. I was using the built in ua changer but with every new window, I had to open developer tools again, this extension does away with that.
Work as advertise. Not 5 star because no customizable tag.
works great, with default agents
Very useful extension. Could not go without it! Would love to see an auto import feature or additional options for more agents thru extension updates.
In reply to this: This is fine if you want to use the presets, however you can't customize user-agents. It appears you can, but the changes aren't actually saved. Also, if you edit a preset, it doesn't actually "stick" either -- and you have no way of selecting it from the drop down anyway." It does save it, if you bother to hit save at the very bottom at the page. Are people that lazy, not looking?
it is great and work really well. However, number of user agents of smartphone are very less. Like to see how android 4.0 or 4.1 looks.
Hi This did get 5 stars, but after the upgrade to chrome 19.0.1084.52 on linux, this extension does not appear to be working!
Does not work. Sites still sniff the browser as Chrome.
Would be 5 if it had Windows Phone 7
I don't really understand how this works. I've installed it, but how do I activate it? Can someone (the developers maybe) explain how to actually use it?
This is fine if you want to use the presets, however you can't customize user-agents. It appears you can, but the changes aren't actually saved. Also, if you edit a preset, it doesn't actually "stick" either -- and you have no way of selecting it from the drop down anyway. This app also does annoying things like puts ads in the extension itself, and begs you to rate it 5 stars, which is an annoyance.
Awesome.
Love it. Just what I needed, plus a URL sniffer! (I needed that too, eventually)
It did something to my Chrome... even after I uninstalled it, the Instant Search breaks down 2 out of 3 times, may need to reinstall Chrome
Nice work!
Amazing!
