as someone who've been using a fair share amount of ml translation for jp i'd say this is pretty good, the translation is probably on the deepl level, and the textbook detection is around 80%+ correct, most of the times it could detect every textboxes, probably only leaving one small undetected textbox, which is most of the times just filler texts anyway. a feedback for me is probably to allow the subscribers to upload multiple pdfs at once and just let the app translate it one by one, waiting for a while would still be better than wait and having to upload every panel one at a time.
Where has this been all my life. This changes everything.
I was blown away by how good this machine translation is compared to some of the human stuff out there. The translations are good enough to publish as is. Highly recommend it to anyone else that's okay with paying the subscription fee. I immediately bought the annual subscription after just a few chapters of reading. Don't really get why everyone is ragging on about the prices, guess they're just used to reading free stuff.
Finally I find the perfect OCR translation for jp manga, there are a little mistake (but it is really a little, sorry I am kinda perfectionist guy). I just added from chrome extension and use the free ver today and really satisfied. May I know what is the difference or what will I get if I subscribe? Excellent btw
I have to say it's better than other translator in google add-on but 9USD/month that's abit too much for me.... 3,99 will be much more better and you can get more Subscription too.
So, I liked it quite a bit, I've been using it for Korean comics, but it's not perfect. For one, the performance is abysmal, and looking into it, it spawns over 10,000 JS event handlers, which just about explains that. I'm unsure why it needs to many, as I doubt even there being that many single characters present in the single chapter. Perhaps you, the dev, can explain it? Second, and probably unavoidably, it doesn't stitch pages together before sending them through the translator, which results in pretty broken text. However, it still works pretty well if you can bare the lag and occasionally broken text. Some recommendations: - More font selection - Find/fix lag issue, and address it somehow, it may even reduce your operating costs...
doesn't work at all, it's broken
When I went to translate my manga, it said out of translations. Does this mean I have to wait until tomorrow in order for me to get the translations needed for my manga?
It's perfect, the only one I could find with the "panel" functionality, extremely needed for some websites like Comico.jp for example Still, it's way too expensive for me, but it was cool while it lasted.
Only works for a few pages, useless
Works great, worth the money. Super happy with it :)
Hi, is it possible to make it for firefox?
fees of 8.99 per month is outrageous and so expensive. There are cheaper and better alternatives like manga translator for 6.99 and raw manga fan. This reader has such a complicated and unpleasant user interface.
Was taking too long to translate raw manga using Google lens...bubble by bubble...even translating a light novel doesn't take this long...found this app and it's well worth paying for. It has its hiccups with some lines, but it does get the job done.
Straight Pog, probably the best translator out here
really good app thanks dude, awesome work, keep working in the same spirit
I wanted to know if other languages like indonesian and Thai would be available?
Excellent app; give the free version a try, to see functionality, there is nothing gated. The app has automatic panel editing (clear boxes so they are unobtrusively superimposed), the application is fast, and the translations are quite good for an automatic tool. Well worth the asking price for readers.
hallo dev, can i talk with u via discord?
Just wanted to leave a review saying that I really like this extension (and am a subscriber) and love it overall. I would like to ask if it would be possible to upload multiples images at once rather than one at a time but besides that when the browser has a long strip image i want to read its amazing thanks so much
so damn good ~! automatically translates text as you read, rather than needing to upload separate images to a server. A+++ would recommend
actually incredible! automatically edits panels to make the translation fit perfectly within speech bubbles. 11/10
10/10 i was looking for an extension that does exactly what this extensions does. I would pay money for this if i could.
most effective translation tool ive found extremely satisfied with its capabilities
I remember at first I thought what this tool promised was too good to be true and the free trial doesn’t give a good experience of this tool. so I subscribed for a month and after trying it, it truly exceeded my expectations and after my subscription ended I went and renewed it for a whole year and if it keeps as good as it is then I would happily continue supporting it. if you read a lot of mangas I would recommend that you give the tool a chance and subscribe for a month and judge it for your self. and I can’t wait for when we will be able to upload PDFs and have the tool translate it, so Erik if you can give us an update on how things are progressing would be awesome. p.s. Sorry for my bad English since it isn’t my first language :)
Too expensive, even if it does a good job its only a machine translation and 9$ a month to use that is insane to me. It is also not free at all and basically gives you 1 single translation for free and the you have to pay. I didn't get to really see how it works cause after I got the translation I updated the page and I got no idea if the quality is good or if it will even work on the sites I use. Advice: -Price shoulder be lower. It would attract more customers(like me) who can pay a reasonable price and that should cover the losses from such a steep cost. -Give more free translations. Let free users translate some pages every day/week or a free trial period so we can actually get a good test of the program and if it works on the sites we want to use. Why would I pay for something I'm not sure will work for things I want to read?
100X better than ISMANGA. Works fast and with hundreds of images HTML'd onto one page. I signed up for a month but will immediately extend my subscription to a year. There is absolutely nothing else that comes close.
The app overal is okay. The paying part though wasn't as im not able to pay for it sadly. The translator did work for a good couple mins though (free trial). It works quite well and the translations were on spot it was just too perfect. Def reccomnd this is ur looking for a manga translator and ur able to pay for it monthly or yearly.
For the most part, it's functional and the strawberry logos are adorable- but the extension causes the performance to lag as shown with the task manager I pulled up. If you're using this to read pixiv manga like me, then just know that expanding the manga sometimes doesn't translate AT ALL. For instance, it has to say "see all" and not "expand" or whatnot. Don't buy the premium if you're using older laptops. Some of the translations are confusing or don't make sense? I can usually understand what the translation MIGHT be trying to say because of the pictures, but it's not 100% accurate. Basically, the longer the text the more confusing the translation will be. All in all, this tool is a good start to use especially if you want to read raw manga that isn't available in other languages. At best, it's helped me understand a lot of the manga dialogue and proved to be enjoyable. At worst, it's laggy and some of the translations are baffling.
Install then to raw manga then nothing and force to use panel button every row then feed hamster. In other words free to install but around the corner Mugger san shows up that's every corner.
superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
my country doesn't allow paypal?
I love this. I wish it had multiple translations from different translation sources, like a toggle of sorts, just in case the translation isn't up to an understanding level for a particular moment or text bubble. If it can translate the SFX, it would be a godly app.
holy goachamole, this works!!! this actually works! Tried it on naver and it's amazing, thanks for the app
it doesn't seem to work on local pdfs. can you make it work?
This is not free, and there is no mention before installing. But this is the best manga translator I've use.
its really good but i would have liked i more if it was free instead of saying feed the hamsters every time i try to use it
Never regret buy the subscription..i have been searching this until now thanks
i hear good things about it but idk how to use it after i drag it over the panels
Absolutely amazed at the accuracy! I compared it side by side with the English translation of a manga that is originally in Japanese and not only did the Ichigo Reader translation tool very comprehensible, but it was virtually indifferent from the standard English translation done by a manga translator. Of course it isn't perfect, but It's most definitely better than most of the manga translation extensions I've came across!
Very good customer support, produce good quality translations and works very well for my needs (i.e. translating mainly Korean and Japanese) :D
It just works, and it works well. Subscribed. For those wanting to read manga in a different language locally just download Local Image Viewer, its a chrome extenstion and then you'll be able to scroll local images just click on an image you have locally and you can paginate through. I set background color to black and caching on Local Image Viewer, and then Ichigo takes care of the translations. Nice! Would be perfect once the ability to actually 'Save all' images with translation comes out. That's the next killer feature.
Is there a way to use this extension to translate the scans I have in my PC? I have my own scanned jpgs, and I would love to use this product to translate the jpgs I have in my local drive. I tried opening an image on chrome, but the app won't translate.
NGL I tried to read a certain manga that doesn't have any english translation yet i found this one to be absolutely amazing, it really change the text, and it translates very well, ITS AMAZING I LOVE IT TYVM and also for the developer
Thank you so much for creating this amazing extension. I love it!
I'm planning on buying the subscription but I don't know whether this extension is still operating or not, I am afraid if when I already brought the subscription it'd said that I cannot use this.
Good stuff, much better then anity or manga translator, but i didn't know you had to make an account to use it if you bought it so i left confused for a while, but still its a great app.
i am extremly happy finding this extension, this so much better than the other extension translator found in chrome. the translation much more easy to understand. hopefully it can reach the level of deepL translator level someday. Overall for now worth my money
This extension really saved my life thx you i am going to be premium user after NNN lmao
This is a great translator. the only problem I have is that some translation bubbles cover up other bubbles.
This is the best manga translator app in chrome. I dont have enough money to purchase the premium right now. But after a few years I will definitely buy the annual membership.
It is worth the subscription! This is really the best translation software that you can find for reading manga. It can translate nearly any of the panels it comes across. I found that the software has an easier time translating text that are inside bubbles or boxes than text that is outside of it. It can also have a hard time translating text that is colored. With some more improvements it can easily be five stars. Thanks to the dev and I hope they can provide more updates in the future!
Very accurate but unfortunately, as I was going back in the manga I was reading it thought I was going past as the chapter's I could read before I had to pay. Got to use it for 2 seconds but it has good potential..
I gave three stars because I thought it was for free. The developers really nailed the translation and I like it because it was easy to understand unlike other translator app. But anyway, even if this isn't free, I enjoyed few chapters of a manga using this app. If I am someone who is bless with wealth, I would love to upgrade my subscription to premium.
I absolutely loved this extension. It's the only extension that provides a proper sentence after translation (that I found so far). While I understand that it costs lots of money to run, I feel like most people wouldn't spend money on a hobby or (like me) are a minor and can't afford to pay. Otherwise, this is the best translator on the web store.
It would be free, but except it, it was uper cool! I am suprised that it actually worked. I work in a scans group and we had japanese translator problem, but now I can take care of it.
very great, love using it. Works only at specific page sizes so it could be improved but I love it, paid for it, and hope it continues to improve!!
Honestly, I couldn't even try it. I tried registering with 2 different emails but it just kept popping up that "translations cost money" window. So I couldn't even see if it was good or not. Sorry for 2 stars, but I'm not going to pay for something without at least trying it first...did that with windows ME and regretted it ever since lol
at first its okay, that why i purchase the subscription. But after few days using it, it loads really slow same in scrolling the pages and cant even translate the 60- 80% of the bubble manhwa i read. and there's word translate repeating every page. lastly when im using the extension sometimes i need to login even i already login on it. And it takes sometime to translate the chapter not like the free trial that translate fast.
It is for sure one of the best out there, however that doesn't mean it's really good. I praised it for being able to make the translations understandable and for it doing a good job at finding manga bubbles. However, it hardly works on Japanese, does not recognize text if it's TOO large or Too small. After purchasing an upgraded subscription the text recognition only got worse. It only detected about 40-60% of the bubbles on a pages sometimes less. The translation 'I woke up in the hospital' kept appearing all over every page and website, no matter the language and would often cover the actual translated panels. After reaching out twice (via email) to the support email provided and hearing back neither time, I unsubscribed. It is obsessively expensive and after the initial translations, it is not worth that amount for the translations, lack of support, and slowness of web pages you get.
This is easily the best manga panel translator I've seen, and I've been through quite a few, mostly a bunch of OCR image readers. But this is not only an Optical Character Recognition machine - it specifically hones in on manga panels and translates them to the best it can within seconds! Granted, about a quarter of the time the English translations read a little weirdly, but I can usually get the gist or phrase it differently in my head. This is a fantastic extension! If it was like, $30 cheaper, I'd think I'd buy a yearly subscription for it. Honestly, dude, if you spoke to another web developer, extension/app developer or someone, I'm sure they'd be willing to help you out with this project!
I love this extension. It translate far better than any another extension, but some page it doesn't fully translate, some text doesn't translate, I don't know if because color, font of text that it doesn't recognize. Truly love this extension, worth the upgrade.
Better than anything else I've tried. I plan to use this a lot.
Love the extension i only wanted to translate a doushinji, for some reason translating 6 pages made me waste the 50 free translations, i had to zoom a bit to get more accurate translations too, which also made me spend extra free translations and now basically im forced to pay the 7 dollar fee just to translate 1 thing, simply the monthly fee for someone like me who would use it incredibly rarely is too much and almost a waste.
I'll give a better review if I can get a fix, after upgrading from the free trial, it won't translate anything for me. It just loads the strawberry and nothing is translated. Edit: Problem was fixed
Its a lot better than Anity. If it was free and paid from donations, it would've been the best translator out there. You would've earned a lot more by donations
Works great! Looking to subscribe but getting "An unknown error occurred. Check your internet connection and try again shortly." Will that issue get fixed? Want to make sure I'm not purchasing it for nothing.
This is by far the best translation extension available. I have tried several different auto translators and this one gets a better translation 95% of the time. IR also seems to be able to understand more of the smaller text than other more popular translators. looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this project.
I absolutely love it, but are you going to need to charge monthly fees for the foreseeable future or eventually faze them out.
It's okay. It works better than the other options available but it makes my browser incredibly slow and it doesn't translate every speech bubble, sound effect, and small lettering. The "translate panel" which you're supposed to use to pin-point the small wording doesn't work at all - it'll just load and crash the page or freeze and never translate. So if it isn't initially translated then it just won't be, which is frustrating. Also, I paid for the upgrade but after the first time translating one page it crashed my browser twice and now there is "system maintenance". Almost right after I paid, which is, again, frustrating. Hopefully the bugs can be worked out or I can get my money back.
Although obviously there are still improvements that needs to be made, this extension is the best one so far for translating manga! I have been having difficulties lately with translating certain mangas in websites but I hope it's just a temporary bug. I was having fun reading the raws because of this! :) I also hope there is a way to contact the developer or some sort of support measures for upgraded users. The email provided in the website doesn't work.
Compared to Anity (The Most Popular Manga Translator Currently) Ichigo Reader Is way better. I've tried it on multiple Manga side by side comparing the results and I would say 90% of the time Ichigo reader provides a better translation. Ichigo reader also allows you to move around the translation bubbles, change translation font, and color. They're apparently other really cool features in works that will make Ichigo reader even better and more unique compared to the competition. I'm looking forward to these future updates, and will be sure to update this review over time.
