Amazing app
Not sure why there are negative reviews, this is the best page saver I have used, works everytime
Tried to figure out the way to manage but it just continually shows "save failed," sadly.
Total waste of time. Everything, it does it wrong. Impossible to send anything to Kindle. Seem developer doesn't even use it.
Does not work at all.
New install - doesn't work. Nothing happens when clicking on it.
0 stars. Without a working plugin, this service is useless.
Nov 12th 2022 Reinstalled it, logged in. Each attempt to save page says 'page saving' and then 'save failed'.
Intapaper is good, but this plug in does not work as of 11 Nov 2022.
No longer working, as at November 2022.
Doesn't work!!. when I click the extension nothing hapens.
Doesn't do a thing when I click on it
DOES NOT WORK. How am I supposed to use and subscribe to instapaper when the main way I will import into the app is from my chrome browser. This is a massive oversight on the part of the team. This should absolutely be a top priority fix!!!!
Is not working although I deleted all my cookies and reinstalled it.
Extension doesn't work. I love the app but this prevents me from using it cross-platform which means I will be cancelling my subscription as the bug has been occurring for a while now
it doesn't do anything when you click it.
PSA: for those having problems with the extension (not working when clicked), try erasing cookies, and then removing and reinstalling the extension. It worked for me, and the extension is now back
Doesn't do anything when you click it.
The Jan 2022 update messed up frequently used and well known shortcuts to access code and WYSWIG editors (ctrl/cmnd+i and ctrl/cmnd+shift+i) and I had to disable it. Seems like whoever did this update as never used keyboard shortcuts or just really didn't care. Please fix it as prior to this it was definitely a 4-5 star rating.
I've been happy with this previously, but the extension has recently started intercepting the cmd-I shortcut on my macbook, despite this not being the stated keyboard shortcut (cmd-shift-S) and even when I disable that shortcut. This is extremely annoying if you're trying to make some text italic in a google doc!
I click on the extension and nothing happens. Am I supposed to log in or something? Most other extensions will open up the page when installed to have you take further action if necessary to use the extension.
Fantastically done
great
"Saving failed". Reinstalled. Does not work in Chrome, sadly. The failure message should really be shown in a different color or do something to grab your attention, since I've now realized that the last few things I intended to save were never saved.
Doesn't do anything.. Broken.
Where is the option to set the account to have the articles sent to? I use an Instapaper account. So far this is a dud of an extension. I hope you fix the issues so I can save my articles to Instapaper. For now back to Firefox where I have a functional extension. I will add more stars and improve my review if this gets fixed until then it stands.
- No tagging - No support for decent reading workflow. If I mark read ones I want to keep as "Archive", it gets removed from the folder and therefore loses its context (that is exactly why the folder structure does not make any sense, but tagging would, since you could archive an article and still search for it using the tag you initially assigned). - Have I mentioned that organizing by folder is useless? There is no "All" view, meaning if you have time to read an article, you have to click through all your folders to see what articles you have. - Images in Articles sent to kindle are often missing ("Image not available") - Opening Links in the "Videos" section always fails: "Sorry, there was an error parsing that article."
can not open article in Instapaper directly
Simply not working, or it incredibly unintuitive.
Simple and clean. And it works. Love it!
Save fails when I choose "This can Read and Change Site Data -> When You Click On the Extension". I have to change it to "All Sites" for it to work. Is this a bug?
It's worked seamlessly for me for years. I used it so save articles I run into while online for offline / Instapaper access later. Saves me so much time and I end up with a great list of content to read when I have slow moments later.
This extension does not work at all. Click it and it does nothing. Pocket is far more functional. Bye bye Instapaper.
Doesnt work at all. Also when comparing it to Notion, it cuts even more from the text.
There's no visual indication if the extension is working or if it had any problem saving a page. I was only able to make it work after I saw the remark of @AaronSimpson about restarting chrome
Does not work properly in Brave
The Chrome extension does not save tweets and is slow as hell for saving other links as well.
It doesnt do anything when i click the button? how do i get it to work???
I used to use this extension and liked it, but I suggest anyone to uninstall this Instapaper extension. I've allocated a problem where browsers on cleanly installled OS have Ad windows popup. The cause was this extension. So I end up to consider this extension to be a malware. Sadly, Firefox add-on has a same kind of behavior as well. And this has a UNFORGIVABLE LARGE MEMORY FOOTPRINT just to send a single HTTP request. Fortunately, Instapaper offers a bookmarklet on their webpage. If you still want to use this service, go get that one and better never use this decayed official extensions again.
Does not work any longer.
No matter where I went, "Save Failed" Looking at the options on my phone, it didn't sound like it was really what I wanted anyway, so I wouldn't have liked it even if it functioned properly. Having a limit on how much I can save for offline viewing (you know, things that are saved to/hosted on my device) that isn't tied to the capacity of my storage device itself really steams me.
A great option to take longer reads to my cell phone.
nice work
Excellent extension from a reputable company. This extension has never failed. One suggestion: echoing a previous comment, I suggest you emphasize the user will not have search capability with the free plan. That will limit the grousing.
Does everything it used to do...
does nothing when clicked Pixelbook on chrome
Way to confusing/
Works as it should!
fix. stopped working on chrome/mac
Enjoying it so far but hate the keyboard binding Alt-Shift-S. Guys, that's the default Windows wide screen capture short cut. Consider changing it.
the extension is very handy. The only thing I'm missing is an option to open my Instapaper library directly from the icon.
I had to restart Chrome before this extension did anything. Other than that, I've used it in conjunction with Firefox for some time, and have found it useful.
constantly kept clicking on the icon but doesn't open
The Instapaper link on the dropdown list should take you to your saved items; not back to chrome web store! What use is the chrome web store page if you already have the extension installed?
It doesn't do anything. No way to log in, no way to send anything to my instapaper. Okay...
I <3 Instapaper -- the BEST tool for saving pages for later -- across every platform!
Very useful. Especially text to speech option
Item in the context menu for links doesn't work in extensions. I'd assume, if in the extension is valid HTML anchor, it would work as well as for links on regular pages (not sure if it really works on pages though).
Is it true you have be connected if using a Chromebook? I've been wondering why I get a "not connected" when trying to pull up a saved article and I'm not connected. Guess there's no point to it if you have a Chromebook. Too bad they don't say that somewhere.
It was working for over a year. Then it has suddenly stopped allowing me to use it to save pages to my Instapaper account. Why?
The in-line saving with Twitter is buggy as Hell. It will disappear at random and displace the existing buttons.
Doesn't work. When attempting to clip at article for the firs time, I imagine it should ask for login details. It doesn't. Nothing happens.
I want to be thrilled with this extension because it promises to solve a problem I've been confronting since my first (original) Ipad--poor rendering of pages when I "print" a PDF of an article and add it to my Dropbox folder for offline reading. I created an account, got the app for my Ipad, and added the extensions for both Chrome and Safari on my desktop. Then I tried saving an article by clicking the extension button in Chrome. Nada. I tried it in Safari. Zilch. Um, how do I save an article to my queue for offline viewing? In any case, I thought this would be intuitive: install, browse, click bookmarklet (desktop), see in Ipad queue, read offline, repeat. I've read the introductory tutorial and it seems that's what I should be able to do. Maybe I've missed something, in which case I'll return to change my rating. :(
Really loved this extension. I do have a question if it's available to read the articles offline though.
Instapaper itself is great, but this not. Why does the Instapaper link on the extension button take you to the extension page in the chrome web store? Shouldn't it take to you Instapaper? There is no way to quickly access Instapaper.com with this extension. Its only useful to add things to your list.
It's ok. It would be great if you include the link to Instapaper web app in the extension. When I click on Instapaper, it directs me here.
Please note, DOES NOT WORK OFFLINE ON CHROMEBOOK. This is the answer I got from the support people. It is supposed to work offline for other media, but not compatible with the Chromebook app interface, *supposedly*. Disappointed, obviously.
I'm sure it's possible to internet without Instapaper and this extension, but I don't know how. On a side note, it would be awful cool if this extension would work with mobile.twitter.com as well as regular Twitter.
When browsing, no way to know if a page has already been added to instapaper previously. Also, only one level of folder. Would have been good to allow hierarchy of folders.
Works as advertised!
I used to use this back in the day. My last saved items were from 3 years ago. Just downloaded it now and had a bad experience. 1. I had to restart the browser to get any visual due that my saves were working 2. There is no easy way to jump from the extension to the website 3. The first article I saved just used the title "business" instead of the article header text 4. The 2nd article I went to save was completely garbled. I'll be checking out the competition
good
Non-intuitive. I'm lost! Where do you go to open the offline articles? I had to do some research how. I think it's very troublesome. After this comment, I'll be uninstalling it.
not working properly.
this is the wrost thing that no one should used
Very convenient for saving web pages for reference at a later date
thanks, works ok for me
Would like a possibility to disable the context menu integration.
I can't even log in or save a webpage.....does this even work?
There is no way to jump straight to the saved article or even the dashboard after saving a page. I had to manually type in the address like a barbarian...
No tags... what year is this? All we have is folders. I guess instapaper wasn't designed as a bookmarking tool.. It is definitely not for me then.
Could use a link to open instapaper site (on right click menu) Also, in the options page I have the shortcut enabled but it says "Cmd+Shift+S" and I am on a windows machine. Can't know what this means for me! Enjoying isntapaper anyway...
Need a one click option to read immediately in Instapaper.
Basic process works well but the extension menu desperately needs an option to go to instapaper.com as well as an option to save and then open the current page there.
Great extension to a great service.
Get if you want daily updates from leftwing blogs/media spewing Clinton campaign propaganda.
Why waste my time when there is no way to get offline save feature ?
favorite extension in chrome. so useful
Works great. Better than Pocket at saving files, since Pocket sometimes doesn't grab everything.
Ctrl+click saving to Instapaper works after Chrome restart. Had to learn that by reading these comments. Otherwise, it's good.
Super useful. Great work with this one!
good
I've Been Waiting For Something Like Instapaper to come.
After using it for a week i found a few gaps that if redressed can do wonders... ** "I" The extension works as a bookmarking tool not more than that. It takes a lot to actually read an article saved in there. ** Its interface is kinda cool but need to be organized more efficiently thanks
second to none, premium is even better
Works Flawlessly
Indispensable, reading mode cuts the clutter from web pages.
It almost seems like you have to allow flash on pages for this to work. I use a flashcontrol extension and the only way I ever get Instapaper to save a page is if I allow flash on the page first.
Superb extension. Does exactly what it says, and seamlessly sends any webpage to the app.
Doesn't work.
Works fine for saving articles, but could do with adding option to view article in Instapaper's 'reading-mode' without saving first, which the bookmarklet can do. The icon is also ugly.
Does not work on many pages.
There's one simple feature you can add to make this extension much more intuitive and easier to use. When right clicking the Icon on the "app tray" in Chrome, the following context menu appears: *Instapaper *Options *Remove from Chrome *Hide Button *Manage Extensions When I click "Instapaper", I assumed it would take me to my reading list on the instapaper website. Instead, it takes me to the CHROME EXTENSION overview. I've already installed the extension. Why do I need a quick link to go back to the original place I installed it from? This means that I have to add a BOOKMARK and open that whenever I want to look at my saved pages. The whole point of Instapaper is to limit the need for bookmarks. This simple change would mean I don't need to devote a bookmark to instapaper just to see my list of pages. If anything, it's annoying and discourages me from checking my "list" as often. Your main competitor, Pocket, has this feature. Every time you save a page, a little menu pops up, allowing me to add a tag without going onto the Pocket website, and also allows me to OPEN the website if I want to look at my other saved pages. Please, change this.
Doesnt work
Easy to use, fast and reliable.
love it!!!!!!
