Life Changing! I am so much more productive with this extension. I have bookmarks bars for all kinds of topics which allows me to focus on one topic at a time and minimize distractions. Minus one star for not restoring the underlying bookmark folder to its original position upon use. As-is the Most Recently Used (MRU) folder goes to the bottom of your "Other bookmarks". I would prefer it to go back to the relative position where it was initially. How to implement? I'm sure that it can be done. ?

I love it! Some extensions deserve to be a built-in feature, and this is one of them. I there was an option to assign a shortcut key combo to switch between bookmark profiles, it would be a 6 star extension ? Thanks

I use this daily to switch between 'work' and 'personal' bookmarks and it works quite well. Only issue is that the labels for each bookmark set constantly keep switching, so I have to constantly switch them back.

Fantastic! Like a Session Manager that goes easier on the system because you don't have to open the tabs unless you want to. Thank you :-)

Been using for 2 years and i love it!

Had some issues figuring this out, but it's awesome now. But I need help, is there an easy way to copy it over to a new browser? Looks like I need to add the bookmarks back - I think they're all there and ready to just add back.. I hope. Not sure how transferring my bookmarks to a new browser will work - chrome has not worked well for me for a specific website I need to use.

I don't understand how this isn't the most popular extension, aside from an ad-blocker. This is a must-have, and I'm really confused why extensions that do this are not more popular, or why this functionality isn't built into the browser itself. Do people really not need this? How can you not want to switch between different sets of bookmarks for your bookmarks bar, depending on what you're doing? Sadly, with the upcoming changes to the chrome engine (and browsers like Edge that use it), extensions like uBlock Origin aren't going to work the same anymore (search for Manifest V3 if you haven't heard about this). That means Firefox will be the only viable option. Sadly, this extension does not exist for Firefox. To the author, please, please consider porting this to Firefox, and thanks for this amazing extension.

Just barely installed and already certain it's going to change my life. Can now have a bar for work bookmarks and personal that are separate and easy to switch between. Not sure how this isn't default Chrome behavior but thanks for building this!

I'm a bit confused. I was able to name my current bookmarks bar and add a new one. That's great, but when I go to select the bookmarks, under the "Switch To" Drop down, it show a very long list of all my other bookmarked folders, that are not bookmarks bars. How can I get rid of those so they don't show in the extensions drop down?

It doesn`t work at all, I can write only the name of the bookmarks bar and that`s all. There is no option to create a new bar. I created a new folder inside "Other Bookmarks" as instructions say but nothing changes.

I've been using this for 2 years and absolutely LOVE it. It works perfectly for my needs. I have 15 different Bookmark Bars, all for different work project/clients. Makes life so much easier.

Great little extension - makes switching between work bookmarks and personal bookmarks very easy. I'd echo other reviewers' sentiments that a shortcut for quicker switching would be ideal - maybe some way a button could be added to the bookmark bar itself to toggle between bookmarks? Maybe an actual bookmark could execute whatever code is needed?

As a freelancer and heavy user of the Bookmarks Bar in Chrome, this makes it super simple to have bookmarks in context to what project I'm working on - my only criticism is the lack of configurable keyboard shortcuts to switch/cycle between my pre-sets. Great job on this extension, works really well!

I've been using it for a few months and it has been a life changer, there's room for improvovment, I wish the bar names would be static and not move and mix randomly, also grouping for the bars i.e. being able to give a name for a few bars would be great

Very helpful. One request, could the non-active bookmark bars be sorted alphabetically in the dropdown menu? It can sometimes be hard to find the bookmark bar you're looking for

Hey I like this extension but one key feature I need: Is there any way to assign a hotkey to switch the bookmark bars for those of us that need to switch them fast and frequently???

It works when i first install it then it doesnt come back when i restart chrome?

WORST extension I've seen. My computer seemed hacked.

Works really well, and finally gives me an incentive to organise my bookmarks.

I really liked it, would have given it a 4 or 5 star, but two things have happened that basically destroyed all the settings and bookmarks. First, using letters to explain easier, I had a bookmark bar named "X" and another one "Y". The "X" bookmark bar name changed to "Y". So then I had 2 "Y".I could not change the name. But at least I knew one of them had my "X" bookmarks and the other one had my "Y" bookmarks. Then the worse happened. The two "Y" bookmark bars merged!! Now its really difficult to find bookmars because there is way more than what I can see in the bookmark dropdown without having to scroll down. Can someone help me fix this problem? Is there a place where I can drag and drop the bookmarks where they go and rename the bookmark bars? Please HELP

The extention is great, but the directions are confusing, so I'll try to explain them more in-depth. After you name your current bookmark bar, you need to hit the three vertical ... next to your account photo, go to bookmarks, and go to bookmarks manager. From there you have to either create a folder in your normal bookmarks and drag it into 'Other Bookmarks' (On the left of your screen), or just create a folder within other bookmarks. From there, you can go to any website pge, click on the extention icon, and switch between your current bookmark bar and the bookmark bar folders in your 'other bookmarks' tag. In order to fill these new bookmark bars with bookmarks, you can either bookmark pages normally while the bar you want them on is in use, or you can take current bookmarks on your current bar, drag them over 'other bookmarks' and drag them into the folders. I only have 3 small issues with this extention, #1 being that you cant rename your very first bookmark bar without reinstalling the extention, #2 being that the 'Other Bookmarks' Tab will always be visible on each of your bookmark bars, and It'll take up a bit of room, since you can't rename it. #3 simply being that the directs are a bit hard to understand. Overall, a great extention.

HI, i just started using Switcher, how i can make the main bar always show as first in the drop down list when i wanna swich back to main from other bar?....it always goes to the end of list and need to roll down. if there were a way to pin some always be at top of the list that would be great.

Once I understood that "Other bookmarks" is a specific thing, not just a vague reference, this became an excellent tool.

This works really well, except sometimes the names of the bookmark categories I use get switched (I use two categories right now).

I was looking to add a toolbar and found this. It is better. I have different work environments requiring different resources. This allows me to work with Profiles. :-) Awesome!!!

Is there a similar extension for open tabs? I would love to switch between open tabs on my private PC and work PC.

My university just closed down my Google account and I was able to bring all my bookmarks over into my personal account but keep them nicely separated from my regular toolbar. This is a simple but brilliant productivity tool that changes the 'feel' of your browser to fit the work context you want to engage. Thanks Jiajia Wang!!!

creates a duplicate bar that cannot be deleted. makes more trouble than its worth, not recommended.

It doesn't work for me. When I add the extension, it asks me to name my current bookmark bar. But when I click on the icon again, there is just an empty "switch to:" list with no way I can see to add more bookmark bars.

I cannot get it to work for anything. Icon is there. Says it's compatible with my system, but can't get beyond naming first bar. Nothing else works.

Since I installed, has kept duplicating individual bookmarks. Now duplicated the whole bar of bookmarks...

I've been using this extension for about a year. Unfortunately, over time, it duplicates the folders, the links, and move the links from one folder to another. This creates a big mess in bookmarks. For this reason, you need to reorganize your bookmarks every 2-3 months. It's annoying.

Installed and it won't add any additional bars, even when adding bookmarks/folders to the Other Bookmarks folder.

This is what I've been needing for a long time. Now instead of keeping my work bookmarks in a folder, I can keep them in a completely different bar. I can also create different bars for different purposes. For example, I created have a YouTube one for the channels I keep up with. If I had one feature that I'd want though, it's the ability to change the bookmark bar of a single window and not having it change all windows. I know that it's not really possible with the the way its built, but it would still be nice to have it. If you open a new window it would just inherit the window your in. And maybe there's an option to set one bar as "default" for each device (not sure if doesn't already do this). Thanks for the great extension!

Works great for a few days. After that it screwed up my bookmarks, renamed folders, made copy of folders and lost bookmarks. Removed and won't use again. Stay away from using this extension.

Nice extension. Would be nicer if it didn't mess the order of bookmarks when you switch between bars.

It is not allowing me to create more than my current bookmark bar and thats literlay it. how to fix this?

Great idea but it doesn't work. After being asked to type in the name for my first bar it wouldn't let me create another. It just shows the original bar I created with no options to make another. It looks like it should be below but I can't scroll in the small box it's displayed in and it doesn't expand as far as it should obviously so I can't click on anything at all, which makes it totally useless.

Hello. Really nice and usefull extension. It works well on my laptop (were I installed the extension), but not on my desktop (were it was installed through Chrome sync): the "Switch to" list is empty, although the "Other bookmarks" appear normally. Also a bit worried that in bookmark folders with a lot of shortcuts/subfolders, some might get lost when switching, but I have to investigate this further. If these issues can be fixed I wil gladly give it *****

Before this extension I had way to many bookmarks for one bar but now I'm organised, and thats pretty cool. 5 bookmark bars/ 5

I need to have two bookmark bars (one for work and one for home) but somehow this extension multiplies my bookmark bar - I have 3 bookmarks bars for home (with the same name) and 2 bookmarks bars for work (with the same name). I tried to delete the ones that I don't need but after a few weeks the the situation repeats itself...

I really like this functionality! I have used it for a few months now. I am mainly switching between two sets of bookmarks (work and personal). But here is my problem: one day I saw that I suddenly had two copies of my personal bookmarks. Then three. Now four copies of my personal bookmarks, all with the same group name (K&L bookmarks). If I edit a bookmark, apparently it only edits it in one set, and the other three copies remain unedited. I don't know at any point which bookmark set I'm using because they all have the same group name. My work bookmarks are the same, only this personal group keeps copying itself. Is it the ampersand? That can cause problems in programming. Anyway, I'm not sure how I'm going to untangle this but I will try if you can find the problem and eliminate it. Thank you!

This extension works really well for switching bookmarks bars and I've grown to rely on it a lot. There's a glitch, though, because sometimes the folders get duplicated. Is this because I have multiple devices? I don't know, but I'm living with the glitch because even with it the extension is still very useful for me.

Unfortunately seeing the bug in February 2019 where I just keep getting the prompt to name my current bookmarks to start.. It seemed to happen after I manually updated chrome in the settings. Hopefully the Dev can fix this, he/she seems very active and I honestly think it is an issue originating from googles side. I love this plugin though so will give 5 star and wait for a fix.

*************** OK. HERE'S HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE OF DISAPPEARING BOOKMARKS *************** 1 Go to bookmark manager and move everything (both bookmark "sets" that you already have) into newly created folder. Meaning - you move all your "other bookmarks" to the main one. 2 It should allow you now to create new name for your current bookmark set 3 After you named your current bookmark set create a folder under "other bookmarks" and move your other links there.

It was working fine and all of a sudden (after a Chrome Update) it stopped working. I type the name of the bookmarks and nothing happens.

Doesn't work anymore. Every time I click the icon, it asks to name the current bookmark bar for start. Chrome version 72.0.3626.81 (Official Build) (64-bit).

Extension was working great previously. For about the last week it no longer functions. It will only bring up the option to 'Name your current bookmarks bar to start'. Tried creating several new groups, disabled and reinstall extension but to no avail. Please fix since this is a terrific utility!

It worked fine until just now. It suddenly asks for naming my current bookmark bar to start. The other bookmarks do not appear in the application anymore. Therefore it is impossible to switch between bookmark bars. I have different users and different computers that I use. Until just a while ago all this was working good. After update (Azure) this morning trouble started. I'll test this issue later with my personal home computer and or laptop. Perhaps you have a solution to this (local) bug.

The switcher icon would always add another extension every time I clicked on one. For instance, I use HOME and WORK bars. When I'm at home and click the extension icon and then click HOME if the bar is on WORK, it will take me to the HOME bar properly but then add another selection, so when I go to work the next day and select WORK, I'll have 3 selections: WORK, HOME, WORK. When I get home and select HOME and then repeat the next day, the selections grow to WORK, HOME, WORK, HOME, ...and on and on. The only selection that works and has my bookmarks is the bottom listing. On top of that, random pages that I've bookmarked would simply disappear and have to be re-added. I've uninstalled and went with a different extension.

I'm really not clear how this works so you need better instructions. Furthermore, I then rad that it doesn't work well between different computers. Surely the main point of being able to quickly switch bookmark bars is so that you can share bookmarks across computers but have a different bookmark bar on each (i.e. work and personal)?

I just installed this extension, but after naming my initial bookmarks, I seem unable to add any new names to change to.

I enjoyed using this but it has suddenly stopped working. Removed and reinstalled and still not working. It asked me to name the first bookmark bar but would not save what I typed in. I hope you can fix this as I have recommended it to my friends. Update 11 January 2019. I am pleased to say that the extension has just started working again - very strange. Maybe there has been a modification to Google Chrome?

It had some issues, as mentioned in other reviews. Periodically it would duplicate bookmark folders and/or bookmarks. I could deal with that. All of a sudden, it simply doesn't work. It keeps asking me to name the current bookmark bar to get started but it a) won't remember the name and b) won't switch to any of the other bookmark folders. Absolute shame. It was an easy, unobtrusive way to keep my bookmarks organized and easily change between work, personal, and subject-specific bookmark folders.

Exactly what I was looking for - keep work and personal bookmarks separate.

Works exactly as described, great for keeping work and home bookmarks separate, especially if you do a lot of Webex and don't want to show coworlers your personal sites.

Provided the functionality that I was looking for. Helped me tidy up the mess of bookmarks that had accumulated. An issue is that the list of bars do not appear in alphabetical order and they change sequence depending on which ones I switch to. Is it possible to keep them in a consistent order?

Can't create customs bookmark bars, lacks a basic options or management section

just didn't work

In principle this extension is exactly why I need but it often ends up mixing up my bookmarks from the different "bars" so all of that that were in FolderA and up in FolderB, the ones in FolderB ends up in FolderC etc. After a while I just have to sort out all my bookmarks again... I believe, but I'm unsure, that it doesn't cope well with me switching devices (Home laptop, work laptop, phone, etc.)

Useful utility, but has its problems. Switching groups is not always clean. Frequently get groups duplicated or partially copied. Not sure it plays well with multiple computers and Chrome's sync function.

Works for me in Chrome. Wish I could have a different bookmark bar on each window instead of all my windows having the same one. Also, those who worry about losing their bookmarks: In Chrome, you can go to the "Bookmarks Manager" under the 3dots-Booksmarks or (Ctrl-Shift-O) and use the menu on the manager page to Export your bookmarks as a backup.

Great extension, as by using folders it allows for easy bookmark management for the multiple bookmark bars. However it might be beneficial if the current bookmark bar folder was not deleted and just kept in sync with the bookmark bar itself. This might prevent any synchronization issues from occurring as no folders are deleted.

Worked briefly, then wiped out one of my folders. Acted like it had been reinstalled, made me start from scratch, then I had two copies of the same bookmark folder. Lost all my work bookmarks. NEEDS A WARNING: IF YOU BACK UP THE CURRENT BOOKMARK BAR TO AN EXISTING FOLDER, ALL BOOKMARKS IN THAT FOLDER WILL BE ERASED. At least give a confirmation dialog before doing something that will delete existing bookmarks! Was nice while it worked, at least. - Update a month or two later - I set up two bookmark bars, but this app randomly creates a third. I named them Home and Work, and the app randomly renames them Home and Home, or Work and Work. The app does work, mostly, sort of, but it's aggravating.

Awesome for anyone that has numerous bookmarks that cover several big topics. One suggestion: create shortcut keys or any faster way to switch bars.

Slick extension. Does exactly what I need it to. I can now set up as many different sets of bookmarks bars as I want and switch between them with a couple mouse clicks. This will be a productivity booster for sure.

How do you save the current configuration? If I add something new to the bookmarks bar, I have to save it as a whole new bookmarks bar and delte the previous one every time. Why can't you just drag a new bookmark to the bookmarks bar and when you switch to another bookmarks and come back, it stays there? So it is very difficult to keep organized. Update to auto-save when you add a new bookmark by dragging it to the bar and i will change to 5 stars. This is the ONLY thing missing on what could be perfect if it had it. Via your reply... That is nearly just as strenuous and takes about the same amoutn of time as just resaving the bookmarks bar again... and too much hassel dragging a link to the "Other Bookmarks" simultaniously navigating through subfolder until I find a place to drop it. Makes no sense at all. AND NOW... Your latest update completely fixed the main issue that I was having with this. thank you. Rating just went from 2 stars to 5 stars. AWESOME!

Works for me, kind of. I use Chrome at home (one set of bookmarks) and Chrome on my work machine (completely separate set of bookmarks). What I would like to see is that a cookie is dropped on the machine, so I don't have to keep switching. I use them side-by-side, and when I'm sharing my desktop in a WebEx on my work machine, suddenly my home bookmarks (ESPN, Facebook, etc) show up. I switch to my home machine, and all my work bookmarks are there. If I only use my Work bookmarks on one machine, it should be able to pick up on that and only display them there (or at least be the default).

The new functionality fixes the most glaring issue with the app. Previously, if you wanted to add a bookmark to your current bar you had to add the bookmark to "other bookmarks" first and reload the bookmark bar. The July update instead saves the current bar as you update it and backs it up when when switching. I thought I was missing bookmarks until I realized how the functionality had changed. This is way better, thanks dev!

Was great until update. Now it deletes the choosen folder for bookmark bar and in combination with synchronisation it makes a lot of trouble for me. I have to look for another plugin. :( --- my old opinion --- Great extension. Works much better than Bookmarkswitcher. I would like to have access for bookmark subfolders and the posibility to filter folder list. And be careful. Selecting a folder for bookmark bar deletes current bookmarks in the bar.

Great idea but I've lost all my bookmarks twice now randomly. Not cool. Won't be using this anymore until there's more recovery features. I even made a backup folder but that has disappeared too.

Beware of saving your current bookmark bar before playing with it or you may lose it.Great idea but needs more interface and checks and recovery. When installing it appears you should first save current Bookmark Bar BEFORE trying folders etc to see how it works. I didn't (no instruction to do so) lost my main Bookmark Bar. I recovered by finding bookmarks.bak file and renaming after following net-sourced instructions. Phew! I had a lot of current bookmarks on my Bookmarks bar. I still want to use this though it's a great idea. Hope it is developed more.

It almost killed me. It deleted the whole bookmarks tab and replaced it with microsoft bookmarks. Fortunately had a back up.

Exceptional app if you have multiple PCs and you want to use different bookmarks on each PC.
