Spent a lot of time highlighting different parts of my book only to discover that most of them are now missing. Most definitely a deal breaker for me, I won't be using this again.
The functionality is good, but seems to occasionally lose a bunch of highlights, even when logged into Crome. 10/11/22
it is simple and easy to use only for highlight, nothing more than that. it it useful for reading article but the developer should give provide 'delete highlight' option. then it will be more effective
I installed Yawas as I thought it would be really helpful when doing research for Uni. I spent more than two hours reading an article and made 70+ highlights. The next day I went back to review what I found so I could write my essay and none of my highlights were saved. I was a little upset, but I was going to re-read the article anyway in case there were things I missed in my first read. I started reading and highlighting for a second time, refreshed my page and the highlights disappeared again. Not. Happy. Jan!
Seems to work just fine.
Its not working :(
been using this for a long time, it the best period!! But recently i realize a new tap always opens up, refreshes and closes whenever i visit a new page. Why is this happening??
Can't highlight multi line, needs login to save, etc. Useless.
* I can't find Yawas folder in BOOKMARKS. How to find it? (I'm using Chrome for Windows 7 computer). Highlight web pages and PDF files. Stored online and recreated automatically when you revisit a page Yawas lets you highlight web pages and PDF documents in multiple colors. Your highlights are stored inside your BOOKMARKS in Google. * Where is this Yawas - Search? You can also quickly access all your bookmarks with "Yawas - Search" or edit the current page's bookmark (including its labels/tags) with "Yawas - Edit".
It's would be better if can add note
It is not showing highlighted part when opened later
nice but i am not know to use this tool pls suggest simple way to use
Unbelievably useful! If there was an option to add a note (although I don't knowif this is technically possible), it would super great!
if you can add option to add a note, else this is the best highlighter.
2018 UPDATE: Developer responded to my request about adding PDF support within 3 days. Best highlighting app available on Chrome. Suggestions for improvement: 1) ability to set custom keyboard shortcuts, as the default "Ctrl+shift+y" is difficult to type with one hand 2) make it open source, so we can help you create the best possible highlighting app! ---------- 2017 ------- HOW DO I DISABLE PDF? This extension is the reason I used chrome over firefox. Wish it had better keyboard shortcuts tho. Is the source code available somewhere?
requires a sign in so couldn't even try it out. :(
I have been using YAWAS for years.... but almost gave up on it as it did work correctly for the last year or two. Failing to login. Finally figured out the solution. I have two factor authentication enabled. Manually opening bookmarks.google.com and getting through the 2-factor authentication fixes the problem. So back to five star rating!
It works! So far so good! Don't forget to refresh your browser to insure the extension starts to work.
Not working...
After pop up cannot store highlight; Do you want to signin now? --> Redirecting and show white pop up square...
good
what a piece of garbage. god forbid you close a tab, all work disappears. Thanks Yawas!!!!
it still highligts but i think not fully functional. needs update. like: option drop down list does not work
Good but there is a problem of frequent logouts. Many a times it asks for google relogin.
This is working really great so far in Chrome, it does exactly what I was looking for an app like this to do. The keyboard shortcuts come in super handy (highlight CTRL+SHIFT+y for yellow; instead of +y use +b for blue, +g for green, +r for red, +d for delete). I was experimenting with the Readability plugin (it strips out most of the styles on a page to focus on just the text) to see whether or not Yawas highlighter works there. It does. Then it showed some strange behavior when I tried to go back out to the original (styled) page. I notified the developer and he had a fix for it within a few days. Now you can highlight in Readability - jump out to the normally styled URL and it retains the highlights ..and vice versa .. you can also go back inside the Readability page and the highlights are still there. They show up on both versions and are persistent. Very convenient! And quick action from the dev (the project is far from dead and he works on it)
Excellent tool well integrated with google bookmarks. I wish there is an easy way to tag each highlights on the go to categorize them
Doesn't work at all in Chrome for Mac, and only worked sporadically in Chrome for Windows.
I love this extension. It saves your highlight and pulls them back up when you revisit the page. This extension helps me save tons of time. If the developer could add text feature with same functionality, I see great potential in its future.
I worked really well for me. The only problem I had was that the highlighted text wasn't highlighted when I printed the pages. The whole reason I had gotten it was so I could look through a lot of notes for the info I was looking for, and find it quickly. If you are not using it for this purpose, though, it is a great tool and fun to use. If the developer could allow it to print with the pages it would be perfect.
Dosen't work in my chrome. Version 47.0.2526.111 (64-bit)
a waste of time
Does what it says it does, at least using the right-click option after you've selected something. BUT I initially had trouble. NOTE: You MUST sign into google bookmarks. I was signed into google on some tabs, but I had to SPECIFICALLY sign into google BOOKMARKS. THEN, I closed and re-opened Chrome. I also toggled to disable then back to enable in extension manager, but I am not sure if that is what did anything. Note this is a BETTER OPTION than a LOT of the highlighters - I found about five that merely alternated colors with each word highlighted, instead of letting separate full phrases be colored a certain color.
Exactly what i wanted, working perfectly.
Very laggy. Why do I have to sign in to use it? Is it because it saves it? What if I don't want to log in?
Its not showing highlights of dynamic web pages ..ie Those get updated daily .. For Static Web pages, it run properly.. Make flexible for Dynamic web pages where contents are added daily.. in such pages only highlighted count is showing on top.. Nice GUI .. good options(color)..
Good app. Unfortunately, it has this dirty habit of always bringing a pop-up window asking me to sign in to Google to save my highlights. I don't know why the extension lays so muh emphasis on one signing into Google, and that makes me feel it has something else its doing, e.g: checking out my browsing behavior, mining personal information etc. The owner should just make one disable such feature. Not everyone, including me is interested in signing into Google simply because I want to use an extension. I am also not interested in saving my highlights immediately, or almost immediately. Nevertheless, I'm still stuck on it but I'm definitely looking for an alternative.
Didn't work for me.
Watched and followed video and it didn't work :/
Great idea to save highlights in Google Bookmarks. Best of its kind. Update: - Now I noticed that it fails to load the highlights randomly. - It also silently fails to save highlights MOST OF THE TIME; Very unstable. - The 2048 character limit of Google Bookmarks note field is also annonying
Now it works using the mouse right-hand button. highlight the text then use the mouse to select the color . By the way, I tried it with Firefox, and it worked.
The best extension for highlight. Simple, useful, user-friendly!!!
Works well for me. (Chrome on Windows, Debian, Fedora). Simple, straight forward, basic. Trying to find a Diigo alternative for highlighting (etc).
Doesn't work
Indeed, Ctrl+Shift+B should not be used!!! (hide/show the bookmarks toolbar).
didnt work for me: Arch linux Chromium
Didn't work for me, either.
Best. It's Free. It syncs with google account. Happy Happy. This and SideNotes for notes.
Really great extension. Super simple, isn't bundled with other features you don't want or need (Diigo). I have two suggestions that would make a huge difference: 1. Allow us to choose custom colors for highlighting. 2. Allow us to choose custom shortcut keys. The current shortcut for Red Highlighter is Ctrl+Shift+R, which is already used by Chrome for refreshing the page, so I can never use it.
Simple and easy to use.
Highlight, right click and choose a colour (or learn the keyboard shortcuts). Simple and fast. No useless extras to get in the way. Very good and exactly what i needed.
Love this tool! Fantastically simple and great highlight effect. However would be better if we could customize the color & keyboard shortcuts
Ctrl-Shift-B should not be the control since it is used in chrome to hide/show the bookmarks toolbaar.
I can't highlight anymore. The Yellow Icon turns Red. WTF!!!
Doesn't work at all
Awesome. I've tried others, but they are a pain to use because you have to do all these extra steps, you have these pop up boxes that get in the way whenever you try to click on something else on the page, and then you have to go to a whole other webpage to access your annotated version. This one is simple, and your highlights actually stay on the same url you were on.
It doesn't work for me. The star has a 0 and wont highlight...
Would be great if it provides hotkey customization.
I use this to highlight important info in a online articles etc. It is really helpful.
Love it!... after install you have to restart Chrome. Clicking on the star doesn't work for me, instead you have to right click after selecting text and you'll see Yawas menu (along with other options)where you can select the color of your highlight to bookmark it.
Edited Gave it a star because it did not work when I added it to Chrome but it did when I restarted Chrome. Nice!
Doesn't work (32.0.1700.68 beta on OS X 10.9.1)
i didn't like it at first but a little search taught me how to use it. You have to Right-click on the text you select to show the context menu and select Yawas Highlight. I love this soo much considering when you revisit the page the highlighted text is still there. On top of this, i emailed for support and he was great. Win 7 Pro (64bit) in Chrome
This is a brilliant idea! It works great! Thank you so much!
it doesn't work on some website
exactly what i need!!! HIGHLIGHT words on webpage and can SYNC between different computers!
At first it didn't work, until I signed in to Chrome. I have two complains: moving the cursor back and forth to select the color everytime you need to highlight a new text is annoying and slow, and it doesn't work with data grids. Still a very helpful tool though.
doesn't work
Very simple, but effective. Doesn't have the annoying features of other website highlighters.
its good! thank you for the app, it have made reading useful. however it can be more convenient. cheers!
Would be awesome if it works.
Best I tried :) but this first issue needs attention... 1) Overrides default browser bookmarks bar toggle: Ctrl-Shift-B with no option to change shortcut. Will have to disable it because of this. 2) Doesn't work within Evernote Clearly reader extension for some reason. Some other things... clicking the bar icon doesn't do anything. Option to customize star icon would be nice (Neat Bookmarks offers this).
Works excellent. Highlights look really great and really stand out. Easy keyboard shortcuts. Super useful for studying or difficult reading.
It was a bit complicated to use. But after mastering how to use it. It's fine. Needs more colours. You need to sign in to Google before you can actually use it though.
Doesn't work for me. Windows 7 Pro (64bit), fully updated Chrome.
Best extension for highlighting text on webpages. Simple but powerful. Best feature is that the highlights are actually stored so that the next time you visit the page you can see your highlighted stuff again. Thanks, keep up the good work!!
Hot keys sold this for me.
Great extension, really simple but incredibly successful. I use your this extension along with Web Clipper by Evernote and it makes the difference: it allows me to highlight elements in the page which are critical to me. And where there is a lot of stuff, being able to focus on relevant informations is critical. So, great job! Just a request: because I use in a massive way this extension, I have to click on the extension next to the address bar and it time wasting. Can you allow a quick access through contextual menu by means of right-click button? Thank you, Laurent
good approach, but: 1, impossible to manage many highlighted words if they stored locally, especially many words in a site 2, Google bookmark become a mess unless you save them all in a folder 3, your Youtube video is old and wrong which doesn't match with your new design in highlighting words, say no more mouse context options 4, if store locally, be better to store in local bookmark for bookmark sync to sync across different computers sorry to say that i still decide not to use your extension once again now since 2 years ago.
i like this but the problem is that the highlighter is limited to a few number of selections. i hope this would improve.
One of the few highlighter extensions that actually works or does what it says it does. Could be improved with a keyboard shortcut option, saving users from having to click the icon each time to save a highlight.
not working any more :(
This is total garbage, I spent like two hours highlighting information on an website, and set it as "save in google bookmarks". At first it's all fine...It was simple and convinient. But when I went on again, the marks are 90% gone. What's the use of a highlighter when it doesn't save it's marks!? Please don't let this software waste your time too...
Simple, yet so powerfull!
The referring page has attempted to issue a command to the Google Toolbar. However, the Google Toolbar either is not present on your system or is not functioning properly. This may occur as a result of attempting to install the Google Toolbar on a browser which is not supported, such as the AOL Explorer or MSN Explorer.
