Demands "Read and Change all your data on all websites" Good joke!

Was excellent and simple, new update demands 'Read and Change all your data on all websites'. nope, not happening.

New update requests permission to "read data from all sites" and once you grant permission it auto-opens a page from facebook. Would recommend removing immediately and changing passwords, especially your facebook.

Extension worked great for years, looks like now it's spam. Now requests access to all sites and then opens a Facebook popup window if you grant it.

This extension is a necessary evil for sure. While the YouTube comments do have their positives and fun aspects, it's better to pay no mind to what is for the most part a digital shitstorm of pointless diversions and arguments that do nothing and go nowhere.

I had to disable comment notifications because I would get into pointless time-wasting debates. Sadly, Youtube doesn't have a feature to disable seeing comments entirely, so I'm thankful for this extension.

Best Extension Ever. YouTube Comments section has too many spam bots and comment algorithm bots working against the user's comments, leading to shadow-banning & content creators silencing your comment outright based on certain choice of words which a lot of users wouldn't know in advance. So, might as well not use this section of YouTube. It's not worth reading through.

Loved this extension for a while now, but youtube has this new comment toggle thing. The extension doesn't block it and I can see youtube comments again. Hopefully you guys find a fix.

Could use an update on the new site UI and a toggle for specific channels. Aside from that it is very usefull to ignore trolls

I really believe this app has improved my mental health. Youtube has awesome video content but the comments are full of trolls (a lot of them are paid to troll). This removes any temptation I have to argue with people who are wrong on the internet.

I only dont want to see other comments. I still want to be able to leave my comment and communicate with the Video owner THis extension is quite limited...

Does exactly what it promises. There are a few channels I'd be interested in comments from (DIY stuff where someone might have a good suggestion), so a toggle would be nice. That said, 99.999% of the comments this blocks are repetitive or pointless. If YouTube/Google really had their act together they might have implemented a native solution like this years ago. Much thanks to the author of for a great extension!

Still works in 2021. So many times I get annoyed and start talking trash to the mind blowing comments I see. Now I can finally scroll down to look for other videos without my sanity levels being diminished.

Works great! Not seeing comments many of which are negative for no reason has been life-changing.

The only bad thing about this extension is that it doesn't come pre-installed with every copy of Chrome. Seriously, Google should moderate their stupid platform if they're not going to let us hide comments.

Finally i don't see toxic comments. religious crazies or madmens weird scribbles. The two latter ones may be the same thing. Anyways i love it!

Needs to reload the page when you set it every time which is inconvenient, I have to set it on every video.

It does exactly what it promises, easily. It helps keep me focused. I wish they also had an app for my phone, that would be awesome.

Just started using this and i think this is the lifesaver i was looking for all this time. its a shame i cant use it on android so I've had to resort to deleting the android youtube app altogether. Ovreall though I can already see this will significantly improve my viewing experience on desktop. No toxic comments means more peace of mind and altogether less time spent watching youtube in general which saves me hours of my life.

I realize my hypocrisy of commenting on how comments are bad for us but here me out. There is this weird hierarchy of who says the most intelligent or most introspective thing in the Youtube comments section. A lot of times its great being able see how other people perceive a piece of content and share your view points as well. But I think this format breeds a sort of mob mentality with conversations. Vindicate those who disagree and promote those who do. So the affirmation of your perspective is reinforced through likes and other comments. It lacks the ability to have a in depth conversation on different subjects. The goal instead turns solely to getting the most sound bite-y comment to reach an audience that will confirm whatever belief you hold... Anyway, this extension is awesome lol.

My school has this force downloaded to the computers. When I singed in to my school account on my home computer, it installed the extension as well, not allowing me to delete it. This is horrible to me, as I quite enjoy reading comments on videos. That being said, the extension does exactly as advertised and I cannot fault the creator for my schools decision, hence the 5 stars. Although I don't personally like it, it works fine. Much needed detox

I get the urge to argue with every YouTube comment I see, so this extension allows me to do something with my life.

I downloaded this because I became progressively more disturbed by the YouTube comments. If you 1. Have a uncontrollable urge to scroll through the comments despite knowing that they are toxic 2. Want to keep your sanity while browsing YouTube Then this extension is for you.

Thank You. Finally, I am able to hide 99% of repetitive and boring "jokes", toxic and hurtful comments, and a bunch of pointless or disgusting comments. Simple, and Perfect.

Absolutely brilliant extension! YT comment sections, once useful, are now filled with hate and misinformation and this extension does a great public service of allowing the viewer to block them. I thank Michal so much for creating this extension. If I could request one feature extension it would be the option to also hide "like" and "dislike" scores as they have become the comments section in numeric form. Transitioning into newer and brighter eras seems to have left the comment section behind. As you all know, more often than not is the same rehashed nonsense pushed again and again and again and again and again and again and again. The solution was quite simple, block every little annoying bit of it out, which happens to be all of it. No longer will you be plagued by the onslaught of "comedians," "firsts," and other highly predictable human reactions. Enjoy the blissful silence of a blank slate, and enjoy it well, my friend.

The only problem I have with this plug-in is that it doesn't block comments on all sites. That would be amazing. For what it is, though, it's still amazing.

This is amazing and I am so happy this exists. The comment section is often a circle-jerk of right vs left "politics" or straight up hate speech which is insane & time killer! I thank you for making such awesome tool & keep us productive.

It's an ok extension for people that dont know that they can hide any part of screen anywhere (like youtube comments section, etc...) with almost any ad-blocking chrome extension they are using now... because if they are not, they don't deserve to live :) please correct me if I am wrong, I'd like to know.

Annoying Midnight Club Still Cancelled Soz Comments are looking everywhere

I am sick to death of seeing this comment in music videos " Anyone still listening to this in current year?). And the fools do this every year and receive so many thumbs up. It is the little things that make life worth living and it is these little things that make you want to end it. Youtube's comment section has become a cacophony of banal stupidity. The same comments being recycled over and over again on political videos. I'm over it!

Does what it does, letting me listen to music without being distracted from work (I use Firefox for play), would recommend. 4 stars because as others have pointed out it would be good to toggle individual elements like live chat only even though that doesn't make sense. Also because the icon looks unpleasing, but I never look at it too long anyway so kidding there :P

The majority of the reviews I see are about either people who are liberal and they hate that the comments are toxic because of X, Y, Z bigoted reasons, or the review complains about how people just shouldn't look at the comment section and that hateful comments are just part and parcel (borrowing from my favourite mayor) of the internet. I'm right-wing. My reason for using this extension mostly doesn't relate to either of these. I find YouTube comments a waste of time. I've used YouTube for nearly fifteen years and viewing and replying to comment sections have become a habit. It is usually stupid comments (often one-liners or memes) that aren't constructive that float to the top of the section. I can take the heat when it comes to political comments, but for many people it's not just as simple as "not looking". This is similar to ignoring a chocolate bar. You shouldn't eat it, but you may have an eating disorder and as a bad habit you end up eating it on autopilot. It's like that when delving into cancerous YouTube comments. Like the chocolate diet. Disposing of that will help put you in the frame of mind to lose weight. Removing these comments will help you restore faith in humanity. While I'm here I'd like to suggestion an option for Android users. It's not possible to hide YouTube comments with the app. Instead I recommend installing a repository called F-Droid. It's quite easy and doesn't require rooting. With that you can install an app called NewPipe. Not only does it support background listening and skipping ads, but it doesn't even support YouTube comments. All the good, and then some, but none of the bad.

This should come pre-installed on Chrome. Can't recommend it enough!

brilliant! now i can watch videos with serenity without the compulsive need, inflicted by overexposure to social media, to scroll down and see what other (- random strangers-) think of it. after disabling facebook and al, and removing youtube comment section with this, my internet experience improved drastically.

I do this absolutely crazy thing where I go and read the comments section of videos, even though I know that it's just going to make me mad! Thank you for sparing my sanity because apparently I have no self-control. Truly, I appreciate this chrome extension - I've only been using it for about 10 minutes and already I feel so much lighter. Youtube is so much more enjoyable now!

I've used this extension for a few years and never thought about rating it until now, but it's the best thing on the chrome web store. Youtube is tons more entertaining with the silenced rubes.

A service to humanity

I have no intentions of ever interacting with the cesspool that is the YouTube comments section, so I don't know why I would ever want to see them.

Great extension. Social media is rife with ignorance, hatred, political correctness, and conflict. This extension allows you to watch youtube videos without being exposed to the social media aspect of the service. You can use the time you save from not reading low quality social media comments to seek out intelligent sources of information to help you grow as a person.
