For everyone ever so helpfully saying "Not Working"; https://github.com/bijij/ViewImage/issues/268#issuecomment-1476294452 For now you just need a Tampermonkey script (instead of this extension) and it'll work fine.

The extension is working once again. Props to the contributors for keeping pace with all the changes that Google makes to Search, even if there's a few days or weeks delay. Give these devs props for doing this for free.

I really liked it while it still worked, but it definitely doesn't anymore, no matter what other people say, and hasn't since about late november 2022. In the context menu there's just the "search with google image" option, which uses google lens.

The core functionality of reimplementing the view image button still works. The "search by image" context menu option doesn't work anymore, but Chrome now has the "Search Image with Google" context menu option which is pretty much the same, it just uses the google lens interface. It's still a 5-star in my book.

This extension still works for me, except that the "Search by image" context menu option no longer works correctly; it just opens the Google Images main page and doesn't actually do an image search. Since I use a different, more powerful extension for reverse image searches anyway, I no longer need that feature enabled for this extension and have disabled it in the extension's options. Also, I've tried using the GitHub userscript that some replies have mentioned and that doesn't work at all. So don't bother adding it to Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey/Violentmonkey.

Stopped working. (November 2022)

This is working fine for me and I enjoy it. Why do they have to keep removing useful features? Like removing a one click button to easily view a direct image? I have to right click and view the image or scroll through a website and dig around through countless ads to find the image? What's going on these days.

Apparently, google has updated its search page, and the extension doesn't work for me anymore (Aug 2022).

Great when it was working, but i dont know why the dev team make this automatically updates when chrome pushes another update. Now is not working in version 103.0.5060.114

5-star to help offset recent people who scored this extension low when it stopped working. Dev keeps updating and this is working well again (June 2022). Great extension, you only realize how great when it dosen't work, glad it does again.

Exactly as advertised. I used this for quite a while with fantastic results. Unfortunately, it seems there are some bugs recently, but overall it still works very well.

Works just as intended. Chrome had broken it for a short while, but it was quickly patched. Great extension with reliable updates

Was working fine until I updated to version 102.0.5005.63. Until it is fixed, I do not recommend updating your Chrome browser. Edit: It is fixed as of 6/15/2022

Version 3.6.5 came out on 6/15/2022 working again until Chromes next update and than it starts all over again.

Used to be 5 stars but no longer does the one thing its supposed to. Tried removing and adding again but still broken.

Stopped working in 2022 in Germany

Loved it for years but stopped working out of nowhere. I uninstalled/reinstalled the ext and tried restarting my browser, but no luck recovering the functionality :(

This extension appears to be no longer working in Chrome. There is no 'View Image' button shown on image search pages any more. Is there going to be any fix for this because this is an EXTREMELY helpful program! Thanks!

Giving this a 5 for its YEARS of service, but yes - it recently stopped working. I hope we can get an update. it's a vital tool.

I have enjoyed using this extension frequently for several years, but the "view image" button suddenly disappeared again from Chrome a couple of weeks ago. Maybe a Chrome update? The extension is still on and all the listed websites are ticked on. Any suggestions? (I can still use right-click, open image in new tab, but that's always been the case. Thank you.

it's garbage now

it was an essential, brilliant extension while it worked. it hadn't worked for me for a long while now - i miss it dearly, however melodramatic this may sound.

Update May 31, 2022: Still not working. Wonderful extension. But I forgot I wasn't using it since it has been so long missing on Image results. Even after all that time I literally glanced around and couldn't find it, remembered it's still not there, and came here to update. You know it's a great tool when that happens. Long lived "View Image" extension—may it live again! Does google think we're all jumping for joy with it's replacement? Hah. Silly. Update August 5th, 2021: Not currently working. However—everyone—who says it won't be fixed? Let's not drive the poor developer's rating into the dirt. There's no good reason for doing that to the one who freely handed us this little tool we've all been enjoying and benefiting from. New people can see it's not working at the moment now, so no more negative reviews! We don't know what's going on in the dev's life at this moment. If you were using it and have something constructive to say, at least give it 4 stars and best wishes — encourage the dev to bring it back! We all want it back. :) March 23, 2021: Well that worked nicely. I forgot how convenient and useful these buttons can be, it's been so long since they were suddenly missing. Putting them back makes sense and you wonder why such good ideas like this are often taken away? Who now sits in the chair of someone who once employed good sense? I don't care, I'm glad the old stuff is back. BTW the 'Search by Image' shows up as a text link, not a button. It's right under, just look for it. Works nice to find similar images and related stuff.

It's brilliant and essential. I think Chrome has recently been updated to block it. Hope you find a workaround soon. Keep up the good work.

Having to accept this extension requesting additional site permissions every time I want to search by image in the context menu gets really tiring. An option where you don't have to keep allowing it to have additional permissions for context menu image search would be greatly appreciated.

Have been using this for years with no problems! Just went to add a seperate "search by image" extension (since google now has replaced this in the right-click menu to search with google lens) and noticed its a feature available in this extensions, but I can't get the feature or button to show up for me? I've even adjusted the settings on/off etc.

Recently added a "Search by image" option to the context menu. While a nice idea, there is no option to remove it in the settings, so even if you only want this app for the "View image" button you'll also be stuck with that added to your context menu.

So this extension does what it promises and it does it great BUT the Hover Zoom+ extension stops working and I had to prioritize what extension to keep.

Extension was fine, until the right click context menu addition to 'search by image' was recently added. This is entirely redundant; 'Search google for image' is two options above. Gives me privacy concerns. This extension is redundant anyhow, as you can right click and select 'open image in a new tab' for a full sized image, avoiding an extension that one day magically decides to add superfluous entries to your menu

Just for your information, Google Image Search doesn't load pictures with 16MP or higher resolutions. And this extension doesn't work for those resolutions either. For instance If I want to load a 12MP picture in new tab, I will just simply press the right-click button. So this Extension is totally worthless for me.
