It's a great concept but definitely needs improvement. This is really useful for schoolwork but it's only usable as a font on Word Office 365, which I don't use. It should be available for Google Docs, which would be much more helpful. It also looks like changing the font of texts only works on certain sites as well.
It works as it is supposed to on Vivaldi, however that there is no option to just convert all text on the page is very disappointing.
Works perfectly. Install, restart chrome. Then turn on the extension by clicking on it. It will go from black circle to a red filled in circle. Highlight text and it transforms. Used as a way to highlight pertinent information for better memory retention. No problems for me.
Broke.
Not very helpful.
I was looking forward to using this extension since the idea was very promising but it simply did not work. When I pressed the button it didn't always turn red, sometimes it turned red for just a second and even when it stayed red the text I highlighted did not change. Bottom line, great idea but does not work.
Newest font ever!
Like the font on my pc, but this chrome extension doesn't work on any website.
Agh I really want to give this 5 stars, but it only works unpredictably and not as expected. And it appears to only work with some websites. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong though.
Good thing, but I want cyrillic letters and convert the whole webpage by some gesture like double-clicking. Not sure if this is possible, but sounds like a great idea. Plus, if you'll do the double-click thing, then make it not turn off when I open another websites
**if it doesn't work for you just open and close your browser** its amazing lol
This was AMAZING. All you need to do is to select a piece of text on a page and press the Sans Forgetica button in the corner, then click on the text again; it's so easy! I did start to use this when studying a couple of times, and I found it difficult-er than other fonts to read, but not difficult to read, which I like. It means I HAVE to pay more attention to what I'm reading in order to read it which is really helpful. The other thing is that I just think RMIT have managed to make this look as amazing as possible as well.
It does not work.
Not working in Chrome on my Mac, despite trying the response in other reviews. It would work best if the entire page changed when you click the red pixel, but it does not work at all unfortunately.
It didn't work at first, but then I restarted my Chrome and it worked, try to restart your computer if browser restarting doesn't help. Before trying to change the text to Sans Forgetica make sure, that the plugin is on - the logo of the extension in your browser must be red, then highlight desired text, it should change. Try on some other website. It works, just play around with it. Happy remembering :)
When in click on it, it only stays red for about 2 seconds, making it so that i don't have enough time to highlight the selected text.
Doesn't work on Chrome browsers. I've done everything that the copy-pasted review reply told me to (selecting the pixel next to the address bar and then selecting text), but nothing was converted, be it on a webpage or on Google Docs. I love the concept and would use it for exams, but it doesn't help if it doesn't work in the first place. :/
It doesn't work! I have tried on different computers using Chrome, it didn't work. I have also downloaded it as a font, both of my computers has found an error with the font.
It works on some browsers but as people have said before, the scaling is off. It is also unable to convert on google documents making it hard for me to actually use the font when I want to, going over typed up study notes from lectures. The concept is fantastic, but more work should be put into it.
The theory sounds logical. It is the text equivalent as speaking to an ESL individual. You have to concentrate more. Too bad it doesn't work, as many others have mentioned. I hope that a final version that works comes along soon.
it dosn't work with google doc. at least when i use it
uselss does not work
It's so cool, it's so helpful for the students or for a hobby. I lovd it and thans so much to the developers.
Doesn't even work, even after a restart.
Only converts selected text into the new font, and not always even that. Scaling doesn't work well either. The research behind this is very shady and there is better evidence that common l33t 5p33ch 15 m0r3 3ff3ct1v3 for the same purpose. Bad science, bad programming. Curious, but i'd rather convert everything to braille and deal with that.
After I installed the font, it did not work on my Mac with the latest OS, even after I followed all the instructions and read the comments. The font is not in the list of fonts Google makes available for Chrome.
not working in gdocs
Works great! Just need to click the icon THEN highlight the text you want converted. With all the articles I read for my job, this will help with the keys bits hopefully.
Just needed to read the instructions and works like a dream.
. NRFPTY ( Not Ready For Prime Time Yet -- Nerf Putty ) It is NOT a right-click option for the whole page or for highlighted text, but that's what it needs to be. As the Chrome extension is now, either nothing happens, or the web page gets totally jumbled ( tested on the RMIT page, which SHOULD behave superlatively ). I tried setting Google Chrome's default fonts all to [ Sans Forgetica ], but nothing changes on screen unless I remove each page's CSS cascading style sheets -- [ Right-Click ], [ Inspect ], then highlight and delete [ <head>...</head> ]. [ Sans Forgetica ] does not come in TTF, PS, or Bitstream web font format, so ad hoc conversions promise to corrupt it's value, although conversions to upright and forward italics, as well as light and bold, may be useful. Fascinating font, in theory, although I hate the backward falling-over lack-of-forward-movement when trying to read left to right, perhaps that's how they make you stop and form the words and anneal them in your mind, making them supposedly more memorable -- was it designed by a left-handed Arab-speaker? [ Sans Forgetica ] is not for speed-reading or page-skimming, and definitely not for facilitating quick visual page scanning and finding something important that you read a while back, something that you want to recall and quote accurately. Font-design wise, we can all Google search images for [ Top English is more readable than Bottom English ] for yet another perennial exploration of how much of a font can be eliminated and still communicate. I look forward to a working extension with clear, unambiguous, and effective, right-click controls. Font wise, does anyone experience [ Sans Forgetica ] helping them learn something easier than any other way they have ever learned anything? Of is it really just [ Say Forget-About-It ]? Thanks. .
As a grad student I read, a lot. However, the limited functionality on websites makes this extension of little use to me.
Sporadically works on some websites, and disables itself on every link click - meaning every time you browse to a new page you need to re-enable the extension - unusable in this form, but an interesting idea.
It works when you: 1) highlight the text, 2) click the icon so that it turns red 3) click again on the highlighted text. Thanks, RMIT. I'm looking forward to putting this to use.
Useful and understand what the purpose is which is really great. Buuuuuuuut there's a little problem, it only works when I highlight the text and click the text but it doesn't "release" (i don't know how to say it, english is not my language) the text and let me read the text I've just transformed, that makes the reading pretty uncomfortable
Is this a cruel trick? I have followed the instructions. I've tried clicking the extension icon, both red to white and white to red while highlighting text in chrome browser. I have come to the conclusion that someone needs to invent an extension to implement this extension. I've never had such a difficult time making an extension work in my life.
it works but i need to highlight every single sentence manually. it would be better if the entire page would use the new font when the extension is activated without the need to highlight it.
not working. that leaves a bad impression. its good idea though.
This appears to be nothing more than a trick to get users to install Google Chrome. Installed Chrome, installed the Sans Forgetica extension, jumped through many hoops, and yet when I try to actually use Sans Forgetica...nothing happens. There appears to be no way to get any text to appear in Sans Forgetica mode. Some instructions would be nice. Waste of time.
Doesn't seem to work for me. Also, what's up with the average rating being 5/5 when there are 0 5 star reviews?
G'day, not working on OS 10.6.8 and Version 49.0.2623.112 beta (64-bit), including this page.
Works as in converts selected text to the new font, but needs more testing and fine tuning. Letters seem not to scale and looks like they are set to bold by default which, in some cases, distorts the page. Also, for me atleast, broke some page text input fields open wikipedia homepage, enable the extension, and try to enter anything in search fied(field gets selected but, nothing happens on keypresses), also, inputs worked on google web store and not google search page :D
It appears the extension doesn't work on chrome. Installed it and clicked it, but the text does not change. Also installed the font on my computer.
It's not working for me. I'm using Chrome on Kubuntu.
Not bad but not great either. FYI: Click on the extension. When it's red, it is activated. THEN Highlight the text you want to change. Voila
How does it work? More info is needed.
This is not working on my chrome
Not working on Chrome 69.0.3497.100 OSX 10.11.6.
Doesn't seem to be working on Chrome 69.0.3497.100 / OS 10.13.6 either
Sounds a good idea, but does not seem to work in my Chrome browser on Windows?
Cool idea! Would be great if it worked with Google Docs.
I need a mobile app for this.. i do most of my reading on my phone and tablet and only work on my laptop. It would be fantastic if i could enable this on readers like Flipboard and on my mobile browser window. I assume that this doesn't work for entire texts as they make large bodies of text too hard to read? If that's the case could we get a version of this that has some amount of "desired difficulty" but not as much as this one?
