Seems to work, even though Google hasn't touched it in 3.5 years. And, I was not able to find any documentation on how to properly use this or interpret the results. Google is one of the wealthiest companies on the planet, yet they can't find their way to hire a small team to maintain and document this tool? Typical Google Greed.
It used to work perfectly with the previous version but now, with GA4 doesn't work anymore.
As of today this is the extension Google recommends we use to Debug GA4 events. Works great!
Sadly I can't use this because we apparently have 5,000 "Debug devices" with similar names. Until they fix this... it is useless and we can't validate any tracking. How did they miss this?
Nothing happens, nothing in console. Icon says ON. No settings? Not sure what its even supposed to do. All the preview screenshots are super blurry.
This just saved us hours of more troubleshooting, thank you!
My trackingId is G-XXXXXXXXXX , I get this in browser console "The tracking Id should only be of the format UA-NNNNNN-N." I think this plugin should be updated with the new trackingId format
very terrible it was debugged couldn't code the s word so it was very terrible
Super fast, and better than alternatives I've tried that constantly crash.
I use this every day!
Helped me find out what was wrong with my site, but didn't provide built-in resources to help fix it.
It's a really nice way of browsing GA hits. So much cleaner than the official GA plugin. However, it's not maintained (most recent commit 2 years ago) and it doesn't actually pick up every hit. I've noticed sometimes I'll click something, the plugin won't show it, but I'll see the event in the network inspector and in GA so I know it fired. It's a shame because this plugin is really nicely designed but without knowing it's picking up every hit, it's almost useless.
ITS VERY GREAT THANKS
doesnt work unfortunately
Doesn't work half the time
It loads analytics_debug.js instead of analytics.js on any website you visit (and when you have turned the GA Debug to ON). Which means that you can analyze how Google Analytics is implemented without having access to the code on the server. I have used it for many years and it has saved me tons of time. If you are a developer or somehow working with Google Analytics, this plugin is a must for you! But remember to to turn it OFF when you don't need it, since it slows down the loading of the websites you visit (not much, so you won't probably notice it...) I can see from recent reviews that some had trouble to get it to work. Try restarting the browser and turn GA Debug ON and OFF a couple of times and it will work.
Doesn't work
Doesn't work.
nice
Very helpful for my needs!
Make easier to analyze google. Great tolls to learn more and more about googling
V.NICE
what a godsend! i have this homegrown debugger but you have to turn it on and off, can't deploy to production, etc. they should make the ego header a little smaller, and offer the option to show collapsed hits by default.
super useful!
you need to be debugged
Its very old now and is not maintained. You won't be able to see any of the new stuff like enhanced eCommerce.
Fantastic, quickly found what was erroring when trying to make hits to you GA. Useful tool.
I didn't know something like this existed. Turn off your ad blocker, turn on your console (cmd+alt+J) and prepare to feel immense love for the developers of this extension. All Google Analytics data that is sent by your browser is shown by the debugger! Including verbose stuff that you didn't know even existed. 5 stars!
Really useful. Depend on it for all my testing.
Didn't work at all!
Did absolutely nothing
Amazingly useful. Look at your console, and know if GA or universal is working or not. Just a few days ago, it stopped working... Maybe need for an update...Please !
The instruction are not terribly clear and intepreting the output is not easy. Would be helped by a little more documentation.
Pretty frustrating to install and not be able to turn it on. Click on icon? Didn't work (though enabled).
No instructions at all. No idea how this is meant to help debug anything. As a Chrome extension the lack of information is really poor. I would have expected better of Google.
Switching to Universal Analytics and looking for easier ways to analyze the data being sent to Google. I came across this extension and it has saved me so much time. I highly recommend this extension.
Brilliant, essential, really clear and helps so much with debugging.
I began using this at work and I've not had any issues so far. Does a great job at debugging analytics events.
nice
Works as Intended except I cannot remove my preview analytics window - its just a crappy iframe port of the tags page - seems to fire automatically if I have a tag embedded - WHY CAN'T I TURN IT OFF!!!
useful
GREAT!
It doesn't seem to do anything at all.
Super handy for verifying your event tracking is working since there is a lag between it showing up in the console.
Work for me with the modern Analytics.js code, showing "create", "set", "send", and "event" calls logged in the Console. Good stuff.
Doesn't work at all. No readout. No instructions. No options. Nowhere on the internet explaining how to fix it either.
It failing instantly. Installing, but confusing icon and no action, the page flickering and not showing anything.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detected 9 files in this extension: PUP.Optionnal.BrowserCoupon.A I suggested that you uninstall that extension!
Works with Universal Analytics. Very useful.
Doesn't work at all.
love it
Looking at a previous review it looks like it's recently been updated, as it's supporting universal analytics ok.
i think this extension is bugged .. i get lots of ads with this extension enabled .. not adviced..
Very Good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I notice some users having experience with the Universal Analytics, but I have to give it 5 stars because for basic use, it's great, you can't beat it.
Not working. No icon is showing up.
It sometimes needs to be toggled on/off if it does not work but generally does a good job to debug GA tracking. Works for testing Universal Analytics implementations for me - the hit just looks a bit different in the console because the syntax is different, not sure why it does not work for others..
It is a great tool to debug custom ga.js code.
I normally love this tool, but it hasn't been able to detect any of our new sites using Universal Analytics. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem.
Works great.
Usefull app, but does the souce code really need to be minified? Would be much more useful if we could debug the source too!
Love it!
Totally essential!
Fantastic tool for anyone debugging a Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager installation.
Terrible instructions, as always from Google.
Great tool. super useful.
great plugin
It's not kept up-to-date with the newer analytics tech, like universal analytics. It also sometimes needs to be toggled on-off a few times before you see anything in the console. If it was more reliable, it would be a *great* tool.
Works perfect first time
Pretty good. Doesn't include everything, but enough for basic debugging.
Doesnt help with with analytics.js
cool~
Handy plugin but it could be better, sometimes it has a tendency to not do it's thing. Also it would be nice if it was updated to show everything sent to Analytics like the content experiment chosen variations.
Very useful. Would like to know how accurate it is, is the data displayed a response? or is it just the request? As some stakeholders require the data to be in GA dashboard in order to be happy with the implementation.
I like it a lot. You just need a new icon :P
Apparently it doesn't work with Google's new analytics.js flavor?
Don't #measure without it.
It is a great tool to debug custom ga.js code, since the Google Analytics dashboard does not have real-time event tracking features.
[imho] Brilliant extension, instantly as useful as the famous WebDev toolbar. Simple to use, instant feedback saves waiting a day for Google Analytics to update. Have never done GA events and I'm not that good at JavaScript really ... a morning later I have custom events, hash tracking n all sorts working like a boss.
Not able to download. It show added to chome button. But i check on my extension, can't found that extension.
Good extension.
Helped me track down a rather esoteric event tracking issue.
Great, simple to use, but it may be hard to use when a lot of data is sent to the console.
Please update the icon—it’s super aliased :-(
Very helpful to evaluate Google Analytics installations.
Extremely helpful extension. It will show you what information a site is sending to Google Analytics in a simple and organized way. Great both for debugging and competitive analysis!
love it
Helped get my codes working when the api didn't function as expected.
Thank you Google for this extension! It is great!!! It showed me the problem immediately. After 1 day of research and forum discussions … I finally found the problem! Thank you a lot!
This extensions is fantastic, UNTIL you upgrade your analytics tracking code to utilise Double Click remarketing, then it ceases to work. Please update the extension to work with both types of tracking code.
Great product. Hopefully the remarketing version of the GA script will start working with the plugin soon. According to a filed bug report for this extension, Google is working on fixing that.
Great tool for debugging, but does not work if you use the remarketing code. If you could fix that, it'd be fantastic.
When it works its great. Currently it won't show on my toolbar due to the icon have an issue. Please fix! ----- Resource interpreted as Image but transferred with MIME type text/plain:
Love this, however recently it looks like it is no longer showing which commands are processing. It just shows everything after the tracking beacon was sent. The commands that were processing were very helpful, and I hope this comes back.
Very very buggy, usually requires me to refresh the page multiple times in order for it to show any tracking information (it is not because of cookies/cache, as I have tried in a fresh session with the same buggy results). This would be a very useful plugin if it worked as advertised. I hope Google can work out the bugs!
This is a great tool, but I've noticed that it doesn't always display the info as it is supposed to. It appears that the data is being sent to Google as it should, however, because I can see the _utm.gif on the page when I look at my resources. Maybe it's because the debug js file isn't loaded soon enough? For this reason, I am giving 4 stars.
This plugin is great when it works, but most times I have to reload the page first to see anything (the first time, ga.js loads, not the debug script). This makes it a bit frustrating, and also makes it impossible to test certain things if reloading violates what you are trying to track.
Often doesn't work. I see nothing in the JS console on pages that clearly have the call to _trackEvent. Hasn't helped me debug at all.
