This is nice, I would perfer if it would act like most spell checkers and just underline words that misspelled in text areas and keep things simple. I don't like the spell checker being opened as a pop up, or as a tab. :( blarg. The spell checker part of it is just fine so that's nice. I don't know what's wrong wth googles built in checker but it isn't working at all so had to go find an extention.

I love this app. Even if you are not even close it will give you the a few words to chose ..

It is a great tool for a poor speller like myself and I would recommend it to anyone and have done that.

I really like this checker. It simple and easy to use. I been using this for 2 years now, but I dont know what happen, it does not load properly, always says "This site can’t be reached". :(

Completely useless. Uninstalled it immediately. Too slow, full of ads.

it sucks. Does NOT auto correct tho the box is checked to do so. Have to click at upper right of page and a box comes up. Have to enter word, click to check, and below, correct spelling then shows.

I have been using this for well over a year now. An absolute must to have, very very helpful as my "speed" typing and my spelling do not work at the same rate. Suggestions are easily readable, understandable and replacement of the wrong word/spelling simple. Very pleased and even more impressed.

Worst spell checker ever......I accidentally mistype something like surprise by adding a letter like surplise and it given you twenty option of garbage....this happens constantly.

Authors of this plugin are idiots.

Spell checks SOMETIMES

It says it checks English spelling, but it actually means American. There doesn't appear to be any option to set it to check in English English.

A hassle to use. Too many additional clicks to correct a word,. Opens a separate window to an interface that must have been designed in the early 1990s. The corrections are very hit and miss too.

It doesn't seeem to do anything. I might as well not have installed it.

I Like it for the most part, but there are times when it doesn't pick up I think mayb <~~~~is a little lazy.on a misspelled word, so I was just checking out settings, and they are kind of confusing. I'll figure it out, and I recommend this program, because actually I haven't seen any better, as of yet. If you look up it didn't pick up (mayb)

The spell check has always worked well for me. I recently am have a problem with it and can't find where to get help? The red line that indicates a misspelled word is attaching itself to the word before it when I click it to fix the word. This is happening on FB and FB messenger.

Spell check seems to work ok, but today it started opening a window that I can't access because of it's position on my screen. It'll open and have the nav, text box and everything else above the top edge of my screen. If I expand it to full screen I can use it and resize from there, but that's annoying. Every time it opens it'll put it in a different spot and it always has the top edge above the top edge of my screen as if it thinks my screen is larger than it actually is.

Worthless. Clicking its icon brings up a very confusing matrix that does nothing.

See a lot of negative reviews. I think Spell Checker does exactly what it was created to do. Saves me from those embarrassing typos which being a writer of sorts really helps my screeds read correctly.

I have had excellent luck with this Google add-on, but I use it only as a back-up to spell checker built into my emails by checking the spell check box in the advanced settings section of Google Chrome. I depend on Grammarly for most of the heavy lifting. Grammarly is an exceptional tool for checking spelling and grammar.

Useless I'm afraid, does not work at all, so added Grammarly, and see what THAT does. Don't hold out much hope though. Hang on a mo, it's working, or something is.

Not intuitive. Have not found any alternative to cut and paste to get text spell checked.

Are you kidding me? I purposely typed a paragraph riddled with spelling errors and this didn't even catch them! It's not worth using.

It's a bit intrusive, slowing down the word processing function but I would be lost without it. I would be exiting my word program to see the application of a word and the spelling. This application is seamless inside your text body. It would have gotten a greater score if it wasn't so persistent on the "rating game". Would I have rated it if it was not as persistent? Probably not, so there's that.

It could be simpler, less complicated to use.

So is it worth it to have it ?????

This extension is a must have with Gmail.

It sucks. Does nto spell check half the time and when you try to get it to do so it highlights mispelled words but gives you no options of correctly spelled words. Useless! Notice I misspelled soem words IT DID NIOT CORRECT! Or offer options.And it is enabeled. Garbage !

Does not do what you'd expect it to. And that is not stated in the description either. (Only works within its own little text interface, not on all of your input across applications and websites.)

I accidently added its to the dictionary and I can't find a way to take it back out. Add "remove from dictionary" for 5 star rating.

Does Not correct spelling errors. I purposely made errors and it would not detect them. I reported as Malware

TED Holly's May 9,2015 review helped me. After much frustration right click (two finger tap on my Chromebook mousepad) opened a box with the correct spelling at the top. The same box has a "spell checker option" box that I Clicked on and checked the "check the spelling of text Fields", then misspelled words are underlined in red. The overview print is too small to get this info, trial and error worked. - update - June 27,2016 - quite working -the fix - after signing into Chrome the tab that opens on the top of my screen "Spell Checker for Chrome options" first option, "Chrome content menu, enable" when I checked that box the first fix I talk about got it working again.

I've been using this Spell Checker for years now. It's not ever failed me. I run Windows 7 Pro on one computer Windows 10 Pro on another never a hiccup!

NO ARABIC SUPPORT! Although the overview says it supports Arabic as one of the 25 languages.

Not intuitive, impractical, always opening a new window and does not even have a comprehensive dictionary for spelling correction.

Fails in the most important area: doesn't actually correct spelling errors. I typed "spellign" and "erors" to test this, and it didn't pick up on either.

Worked well, then stopped working. But only on my lap top. Toshiba Satellite with windows 10. Works on school computers and work computer that are running windows 7 or less.

I was looking for an extension that spell checked in browser. this was not it.

Bon soir. Ca va? The C of Ca needs an accent (a cedilla). This great Spell Checker does not indicate that it's wrong. No red highlight at all. So you have to know how to spell French words what makes this crapp useless. Deleted it.

It's an embarrassment saver, unfortunately if you accidently hit "save to dictionary" when you meant to hit "correct spelling," it can't be undone. Update: Hasn't worked in 2 days. Needs an update.

"This web page is not available." That's the only thing it does. One star because the message itself is spelled correctly.

Difficult to use

Summary: not very intuitive to use; useless for any internationalization. Start-up was not intuitive for me, and there was no real documentation (that was obviously indicated.) Certainly this is not a trivial app, but it could use some refinements. One thing that's particularly frustrating is it's failure to recognize blatantly non-English words as an issue. I'd hoped to use this to correct foreign words from the simple 26-char Latin alphabet we use in English, to the extended Latin alphabets used in other languages. Example 1: It does nothing with Turkish the name "Yesim" (or "yesim"), even tho I've configured SC4C to respell both variants of this word correctly to Yeşim. I'm guessing SC4C is deferring to Chrome dictionary before it looks at how I've configured it in this case. On the other hand, . . . Example 2: I've configured it to respell "ozcan" & "Ozcan" correctly as "Özcan." In this case, both "o" variants get the red underline in the SC4C window, but when I hit the "Go!" button, the response is "Spelling errors were not found." Finally, a more behind-the-scenes issue: in its settings page, it has a User dictionary with a "sort" button. This seems to do nothing. Perhaps more an incidental complaint against Chrome than this extension: Neither the base app nor this extension give any visibility into -- much less ability to change --Chrome's own dictionary. Of course, none of this entire discussion would be necessary if Chrome honored the O/S' own typing correction feature.
