Garbage, Doesn't apply encryption, sign, encrypt and sign options to gmail.
Prático,na vanguarda e de formato invador.
Works like a charm on 64 bit Chrome 55 on Ubuntu 16.04. Would be nice with some keyboard shortcuts. For sensitive data I do not use gmail even with this extension though.
False sense of security. It has you write the message in Gmail's editing window (which means it's saved within seconds to Google's servers), before any encryption is done. See Mailvelope (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mailvelope/kajibbejlbohfaggdiogboambcijhkke) for a proper implementation – the writing is done locally only, in a pop-up window, then encrypted, before any of that text leaves your system.
i love this software it works well
no longer seems to function and ui shows up twice in compose window
Good work! Bravo!
It starts out beautifully--generating the key pairs is super easy, and it lulls you into a sense of well-being that is just as false as Mailvelope's empty promises. Once you actually try to encrypt an email, it does not do anything. Nothing was encrypted.
It doesn't seem to work anymore.
Nor working. It ALWAYS says "unable to find a private key..." Chrome 44.0 /Windows 8.1
Nice
Private keys are generated but the "insert private key:" option is broken in Chrome OS, no key is inserted..
As other security addon. It does not encrypt attachments. While adding the buttons on the compose window is good; but it would be nicer if your own composer window is used.
Does not work using Chrome 41.0.2272.101 Windows 8.1 Started to worry that this app when it failed to verify my chosen password by asking me to enter it twice when generating public keys. With that in mind, well done to the developer for attempting to create this app. I wish you every success
I like how the buttons integrate into the Gmail window, but it doesn't stop the cleartext from getting saved as a draft. Since the main person I'm trying to protect my data from is Google ads, this defeats the whole purpose.
I've imported both my private key and my friend's public key but the extension is unable to decrypt anything.
Does not work. No way to export the key to send to others. Tried sending encrypted/signed mail to myself. Entered the password properly and clicked "decrypt" and says it cannot decrypt my own message!
Close but not rabbit. But I see that it is being developed so I'm very interested, will use it and see where it goes. The thing I miss most right now is the possibility to handle attached signatures. Keep it up and the stars will come!
Tried generating a key within the extension and importing a known working OpenPGP key and in both cases the extension refused to recognize the keys. Tiz useless until this gets fixed, hopefully ASAP.
Broken. Does not find private key.
Where do I get my public key?
Seems broken. Generated keys but still keeps asking me if I generated them in the options page.
It wants me to upload my private key. No.
Awesome work guys!
It's not that obvious how to sign the message with the new composer as the fields appear at the bottom of the window. That said, once signed, an email arrives with an invalid signature. So something is wrong. 2 stars as I like the idea to being able to encrypt / sign my message using webgmail. As soon this is fixed I will review my rating.
Great friendly UI and nice integration with gmail! I think this is a great extension. Very easy to use.
Excellent extension since it is not intrusive and included elegantly into Gmail's compose window - very easy to use. The fact that you can disable the automatic draft saving shows that the creator has put a lot of thought into the security aspect, i.e. keeping your message client-side until it is encrypted. However, with that feature lies my biggest complaint: I am unable to save drafts for emails I don't wish to encrypt. Also, the way the autosave prevention is implemented makes Gmail freeze/time out because it is unable to send the draft to the server: For example if you compose a new email and half-way through decide to check your sent mail folder. There should be a way to toggle autosaving in the compose window since it affects Gmail so harshly. That way you'd only disable it while you're typing an email that should be encrypted and as soon as it is encrypted, autosaving is automatically turned on again. Another useful feature would be the communication with key servers or maybe even integrating public keys in the contacts list. All in all an outstanding extension I'd recommend to everyone who wants to use encryption but not pass up the comfort that comes with Gmail and syncing your mails online. Keep up the great work!
Gmail integration is simple but works. Main UI could use some work. Support for fetching public keys from a key server would be greatly appreciated.
Looks like the code got fixed, and now encryption controls appear in the floating Compose box. Much better, thanks!
Can't validate signed mail due to underlying deficiencies in js crypto library. Also, could not decrypt the fourth email sent in an email thread. No error message provided, just does nothing.
It worked great for me. Sending and reading encrypted messages is very easy and intuititive. I think the app is constrained by the Chrome sandboxed environment, but it would be great if it could automatically look for public keys, and if it could access my GPG keyring, and if the error messages were clearer. And it would be nice to have more assurances about the secrecy of the secret key, and the decrypted content. But it does work well and elegantly. Great job!
After the initial finding-out-how-it-works, it's been a complete bliss to use. It's very simple, easy and most importantly SECURE to use. I've tested the out going packets using a sniffer, and nothing is sent in clear-text.
So simple a kid (or a newbie) can use!
Can encrypt messages fine, but can't decrypt them. I made sure I checked the box to encrypt to myself. However when I put in my password and press the decrypt button nothing happens. It would also be nice to be able to check a box saying you want the message to be encrypted, and only disable automatically saving the draft if that option is enabled. Then it would automatically encrypt the message when the Send button is pressed, and ask for the password at that point.
Excellent!
Very useful!!! Easy to use and practical. I recommend it.
Works well allows both encryption and signing (which some competitors don't). Would be nice if it could should your public key for easy copy/pasting to people.
It works very well and integrates easily with gmail. The only drawback is that the keys have to be maintained twice. Once on the OS and once in the browser. Due to browser design that clearly isn't a fault of this plugin so there's a five star rating for this extension.
This is a wonderful app. It's simple and easy to use. There's still some work to be done, but it does what it's supposed to. Best used in classic compose mode. Thank you.
Very simple to configure and to use! Just look the video and follow the instructions.
Very easy to use :) However don't like how it keeps your private key in the browser, I'd prefer that to be kept on a Pen drive seperate
Simple and easy to use. Would love a public key sync between devices and the posibility to manually encrypt text in the clipboard.
Signing worked. Encryption did not.
Great extension! It would be nice to have some export functionality for the keys. If you have many keys of friends, copy pasting is too cumbersome. Cheers.
It does not work when trying to decrypt and it doesn't generate keys for emails with '+' in them.
Good extension. Would love it if it could sync my keys between devices.
I found this extension to work decently. I found the software very easy to use and quick to setup. A few issues I had are: * The encrypt button doesn't always show up. * It allows you to encrypt the email twice by accident there losing the message as you can only decrypt once. * Emails that are sent encrypted are stored on the recipient's end as encrypted. This means that they must decrypt them each time. It also means when they click on the reply button the previous conversation disappears from the email and is replaced with the encrypted text. So there is no history sent with the new message. I believe this extension is based on a good concept however I don't believe it's polished enough to use in a commercial environment. I would like to see it's development continue to the stage where it would be useful commercially.
Great app! I tried GPG4Browsers before this and was having problems signing keys with it but no problems here!
Only sane implementation I could find for gmail that handles pgp like a charm.
Works like a charm. I tried using GPG4Broweser's version and was having trouble with it. However, I was glad to come across this and it works like a charm and was easy to install. As for importing private keys - no problem here! For those that have a problem please keep in mind that you need to remove all spaces from the 'block' data - hope that helps. Looking forward to future enhancements like multi-user functionality. Keep up the good work!!
Great app. But there are some rough edges. It does not seem to verify a signed message. All I see there is a "Decrypt" button.
Updated Review: Unable to import my private key. The version 11 update now prompts me with an error that the private key could not be read. My key was created using GPG4Win. It is a RSA 2048 bit Key. Importing Public Keys is working just fine, and I have no desire to create a new private key just to use this extension. I can even import my own public key, it is only the private key import that is not working properly in version 11.
Works perfectly if both sites are using this plug-in. Got some problems with other users, probably because they are using unsupported algorithms.
