Absolutely loved it, the best extension. A must have for any Chrome user. Unfortunately, both Chrome and Edge have natively built this feature in both the browsers. Been a user for more than 3 years. Happily uninstalling it now. Had a great time.
This version is buggy and hasn't been updated recently. Use the original instead.
I used to love this extension, but it now seems contaminated with viruses / malware. This extension is DIRTY and tries to redirect you to affiliate tracking links when you go to sites like BestBuy, Newegg, and others. This is all so that the creator/author/publisher can make a COMMISSION on whatever you purchase.I would not have even noticed these redirects if I did not have a network-wide ad blocker in my home (PiHole). Very slimy. P.S. A few examples of domains I have seen it redirect to are: flexlinkspro.com, prj11.com, shara.li, and others that I did not care to write down. All of these domains are connected to affiliate marketing networks.
After upgrade, it always suspends tabs despite i gave the option to suspend after 2 days.
I got this plugin to be able to recover from when chrome forgets the tabs I had open. For the most part it works until the suspender lost all of the sessions it had, which I have used inpast to recover when chrome " forgets" Today when I started chrome no tab were remembered and the great suspend shows no sessions Arrgghh!!! Be sure to export a session from time to time since the suspender can not be relied on to keep it own data
Be careful, this version (very) likely contains malware! I'm using a cleaned (unpacked) version I found at github aciidic/thegreatsuspender-notrack (no analytics tracking and removed rogue .js files) & it has worked great ever since (like title says :D)

Excellent! It reduces memory consumption without effort!
Only been using it for about a week but it does what it says. I set it to suspend tabs after 5 minutes. Along with other programs I was running at the same time, I was using 2.5 GB of RAM with 14 tabs open in the Brave browser. It dropped to 2.1 GB, almost a 20% reduction in memory. One of the tabs was a pinned tab so I set it to keep it unsuspected and it honoured that agreement. With only 4 GB of RAM and shared video (which can use up to 512 MB on my system), every bit counts! Impressed.
The default ( TGS ) way of suspending tabs is kinda flawed. As my tabs were lost after I deleted the extention before unsuspending the tabs. And it happened with many others I believe . But I came to find out that it was an ID10T error , speaking of me as well i.e user error . Some instructions would've been nice tho . clear up the confusion for others . And also setting the default suspend style to chrome's discard feature would be better imo . Edit : also the lost tabs could be recovered .. by installing the extention again . Btw feature request , opeining tabs from bookmarks while suspended .. with the discard feature .
Loaded with malware - browser redirect
"Matt Nomadic" is a liar and a thief. He is selling our information and providing unwanted redirects to other sites to collect affiliate money. This extension is even worse than the official one ever was. I've never seen someone so blatantly defend such inexcusable shady practices. I encourage everyone to pay close attention to what happens after you enter specific URLs. If you notice your browser suddenly and automatically redirect briefly to a completely unrelated site before finally taking you to the one that you intended, then it is because of this extension. They do this because they get an easy kickback from those sites. Not to mention, those random websites save cookies in your browser that track you without your consent. I will be reporting this to Google and to any tech news outlets that have previously run stories about the malware inherent in it. Shame on you for taking advantage of something useful that you didn't even create and exploiting its users for profit at the expense of their personal privacy.
It looks very cool, I was using old version from 2015 and I was happy to have it. I don't understand why previous version was deleted from Chrome store. I use this extension all the time! It is one of the best chrome extensions that I have used and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has a lot of tabs open at a time. It really saves processing power so I can do a lot more with a lot more tabs! The best extension that I have on my computer. It saves a lot of time and money!

While I like what it is SUPPOSED to do, it 100% does redirects to other sites like others have mentioned. The main one that I noticed was that frequently when going to Walmart.com, I get redirected through https://www.mylittleblondebook.com/go?to=walmart&m=1 and then to Walmart.com . To be sure that this was happening without me missing it, I modified my HOSTS file to redirect www.mylittleblondebook.com to 127.0.0.1 (loopback address). Sure enough, the redirect doesn't go through and stops at https://www.mylittleblondebook.com/go?to=walmart&m=1. I believe this is being abused so that site will collect referral payouts. I will be reporting this behavior and hopefully Google will take it down. I'm also going to hopefully report it to Walmart as they are possibly paying out a lot of money to that site. I have done some homework on the owner of that site (which I'm sure hardly anybody is buying from) and she seems to live a pretty lavish life.

It's a good extension, it can basically decrease memory usage by half if you have a lot of unused tabs open.

It's awesome. One thing I'd like to suggest though When clicking refresh on a snoozed tab, it should load the original page not the placeholder page

Although all the history with the extension being bought and place malware by the new owner. This extension still uses the same (or very similar logo) leaves me questioning... But anyway, I was just here to tell this extension doesnt seems to work well when working with "Tab Groups Extension"(maybe?), because when the tabs are suspended they seem to move from the window they are to the current window that is open (i think), it leaves all my tabs disorganized
Awesome tool, saves a lot of battery and improves performance. Really Loved it.

Um, Is there a way to change the theme colors from white to dark. The standard option in settings, doesn't seem to work. Other than that great addon. I've been using it for years.
Ive loved it up until now but my browser has unistalled it claiming it to be contain a virus. Im guessing a new update messed things up so idk

Be Aware that this extension was sold and this is not from the same previous extension's author. Simply being sold does not mean that it is now a malware but developers found malicious tracking scripts, sending analytics to a suspicious host, inside this new version of The Great Suspender. My suggest is to try alternatives, search google the name of this extension for more information.
How do I know if this version has any malicious tracking? Does Google have any safety checks before allowing this extension to be posted and installable?
