This app used to work way better in the past. Now it takes a long time to connect, and when it connects, my mouse does not always work on the remote desktop (I have even tried using the relative mouse mode, but still doesn't catch the mouse clicks). Copy and Paste always USED to work, but that doesn't work at all anymore. I have allowed "clipboard" access as well as "insecure content" per other reviewers, but I can ONLY get it to work if I click either "Upload" or "Download" a file first, then click "cancel", then click PASTE, then it will work. I need to find a better alternative. It has become USELESS at this point.

Unuseable. Image shown on remote side is of monitor 2 but monitor 1 is the one being controlled. and on monitor one it does not give access to the full screen, the bottom and right side is not useable

One of the best tools google has honestly. Been using it for idk 4 years or more. I think its one of the best remote connection software's with no cost. Does it have maybe some missing interface features possible realistically its just a simple tool.

I really liked this extension but then my google search results on desktop started showing messed up, like translation box would just disappear, I disabled other extensions and it was fixed when I disabled this one

this extension is very unsafe nowadays. using this someone attacked my pc and accessed all my accounts even my sicial media pages. even they hacked my facebook account and facebook assistance wasnt heplful as they just have auto reply system and there is no customer services....

NOT SAFE anymore I'm using this about 1.5 years but some one was able to connect to my desktop remotely today with out my permission . I stopped sharing and changed my password , but I don't think it will work to protect my data

Chrome Box can't setup Remote Access. Not supported. Why? "Remote access is not supported on this device. Please visit this URL on a Windows or macOS computer to set it up for remote access."

On description it says: "Chrome Remote Desktop is fully cross-platform. Provide remote assistance to Windows, Mac and Linux users, or access your Windows and Mac desktops at any time, all from the Chrome browser on virtually any device, including Chromebooks." But in same time on g.co/crd/setup it says "Remote access is not supported on this device. Please visit this URL on a Windows or macOS computer to set it up for remote access." What? Does it works on Linux or not?

App is ok. Web is better. Next to no lag, and it's free without ads or needing to pay for subscriptions. But I get no audio from host PC to my phone. The audio plays on the PC as normal, but nothing comes out of the phone. Good if all I wanted was to check a few files on my PC, bad since I wanted to do more than that, like playback a video on LAN or read some visual novel on steam or something

Sorry for all the people that do not rate it 5/5; but, this is the best fully free solution available. Performance may vary, but most of the time for remote assistance or simple remote access to your computers, this is simple and effective.

Useless: - doesn`t have an "add device" button - and worst: you can't add your own Chromebox to your phone it seems like it is just a program meant to spy on other brands

Requires Google account. Lack of clear instructions. No evident way to set up permanent connection with your own computers, thus requiring assent every time on remote PC. No evident way to change resolution after initial (wrong) choice. Uninstalled in favor of Any Viewer.

2022 - Unable to click on anything in CRD, whether from phone or from actual PC itself (looped connection). Never had problem until this year.

I hadn't considered the chrome remote desktop app. I was using TeamViewer, but this other app surprised me I gave it a try and it allowed me to use my remote computer a country away, it has some little lag ofc but that is due the two connections speed. It is very usable and the full screen mode makes it better. Also recommended to use if you have a chromebook and a desktop to connect.

Once upon a time this was a fairly streamlined extension that worked reasonably well, not as good as RDP or even VNC but it was very convenient. For quite some time this has not been the case. Now if I'm lucky I can get a screen update every 20 seconds or so. Most of the time I get the stunningly unhelpful "This is taking longer than expected." message. I can quite seriously drive home, click a couple of buttons, go get a coffee on the way back to the office and still be back at work quicker than doing the same operation via Chrome Remote Desktop. Do better.

Mouse pointer bugs out a lot where it is comically too small to see.

When trying to access my Mac from my iPhone the cursor clicks register in a location very far from location tapped on my phone. It is not usable at all.

CRD works great on Windows. But I can't for the life of me get it installed in Linux Mint. This is an issue that has been ongoing for years and no response at all from Google on it. Using the web URL doesn't register that the required package is installed.

Served me well thru COVID and now will not work. Says certificate isn't secure and lists Bing for some reason. Chrome even blocks it.

No longer works as of a recent Chrome update (early 2022). It was always kind of janky but it worked rather reliably until recently. I've tried everything in the useless help file, even shutting down my firewall on host and client and tried using multiple computers (all Windows 10 x64). It simply doesn't work. I've switched to another free desktop sharing app that works flawlessly without any hassle like Chrome Remote Desktop.

Completely unusable The cursor is so far off and so misaligned from where I am actually clicking that I can't do a single thing through remote desktop. Apparently this bug has been going on since at least 2019, possibly earlier. I tried all the "work-arounds" I found online, none worked. Insane that they haven't fixed this.

What is going on with google. Chrome and remote desktop have made my last week of work hell. I am currently seeking other options in case things are not corrected soon.

Downloadable version gone? I have used Chrome remote desktop up until this week. There is a new change where you have to the Chrome desktop app installed in the browser. The downloadable version is no longer available. This is a big problem as previously i used chrome desktop to remote on when the client device was switched on, allowing me to remote log in the machine. Now with the browser extension version you can't do this as you need the client to be already logged in and have chrome open! Please allow the desktop version to be brought back as this causes big issues for us now. :-(

Another remote tool that stops control when entering admin contexts of ms windows. Useless.

Работает быстро, подключается даже когда пользователь не вошёл в свою учётную запись в Windows, никаких ограничений по времени сессии, удобная передача файлов между компьютерами, не нужны никакие proxy-сервера и т.п. и т.д. После начала использования этого расширения я вообще перестал использовать все другие альтернативы. Даже один раз пригодилась возможность подключения к своему домашнему компьютеру с мобильного телефона (на Android).

the cursor and touch when you remotely control from iphone, is completely misaligned and off...you cannot do anything

Love it when it works but it's so iffy on whether or not it works, Says cannot connect more then it actually connects. It was the same with my old Android as it is with my Iphone. Happened on both. Leads me to not using it, thinking about uninstalling it. Please do better Google, I've already left Android phones because of how long it takes or even caring if things have bugs

It was working perfectly fine until few days back,,, showing weird error "This is taking longer than expected. You may have a browser extension installed that is blocking automatic playing of videos. Try disabling all extensions or try connecting in incognito/private browsing mode" and after this, nothing working at all.. even I tried to remove/ disable all other extensions but nothing works.

It's got problems with Mac OS Monterey. It's asks you to install every 1 hour or so. This is causing serious problems in our office. Please fix it as soon as possible. This happens on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

Worked great... until it didn't. And Google's support is "community driven" at best. My screen won't refresh, so I have to quit CRD and then re-open the viewed just to see a screen change. This used to be an awesome app where I could use any program remotely. But now it's unusable. Not sure what changed, since I didn't upgrade or change anything on my Mac.

Doesn't provide the same functionality on Chrome OS. From a Chromebook, I can see my listing of other devices to connect to. But, I can't add my Chromebook to my list of devices so other computers can access my Chromebook. The only way it works is to use the Remote Support share this screen one-time code. While this works, it doesn't provide the functionality like on Windows and the Mac. Really strange that Google has crippled Remote Desktop for their own OS. Please Google, fix this so it's usable on a Chromebook so I can access my Chromebook from anywhere just like I can with Windows and the Mac.

It's a great program. Y'all who are having issues need to a) stop using walmart wifi, b) buy a computer from after 2012 and I promise you'll be fine.

Has not been updated for years. Your mouse pointer never matches remote computer. Been like this since 2018. Tried many computers over the years. Google should just remove this app.

Worked fine until today. Now when I try to connect from my laptop to my desktop, I get the message "unable to authenticate due to a server error" I do not get this when connecting from desktop to laptop. Have already gone through the dance of uninstalling/reinstalling without success. Google's support forums have no answer. More accurately multiple people have posted questions about this error, and Google has not replied. One of the posts has even been locked from replies. How exactly do I get help with this issue if people who have had this issue before me have been ignored?

Accessing my mac through my android phone.. Maybe the remote keyboard could use an upgrade. but this is awesome ??. Just found out while using this that we can also use the default phone key board for sending texts.. This is too good ?

Beautiful from Windows to Windows, or Android to Windows. The new "feature" making the Extension Button an overlay in full screen has been removed! Much appreciated. They listen! Overall this app is top notch, beats Team-Viewer, and there's no pressure for a subscription, hope it stays that way. Windows UAC prompts are available on the remote PC, allowing installations, and admin functions such as the registry and device manager are available remotely. You can even ad-block the side panel if you want. No downsides to report.

Seems to have progressively gotten worse on Linux (specifically Mint with Cinnamon). Used to work well after doing some frustrating research and manually editing some configuration files. But after some recent updates, it completely fails to run the background services/daemons, and throws "unknown error"s when trying to setup any linux machine to be remotely accessed.

If we are working on multiple monitor we can't use full screen on dual monitors. we can choose any display only on one monitor or we have to manually resize the rdp window to two screens to use it. it would be great if there is option to use all monitors on user end.

best easy way to connect.

It's great, low ram/network consumption, simple... but i use 2 pc's with 1 monitor, i keyboard. To share I then need to go on a military operation of having to swap monitors, attach keyboard to other device various times as I need to send access code, then swap to accept the session, then if i drop connection on either 2 systems i have to repeat the process. For a great tool to be absolutely ruined by lack of basic functionality, I have to say I hate it, but will probably tolerate it until i find better

Simple AND easy. Perfect solution for 99% of my needs. By FAR the easiest way to link two computers. Shaking my head as to why this isn't used more broadly - beats TeamViewer hands down.

The computer I remotely access uses 3 monitors. When connected to it, I am not able to view each screen individually, only all three at once which is useless to me. Why am I not able to click on the desired screen to view it in full screen mode?

I liked it enough to keep this app. It took me a while to figure out how to get both devices connected. And there is no expansion that both devices have to be signed under the same google email account. But once you're past that it is pretty intuitive and easy to use and figure out. I wish there was a way either built in or another app. That can support this app by having a USB RDP for large data files and especially a form of compatibility with gaming controller support. Even with no controller support this app still can play games through the app vea keyboard or having a controller hook to my main PC in the room you're in. With not much delay and less cables I could use my laptop to replace my hot running “Wireless HDMI” device for a more wire-free and cooler efficient laptop though my own TV via “HDMI USB-C” cable. It's a good app if you want to organize files on the go, remote access programs that you could not use on your Chromebook, and have the ability to watch or listen to content from anywhere you want with a good WiFi connection. I do feel safer using this app because its a Google app product and thought there protection vea the apps pin# system while being connected to my own email password i feel more at ease that no one would access my main PC. This app could be better but for what it is it's just a fine innovative app.

Program was working great for a few weeks but now for multiple months it just lags out like crazy as if I had 5000ms ping. Closing chrome and re-opening it seems lower the ping for a few minutes but then it starts again. Nothing changed on my end, both my connections are stable. I suggest any other remote app than this one if you want to be able to be productive at all.

Doesn't work with M1 Mac in stand alone app, but works in chrome browser

They just provide a debian package for all the linux systems. So unusable for non-debian systems like fedora.

It's not great, the numbers on the android keyboard are sent as numpad inputs on the pc, therefore it doesn't work with desktop applications such as musescore, it's also infuratingly difficult to get the menu to appear at the top of the android app to make the keyboard open and close. Just use it to control youtube or netflix from you bed, for anything else it sucks big time. 0/10 I could make a better app

Works as intended. If anything it works better than TeamViewer in some regards. Have not had issues with setting up or connecting remotely to system.

I Enjoyed chrome remote desktop for a while now but it keeps deciding to say "Unable to reach desktop" yadahyadah because of my connection? how do i fix it?

Constant slow connections to other computers, no connection at times, dropped connections. Also copy/paste and other functions that are supposed to carry over in a remote session don't always work...they are hit and miss. Teamviewer is an annoying program, but it works better than this and I guess it may be time to go back to it.

BUG? Mouse pointer doesnt match. While on the desktop (on MacBookPro Big Sur) the mouse can be (I.E) on the top status bar, in the IOS App (Iphone X IOS 14.4) it can be anywhere else. Moving the pointer does not match the same location on the desktop and the ios app

What a great tool. It works and does exactly what I need it to do.

Chrome Remote Desktop is a good idea, but it is just very poorly implemented. Even on a fast, internal network, it simply does not work. It connects, but the screen is unusable. It is very pixelated with no way to refresh. I expected more than this out of Google. The world needs a simple, remote desktop access app that is free and just plain works. There are other applications that cost a fortune just for simple remote access. They work, but the price is simply not worth it for simple remote access. If Google will finally make this work right, I will give it another try, but as it is now, it is worthless and useless!

Cannot get my phone to pick up my P,C although I have installed the software and I am logged into my goggle account on both devices, I have checked through all the FAQ's to no avail, don't waste your time with this!

Great app, however, it is limited so it cannot replace, say, teamviewer or anydesk. Limited number of assisted hosts. No information on the internet about its limitation. Sad.

Very nice, super easy to connect to AND be connected by! Sometimes when I need help with my computer, with a blink of an eye, someone who can help me is connected. It can be a little slow, I admit, but overall this extension is super cool!

Just as advertised. Simple and great. Streaming games might have problems but that's not what this is supposed to be used for mainly. For programming and controlling the basic use of another PC, this is perfect.

It was terrible, doesn't even work. Can't even connect from my Windows computer because it wont give me a code to do so. Why is it even in the browser anyway, make an actual app and make it actually work, then i may decide to rate it a little bit higher

Installer doesn't work on windows7. chromeremotedesktophost.msi won't install. When using as admin msiexec /i “path\chromeremotedesktophost.msi\setup.msi“ it says the installer is broken or doesn't exist.

Doesn't work properly. When I turn it on, it doesn't turn on. Neither can I connect to and from any other device. Also chews up my RAM and hence, battery life decreased. Chrome is the main reason for my horrible battery performance, and extensions by Chrome are the worst. HORRIBLE!

Why the function 'send system shortcut keys while in full-screen' disappears suddenly? The function works excellently previous. I just found it disappears today. This definitely reduce my efficiency. Please add it back.
