IT DOESNT WORK ON WATTPAD AFTER TRYING NUMEROUS TIMES :(

extension refuses to open even after repeatedly clicking the extension button

doesn't work on opera GX but on chome its good for what it is made for.

the only good extension forcefully downloaded by schools

This partly worked when I first installed it but the text only feature didn't work half the time, then for some reason the bar would only show if the window wasn't full screen, then the bar would show but nothing happened regardless of what button you pressed. I tried reinstalling etc but nothing happened. Really gutted as it was helpful.

IT DIDNT WORK I KEPT TRYING, AND WHNE IT DID WORK IT WORKED ON RANDOM WEBSITES, I WAS JUST COPY AND PASTING BUT THE STUPID THING KEPT READING IT, AND WHEN I TRY WRITING A PARAGRAPH ON DOCS, IT KEEPS READING IT ANNOYINGLY, and for example i start trying on google docs, it goes "The stone fell in the po" WHen im writing a sentence , that's just one example of a sentence im still working on "The stone fell in the pond" But read "Th st fe" LIKE HUH???? anywyas terrible! Sometimes works, but most of the time doesn't work. SOrry i rate it 2 stars. or 1 star idk. Also get it if u want, but it's super annoying on google docs, mute it/

Not working on google chrome extension doesn't open very rare when it does when it does open and i want to use the mask feature it doesn't cover the whole screen and when you open a new tab it closes

My admin installed this and I don't use it nor do i find it helpful. couldn't figure out anything about how to use it other than highlighting.

I don't know what the extension is meant to do, nothing seems to happen when I try open it. But I have the desktop app, and encountered a screen masking issue. Mike from their support team was absolutely incredible, efficient, kind, and immediately helped me fix it. Fantastic support team!

Three Stars equates to "It was okay." This is true about this extension. It WAS okay.... five years ago. Now most of the features that made it useful are behind a paywall. There are probably other extensions that do the same things but without paying.

This is the only Text to speech app that I could get to work and it works beautifully. There was a brief hiccup where it stopped working, so I reached out to their tech support. Not only did they respond, they followed up when a patch was released to let me know that the issue has been addressed and fixed. So grateful for this extension. I seriously wouldn't be able to write my Dungeons and Dragons campaign without having my material read back to me.

This is the only text to speech extension I've found that works properly for Google docs. Recently, with a Chrome update, the extension broke so I messaged tech support about it. They answered quickly, promising to let me know when the issue was fixed. Lo and behold, a few weeks later they messaged to tell me it was fixed and it works great again. Highly recommend this extension.

Hard to use. Repeats one sentence over and over and wont read the rest of the highlighted text.

This is the only read-aloud add on I have found that will work in Locked Mode on Google Forms. This is a must for me when using Google Forms for assessments for my students.

it only works on google drive, which i know is the point but it would be cool if it could also work on any website :(

IT IS TERRIBLE I HATE IT

I couldn't figure out how to work the text to speech part at first till I highlight dragged a pargraph then a play button popped up, very helpful to have my college ebook read to me however the program highlights the words as it's reading but it's sooo slow, like no one ever has talked that slow, makes it confusing for trying to follow along, when i scroll down the page trying to keep up it asuto puts the page back up to where the program is highlighting what they think they are reading so i lose my place and i cant find if there is an option to turn off the 'highlighting as it reads' feature, just overall annoying.

the annoying bar pops up on every page i go on, and it's installed by admin so i can't remove it

i try to use it on a website and i didn't work but i know it does because i use it for school. this is dumb it need's to get fixed

This is the best app for students in elementary school, high school, middle school, and college! I've been teaching my students for over 4 years, and it still works! This extension has so many things, from reading your essay, or paragraph to you, your grammer, and a virtual dictionary! I suggest using this app for all your PDF's, documents, and Word. It doesn't work on PDFs. This isn't helpful at all for someone studying and needing to read journals.

Extensions works and its a must have for people who needs help learning!

It refuses to open. I'm trying to opening to help me with my school work so I can get things read to me and it just will not open at all. It worked great for me 2 years ago when I used it all the time and I just re-downloaded it and it will not work whatsoever.

Is no-one gonna talk about how this reads, and probably stores, everything you write...

three quarters of the toolbar do not work!(they are greyed out.)

I found I weird bug when continuing on Google. When I clicked Sign in with Google, it didn't go to verify its you and it closed the app. But overall it's a good app.

works 10% of the time

the voices never know when to stop and when to go when I click the read aloud button. the voices are also very robotic. to those of you who are having trouble with it ON A COMPUTER, go on your extensions and just click it. it should show up. if that doesn't work, then reinstall it. I have been using this for about 3 or 4 years and it works perfectly fine.

It was good until I couldnt use the Write and Text tool. My teacher gave me the assignment I showed her the issue she didnt know what to do and I cant print out my work cause my printer is broken :(

this app was forced on my pc WITHOUT permission! my school barely uses it, chrome says it's dangerous and temporarily removes it. then it comes back, then my pc starts crashing 1,000 times and i suspect that this application is causing all the crashes. chrome was right and this is clearly a VIRUS! i can't remove it, i can't delete it, communist plot.

A pain to use. So there's the chrome extension, and the software itself, neither of which seem to work properly. They can't read pdf's, and the options are confusing and hard to work. I'm going to keep looking for something better.

It is help me . Even though , I do have few problems but don't think is just because it at your end . I am a 9th grade story and sometimes has problems prouncing bigs word and hard vocabluray . I will attempt to reading at my own will . Then go over it get with read and write app . I knew my school used in the 8 th grade last year. Despite , I am doing this onsite , . I did have few problems when I was on KHan Acadmey . When it comes to those long passages on Khan Acandmey or Newsela it cause problems and changing the words . Just today , When I was on type on the Document called " Dream House Stockpile " their is a green glitches . I think those glitches . Last year through October 20 - Jan 30 I had a problem clicking on play button and when I go to another montior and computer combos and it will stop play 50% time the pause on it . A intresting for my family with computers : My dad accidnetally spilled coffee on his Dell Laptop but it normarlly will ruin it . It did exact opposite thing and maked the most unhaciable system . Depsite , Knowing that I have a hacker or I think I have one , I don't have any social medias accounts , or credits cards but he did help me couples time . He made the edcite not working for a little at time . He even help me finish the senetence for one that . I am also typing faster because I spilled nailpoilsh on J , N , B , M, and l keys on the qwerty keyboards.

This extension is really helpful when I am doing school work. Writing essays is significantly easier, since I am a slow typer because of all the spelling mistakes that I have to go back and correct. It allows me to dictate what I want to write, much closer to my thinking speed than when I am typing. Talking through my ideas is also excellent for continuing to form them, so that is helpful. There are a couple of issues that arise with it though. It doesn't consistently capitalize words at the begging of sentences, which seems like an oversight, and then it also randomly capitalizes some word in the middle of sentences. While I am quite excellent at reading things that interest me without assistance, I struggle a lot to focus on articles and books that are talking about things that I'm not already fascinated by, but the feature on here that reads things out for me makes sure that I stay on task, while highlighting the part that it is on so that I don't get lost. Love this feature! Also, the thing I didn't even know would help until I tried this is the screen mask, which helps direct eyes to one particular part of the page to read. The ability to highlight sentences with different colors is extremely helpful as well for finding key parts of the text later. I do really wish that this worked with PDFs though. My teachers frequently post articles or instruction in PDF form, and I want to use this for that as well, but it just does not work. Not even the screen masker, which seems like the easiest part to adapt for PDFs.

Cannot disable. Even the "Enabled" selection in the extension no longer pretends to work to prevent it from popping up on websites. Pure garbage that chews up memory and CPU cycles and leads to browser instability. How can this company produce something that cannot be disabled when force installed?

i love it

Had a ton of free helpful features at the beginning/before the pandemic, but then decided to capitalize off the pandemic by making almost every feature premium. I am extremely disappointed with this extension and with google for allowing this to happen.

I had it installed on my school computer by the SCHOOL DISTRICT, but it only has 30 days for the trial. I disabled it via the options, because I can actually read and write without the extension. Later, I tried to open it up again, but nothing worked. Millions of times, nothing worked. I tried to delete the extension, but it was installed by the school district and won't let me delete it, nor won't let me disable it via chrome://extensions. I think it's useless. By the way, it is useless after the trial ends, so I would scratch that off.

Aww, I had it but then when it said 1 day left, It COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED, And it's saying that I have it, still ☹️☹️ but I still like it, and that's why I want it again, PERMANENT.

I am so impressed with this program as an adaptive program for struggling learners. My mentees have been introduced to it and are learning what it can do for them during instruction. Hopeful that they will find it so beneficial that they'll speak to their administrators about it and get a license at least for certain numbers of children at their school. I am sold! Have been piloting it with an ADHD 3rds grader and in short order it has changed the level of burden and struggle to complete assignments in his regular classroom. In addition the talk to text feature has improved his diction and pronunciation tremendously as it cannot capture anything that is not articulated. clearly. I cannot say enough good things about this program. What a contribution to offer all the features to teachers for free!!

Something to know about this on Chromebooks. If you are using it with a student for remote learning and you are Zooming with the student - it may not work. Chromebooks have limited audio capability and Zoom is monopolizing the use of the audio - so the extension will not play the speaking voice. Once the Zoom ends - the extension will work

Hello I suffer from dyslexia , started using this inthe start of my bachelor of social science psychology aat western sydney university , now I am doing a Masters of Researchof social science , This program has help me in my study very much and I am planning to go on to do my PHD and will be still using Read&Write for Google Chrome , is a great progarm is great , and I want to thank you Google Chrome, because without it ,I wouldn't make it this far .

I tried it and it is use less without premium you can't do anything except 4 things !

This is simplifying our life and as a teacher its grooming us to the highest point.
