Not working

I loved it until it stopped working. Can't figure out how to fix it AND no sign from the developers that they are still working on this product.

THIS IS STILL USEFUL for those who still have the issue!!! Hi everyone, I want to share this to you all. If anyone has issue where "Popchrom" is not working, try to do the following: 1. Go to Chrome extensions (Ensure popchrom is enable) 2. Under Popchrom, click "Options" 3. Under Popchrom - Options, Click "Settings" 4. At "Shortcut for text substitution", click "delete" 5. Then click "edit" and press your preferred shortcut keys such as "Ctrl + space" 6. Go to "Text" tab on top left corner 7. Click "Save" button Try to use it again and it will work for you. For developer, I hope this issue will be fixed in the future. Sharing is caring!

Still not working after 7 months of Chrome update. I dont think these guys are developing it further. Shame was good while it lasted

Does not work on my Chrome browser, period. A real piece of crap.

I loved this at first but now it does not work AT ALL! So disappointing.

It was okay. It does not support the gmail compose windows, the standard or full screen one, it only supports the detached window (shift+Compose) version, which won't work for all of our users. I was looking to have the replacement string be able to have formatting embedded, such as: bold or italicize a certain part of the replacement string. Have not found if that is possible. Auto-replace on string detect would be preferred as other users have also noted.

Shortcut doesn't work.

Decha B. trick isn't working for me. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Using latest Chrome browser on Window 7 laptop.

I hate the fact that this app NO LONGER WORKS. I use the latest version of Chrome on Ubuntu Linux, 64 bit OS. It was great when it worked, however. *edit: rating changed after I followed Decha B.'s advice. It works again for me now (but how are other users supposed to know this? People are likely to abandon this extension.)

I loved it and had just recently started using it; now it no longer works. I will be glad to see it working again.

It was awesome when it was working, but it stopped working like others have said. I used it daily before it stopped.

I loved it but now it doesn't work at all.

When using in Gmail, it only works properly when replying to an email - not when composing an email. A workaround is to use the compose window by holding the SHIFT key when clicking the COMPOSE button. Another option is to install a "Fix Compose" extension which gives you the old Gmail compose interface.

The best text expansion solution I've used by far. I have no real complaints. I do wish using variables was a bit easier or had better documentation. Otherwise, it's wonderful!

Excellent and super useful. However, needs a ability to sync between browsers and save the data onto google account.

Wow. My Windows PC recently died and I decided to go the Chromebook route and a text-replacement app (like Auto Hotkey) was at the top of my list to find. I was about to abandon hope and start saving my text snippets in a Google Sheet or something when I stumbled upon this and it does almost exactly what I need! Thank you, thank you, thank you! (I say "almost" because I used to type (e.g.) "qxxx" and it would expand to my desired text. I've just set the shortcut to "q" so that I now type "xxxq" and it expands. It also doesn't work in the omnibox, but I can live with that.) PLEASE tell me where I can send a donation (in the hopes that it will encourage you to keep developing this terrific app.) Thank you again.

I love it. I can now use my Samsung notebook (Windows 8) like I use my iPad, without having to type long sentences, or my long email address everytime I log into a website.

Doesn't work in the browser address bar. And when I changed one of the pre-installed shortcuts, the change did not reflect in Gmail but it did on a web-based tool I use. Long and short of it is, this is a great tool on paper but it doesn't work across the board.

Works great on Mac. Doesn't work on Samsung Chromebook.

I was very happy with this until the latest release that suddenly needs the following permissions 'Access your data on all websites, access your tabs and browsing activity, access data you copy and paste'. I don't really know who creates this product, or who may have taken ownership of it, so am going to look for an alternative.

Use this on my chromebook and it is pretty good. I would like it to be more like text expander is on OS X without needing the command to operate. It's free and works if you are having problems try reloading the page the extension seems to need that the first time after that you are golden.

Yesterday Adrian helped me with getting Popchrom running on my Chromebook Pixel. Wow! I am a happy camper! Not having a good text expansion extension was holding me back from really committing to the Chromebook platform. Popchrom works, is fast, easy to use and features are being added on an ongoing basis. A side benefit is that the format of the import/export file looks like being easy to edit with a normal text editor. So it will be easy to add numerous abbreviations. Thank you Popchrom team...

why does it need to "Access your data on all website", "access data you copy and paste". I used to really like this but don't understand the new permission requirements

Great tool! Just can't find the extension button on my browser!

You can't export your words on Chrome or Canary on windows 8. It pops up a dialog box where you can't select the text.

Can't save backups because the exported text is in a Chrome dialog box, where no text is selectable (Chromeバージョン 25.0.1364.172 m, Windows XP 6.1.2500). Why not just put the export in a centred floating DIV? The text would be selectable, and you could maybe add Select All and Paste buttons like Google Translate. Also, it seems like when very many clips are added, the settings page will get extremely long. Could there be tighter spacing and collapsible categories?

I love this extension! Had an issue with an update and left a review here. The developer sent me a message and a day later it is all fixed! Forget textexpander or the others...this is all you need!

Has the keyboard shortcuts stopped working? I'm on chrome 25.0.1364.172

Finally updated :)

Worked for three weeks, then slowly stopped substituting string-after-string. Removal and reinstall didn't help. Javascript console shows serious errors and exemptions. may actually be malware.

The new version (1.5) again works with Gmail editors, both old and new compose windows. Great extension, very useful and a real time saver!

Thanks for the time and effort invested in this extension! I got pretty much the same features suggestions as other users: 1. Either Import/Export feature to save the texts OR, would be a better approach, to find a way to sync the text through the cloud, google docs, Dropbox of something similar. 2. Be able to extract text into a Google Document (or some other temporary 'notepad') so the user would be able to copy/paste into any other program!! This would be great since the function would be practically OS independent. Great work!!! Keep it up!!

Great time saver! Only feature I wish it had was an export/import for settings.

This is a VERY USEFUL add-on as I find myself typing the same text over-and-over again. Suggestion for future feature: Allow user text to be exported and imported. I have PopChrom on several computers and this would make life a LOT easier. The ultimate would be to set it up for that Chrome 's Sync feature did this automatically (shared the text between the different computers). Alternatively an option to save the text to Google Docs along with an option import from Google Docs would be a workable approach as well. Thanks!

Great! But it could be even better if I could export/import a file. I recently changed my computer, and I'm adding manually all texts.

Installed on Chrome OS - great. (Except that you really need rich text support). Bought a new Macbook, and was expected the shortcuts to sync (running chrome on both computers). While the extension synced, none of the shortcuts did. This is a real problem -- am I missing something?
