the light grey is somehow worse than flashbang white

Displayed some ad banner for another Chrome extensions... Made a redirection from the page I was viewing when I tried to close the banner...

Adware. Also it's very hard on the eyes. Just read the flashbang, please don't install.

Terrible. Contrast is nuts to the point where you have to really FOCUS in order to even be able to read the text. Yuk.

The text is a weird, hard to read color, and it spams you with ads.

Is broken; its just adware to lead you to another extension.

The concept is great, but the background color needs to be more saturated and the text color needs to be brighter.

Everything that helps in the work must be installed. An extension for owls, I often work at night, it greatly relieves eye strain.

within thirty seconds this extension proved to not just fail to darken a wikipedia page, it also served me an ad for another chrome extension to darken my browser. this extension is very bad

Doesn't work, adds ads. Wikipedia's still bright as day and there's new ads on the bottom. Literally worse than useless. Immediate uninstall.

adware. the colors turned out to pretty horrible too.

Wanted a dark mode for Wikipedia and, while this delivers, the text colour lacks sufficient contrast to actually read comfortable and it makes the links less usable. Would be fine with a few options but not useful as is.

MozarteanChaos October 25th, 2021

i don't see any reason why an accessibility change like this needs ads, nor why it would need to redirect me to another extension when i uninstall it. it also just looks kind of gross, honestly. yellow-ish text on a grey-ish background... not really that user-friendly.

Reported. Why do you need access to AliExpress? For those installing it, the info provided is sketchy if (window.location.href.match(/aliexpress\.com\/item\/(\d+)/) && cT) { var t = Math.floor(Date.now() / 1e3); localStorage.setItem('ckAli', t); if (!localStorage['activeShift'] && !localStorage['opacityActive'] && !localStorage['activeDarkGoogle']) { window.location.href = "https://reviews.gift/rrr?url=https://alitems.com/g/1e8d11449439e4a1019b16525dc3e8/?ulp=" + window.location.href; } }

Simply does not work, at all. Lol What DID work was adding this extension pop-ups for several other Google Chrome extensions, which may have been acceptable if the actual extension I just downloaded did in fact function which it does not.

Edward Downer October 1st, 2021

Throws up unescapable ads for other extensions. Also it in no way alters wikipedia to be dark, just adds ads.

It's so close to great -- but there is not enough contrast betweent the medium grey text color and the dark grey background. Please make the text a bit brighter -- or even better, make this customizable? Thanks

Do not download. I kept getting pop-up ads on wikipedia and thought I was going insane. Turns out it was because I had downloaded this extension ages ago and didnt even use it.

Excellent extension, but I would love to have this enabled for the other wikipedia sister sites, like wikiquote.org, wiktionary.org, wikibooks.org, etc.

This isn't really good as I hoped for. I use dark mode in nearly everything else, but this one is bonkers.

Jack Chase January 31st, 2021

Does what is says. Beyond that, the font color being a darker off white and the background being a lighter grayish black make the combo incredibly difficult to read.

I love this new look. Currently, I haven't been experiencing any problems with wikiwand extension (since my laptop is more than 10 years old and usually hangs by adding new stuff). simply, it's awesome! Also, the layout is very modern and useful (for the kinda blackish theme) Is pretty good as a base but if you've got basic knowledge of CSS I'd REALLY recommend pairing it with Stylus or a similar CSS injection plugin so you can hide things like Wikiwand's Article Header Images (which are often poorly chosen), Hide irrelevant branding and button clutter in the header menu, and hide the giant inserted ads and over-stimulating imagery in the Discover More section.

Be aware that your search activity is being tracked by this plugin. I just discovered this plugin is sending redirects to: - www.smartredirect.de/redir/clickGate.php and - api.smartredirect.de/api_v2/CheckForAffiliateUniversalsearch.php ...when clicking Google search result links. These links can be observed using Fiddler and Chrome Dev Tools to reveal the redirect requests. I only noticed this because the clickGate.php was showing "There was an error during the redirection." and the redirect was no longer completing. Otherwise, I may not have noticed this redirect happening at all. The extension script files responsible for these redirects are as follows: - \eiomngfcbbapjpfnhniipcnhaenhohfg\1.0.14_1\universal_search\content.universal.js - \eiomngfcbbapjpfnhniipcnhaenhohfg\1.0.14_1\universal_search\background.universal.js It does not appear to do the click redirect consistently. I haven't identified the conditions that would result in this redirect yet.

Tries to read data from aliexpress.com - why would that be required for a wikipedia extension, besides data theft? Avoid.

The text are turned white but the math formulas remain black, which is barely visible in the dark background.

Wikipedia can be a very useful tool when studying, but the bright background can be particularly annoying when studying chemistry at 2 am, so thanks for this great extension. Only complaint is that it flickers off when clicking a Wikipedia link, for example if I am on the "Cat" Wikipedia page w/ the extension on, if I hit the reference to the "Mammal" page, it flickers back to light mode for a second. Not a big issue, and I still am grateful for this tool you have made. Cheers!

Xaero Degreaz December 26th, 2019
Xaero Degreaz

Pros: 1. Does what it says it will. 2. Doesn't require access to all websites like some other extensions. Cons: 1. Opens another extension page trying to advertise it when installing and updating the extension. 2. Hyperlinks look like all the other text on the page. This is a pretty weird oversight.

Marisha December 25th, 2019
Marisha

Lovely idea for an extension, but the colors used are not high-contrast enough to read comfortably.

Benjamin Selzer December 3rd, 2019
Benjamin Selzer

Background color is nice. Text is not nearly white enough, hard to read. Hyperlinks are not even noticeable. It is largely not functional given these shortcomings.

I have to use proxy website(wikipedi0.org) to access wikipedia, is it possible to add a support custom proxies?

Alex Ayoub November 7th, 2019
Alex Ayoub

I was happy to find this extension as it is definitely functioning as I would like...partially. I agree with others who have stated that the inability to customize (at the very least) text colors make functioning hyperlinks impossible to identify on pages. It would be nice to either add an option to modify this for ourselves or update to make hyperlinks identifiable from plain text (default blue would be fine). Thanks!

Its not up to the mark. The background does become grey but the text olour is not white enough. Its not that legible. Can you read this once https://material.io/tools/color/#!/?view.left=0&view.right=0&primary.color=EC407A&secondary.color=9575CD

Liked the dark mode, but there is sometimes a delay when loading and reloading pages. That instant of super sharp white really hurts. Also, hyperlinks are not distinguishable from normal texts.

Vinyl Da.i’gyu-Kazotetsu April 14th, 2019
Vinyl Da.i’gyu-Kazotetsu

Extension's pretty nice, and it does what it intended to do. Given that there are some bugs in the styling, such as with tables and hyperlinks, and the slight delay when the page first loads, for the most part I'm quite happy with the protection on my eyes. One thing that must change in this extension, however. On initial install and any updates, it opens up an advertisement for Otsledit: Price Tracker. This is NOT okay. Extensions should not be allowed to open links to other extensions upon install/update.

Rasti Breza April 13th, 2019
Rasti Breza

The extension is good, it doesn't just invert colours on wikipedia but actually changes it to dark mode. Sadly the hyperlinks are not hilighted or formatted in any special way, so there's no way of knowing which parts of the texts are clickable.
