Everything works except the Google cloud sync login
It does what it promises: it saves automatically your sessions. You can also setup how many sessions and the interval
I trusted this can handle my sessions and now i lost all my sessions, bye
Syncing works perfectly on PC, but not works on android browser (which supports extension)
As near as I can tell, this extension has a serious bug. If you try to delete a session by clicking the trash can icon, it seems to delete, not the session you clicked, but the oldest session. This is a serious enough bug that I think it's extremely irresponsible that this extension remains in the extension store, and the presence of extensions with these kinds of problems wastes the time of users and dilutes the extension ecosystem with garbage code. I strongly believe this should be removed from the extension store permanently. While the above problem disqualifies this extension, I'll toss out another good reason no one should use it. There is confusing terminology, with the terms "open" and "restore" confused. If you choose to "open" a session, then, without even bothering to ask for a confirmation, this extension loads all of the tabs in the session, which could mean hundreds or even thousands of tabs. How is the user expected to know this would happen, with the sloppy use of terminology and the lack of a confirmation? Again, I think this extension should not be used by anyone and should be permanently removed from the extension store.
this is the best extention i used ever for sessions, free, save sessions to google drive, works perfectly, thanks for this great job
I really wanted to like this session manager, but the tracking feature unfortunately needs some help. It will constantly overwrite sessions due to the fact that you can track multiple sessions at the same. I'm not sure why you would want to do this, but since it seems it was built this way intentionally, I think the problem will persist. Otherwise, it was decent app that does what it says it'll do.
lovely
Great extension I'll give it five if you add these additional features: 1- Save & close all tabs 2- Save/Save & close selected tabs 3- Add selected tabs to an existing session
Its crash, and all gone
relied on it for at least a year when I really needed it, the entire database vaporized, just gone, a year of records. I've lost over 1500 tabs thanks to this worthless thing. don't use it
When restoring a session with tab groups, all the group names are missing.
miss Save Tab Groups .need another Extension
just doesn't function outright. will not save sessions and the settings menu is completely blank.
Doesn't show any currently open tabs. What is there to manage?
This extension is just amazing. I live on the internet and sometimes have 50 plus tabs open. I also have an old PC with windows 10 which likes to crash once a week and go into a perpetual repair loop. Only way I can get back to windows is to reinstall from an image. Since my image is a few days old, my chrome browser is missing a bunch of tabs. All I have to do to recover my tabs is to go into session manager and wait for it to sync with the cloud and I instantly have all my tabs back. Just love this extension so much and I decided to send the creator some beer money. I appreciate your work and I hope you keep it up.
Haven't tried any competitors, but this is so useful it's on all my browsers. HOWEVER, for no apparent reason, it often hangs and refuses to either save the session or list previous saved sessions (the GUI is blank). When the browser is then exited, the current session is not saved and instead a much earlier one (presumably from when it hung) is opened, so everything since then is lost and has to be rebuilt from browser history. Bizarrely, when re-opening the browser, the most recent tabs flash up briefly before being replaced with that older session. Five stars if a) this could be fixed and b) more explanation or an example of the tracking function could be provided.
This extension is awesome!!! Just what I was looking for a long time ago. It can automatically save sessions, sync to YOUR google account, backup the sessions to local files, and more with NO SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED! You'll definitely consider donating to the developer(s).
Great extension, the best I've found in my research. Recommended!
Found it better and more convenient than Session Buddy
Does not save actual tabs, only the urls in them. It means that their story is destroyed, and the Back button becomes disabled, while using something like History>Recently Closed preserves the Back button and actual tabs, for comparison.
It worked ok. Very nice functionality and a good user interface but then... it lost all my sessions (something about "cannot write indexedDB") which is obviously not a good thing for a session manager. Taking into consideration that my sessions where actually not that many (maybe about 10-15, about 400 tabs each spreading to 4-5 windows) to cause serious lagg or memory issues that is a serious failure. There are several files in the extension folder but I cannot find any documentation on any way to get back my sessions or at least my previous ones before the problem occured. I dont see the developer replying either here or in github and this makes things worse. P.S. Update 2 years later...New bug.. Tab history (back button) is not saved. Finally moving to a more reliable extension.
Its a great extension. It has almost everything one would need for this. The only thing it's lacking a bit is features for organization. One that would help tremendously is making the search function include tags. E.g if I search for "Plant Water & Food Needs" and a saved session includes the tags "plant" and "water", then it would show up in the results. I know there is the tag dropdown list, but that's only one tag which is not sufficient for proper organization.
i love it. free, easy and fast.
Saved me yesterday when my computer crashed and took about a hundred tabs with it.
Wow! This supports Tab Groups, lazy loading, cloud backup, and is really awesome overall! The best tab backup extension!
Absolute garbage. Never works, folder disappears, tabs gone forever. Click icon - nothing. No troubleshooting, no useful website, nothing. Sync never worked. Don't waste your time. Try another option - hell even pen and paper would be better than this. Should pay us to use it.
Tab Session Manager does not restore names of groups
Auto save and the UI looks very good
Great extension. I'd give it 5 stars if only it has RENAME capability on the Session & Link names, as well as DRAG 'N DROP capability of those sessions and links . Please refer to a Firefox extension named 'Session Sync' for reference.
This is amazing! 1) its free, 2) it has sooo many necessary and helpful features and options: it syncs with google drive; it autosaves according to your preferences and you could even have auto download a backup copy! it is customisable inc option to export your preferences, open session in new window etc. Thank you!
when disable addon all tabs gone!
cloud syncing is slow and doesnt work half the time across devices. From MacOS to Windows
The favicons don't load after restart. The folder names erased by the extension. After removing the extension all groups are deleted. Crashed my hours work
Great app.
So there are some not so positive reviews if you go back a little ways; I think that perhaps at one time or another there may have been a lapse in how actively the extension was being developed or supported and it's also possible that an update to either the extension or Chrome itself may have broken things at one point but that is all clearly in the past and is no longer the case because coming from someone that very regularly has hundreds and hundreds (like approaching a thousand) of tabs open, this extension works flawlessly in my experience. To make it even better, it has cross-browser support in that it also has a Firefox equivalent, which I have used thoroughly and can confirm that every single one of the 40+ exported Firefox sessions came over and were able to be restarted / resumed using Chrome and other Chrome-based browsers( I use the extension with Chrome, Firefox and Vivaldi, flawlessly I might add). This was the deciding factor for me, I have since deleted other similar session managers in favor of Tab Session Manager. The only thing I have downloaded but haven't tried is the plugin providing support for tab groups, so I can't speak to whether or not that works or how well but if my experience with every other aspects of the extension is any indication, I would put my money on it working as advertised but if/when I can actually review that aspect of the extension, I'll update my review. Regardless, this is a five-star extension, all day. If I were to be forced to list a criticism, it would be a minor one but I don't love that web pages are proxied via the extension rather than saved using the URL, if that makes sense. If you don't know what I mean, you'll see after restoring a couple sessions and/or bringing a tab(s) out of hibernation. In the grand scheme of things, this is barely even worth mentioning in light of all that the extension does well. Cheers, Dev! Thanks for an excellent extension!
Best so far. I would suggest to relocate "add current tab" to "edit a session" section and under " add current window". Feels much more real there.
Pretty good - a big annoyance though is every time I sign into the google sync with the extension on a different computer, a window starts constantly popping up on the first computer, asking me to sign in again as if I'd never signed in there yet. The sync does work but having to do this every time I switch computers sucks, and since that's kind of the main reason I wanted to use this extension, it's a bit of a letdown
I would like the cloud baackup poup to not show everytime i restart chrome to sync the data to google drive. Make it get a token and use that token to sync data now a days all the apps have implemented token system, it would make this extension perfert for me.
I only downloaded it because it has syncing. You're dope.
It worked ok for awhile, but now it constantly crashes, doesn't save sessions at all and won't sync to google.
Wish to append the current window to any existing saved sessions by clicking an append button located on each sessions.
I had to reinstall since it was no longer saving sessions manually or automatically. The session backup cannot be restored because of a "Read failed" error.
use it everyday!
It epic and superb. Opening chrome and keeping things neat: Easy Getting to work mode with multi window, multi tabs and even groups saved: Wow Reloading all tabs on launch or not to as an option: Epic Keyboard shortcut to launch, click saved session and take off: Stellar
Works great though it took a while to understand the GUI (that's on me, I'm dumb). But the dev doesn't reply to support questions at all (maybe a language barier?0 as far as I've seen. This is evidenced by 2 pages of questions, some like mine, that never got answered. I had to redo Chrome completely and can't find which file or folder stores the Tab Session Manager session.
I installed it about 6 months ago, and thought I was protected. It shows up as "enabled" in my extensions, and it apparently just updated yesterday to the newest version, 6.8.1. I was really happy with it, right up until today - the first time I actually needed it. I had many tabs open in Chrome, when I had to close my browser. Normally, when you re-open Chrome, the first tab offers you the option of restoring your previous session. That didn't happen this time, but hey - no problem! That's why I installed Tab Session Manager! Except... I am unable to open Tab Session Manager. Apparently the only way to open the extension is to click on the icon, but - the icon is not here anymore. Doesn't exist. Not on the desktop, not on the toolbar, nowhere. It still shows up as "enabled" in my extensions, but I can't open it from there, so it's basically completely useless. Very, very disappointing. I guess I can't complain too much when something I got for free doesn't work, but I guess you get what you pay for, eh?
Excellent session manager! Active development (and hopefully they will keep going). I use a ton of tabs researching various topics and I tend to have sessions over 100 tabs before I begin to try to limit the amount of open ones. To the developer: Thank you for this extension! I have some feature requests or comments if you would like some feedback. I'll save most for the moment, but I did want to throw out a couple suggestions: -Can html or markdown be added as export options? I tend to end up exporting sessions and organizing them with Devonthink as html docs usually. I got in this habit using Session Buddy, but since your extension has tags, I may not need further organization! -Is there a possibility of adding some drag 'n drop features? For instance, I'd like to be able to drag a window from one session to another session in the session list. Or even individual sites. -Could your extension be taught to strip characters off the URL's of tabs suspended with "Great Suspender" (or equivalents) so that the tabs reload directly to the site itself when launching a session? Thanks again!
Works like a charm! Would be great to have tab groups support in single extension, but it works!
I was hoping it would save LogIns, but it didn't.
Great addon when it worked.... But I've had it crash and not save anything for MONTHS now....
Had no "Issues" per se with this extension until it recently updated and then started spamming with with save dialogs. Close one and another opens up. Not sure if it's a mistake or shady business practice to enable features that prevent work from occurring, but not cool either way.
This saves my life!!! I am so happy with this extension I will most likely donate. For real, as a developer myself I have over 100 tabs opened in multiple windows. This thing is soooo helpful I cannot explain how grateful I am. The worst thing that has happend to be is loosing 100 tabs, do you know what this feels like, months and months of research websites, planned to-watch videos and numerous documentation files. I love it, this resolves my fear of having a unpredictable shut down and failing to restore my tabs later. Thank you so much @Sienori, such an MVP. To be honest I was on the verge of doing an extension myself but god this is useful!
This is really really good. Everything just makes sense. Cloud sync is brilliant.
Like so many other things related to browsers in the last few years, this started out working great and has steadily degraded. I don't know if it is the fault of Microsoft because I have been using their Edge browser or if it is the fault of Google who makes the Chrome browser that Edge is now based on. I do know if started with Firefox imploding on itself and bringing out completely new browser revisions with everything including my favorite extensions broken. Heck, when I had a good version of Firefox, I didn't need a tab session manager. This one started out great doing everything it claimed to do. That was up until the last few upgrades. Each one broke it further. I admit that I have a lot of tabs open . . . or used to until this kept crashing and losing everything I was working on. People who don't have many tabs open don't really need this sort of utility. I am exactly the type of high-powered engineer-type user who needs something like this, or one that actually works. The latest version of it brings back my tabs some of the time, but they are usually reversed across the top of the browser. The tab that was the left most is now the right most and so on, a mirror flip. Oh, that's not so bad, you say . . . but it is if you are expecting certain tabs to be in certain places and have to go hunting to see where they were moved to. That is when they are all brought back. Lately, around half of the tabs are brought back from a window while the first tab from that window is brought back by itself in a new window. So I get double the number of windows open with almost half the tab gone, gone, gone. I want to strangle someone at this point because I am going to have to either go back a month and see what it will bring up then or go through my history for the last month to find everything I need. Since I have probably used and no longer need hundreds of tabs,. how long will that take and how much work will I not get done because I am trying to recover from what this utility did to my workflow. There is no excuse for continually breaking what used to be a great utility. Are you trying to emulate Mozilla or what?
Perfect for simple automatic session backups to give more peace of mind compared to Chrome's built in tab restore feature.
Good, but i'd like it to auto sync when i save sessions manually. UPDATE: Thx for the automatic syncing, but it doesn't work when the session is saved in chrome. UPDATE: Turns out the config was somewhat and i fixed it. the auto syncing starts after a few seconds after it though. but here is my five stars anyway.
This is awesome! Best session manager I've tried so far and has the very important features I need such as cloud sync and the choice to save 1 window only. Thank you for the wonderful product!
This is one of the few session managing extensions still being actively updated. However, this extension does not support restoring Tab Groups. Restoring sessions results in disorganized tabs, which then need reclassifying into Tab Groups. Google has listed the Tab Group API as working since Chrome v89: https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/reference/tabGroups/ My hope that an actively-developed extension, like Tab Session Manager, can now use Chrome's Tab Groups API to get it implemented. Everything else with this extension, works great, so this is a 5* review as soon as Tab Group restoration is implemented.
Works great, I just need need it to have tab group support.
It's really great to have this extension for both Firefox and Chrome. One request, I'd like to be able to set the shortcuts in Chrome like I can in the Firefox extension. In its current state, it overrides Bitwarden's default Ctrl+Shift+L for autofilling logins.
I use this extension in conjunction with Tab Group Saver as a way to backup my tabs. By the way, the optional saving of private sessions is really nice. Would be nice if it restored chrome groups too
I have been a long time user of FreshStart and my only reasoning for switching at the moment is the Tab lazy loading. Tab lazy loading is a must have in session management when you are a heavy user of tabs and multiple windows. My hesitation and for the 4 Star is I like that FreshStart stores the sessions in Bookmarks. This allows me to access my sessions via Mobile. At the moment I wish there was a way to import my sessions from FreshStart. If I knew how to make my own extension it would be incorporated along with Auto Save or Session sync. If you need to see that in action check out Smart Sessions. I like the idea of this as there are enough times that I am researching something and would like it to sync based on my adding/removing. With that I currently use all 3. Tab Sessions Manager for my day to day, Smart session for my heavy research and FreshStart in case I need access to my saved sessions.
What about support for Chrome Tab Groups??? Currently not save them and I can't find such option in settings (((
Is there a way to save tab groups? When I open a saved session all tab groups are lost.
To put it simply is the best tab manager extension there is. Period! :-)
Absolutely amazing ad-don! with active developer that listen to feedback!
This is exactly what I need!
I so used to love this extension, until today that Chrome crushed and suddenly I LOST ALL MY SAVED SESSIONS!!!!!!!!!!! Even the folder was gone, and is not a Hard Drive problem. Really I know the work it takes to code a free extension... but how on earth, this ERASES all your previous work, without even warning?!?!? I wasn't even in the Tab Session Manager screen at that time. They just DISSAPPEARED!!! I truly can't believe this. I can understand bugs, but bugs that erases all of your previous work (maaaany sessions saved!!) is kinda unacceptable.
Great work! Any chance of supporting import from "Tab Saver" for Safari?
This is a very good extension for productivity.
I've been using this for months and was glad to have the option of saving daily sessions. Today is the first time my tabs didn't appear when I opened Chrome. Instead the tab manager came up with an updated message and only one of my tabs showed up. I tried to retrieve yesterday's session and nothing happens. Same with the day before's session. Many are in the folder, but nothing happens, even though the import buttons tells me it's been done. Now my computer is bogged down and the task manager is telling me I have 55 tabs open and my CPU is at 100%. When I went to report the problem, I found many posts reporting the same thing as early as last Feb. and I don't see any replies from the developer offering a fix..I guess it was a false sense of security all this time.
good extension i like it especially the sync feature. However, the sync feature is very annoying, it ask for password almost every few times or after reopen chrome or after awhile or after i opened chrome in different account profile
Clear app, and allows some editing of tabs once saved Very occasionally, saved tabs go missing but they come back too. This may be more to do with system adjustments Would recommend
Used this on another account for months without any problem. Good job developer!
no~ my all saved sessions removed. what the
Perfect. ?
I need to add individual tabs or urls to an existing saved list but cant :( EDIT : Im moving to Opera sadly there is no Opera version... NB: pls make one
Wasn't convenient to me, very spammy because it saved all closed tabs, so I found myself managing the extension all day long, instead of it helping me manage my sessions. Worst thing was that when i removed the extension, all the open tabs were closed. I found out that all the opened tabs were proxied by the extension, so i can't open the tabs now even not from chrome history cause they all link to the extension instead of to the page itself.
Best session manager. Always have ability to restore latest open tabs after browser crash
It does not work at all in Vivaldi. It just opens up blank windows on restoring backed up session data.
Works fine in Chrome but doesn't seem to work in Vivaldi - open (session) in new window only creates the new window, but doesn't populate it with the saved session... - open (session) in current window replaces first window... It's like it doesn't recognize multiple windows. IDK - maybe it's Vivaldi thing.
Nice session manager. Just one problem, I believe I just saw the "sponsor me/support me" message for the 2nd time in the same day... If I see it again this week, I am definitely uninstalling this otherwise great extension.
Best session manager so far, allows to delete and open tabs single tabs without have to go into into a "fullscreen mode" or seperate tab, that's why it's better than session buddy for me at the moment. Would love to have an option for an "active session", to be able to actually close a tab, when you close/delete it in the open window(s), so it acts like an active "tab manager" as well.
Looks interesting so far, and it actually found most of my lost tabs. This is the weird thing; for some reason, saving adds windows that I've since closed. Weird, but if I get to keep all my tabs, I can deal with this nonsense.
Just started using this extension for both Chrome and Firefox. We developers often work long hours into the night, it would be really nice to have a "dark mode" option. Thanks again for this extension. It really makes all the tabs more manageable. [)4@6()|\|
I LOVE this Extension. This is my new favorite chrome extension
How to assign tag when i save current window as a new session? The extension saves each windows when exit chrome, even though it have saved all windows as a 'browser exited' session. Do you have any plan to change this?
Please add google sync, I use 3-5 computer and the main goal for me with these session managers would be to use the same workspaces/tabs on all of it :) And an option to automatically save opened/closed tabs which are belongs to opend workspace/session would be awesome. Now I always need to replace current session and it is not very effective. Oh and a language selection or "force english" option. Anyways this is one of the best app of its kind, your work is very appreciated :)
Just saves sessions, No advanced features, No privacy options. Simple and basic session saver: I would not call this extension a "Session Manages" at all. Update on Sep 13. 2019: Popup window stopped responding to resize essentially rendering the extension useless. Down to ONE STAR from the previous tree stars. Aloha.
GAWD!!!...Bring back ORIGINAL INTERFACE!....this back and forth clicking just to delete sessions is terrible. Also screen intrusive! >>>>NO ABILITY...STILL...to LOCK a session!....Come On! The overly large box...is NOT RE-SIZEABLE....even the center where the scroll bar is cannot move to the left or right to see the names of the sessions! Why did you change it!??? It was perfect! At least add the option to keep original interface instead of shoving this one on us. Also....the UNDO...function gives the user no time to recover an accidentally deleted session...which is why the LOCK feature is requested. (with a lock icon viewable to tell the difference) Thanks....
Saved sessions are disappeared immediately after closing extension's menu.
Hey, I appreciate all the work you've put into this. Thank you for releasing and developing this useful extension. A small suggestion I might add is if possible, the ability to select and merge tab sessions as well as delete duplicate links between two selected sessions.
This worthless garbage excuse for an add-on lost all my tabs. Completely unreliable, oversized and riddled with bugs. Never again.
Not working in 22-5-2019
This is the best session manager for Chrome -- better than Session Buddy IMHO. I especially like the fact that it can be operated from a dropdown menu instead of in a new tab. It does consumes a little bit more memory than Session Buddy, though, but for the extra functionalities it's definitely worth it.
Just installed. Fantastic so far. I'm the uber-nerd/programmer/IT/DBA for my employer, and I usually have 10-20 Chrome windows open, each with as many as 30 tabs or more. Every once in a while my Chrome crashes and loses the session, and it feels like I've been lobotomized #facepalm #headdesk #headwall. Tab Session Manager is the only tab manager I've found so far that automatically saves the history of ALL open windows & tabs, and keeps it. So if Chrome crashes, fails to re-load the session, even multiple times, you can scroll back in the history to find the session and re-open it, with all windows & tabs intact. BUT... ugh. I'm not fond of the giant drop-down history menu. TSM DEVS...please create a full window for the history like other similar extensions, such as Session Buddy, or even the built-in full windows like Chrome Bookmark Manager and History. Thanks. I will look forward to it. <3
I don't know what and where is saves (it probably does something, because all good-looking lists are created), but it fails to _load_ the "saved" sessions - just opens a new empty window without loading the pages.
I like it Please add option to reject or delete duplicates.
I love this extension. It's not as beautiful as Tabboo or Session Buddy, BUT!! It works on Chrome and Firefox. FreshStart can restore across installations, but I don't like the way it abuses bookmarks to do it. The most reasonable sync method is to use a 3rd party service, like Dropbox, otherwise you're still married to a browser and it's syncing service. Add Dropbox sync (or some other third party, free) so it can sync across browsers, and you WIN the session manager war, hands down!
I like this session manager very much. One note: when I choose session auto-load on browser start, a new Chrome window (empty) opens, then closes and opens again, now with my saved tabs. It would be great to populate the initial window with my tabs, not to re-open it.
Been looking for something like this for ages. I open dozens of tabs at a time and lose all of my sessions by closing the windows by mistake. But this extension allows me to save my sessions for later use, and it saves current ones automatically too. Best extension for this purpose in my opinion.
Is there a way to add current window to already saved user session? 5/5 anyway.
Great extension. Supports more features than Session Buddy which is like the most popular session management app on Chrome web store. Like ability to autosave when window was closed & autosave at regular intervals. Rating it 4 stars because because of one flaw.(Also the reason why I can't use it over Session buddy even though I want to.) Whenever I restore a session, tabs that were open in incognito windows are not opened back in incognito window, they are opened in regular window. Make the extension reopen incognito tabs in incognito window & I will uninstall session buddy.
Wonderful Extension, many thanks to the developer.
