Why isn't this just part of Chrome?

Chrome already has an in-built pip in the music and video control button that works the same as this so I don't find any need of installing it. I installed it because I thought it would give me more control of the pip like Firefox.

Definitely worth it if you like to multitask while watching YouTube videos.

Works like a charm, as long as you are not running any exclusive fullscreen software.

Add more functionalities

A very helpful app. Room to improve: backward/forward control and closed caption support.

Works perfect. for general things. Stuff like HULU blocks it so you need a seperate link like javascript:var video=document.getElementsByTagName('video')[0];video.removeAttribute('disablePictureInPicture');video.requestPictureInPicture(); to make it work. IF you book mark that and press it during hulu, it will work.

not having the control to go 5 sec forward or backward is taking 2 stars away...

This is a great plugin, but would be greatly improved if the PiP window followed me across my virtual desktops. It is now a common desktop feature on all major desktop operating systems.

Works great. I like that you can pause the video in the top level picture but I wish there was also a mute button there.

good but the lack of subtitles sucks especially when watching shows in a different language.

On m2 macbook air, it makes my whole screen flash black and back to normal.

I'm One of Those People That Watch Videos and Browse at The Same Time. But With This Extension, I Can Do So! This Is a Great Extension! Nice Work Google!

Wish it showed youtube's subtitles too

it works 100% everytime there is a problem there is an easy fix it somehow works on discord gifs?? idk how but its awesome i use it everyday

It randomly stops working over and over, to get it working again i need to remove from chrome and reinstall. Any advice for a fix would be helpful. other then that it works on every website I have tried and use it extremely often, very helpful tool.

Doesn't work on Hulu, it shows whatever video trailer is being shown for the highlighterd/top item, not what I'm actually playing.

I wish it could display subtitles of the video we're watching. It would be a perfect extension once that is added (if possible, if not then I'll change to 5 stars). Other than that, it's an amazing extension and does exactly its job/is straightforward. Works on all websites and can even resize the PIP to your liking!

Make it snap and hotkey it to bring fron or not. other than that great job

Works well for YouTube TV. Wish the functionality to rewind/fast-forward and progress bar existed on the PIP window.

Works 95% of the time and 100% on Youtube which is what I always use. Amazing extension.

Excellent, sometimes though it won't just pop up on yt (then either it takes a while to go into pip mode or I have to restart the browser) or on Twitch sometimes there are just static screens but the stream sound still goes. No big deal though, all I gotta do is switching off and on for a few times. Is there a hotkey? Are you gonna implement it? That'd be very useful.

Does what you think would. Just needs subtitle support and more controls (fast forward and rewind) and maybe not such a shadow overlay when mousing over it.

the extension is nice but some features have been removed and it makes me frustrated. i tend to watch shows and movies in foreign languages and i need english subtitles. but when i use this there is none, meaning i don't know what is being said! :( and there isn't a forwarding/rewinding function using this extension for me, which also is pretty annoying. its the lack of functions that ruin this extension unfortunately

The solution works fine, however, when in page with two or more video players avialble, the extension open just the last one. Needs improvement.

So good! Love that you can now also resize to any size. Only thing I wish for is to be able to set transparency!

Please remove that dimming overlay on mouse over, show only controls on hover. It ruins whole experience. Also bit complicated to launch, as in YT in my browser are three context menus.

Opera GX built in player is better, the main reason is that you can control the timeline while using it

it started off great ! it was simple to use, minimize, etc. and then after a while, i couldn't move the window, make it smaller, anything. works again if you re-add it, but a star off cause of the hassle.

On my Macbook I didnt have the option to use picture in picture but with this extension its so easy to do

It's good. I use it all the time. Also, subtitle would be cool.

Sadly is unusable on HiDPI monitors because it does not allow you to resize above ¼ of screen size. on MacOS. I wanted to use it to enable Meet to stay on top, so it will not accidentally endup hidden when I am doing something else during a meeting.

We need subtitles for PiP~! And having arrow keys to skip forward and backward would be good too~

in this few days when use on youtube will become random video on it,no sure why... try to reinstall still same

Great, but the lack of forwarding/rewinding function can be frustrating, and the restriction on the maximum size of the window is pointless and pointless.

No Resize to Unlimited Dimensions, No Captions, No Video Controls and worst of all, the mouse over gray out the entire window that has no options to disable this behavior.

PIP mode is one of the deal breaker for me. I switched Google Chrome to Opera just for this one feature. this extension is good for PIP but not as great as other website built in provide. 1. It would be great if i could resize window as much as i want. it looks like developer fixed max height and width depending on the screen. kind of annoying. 2. no playback control. why? 3. why not built in if could make a extension you could probably make it built in.

please include fast forward / backward or the timeline control on the pop-up interface. and the close-caption is also needed to be on the pop-up too

I love it!

Huge fan, particularly of the fact that the popup player is persistent across applications and Mac OS desktops (OS 12.3). This is really powerful for following instructional videos that cover multi-application workflows. Only thing keeping this from being a 5-star rating is that there's no skip forward/backward function and that subtitles aren't supported. These would seem like trivial features for Google to implement. If this changes, I'll update my review... one star for 5s skip forward/back and one star for subtitles.

If it's recently stopped working for you: Remove it from Chrome and re-add it. Then it will start working again, thankfully!

Works great if you don't need captions. They are important for me, so two star taken off for lack of captions.

This WAS a great extension until the ALT+P hotkey recently stopped working. Looks like Chrome is now intercepting it directly. Would be better if it supported the arrow keys to skip forward & backward. Please sort this out Google!!!

Love this for multitasking or watching a tutorial video. But I would really appreciate a key-commmand for moving the timeline like x10 seconds back etc or just hover drag.

Seems Alt+P hotkey is now used by Chrome itself to pin a tab. Could you please change the hotkey to some another combination which is not used by the browser? It's really annoying that now it's needed to click the extension button on the toolbar to make the video in PiP mode. Thanks!

This extension was helpful and all until recently where the keyboard shortcut stopped working (maybe only for my device).So each time I have to go to the extension's section and click on the icon...I hope you can fix this..(or tell me a solution to fix it if it's the case only for my device)..Thank you

Amazing extension if it actually worked.. Unfortunately it stopped working. I can't click off the tab without it completely freezing Twitch (which defeats the whole purpose of putting it in picture)

while using this to watch a twitch stream and do something else at the same time, my computer frequently crashes, often causing me to lose progress. It just happened to me and made me lose 3 hours of work in a program I was using since it does not autosave. This needs to be fixed. I am unhappy.

Works everywhere I need it to! Would be perfect if it had a way to show the subtitles as well

It's fine if you just want to pop out a video. I just use it for YouTube so I really wasn't meticulous about this extension but playback controls and showing CC on it would make it a lot better.

It worked great for the longest time with Netflix, Amazon & HBO Max. It never worked with Hulu though. But lately it doesn't work nicely with Netflix, as when I try it, it zooms in the image and to the upper left corner. It's not downscaling the video and is finicky when you mouse over it too. Again, that's just been with Netflix so far. The other 2 still seem to be okay with it though. I agree that captions would be great too.

It's fine, but it's missing some basic features that competitors already have, such as video controls and subtitle integration.

I really appreciate this PIP extension, it works great with YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, and Paramount+. My gripes are similar to other reviewers: I would love to see compatibility added so that this extension works with the other major streaming services: Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV+, etc. I would also like some basic video controls added to the PIP (playback bar, skip ahead, skip back, volume). However I'm very content as is.

Works like a charm, BUUUUUT wish it worked with Disney+ but works on netflix, youtube, twitch, amazon prime.

I'd still rather watch my videos with Firefox picture in picture to control size, volume and have subs then browse on Chome.

Seek bar & Volume control would be very very nice addition just like Opera browser...

Hi, I love this plugin. It's really practical and helpful. Also, I have two feature requests. 1. Extend the size limit for floating windows. 2. Add video controls to the floating window. (to easily shift back and forth in a video)

Error!!! Bluetooth audio is interrupted when switching to Pic-in-Pic mode. The bluetooth speaker must be restarted or disconnected and reconnected for the sound to return

Worked fine until today, now PnP doesn't work as the image doesn't scale down to the correct resolution, meaning you only see a fraction of the video.

Extension is very useful, only thing that is missing is closed captioning

The size limitation of the pop-up makes no sense, it should be possible to resize it to whatever size is necessary.

This extension had the potential to "fix" the shortcomings of most Display Managers that work with Zones (Dell, Microsoft Fancy Zones, ...), if it would be able to open the video in a reasonable size. But this tiny window doesn't make any sense, when you open it in a larger zone.

It's good but The mini player is so small.

It Bugs as soon as another video starts and it drops the frame rate.

Cant pop out on top of some other programs especially games (probably cuz anticheat) also doesnt have as many options that you can do other than resizing the windwo and pausing. I wish if there was a volume slider for example

Sometimes you have to click it twice to work, please add subtitle support and other player button. More importantly add it to stop/play video by clicking Space bar and other keyboard shortcuts.

No captions available this makes it frustrating and limits its use for me, I'll keep it for a while and see if there's an update but without subtitles I'll end up deleting

The interaction is not good. After it pops up, if you move the mouse over it by mistake, there will be a "return to tab" mask on the video.

Very nice, i like to watch Youtube Videos while playing Online games, but i had to alt+tab or just listen in the background lowering the game volume, but with this i can play the game and have a youtube window on top right corner of the game. Great!

Sound stops when i switch to picture-in-picture, i have to turn it off and switch videos to get sound back.

Easy to use, Works on almost all video sites. ONE thing: Please add next/prev buttons on at least Youtube.

This extension is awesome and I believe should become a core part of chrome. With that being said, my biggest issue right now is that my media keys on my keyboard (play/pause, next, previous...) don't work when a video is in "Picture in picture" mode, and I have tested with multiple keyboard even generic ones and it's not a bug (or at least it seems like it's not yet implemented to me).

No caption in PIP mode when using a YouTube caption.

used to be good, but i noticed that it's been buggy lately. when i click "back to tab" it doesn't go on full screen

Need it to be able to go full screen! Only allows to be resized to about a quarter of the screen.

It keeps crushing oftenly

It has been working great for me for the last couple years, but recently a couple days ago one function stopped working. I used to be able to pause/resume a video that was in picture-in-picture mode by double tapping my airpods. That function no longer works and I have to click on the pause/play button each time. Minor nuisance, but a nuisance none the less. I'll revise this to a 5 star rating when this issue is resolved.

Great extension. Love it a lot, same with the PiP feature in my Android phone. A comment though: The Play/Pause button in the PiP should be larger (right now, it's only as big as my mouse -> hard to play/pause quickly). Or maybe, the Click-to-Play/Pause feature should be available for easier use.

Great, but really needs mor video control than play and pause, i hate to go back to the tab whenever I need to go back a step in a tutorial or any other content, please add back and foward butons to go like 10 s at a time.

Then again, as pointed out, it could also do with an update, as video controls are practically non-existent in the PiP window (only play/pause still), which is another headscratcher. Unluckely there is only a limited stretch for floating player. Your should learn with Mozilla Firefox.

I've been using this extension without complaint for years... until this π day, when I found myself trying to type π on my Mac by typing "option" + "p". While it works in every other app, in Chrome, something else seems to be capturing this key combination. The culprit? This extension. Worst part? It doesn't seem to be configurable. I'm used to being able to configure the key combination in the settings for the extension, but that appears to be non-existent for this extension.

It works perfectly fine with YouTube and some other websites. I recently subscribed to Disney+ and wanted to watch it in PIP. It doesn't work on Disney+. I wish the developers would update this extension.
