Glad I found this extension, I have been looking for these features for some time but it is not easy to see in the store. The video demonstration on this page is a little lacking/doesn't do it justice. There seems to be a problem dragging multiple tabs over to the collections area, it doesn't go into the right collection easily which seems to be a bit of an oversight as this is its main feature. Tab titles need to allow more characters, currently it can be quite difficult to see exactly what is in the tab. Not a fan of the colour scheme, feel it could be better, hopefully there will be more options in the future. The layout seems to be fine but aesthetically the design doesn't seem particularly pleasing. It does the job, I hope the development team can keep adding to this extension. It appears other reviewers are getting mixed up, this is a tab management extension not a bookmark sorter.
Amazing extension
Keeps nagging me to login / register. While trying out this extension, even simple things like trying to change from light to dark theme kept kicking me to the sign up page. To make things very clear: I Don't Want To Register Or Login, I just want to use the darn thing on my personal computer, for my personal use. Okay?
Unable to sync to server for different chrome login, many time and cannot fix it myself, please help,
The fact that I can do everything I want it to do for free is insane. I would only wish to be able to access my bookmarks on my phone, even if it's not as streamlined
Opening a session, changing it, and re-adding it to the collection duplicates the tabs that were already in the collection. You either have to delete the duplicates one-by-one, or delete the whole collection and have to rename it.
Hey Toby team. I Really Like Toby. Its user Interface is so easy to use. But some time it didn't connect to internet and also sometimes it shows error about fetching. During that time I won't be able to add new tab. Please fixed That problem. Also Toby isn't login into my another browser. Also fixed That. I will update my review when this problems are solved. Thank you
i love it - but why signup & login process is not working, anyone else facing same issue?
I have thousands of book marks, many duplicates and many date back up to 20 years so it is hard to find book marks because I didnt always save them in an organized manner. I have been trying to find one of these "organizers" which actually will try to sort and at the very least weed out the dupes. Although this wont even allow me to import my old book marks into it. Even the smallest list i had was still too big for this extension to try and tackle. There might be something useful in this set up although I didnt find it useful for me
not what i expected - i have thousands of bookmarks and do not have time to open each one to categorize into toby - there is no option to import existing bookmarks
It's not working/syncing and the site is not opening.
IT DOSINT WORK.ether that or its my browser
Terima kasih untuk pengembang extensi toby, ini sangat membantu saya dalam menejemen tab pekerjaan saya dan ini gratis serta berjalan di browser lain.
AMAZING. i was a person that has like 100 tabs at the same time and it was super confusing but now with toby, i am one of the most organized person on the earth! this is one of the best ever extensions %100 install!!!
I love Toby and have been using it for years. I just upgraded to OS Ventura on my mac and Toby is causing Google Chrome to be added to my Login Items list automatically. I don't want Google Chrome opening automatically and the only solution I have found is to disable Toby. I hope they fix this quickly or I will be forced to leave Toby behind which is something I don't want to do. Please update this extension asap!
How can I access my bookmarks as well in Google Chrome while using this Toby?
I love Toby. Although I wish there was a way to access the extension using a link instead of having it take over the new tab screen. I have a page I really want to keep in the new tab screen, and have found other ways to get to Toby to be clunky. :( The web app version of it would be nice, except it's been in Beta for a while. May still end up using that, but would love to see it pushed past beta since it's been that way over a year.
This extension is the best you can get to manage your tabs productively. And the best part is it's FREE!
It's been very nice using Toby. I like it, more than all other bookmark managers.
It was quite promising. The tab manager's user interface was very visually appealing and offered a lot of interesting features. I was disappointed to discover that there was no way to activate dark mode. Simply said, white is painful to the eyes. It always malfunctions when opening tabs from the rightmost board, either showing a different tab or doing nothing at all. Lastly, I am quite frankly annoyed that it forcefully opens itself by default on a new tab since it is one of the most vital functions of a browser and you just have to add more effort when doing a simple task. When the aforementioned issues have been resolved, I will be pleased to resume using this extension.
Fantastic extension! Hugely helpful!
A great addition to this extension 1. 'Save Session': provide option in extension popup window when clicking 'Save Session' to designate the session to the selected 'Space'. (plus the option to name the Session prior to saving it would be awesome so I wouldn't need to go to the dashboard to move the Session to the Space and rename it every time) 2. When relaunching a Session it would be AMAZING to group the tabs in a folder, like chrome allows, and name that group of tabs using the 'Collection' name in Toby (https://blog.google/products/chrome/manage-tabs-with-google-chrome/)
It's so comfortable extension for my web activity
I've been using Toby for years now. Here are a couple of reasons why I am leaving: 1. You can't delete your collections. The delete button is nowhere to be found. You end up with collections you don't use and it doesn't look organized at all. 2. UI responds a little slow. So for example if I switched from grid view to list view to card view, the UI will take long to reflect your latest selection and sometimes shows the wrong selection on the UI. 3. Few feedback are reflected in my opinion. The UIUX needs improvement.
Amazing! feedback on Multi windows support. it's a downgrade for me since i usually use 15 window at same time, keeping 30+ tabs on each (i need help i know that). but now i can't find which window i'm working on unless i start going through all windows from the sidebar solutions to such situation: 1- settings toggle button that allows to use single windows or multi window support or 2- highlight current window in the top of the side bar
Thank you, author!
Amazing extension, highly recommended, keeps my laptop clean and tidy.
this is amazing, not crowded with features simple to use and works does what it promises: organizes
Completely unusable on a touchscreen laptop.
But it is facing the bug related to searching right now
Excellent tab manager tool. I've been using it for several months, and it has been quite helpful. I recommend it with no hesitation.
basics work so far + seems useful, but move option doesn't work, pretty annoying
Great tool, been using it to boost my flow for some time.
JUST LOVED ITT PROPS TO THE DEVELOPERS for making such an awesome productivity product. For me as a student aspiring to be a software developer, such lovely products motivate me to WORK HARD!! ???
This is beautiful in each and every way, saves me from drowning in a total mess
It's a good browser extension but it's awful that you force users to create an account just to have the ability to turn on dark theme...
Worked ok, but there is no way to turn off the sync, for one, I don't want to sync everything, and secondly if the sync is failing like it is for me right you just get spammed with unable to sync errors that slow down the process of opening a tab.
Best organizer of links and tabs i have ever used. the work done for this tool is visible. excellent
Loved it
I like it, but I really dislike that it takes over my New Tab page. There is a Toby Mini extension that is the same except for the New Tab page. Maybe some people prefer Toby on their New Tab page, but it seems to me that should be an extra extension, as opposed to the unchangeable default on the main extension.
I don't understand the point of this. It is basically a third party between what you want to see and your bookmark manager. The problem is that it will just tell you part of the descriptor of your tab, which means that you have to actually open it up anyways to see what is on it. I'd rather have a list of tabs open and rapidly click through them to find what I am looking for. In my opinion they are trying to fix something that is not broken.
So good at what it should do but performance is a huge weak point.
Awful! If you move your tabs and click Save Session all their story will be gone and the back button disabled! I was lucky to test it with new tabs and not the ones I had, or I'd have lost the tabs' stories. Use History>Recently Closed (which comes with Chrome) to preserve you tab's story, because Toby doesn't save tabs at all, only their current url, like bookmarks.
I have looked at a number of tab management extensions, and I have used Toby (both mini and this version) for a while. In the end, I decided to ditch Toby for Tabox for the following reasons: Toby gives a lot of advance controls which is nice, but harms the overall user experience (UX). It does not support Tab Groups in Chrome It lives in a new tab rather than a popup (for me, I prefer to keep the tab manager handy in a quick access location) Looking over their code, they use a bunch of analytics and tracking services, I assume mostly to help better their product and see how users use the extension, but the amount of information they send and collect is a bit unsettling.
It was working well, and I was loving the tool, but one day it decided to erase all my collections. That impacted me and my job in a way you can't imagine. Sadly, I don't recommend this extension anymore.
I used toby extension last couple of years. It was amazing tool to save URLs in a organizational manners. but I have few issues while using this extension, one I can't use forget password option it occur error, also I can't login while using google chrome extension. Please look into it and resolve the issue.
can't sign up!!!
Extremely useful extension
I like this extension, it is very useful. But, I have started seeing popups where my searches would double up on bing. I would search something and another webpage popped up searching the same thing in bing, that I did not request. Also, I noticed my explore setting changing, I like to see all hidden files and something was changing that - suspicious. There was also a hidden directory in my program folder "Lufi" - this is connected to some new extension "yOptBlock," all of which I have tried to remove and keeps coming back ... until I disable Toby... odd ... anyone else seeing this?
Instant dislike for closing my complex arrangement of chrome tab groups the second I click "save session". why on earth should "saving" mutate the current state.
Left a while ago and came back after noticing there was nothing better than sweet-sweet toby
Amazing extension for people to keep on opening tabs and forget about them :P . Recently, For some reasons I've been getting Toby could not sync from past 2 weeks not sure what's wrong with it. anyone facing this issue?
awsome
It's be great if the extention asks us to change the name when saving session, having to go to the site, click More, then Edit name (literally at the bottom of the list), then Delete the original name and finally type in the title, which are very inconvenient.
I'm so upset. I use to love this extension, it was my all-time favorite and I recommended it to everyone I knew. Now it's unusable. I can't even add another tab to a previous collection. Or even collapse that collection, for that matter. Sadly, I'll have to find a replacement, RIP Toby
Game changer. I always have a million tabs open for work for different projects. I LOVE YOU TOBY TEAM! Thank you!
once good, now legitimately unusable ? the more you use this extension, the worse it gets. popularity has destroyed Toby. before the (✨ beautiful ✨) redesign, this was my most used and coveted extension. It was more valuable than many of my paid monthly subscriptions. I told everyone I knew about it. it was really good. but Toby has been plagued by its own success —slower and less stable with every (silent) update. slower still with every additional tab saved. make no mistake, the more you use this extension, the worse the experience will become. I quite literally had no choice but to uninstall after a recent update rendered Toby so slow that it fully locked up my browser. so now I'm stuck with hundreds (thousands?) of saved tabs in an extension that I had to uninstall because it is completely unusable. sure, I'll figure out how to get my save tabs out and put them somewhere else. but what a terrible disappointment it is to have to write this negative review, because I can't recommend anyone use this; the more you do, the more locked-in you'll become, and the more painful it'll be when this thing is so slow that you can't even open up the tabs you saved with it.
Why...does...saving...a session...closes everything? ..............dumb.
this used to be good...long ago now it no longer wont save full sessions, first it closes all tabs, then proceeds to save 5 to 6 of em and forgets rest
as someone with adhd, this is a life saver. i've always struggled with having way too many tabs open and now i'm able to quickly organize all of them. i also tend to declutter them more often and my actual open tab count has decreased by quite a bit. i also think it's great how this extension is still being worked on and that a lot of requested features have been added already (and thank u for not putting features behind a paywall <3)
It's already been great and is always improved rapidly. I have it on all my Chrome profiles and have introduced it to my work as well!
Toby is great and is just getting better. It's the best service I found for sharing bookmarks with friends, family and colleagues. It's is much easier to navigate and search than the native Chrome bookmarks and well organized in organizations, spaces and collections. Days ago they released a web version beta to make the bookmarks also accessible on mobile devices. The only feature I'm missing now are logins with Google account etc. :)
It works perfectly on Google Chrome but somehow it doesn't work properly on my Opera GX browser although it uses similar Chromium element. Please review this.
I don't like the new update. Wayyyy too much padding and spacing for blocks. I think the developers/designers are forgetting the main purpose of this tool for users is to be productive. Giving everything extra whitespace/padding makes this tool more difficult to scan at a glance and get to where I need to go. Also the update just made things slow down and laggy too.
There is a character limit on URLs, and it's actually pretty short. Many sites' URLs are well over this limit. And I'm talking canonical URLs, not URLs with a bunch of unnecessary extra junk. Also, this has possibly the worst drag-and-drop implementation I've ever seen. Which isn't even really a scripting issue, it's just that the markup is amateurish at best.
this is okay, but tabsets[https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tabsets/ifohmndbcefggppiblfofpbkmdfmeing] does the same thing without requiring you to sign up for full features. There is NO signup option at all because it isn't neccesary. It also allows you to backup a tabset to text, so no storing personal information on some company's server. That does mean tabsets lacks cloud backup if you need that. Also tabsets doesn't let you create a new tabset with only one tab. you must add all tabs, then just delete what you don't want. The fact that Toby CAN to do that is really Toby's only advantage, for me at least. Also see Session Buddy[https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/session-buddy/edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko].
amazing new features. love your product. good for you
A mush have extension! Keep it up guys!
Please enable us to save a tab group as a collection. It would make Toby so much better!
Stupid Update. The collection is not showing number of tabs. Made the extension heavier and slow.
Great functionality! The only downside after the rework is that it still loads relatively slowly.
I really like this google extension. The only thing that I want to make it better is to allow users to change the color scheme. I want another color other than pink and white. I'm hoping for this to happen in the future updates
The best extension
When I search the collection via "/" keyboard shortcut, and press "o" it doesn't open the top of the search result, instead, it open the top collect at the default space.
I keep only a few Chrome extensions active all the time and Toby is one of them. Like the others said as well, I have tried a lot of "new tab" solutions, and this one is by far the best. This is probably out of scope, but since Toby is a productivity app, I'd love to see an ability to output Google tasks in one of the Collections accordions. I'd keep the tasks at the top and the link collections below that. It would then truly be an ultimate productivity tool! :)
I've using the Toby more than a two years and it's a godsend, many thanks for your fantastic work!! But the last update disappointed me with poor UI design. Those lines, they are everywhere, on the each tab, used as separators, and while using a dark theme they are unnecessarily visible, and you're constantly pay attention to them. Why should I pay attention to the details and not the content? Design should be invisible. Omg, please do something with those excessive lines. I'm still using 0.6.4 version on my old computer and the UI design for this version so neat, so perfectly executed, and I don't understand why you would want to change it? The saddest thing is that I can't go back to the old design in the new version. And I can't install the old version, the only new is available in the store. Hope for changes, and again, thanks for work!!
It was a nice extension up until recently when I noticed that Chrome was using a lot of CPU for no reason and the task manager revealed that it was the Toby extension. Even before this, although I found grouping by tags very convenient, I would rarely go back to those tags to see what I had saved. But maybe that's just me. I typically have more than 20 tabs open at any given time, so I need an extension like this, but for now it's disabled until the CPU issue is resolved.
After the latest update the extension just crashed: not loading in new tab, clicking on the icon doesn't take effect. Had to re-install the app to make it work again. Thanks for the good app though, keep it up ;)
Toby is really useful to me!
I've been using it for a week now and I like it, I like the tags and the sorting options, but I will like it a lot more if there was a "compact" layout, something like Papaly. Right now there's so much wasted white space. If it was for mobile use where you use your fingers yes, but for desktop use, no. unfortunately I'm going back to using Papaly for now.
This is amazing extension. I love it! Thank you for it!
I really love it, Why didn't I know about Toby until now? It really improved my productivity, because most of the time I need to work on projects in Jira, and a lot of documents have to be read. And I've got everything neatly organized and easy to find.
Muantappp, cooll extension
Where has this been all my life? I've tried various tab-grouping extensions, but none of them have allowed me to BOTH arrange the tabs in the order I want, AND see enough detail on everything I have open so I know what each tab is for.
NIGHTMARE! Bad UX/UI. Laggy. Spent a bunch of time creating folders and then IDK what happened, but Toby decided to shut down and destroy all my tabs in the process! It vanished from my extensions as well, so I would have been royally hosed if I had not had Session Buddy installed to recover them. This extension is getting uninstalled immediately.
Just 5 min of using - clean, all necessary options are there, no ads + Great User Experience. Start after opening the account - thats what modern user is looking for at least. Hope you gone develop further like add some data sets, cloud etc... now I'm going to sort my bookmarks :)
I decided to change it back to the normal chrome because it was just too confusing for me to work out but I do recommend this to anybody who has a a lot of tabs open.
Amazing!
Love the app !! If you are a TEACHER you will love this app. Organization of my Classes schedule and links just went easier and faster. I would like to have more variation of color settings.
I love it. Using it fot more than 2 years! Best bookmarks manager I'ha ever seen bofore (and I saw'em a lot)
Very clean and intuitive UI
It's not working in kiwi browser both mini and full version
Absolute MUST HAVE for anyone. Manages everything for me. It even helped migrate all my tabs from the Great Suspender ever since it was taken down.
Great Extension I really adore it
my mind organized / better than bookmarks - being able to categorize is the best feature
Works fine, then for some reason I cannot drag or select my open tabs anymore, with zero indicator on what could be causing this UI oversight, I hate stupid extensions, no ad hominem intended
Easy of Use! It's useful for multiTabs to management. It's flexible to using and manage of tabs.
It word at first then it deleted everything.
Love it. Been using it for more than a year. Super helpful.
I very much appreciate that you build a tool to convert tabs that I saved from The Great Suspender to normal links. Hope you'll be able to stay forever.
good
I have been using it for several years already. But I want to write a review here just because yesterday I found that Toby made a migration tool for tabs affected by The Greatest Suspender which is removed from store for security reasons. I never thought about saving lost tabs as they are actually not that important anymore. But I'm still touched by this thoughtful and useful tool.
I use this with OneTab at the same time, they are surprising in that they complement each other!
USEFUL. It would become more better if it could archive collections.
I have only had Toby for a couple of weeks, but I LOVE it! I love that I can sort into different categories for things that I will need soon, instead of just by date. You can sort within the folders too. It is easy to move open tabs into one of the categories. I tend to have around 20 tabs open so it's nice to store then in Toby until I need them. I think this extension is fantastic.
I Love Toby. I've used it for several years and do not know how I lived without it.
this is one of my favorites to use daily it comes in handy with organizing my favorite sites to go so thank you very much <3 :)
