Really great extension, wish it were being actively developed. Buggy Regex implementation however. Also would be great to have enable/disable checkboxes for each rule for testing purposes.

Tabs Survive Name Customization through Chrome Updates. I have tried several of these to rename tabs & save to bookmarks and/or OneTab. Of course, Google has a habit of changing things that wreak havoc in perfectly functioning and useful extensions... This is the ONLY one I could find that reloaded tabs (after closing window, program, or computer restart), ALWAYS renames to what you want it to be. It does take some time to figure out & is more complex than others, but even on sites that self-refresh or domains that seem to keep some pages named while not remembering others, this extension has not failed to rename any of my modifications yet.

This tool along with tab groups makes keeping track off all my open tabs so much easier. I am a developer and always have a ton of open tabs. Great job

Maybe I just don't understand rules or I'm not a programmer or it's just too difficult for my simple use. I set a rule, it appears to work,then I can't figure out how to use it twice. I just want to make a simple onetime name change to tab title. Maybe if I understood more of how people who love it are actually making it useful to them and some real examples - might help me. But for now it's too much.

This something I have wanted for some time. I use research databases. Many of the 'sullpiers' have specific databases with individualized search forms. (ie Find My Past; Family Search). I need to have many tabs open for each supplier. Using URL as the name of the tab means they are all named the same. Being able to name the tab so I can find which one to use same me a whole load of effort. The Extensions works perfectly, and the step by step instructions are easy to follow. A nice layout for the input page too.

Great for pricing out some things on amazon. I usually rename tabs by price and whatever other attribute is important for my search. Saves me lots of time. Wish, renameing would work without deleting all rules first and starting from scratch again. "Rename" option should over/rewrite previous rule/s I'm using Opera, seems Chrome broke something for other users.

Really good extension. I've gotten a lot of value out of it. The selector and regex title matching are powerful. It seems to work well and has all the important features I want. Of course, there are less important features that could be added or tweaked, but overall I've been quite impressed with how much it can do. The only thing that is conspicuously missing is the ability to duplicate rules. It's just at convenience but I'd love to see that feature added.

Looks like to rename a tab you have to click the tab, then click the extension, then click "rename." Cumbersome. Should just be able to right click a tab and select "rename." Also, after renaming some tabs, it would appear to work, but then the page would automatically and quickly refresh, and the tab title reverted to original.

Was a great option, but the app no longer works. Previous rules are now gone and new ones are no longer saved?

I Forgot about this didnt even notice right click easy use! Love it.. i change titles that always have the (3) notif annoying call outs as i desperatley click on notifs to get rid and it wastes time,distracts so thanks so much. My mind really is a btch!

Just excellent. Downloaded and set-up within 60 seconds for easy distinction between similar pinned tabs - great work guys.

Tab modifier is a subtly essential part of my browser configuration. I use it to make my tasks easier to see and organize.

my company websites all have the same tab names so it's annoying to constantly find the right tab. with your rule implementation, it's so easy!

If I could give this App 1000 out 10 I would! Easy to use and Incredibly Useful and User Friendly. The ability to add **Coloured Icons for each Tab** is Fantastic. When this App **Tab Modifier** is combined with Workona, it is a Match made in Technical Heaven. I am now 10 Times more Organised and Productive as a result. Everybody should Donate to this Developer so that He/She/They may continue with their Truly Excellent and Intuitive work. Please add more Colours for the Icons and if we could upload our own Icons, that would be perfect

Very clever yet simple extension. One of the first things I (re)installed when getting a new laptop.

All I want is to make tabs custom colors so I can increase productivity and easily find certain apps, since I use several browser based apps for my workday (most of which are linked to the same general domain). You cannot do this here at all. You can add a color bullet for the icon, but only if you want the most garish tones. What is tech's OBSESSION with fuschia? Put some soft colors that don't strain people's eyes as options. I could do this one FIREFOX in 2009 so I don't see why I can't do it on Chrome now.

Effective at saving names of renamed tabs, which is something I hadn't found in any other extensions yet. However, it won't let user set up different instances for the same website. I use multi-logins, and I'd like to keep the session name/user in the tab. There are a few extensions that will allow this, but as soon as the tab is refreshed, the name disappears. Also, Tab Modifier stops those other extensions like Tab Titler, and its likes, from allowing individual tab title modification for the same site, so I'm better off uninstalling this extension.

Doesn't allow you to do a one time tab rename, and developer is opposed to adding it - very dumb to have to install multiple tab renaming systems to get both rule based and one of naming, and having multiple systems sometimes fights with each other.

That's a very helpful and convenient to use tool for renaming your browser tabs! I love it.

Great extension. Very practical; prevents cluttering up your browser [tabs]. With many rules, it may be handy to be able to group them, but that's a minor point. What I would love to see added to it is manage it in relation to "Tab Groups". Would be really useful to be able to 'move' tabs (renamed, or what) into the same tab group time and again, basd on its URL. Setting other tab properties (e.g. colour) would make other extension superfluous as well.

I needed this for a long time. Chrome really rocks. This extension sis extremely useful if you are using multiple profiles. I wish google buys your group in billion dollars.

I'll be the iconoclast here. I immediately encountered several bugs and dislikes: 1. The renamed tabs reverted back to the default names 2. It stopped being able to rename a tab. I.e. it would not take effect 3. I don't like that I have have to right click IN the tab rather than on the tab itself.

Nice extension! I would also like to be able to disable some rules temporarily, create groups of rules and switch between the groups quickly through a GUI or keyboard shortcuts. Also would be nice to have a rule to automatically group certain tabs with each other when they get opened.

It need a more convenient way for rename tabs, for example something like "Tab ReTitle" has.

In my workplace, we have many different environments that I need to work on at the same time. This tab modifier allow me to color coded all different env with different color and keep all the opened tabs clean and tidy. Chrome release the "Group" feature so if the icons' color can be synced to google's choice, it will be perfect. (yes, you can add them manually, but it still take some time, right?)

Protecting a tab doesn't seem to request confirmation when closing...not sure why...any ideas please? Otherwise it is great! Though it would be nice to be able to pin a tab and keep it's title if that is a possibility?

I loved the idea of this extension, I happily named dozens of tabs, streamlining a lot of the assignment grading that I need to do. HOWEVER: I saved all of these as bookmarks (that reflected my custom naming) in several folders. When I returned to one of these bookmark folders and rightclicked on it - selecting "Open All (20) In A New Window" - Chrome created a new window with all of these tabs again but ••without•• all of my manual name customizations. Is it possible for your extension to apply a name that is more permanent and survives a Chrome bookmarking operation? Or is this out of your hands? Thanks you, though, for a cool tool like this.

This is the best one of these types that I've found - Clean, well explained interface with extraordinary flexiblity in wildcarding/generating dynamic titles - Giving us the option of CSS selectors, input title regex, & url regex is excellent. Did exactly what I needed it to (helped me rename tabs based on a url query string on a site where the same page was used to query different inputs) in no time flat

It's pretty good but I got this so I could distinguish from multiple tabs with the same URL and it keeps automatically naming them the same thing. But I want them different names. Other than this issue it's pretty good

Can there be an option in "URL fragment" for capsensitive? Thats it other than that this extiension does alot more than I needed it for and all the features are super useful too!

Ok, so the extension is great. It does all I need it to do and that's exceptional in and of itself. The only change (or addition) I would like to see is when you right click on a page and click on the "rename tab" button, it would open up as a popup (as it already does) but with more options than just to rename the tab. For example, let's say I was on a NYT Science article and I want to rename the tab and change the icon. With the current right click option, I can't do that, but I assume that this shouldn't be that big of a addition, just a minor one. But overall, the extension is great!

LOVE this extension. I'm a bit OCD so when I see a tab name or icons come up that looks unsightly to me...Tab Modifier lets me take care of it in a jiffy. The ability to create backups too is awesome...easy 5 stars.

Not much to say. It works the way I want it to. Only feedback I have is to have an Apply Rules button so I don't have to manually refresh applicable pages.

With the new Twitter design, I wanted to get rid of that pesky (notification number) on the title. This extension works well for that!

I've been waiting for a plugin like this! Last time I looked I could not find anything and this time I was pleasantly surprised to see the solution was created. Had several Google Sheets pinned and always fumbled with all of them to find the one I needed each time. Now I have custom mage icons on each of them and the process has been streamlined. This is the only tab favicon / icon overwrite tool I could find that simply did that and didn't bog down my browser RAM usage. Essential for anyone with too many GDocs open, makes switching a breeze. Thanks for making this!

A good extension but some basic things are missing. I'm using it for trading so I have a LOT of tabs. Problem 1 is that in the settings panel, we cannot sort by name, only by date. So each time I add a coin I have to manually move it up to the right position. Problem 2 is that it's not always easy/accurate in moving a line. Sometimes it gets dropped where it needs to be, sometimes not. Worse even, I have to drop it within sight, as I cannot scroll while moving it, so to move an item 80 or so position up I need a lot of actions just to get it there. Now imagine doing that for 20 new coins... It's a nightmare. Problem 3 is icons are nice, but with 200 coins I trade, it gets difficult to remember each coin, or sometimes even see the coin because of some bad contrasts in the icon. It would be great if we could choose NOT to show an icon, but have the tab pinned with text. So instead of the icon for Steem, show STEEM. If that would be fixed, I would gladly recommend your extension to our hundreds of trading students.

I installed this extension specifically to rename my Google Drive Chrome tab. However, now every time I reload my Google Drive browser window —or try to navigate to any other site— I get a Chrome warning that states: ______________________________________________________ Reload site? Changes you made may not be saved. ▢ Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs [Cancel] [Reload] ______________________________________________________ When I disable Tab Modifier I don't get the warning. Thanks!

This is a great extension for preventing titles and favicons from distracting me! I only wish I could back up the rules to Google Drive or something.

Really great extension! Any way to set the default behaviour so it uses e.g. "exact" matching and "unique" tab when I save a new rule? This would be especially useful when saving a new rule via the right-click & Rename Tab option.

WOW this is something I didn't know I needed so very much. I only recently started thinking "Why can't I just right-click and change the names on tabs? Why hasn't Google thought of this yet?" So I found this almost right away and it is GLORIOUS! Thank you SO MUCH for making this -- and it's also open source etc.! The world needs more brains like yours.

Excellent extension. Easy to use, pratical, makes it easier to identify image tabs separately. Even shows the modified names in the bookmarks, and not just the tab. Extension also allows to export and import tab rules, which is handy if I want to move to a new browser. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent extension, works like a charm on Chrome! Unfortunately seems to have a few issues on Vivaldi, but of course can't fault the dev for that.

I am so glad to be able to change the names on my tabs. I had a case where 6 of my tabs where all labeled the same due to the way the site worked but they all where actually different. Now I can identify them how i want. Excellent extension.

Wonderful! I found how to add custom icons, but still it's a little bit of a hassle to do so, giving me the feeling I'm playing when I should be working (but its great fun). One thing that for me would make this the perfect tool is a combination of Text and colour as the favicon. Even limited to one Capital letter.

Can't both pin and protect a tab at the same time in a rule. A pinned tab can be closed without warning. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars.

Very nice. Will help take the confusion out of pinned tabs that all contain the same icon. It would be nice to have the ability to create custom icons but the color options will get the job done.
