Great extension, super handy for looking up stuff in Wolfram Alpha. Very customizable when it comes to activating its function. My only wish would be to have icons also show up in context menu mode, which I find to be the most intuitive to use, but I understand that it might be hard to implement due to Chrome's own limitations.

Using this now for over a year and it's fantastic

While it is a truly great extension, it can be annoying when it pops up in an edit box. So, I suggest that there be an option to prevent its from popping up in an edit box, as in Firefox.

Love it. It should be the default feature of chrome. Works flawlessly. I added my custom search engines and all of them work. I thing i would like the dev to add is to open search in incognito mode and on other users windows. That would be amazing.

It works and looks great!! But... 1. Finding out that I needed to add this "%s" to the end of all search strings, was annoying. I didn't know why nothing was working... 2. We are in 2022, and we still need to manually copy-paste the freaking text settings into a .txt file to export them? Come on people, make your extensions save .txt / .json files on their own! Also, I hope your extension doesn't "violate the Chrome's Web Store policy", so Google won't take it down..... Because they took down a lot of my favorite extensions, and I did not find any replacements for them.?? But on another note, the Dark Mode is awesome, so thank you!

Incredibly useful! And unlike other similar extensions, this one offers submenus (plus other methods of selecting an engine besides context menu).

It's very good. Please add the feature to let it automatically copy the selection.

Great timesaving tool.

This doesn't work but if it did I would want it to bring up in the Right click menu since that's where all my other "Right click search" extensions show after highlighting text and right clicking. I only need this for Reddit since I have other extensions for everything else and couldn't find one specifically for Reddit. I would also like to click "Search this term on reddit" directly from the right click menu rather than having to go into an second context popup for Selection Search to find the option to click. Hopefully it's working again soon and please notify me when it is.

I have no idea how this will work. Maybe it's not working because of other extensions.

Every time you add a search engine the settings change and i have to rechange them all to the settings i like.

It turns to be a series of numbers in the POST method when you search it in multi-languages.

This doesn't work for google chrome isn't it? The is no way I can add any good search engine like amazon, it seems to be built only for Firefox.

This is THE most functional search tool Extension for Google Chrome. My only comment, it lacks user friendliness. It took me a considerable amount of time to figure out the intricacies of this extension. Overall, it does everything I was looking to do: - Automatic popup menu with direct search of highlighted text - Adding and Customization of New Search Pages - Middle-click to Open Search Pages in a background tab - Customizable hotkeys for each search tool Two words: Well done!

Fantastic extension awesome job whoever made it. One slight touch that would make it perfect and that is if you add a SCROLLBAR within the menu of all the added website as search engines rather than relying on Google Chrome's scrollbar! I mean when I choose Styling and then I change it to whatever style available Icons only, Animations or Animations 2 etc..., I can't scroll up or down as it cuts off part of the menu of my added websites when I activate the menu of these websites in a narrow corner of a page therefore, I highly recommend you to add a scrollbar within inside that menu of added websites ASAP. Thank you very much for your time.

A fantastic extension, easy to use (even if not sure of which search inquiry style/initials to use, one can test them till one finds the one that works. Can even use it for shrtcuts to translation sites by setting each desired translation direction (En to Sp) ahead of time. Therefore once at page no need to fiddle with long drop-down choices. And many more personalized tweaks can be accomplished. A 'Thank You' to its creator.

One of my essential productivity tools. A quick double click with the mouse and I'm a split second away from my favorite search engines or websites. You can customize which sites to use and modify the app's behavior to suit your personal needs. Highly recommended!

I LOVE this extension. I have one gripe. It says on the Overview "Access your data on all websites." -This is needed because the code for the popup-menu needs to be added to every website for it to work. I REALLY want to get the guys at the office to install this because it would help with productivity so much. But the powers that be a security crazy. I don't even want to use the popup feature! I'd love if there were a slimmed down version of this extension that wouldn't need that permission.

You are my hero! This is so, so, so useful and so convenient! I use it to show a dozen of search engines in an icons-only popup on middle click. Very useful extension! I think the Settings Menu/Page is cluttered. It should be more "clean" and easy to use... Other than that a great extension.

Awesome plugin! Almost uninstalled it because I just wanted something to automatically search google when I pressed a hotkey, and binding to "Activate the extension" @ chrome://extensions/shortcuts brought up a menu instead. However; upon exploring the options menu, I found that you can bind multiple hotkeys to individual search engines, which is even better that what I was expecting. Also, the context menu feature is very useful for search engines that you don't want to bind directly to hotkeys. The documentation could be improved to better communicate the available features (more thorough description with a full list of features, show more features in example images, add an overview video), but the plugin itself is excellent!

Abandonware! Needs to be updated desperately. The mycoft plugin site no longer works in tandem with this once useful search tool. Search plugins break and need updating but can't be. Middle mouse button support has never worked and the context menu won't even come up anymore automatically. Looking for a suitable replacement as this one has clearly been abandoned.

I was looking for a replacement of the now defunct "Context Search". Found "Selection Search" and it's even better! Light, full of settings, efficient... 20/20

I love this extension! This search extension is much better than (the abandoned?) Context Menu Search, which I did love back in the day, plus it has a search engine repository. A+. Highly recommended!

Amazing extension, you really did a wonderful job!

Config is amazing! Very impressive set of options, love it. Though, there were some glitches when editing #engines table, but i'm using Vivaldi browser, so it doesn't really matter... :) Also might be useful to begin using extension with very simplified welcome-options-info page for the least sophisticated users. Thank you very much for such nice app!

Incredibly detailed and well-thought. The customization possibilities are staggering. The only thing that would make it better would be allowing individual keyboard shortcuts for each defined search engine, i.e. selecting the text and pressing a key or key combination to launch the search with the corresponding engine.

Why doesn't this extension, like others of this type, not use Chrome's own Search/Manage search engines/Other search engines? I'm used to an elegant little extension in FireFox, Simplify Awesome Bar, by Little Spark, for searching selected text. This extension is a very nice addition too. Thank-you.

Very useful! Can anyone help me create a search URL that will place the selected text in the current Company check box field of Linkedin? Bonus if that search field can have a job title already populated like "Product Manager" for e.g. USe Case: I want to highlight a company name like "Amazon" and use Selection Search tool to open a Linkedin page that will show the search results of all the Product Managers whose current company is "Amazon" Can anyone please help ?

How can you live without it? After the former only "pop-up" extension was sold to a spam company I've been looking for an alternative for Chrome but only found tedious "context menu" versions. This extension brings back the time saving quick search and the seamless integration with Mycroft is just perfect.

A godsend. Seemed most other searches have been discontinued. I wanted one that backs up to the cloud (settings and searches) cause it was a pain to readd whenever I used a new computer or keep them in sync. With this, tada! All works. Context menu does not work for me (Chromium) but right click is fine...

Must be as default functional in chrome. Very usefull extension!

I wanted a search tool that you can use by just pressing shortcut keys. But this is so frustrating to use. Does the keyboard + mouse activation even work? I tried many combinations but none of them worked for me. At least add a setting for touch pad users.

The most customizable multi-search extension bar none! Other search extensions either have limited options (i.e not being able to multisearch with one button, no selection popup) or cumbersome interface for adding and arranging search engines. This extension has a host of features including the ability to customize the CSS of the selection popup, separate or disable the context menu search engine list, and a very organized and intuitive options page. Highly recommended!

Fantastic! I've tested just about every search extension available and this is the only one that works exactly s I need it to. The only thing I would add is an ability to search submenus, like if you want to price compare or locate something, it will search all the sites under a 'shopping' or similar submenu.

THE BEST search plugin out there!! Just hilite a pc of text, rt click and you can search any user preset search engine. the only kicker here (and remember this - very important) is that the full power of the app is not available until you ADD A SEPARATOR in the config screen. Once you do this it's a breeze to search Amazon, Google, Netflix - anything site that has its own search can be included here. This is a very well thought-out pc of software. Hilite your search text, dbl click and a popup containing all your preset search engines appears next to your cursor. Some very smart engineers figured out that users may want to search multiple search engines with the same seach term so they made the popup persistent. It hangs there waiting for you to click multiple times. for me, this means I can search for a product on Amazon, Ebay and Craigslist. Very cool! What I'd like to see in a future of this extnsn is the ability to load multiple SE's into one button so that I don't have to click multiple times, but that's nitpicky. This search extension is head and shoulders above anything else out there.

An elegant implementation of essential functionality

This is a great program once you've figured it out. The problem is the developer didn't add any tutorial or explanation on how to use this. Just spent the last 10 minutes trying to figure out how to add a new search engine. What you need to do is search something with the search engine you want to use, copy the url (excluding the search term), and add %s at the end.

Since I started using this brilliant extension, my Internet is a simply more productive and more enjoyable place to be. Thank you so much.

I must have used an earlier version of this years ago, I remember going to the Mycroft project site for search engines. For years I used a similar extension, Search Center, but it's recently become broken, and this extension more than equals it. Search Center does have a button on the bookmarks bar which is handy, but Selection Search's popup is even handier really, and adding engines is a lot simpler too.

This one is amazing. I love the fact that you can customize the search engines, unlike FastestFox which became unavailable not too long ago.

This is the best extension of its kind. So customizable, and once you've got it set up how you like it, the settings can be synced across other instances of Chrome. Nice work, Per Myren!

The best of the Context Search extensions available for Chrome. In an ideal world it could just use all the search engines you already have, but this extension makes it super-easy to add them from MyCroft and also supports the super handy hold-down-a-key-and-click-a-form to add them on the fly. Great effort here.

Really enjoying this feature-rich extension. May I suggest that the popup menu disappear on keypress when in a text box? That would get it out of the way after a doubleclick for copying purposes. Thank you.

Loved it, but it desperately needs an option for showing the hover button BELOW the selection. I should be able to choose where it pops up. Everything else, perfect. Keeping it.

Does the job, but I'd like an option to directly search. I was looking for a way to add the feature of "search google" when I middle-clicked selected text, and this almost does it, since it opens the popup to search, but I'd like it to open a new tab and search immediately, without the menu.
