Open new tab in foreground not working, still always opening in background.

This is the best chrome extension. My favorite features include: - Always open external links in a new tab (e.g. clicking on a figma/github/etc link in a Jira card will open in a new tab) - Always open new tabs alllll the way to the right, instead of to the right of current tab Once installed, go to chrome-extension://fjccjnfkdkdmjohojoggodkigkjkkjhl/options.html to choose the options you want. Thank you!

Enables me to have new tabs open at the top (my tab bar is vertical on the left) and to have a tab closing make the most recent active tab reopen.

Love the idea but not updated for best part of a decade means it has tons of bugs now (tested with chrome on windows 10) making it simply unusable for my needs

Sadly, the option to open a specific URL in a new tab doesn't work as expected. If I specify the the source domain that the link is located within it opens the link in a new tab. But if I specify the URL that the link points to, it doesn't work... It used to work, so I am guessing this extension needs updating by the developer.

Thank you, working perfect so far. Just switched from the 'New Tabs At End' extension which has become unusable.

It works, and have some cool extra options, but it breaks the order of some tabs when restoring from a previous saved session in "Tab Session Manager".

Finally, an extension the enables an option to toggle (Alt+c) btwn more recently activated tabs which should be the default, and is a standard option in Firefox (crtl+tab) rather than cycling thru all the tabs. I find Chrome, Edge, Fire Quantum etc. are still vastly inferior in terms of enhanced functionality as compared with Firefox legacy (ESR 52.9) with is extensions (I prefer a utility truck versus a stripped-down race car), thus enabling multiple tab rows (Quantum can be hacked to provide that), reducing tab width (I usually have dozens open thru sessions) and actual Colorful Tabs, a superior Session saver, etc. etc. I run Firefox ESR as well as Quantum portable, among other browsers. However, as a supplementary browser Chrome (portable) has its place, and this extension helps in that regard. Thank God for options and for those who provide them.

One of the few tab managers that work getting new tabs to open right of current tab every time! Thank you!

Helped me for a while, but had to uninstall because the opt+u keyboard shortcut makes it impossible to type an umlaut on mac. Need to be able to customize keyboard shortcuts to avoid this kind of thing.

Works as a charm, fast - no need to restart, thanks

works great, but unfortunately weird bug that is a killer for me - it somehow deactivates certain shortcuts on mac, e.g. alt+u doesn't enable German umlauts anymore - across all tabs and content, not just the URL bar

Hijacked my copy and paste for months and I couldn't figure out why it didn't work anymore! Who makes the default settings for any keystroke control C? It shouldn't even let you override a common system keystroke. Boo.

Could you add that popups opened as a tab follow the same postion as the settings for that? Love this. Thanks.

I find the new tab position option absolutely essential; I wish it was a native setting. This extension get pretty close to that - the behavior is very smooth. I also appreciate the ability to have popup windows open in a tab.

Great extension, but it has bugs (I guess incompatible with changed APIs?) and doesn't seem to be in development anymore. I've switched to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tab-position-customizer-2/jglbflnkbgbklegdblkohbbbheeeklej/ which doesn't seem to have any bugs and is open source (so even if it dies I can fix it).

Does all the stuff I missed from Firefox Tab Mix Plus! I'm also not sure what "tab on activate" does but it has all the options I needed so doesn't matter :P

Kai Noack December 3rd, 2016

Great extension, however, to make it 100 % useful it would be nice to provide a shortcut for opening a new tab to the right of the recent tab, like ALT+CTRL+T.

Frances Cherman August 23rd, 2016

A lot more people would use it if the options were clearer. For example: "Activate Tab After Tab Closing" • First tab • Last tab • Right tab • Left tab • In activated order • Source tab (Open link) • Source tab (Open link) & In activated order The first four items are clear enough, and I think I understand "Source Tab," and probably understand "In activated order" but what does "Source tab (Open link)" mean in this context? This could be so easily explained with a tooltip. Or perhaps a diagram. Another example: "Tab on Activate" • Default • Last • First What does "activate" mean in this context? Clicking the icon? Why not spell it out for us? It's not as if the page is crammed with text. Also, the name "Tab Position Options" is confusing. Half the time I accidentally click "Tab Position Options" thinking I'll see the "Options" page but instead I'm taken to this page in the Chrome store.

It works amazingly! The only thing that I don't like about it is that ctrl+(shift+)tab becomes fairly useless if you've got "tab on activate" set to something other than default.

After closing a tab I want the last active tab to become active again. This extension does that and more!

The only extension that changes tab behavior in the way I desire. I only wish it did more (like FF's tab mix plus)!

Awesome. Used the "go to last active tab" when closing a tab, behavior in Firefox. Since moving to Chrome I've missed it, some addons could deliver the function but they are outdated and hit-and-miss. This works perfectly. Please keep updating it, if nessesary.

I like it a lot. Withholding one star because I'd like external links to open in the background, while new blank tabs open in the foreground. This extension treats them as the same action it seems.

Alvin Chong (iron2000) February 21st, 2014

Like how simple it is. Maybe you can consider using event page instead of background page so that the extension runs only when called instead of running in background all the time.
