I love this tool very much for its simplicity-cum-power. I have been facing one persistent problem though. If a website has poor design the selection jumps uncontrollably sometimes. In such cases, a large chunk of text is elected and highlighted. It is fine up to here. The problem is the pop-up in this tool to change delete the highlights does not appear on very large chunks of highlighted text. The tool menu from the extension bar shows me all the highlights. The large chunk highlighted appears too. In the menu, I wished there was an option to select the chunk individually and delete it. But, currently, the menu has only "Delete All" option. I request the developer, to either make the popup tool more consistent or add an option in tool menu from the extension bar to select and delete the items individually.
While copying all highlighted text at once and pasting somewhere, there is no space between each highlighted paragraphs. It would be nice if developer could add a line gap between each highlighted text while pasting everything at once. Delete all button is also not working.
Simply the best
nothing to complain of, exactly what I need, just refresh the page once and you're good to go. i love how it gives no nonsense and gives me exactly what i need
I really like this highlighter and use it for webinars I hold. Love that it is possible to use different colours and that it remembers ehat I have highlighted during the webinars. I use shortcut to open the highlighter, works perfectly, but I seem not to be able to get shortcut to change colours to work. I cant either get the delete all to work, but I have tried som many highlighters and this one is absolutely the best one I have found.
Don't work for huge texts as logs from Jenkins but in the same time works good with small-middle pages
best highlighter
amazing
Amazing how hard it was to find a tool like this that just works. The top highlighters all have issues, don't work, or are overly intrusive. This is simple and does what i need without asking me for my e-mail!
love the tool very much, its simple and light, but it has a bug where you can't erase notes, but i still give you 5 star, I trust author can fix it.
i don't get everyone in the reviews saying it doesn't work, it works great! i love how you can customize the colors, and you don't need to create an account like for other highlighters.
No nonsense and works perfectly. Can't believe I used to work without it
I love your extension but please add cloud-based highlighting
eh its fine i just wished it worked for PDF files
Refresh your site before using the highlighter to make it work. The extension works perfectly!
Works perfectly fine/as expected. Reload your pages before you review and claim it doesn't work.
Works very well and like that can create a keyboard shortcut to highlight text After making a number of highlights, one useful feature would be an option to have a line break between highlighted content. As it is, when I paste all the highlights into Evernote, I need to separate the highlighted content manually.
Stupid highlighter. Does not work at all. Dumb developer and bad product. You suck
Works for the most part but is nothing special - I can't seem to figure out how to access my flash cards, and there are no instructions/guide on how to see them. It also forgets some of my highlights at random, but other than that it's great
the extension is very good, but I hope that the highlights is saved **remotely** and not svaed only on device, so If I cleared the cache I can still have the highlights
Does not work at all
Does not work. I don't understand why 5 stars are given here
Doesn't work
Some improvement scope: 1. If the highlighter is on and I search some text on the page by browser finder, every occurrence of that text get automatically highlighted. 2. An undo option would be helpful which could be enabled by 'ctrl+z'
I use this to highlight pages on Reddit before saving them to my Zotero library... and it works well
Very good extension!!! Well done!
doesn't work
Does not work !!
Great start. Not sure why it tracks all non-highlights, too. Also needs a list of highlights (without having to go to the webpage).
best highlighter out there, just perfect!
Will 'lose' some of the highlights if you refresh/ revisit a page. Very annoying. Throws a fit on sciencedirect.com as it struggles to properly highlight.
You added custom colors! Faaaaantastic! This brings my review to 5 stars! Everything I want is here. The user experience could be easier though. 1. More slots for custom colors would be nice, when setting shortcuts, the custom colors mess it up for some reason making all my custom colors dissapear??? and finally, 3. a transparency setting would be nice as well for the custom colors since manually tuning and picking the best color can be tedious (this is especially useful for dark mode when the colors get changed).
Cant seem to highlight pages sent to my through canvas for class nor when I open a PDF that is saved on my computer. Both of those reasons are what I needed it for the most unfortunately. However, works on most other pages I tried so three stars from me.
Amazing how hard it was to find a tool like this that works. Select text, Alt-H, it's highlighted. Mouse over highlighted text, a bubble appears offering: copy, colour, and delete highlight. So simple. Thank you.
The new green color is awesome.
Worked fine until recently, now just doesnt work. Wont highlight anything. Should have kept the previous version
At first it was awesome and worked real well. Then an update happened and now it just doesn't work. Used to be my most used extension so I'm disappointed.
Sometimes it works, most times it does not. Buggy from the day it was updated recently, fix thi
For some reason this extension doesn't work. I tried everything, right click > highlight and even alt+H. It doesn't work on web pages and even on PDF files. I have no idea what the issue is.
fixed all the problems I had with the previous version. double clicking highlights only the world and not the space after it. purple was changed to a much more pleasant shade, and you can even change the shade manually. great extension!
Simple, easy, and save automatically.
Amazing extension. Searching for a long time for this type of extension. Thanks for your valuable time and effort .
i love the simplicity
Works great!
All highlights disappeard.
A very easy-to-use tool for highlighting specific text in large academic references. It's made a student's study a lot easier while having to save multiple webpages. Thank you Jérôme Parent-Lévesque!
the simplicity I was looking for
Really nice app to use and definitely much simpler than other highlighters but some pet peeves of mine (that are probs small) is that the colours don't work when you're on an app with a darkscreen and the colours can sometimes be a bit ugly or hard to see for some of the text colours (e.g. black text with pink highlighting) so perhaps that could change? Anyways if you're looking for an extension that allows you to highlight text and SAVE them when you see the website again then this is the extension for you!
Awesome!! It would be nice if it allows a shortcut to delete the selected highlight.
I really like this tool. Thank you so much for developing it. I have a question. Will my highlights be gone if I clean up my browser cookies and caches?
It worked great for me until one particular web-page displayed random highlights that I didn't create. It looks like the webpage is "shared" with other application users. I deleted them and put mine but next day they were gone and there were other new highlights instead.
So only problem is (although it is never advertised) you cannot sync between work&home pc. I got a question for it, is there a file that is used for storing annotations for later use or are annotations stored within somewhere in chrome files? (My though process was, if there is a folder for saved annot., then I can sync it via, say, google drive.)
Works quite well but any chance of adding functionality so that data can be saved to the cloud or maybe bookmarks? Thanks
Very helpful, especially since everything is now digitalized now. It is very simple to use, only requiring a press of a button. I love it :)
Doesn't work at all
I highlighted text on Quora and after a few days it was all lost. At least get a menu where the highlighted text is listed even when your extension is not able to locate it on the webpage.
best and neat highlighter but 2 con: 1, toggle on/off in menu which is bit waste of time. best just toggle by click the button, and right click button to go menu. 2, nowhere to find all highlighted pages and it's content in a page that I can manage them, say delete them. currently I have to save all the page in bookmark to manage them, and manage them one by one.
The copy all feature is a life saver! Love this app so far
While other reviews are positive (and one reason I installed this app), I simply can't get any portion of a web page to highlight. First I tried selecting a portion of web text, then performing the right click option, choosing the color, and selecting "highlight". Nothing. I tried the "toggle cursor" option, which turned the cursor into a highlighter, but still nothing when activated. Tried re-installing this ap. Nothing.
I couldn't even get it to work :/
straight to the point extension, no sign up or whatever. would love if it has the ability to highlight pdf files too :)
the best of all. that's all i can say
Just toggle the highlighter and keep highlighting, then just copy them all with one click. Thank you so much very useful.
This is perhaps the only Highlighter extension that is light on browser memory usage, easy-friendly to use, and simply effective. I like how this extension gets updated, unlike the others on here. Pros: Easy-friendly to use. Updated frequently. Keeps track of all highlighted citations even if you close Internet browser. Cons: Needs a PDF implementation to highlight such files on browser. Upgrade IU in the foreseeable future.
awsome !
Anyway we can quickly go to the "next" highlight text? Like the simplicity, but would be great if we can go next.
It didn't work for me at all. I was trying to use it on an online pdf but the key stroke as well as the drop down didn't do anything.
Not working for me
Love it. Highlighter is such a simple extension, but it makes it so easy for taking notes on a webbook. I do have a couple suggestions, though. For one, if possible, make it so that I can copy a certain color highlight (This would be extremely useful because it would make it so that I can organize certain notes by highlight colors, and then copy those notes, in an organized manner, to a document). The other suggestion I would give, would be to make it an option to only see the color that I am currently highlighting in.
doesn't work?
Hi, Thanks for creating this awesome and really simple highlighter tool. Again Thanks
it good
like really.... i dont know how to use it
It works really well! Even if I refresh the page its still on there, highlighting is really easy. All I have to do is right click. And deleting the highlighted section is easy as well. I recommend it.
It just works and doesn't ask for my e-mail or to make an account or any other stuff other highlighters require. It is simple. I set my shortcut to "Command+D" on a Mac and now I can highlight one-handed.
It didn't work. I tried multiple different ways to highlight on several web pages and nothing happened.
Much better than the other highlighting extension called simple highlighter.
Does what it says, the ability to highlight and copy text simultaneously is genius! The extension does however go crazy on occasion and highlight the whole page and I haven't found a way to undo it, when it does that.
This is really good, just what I needed. Doesn't have unnecessary complexities and yet has all the essential features. Thanks Jérôme!
It worked
Very straight foward. Allows you to change highlight colors via extension instead of redirecting you to another page.
It is really nice except I need a page that lists the highlights I have made. Once I leave the website there is no way to go back to that page where the highlights are. A list with at least the first few words of a highlight with a link back would be helpful. That is uaually under "options". Options is normally in a popup when you right click over the extension icon. The options on this are greyed out.
Amazing. Love it. I think thye are trying to add additional functionality now and then. They try to highlight text on websites by themselves based on what I am looking. And I appreciate that. I would like features such as more hotkey related change of color. Maybe underlines and possibility to draw boxes and comment here and there, like in a PDF.
Where do the highlights get saved to? I am not clear on how to extract them from the article?
Flakey at times. When it works it's very handy but too often it "forgets" itself and disappears or highlights the rest of the page from where it was selected. This usually happens if the tab is closed or if Chrome is shut down.
Amazing tool! Glad I found it; super helpful for quick highlighting on websites, as it stays on page when you come back to it.
How do I consult my previous highlights? I would LOVE the option to add notes!
It's very promising. It's simple, just what I wanted, but I cant find where it stores the notes?
As an online home schooled student, it gets hard to scroll around and find answers in the text but now I can highlight as if I'm reading a passage right in front of me. A M A Z I N G. I love this extension. Since everyone is off of school and doing online, 10/10 am going to recommend to others. Also, everyone be safe from the corona.
simple to use, great tool! feature request: keep data in sync on page revisit, even on a different pc, but same browser profile
Although it allowed me to highlight on the web, I found it to be frustrating toggling with the feature. I also need a feature to circle and make some points and unfortunately this extension was not good enough for me.
I just wanted a simple extension to highlight a page I use for work. I just needed one time highlights to try to correlate a few hundred lines in a table. I tried several other extensions that either needed a login account or did not work. This one worked for me! Thank you!
DOES NOT WORK. A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME
FEATURE REQUEST It would be really cool if there was a feature that made it so a few clicks would automatically select the highlighted portion for copying/pasting.
This should have more stars. It is ultra simple and does exactly what I need, highlight text in the browser with easy shortcut. I tried a lot of others and they keep opening up pop up windows which I do not need. Simple and easy, you got 5 Stars from me!
Working bad on all pages I tried. I've lost all highlights made while reading a book.
Far, far better than the other highlighting extensions out there. Easy to use. No annoying pop-ups. Stores the highlights on your computer, not on some 3rd-party web service.
Helpful! But does not work on PDF pages. Sometimes when highlighting Google-Highlighted Search Results, this will confuse the extension and other Google-Highlighted Search Results will appear highlighted. (I swear I'm not trying to make a tongue twister)
Its great for any one looking for simple highlighter.
Works as expected! Easy to use and keeps track of my highlights in pages that I've visited and highlighted. Would be nice to have a page where ALL my highlighted pages could me managed.
dose exactly what is says take note you need to refresh the page you want to highlight after installation.
Works sweetly and amazingly for academic literature in HTML form (web pages). For pdf I guess we have to use pdf editors to highlight, and for other web apps there's no choice, but for my use case it has been a real blessing
Doesn't work at all when i right click on pdf or web pages it shows highlighter option but there is neither color drop down list nor highlighted the text with auto color.Very Bad
I'm sorry but this did not work in the least bit. I assume it worked previously but not anymore. Jerome, you asked us to tell you which sites don't work. None of the websites work, including Gmail. I read reviews that Gmail works, after refreshing. I tried without success. I hope you fix this but until then I will be removing this extension.
Doesn't work at all. Does nothing!
does not work wah wah
Does not work.
Does not work :(
Does not work
DOES NOT WORK
Doesn't seem to work at all. Possibly outdated extension?
I like that you highlight by right-clicking, using the context menu, & that you have a choice of colors. I found that sometimes the webpage is slow to reload the highlight but it does comes back. One problem area is in gmail: often I save emails for future reference & I wanted to use this to highlight my pertinent text. (Not to be confused with reply & highlight in gmail). I find that I must open the email & refresh the page while the email open in order to get the highlight to return. To the developer- is this something that can be changed so that the highlight returns when the email is opened, rather than having to refresh? Also, will the highlights on web pages & emails disppear when I am clearing the cache or anything else in Chrome? Otherwise, I am quite happy with this extension. Simple & effective. Thank you.
