It needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled constantly or you can't log in. When it works it's good though. Pretty terrible for a paid service though

By far the worst calling extension, constantly crashes or just doesn't work meaning you have to redownload and install over and over again.
It is the worst. This company is the worst. They are so unhelpful; the stupid extension rings so loudly, and you can't make it not ring. I already have my phone, my desktop app, and my cell all ringing, and then I have the extension BLASTING through my earphones, and there is no setting to turn off. I only wanted this so I could easily use the text feature with phone numbers without copying and pasting into the ring central desktop app, which isn't worth it. I hate this company so much don't ever use them. It makes it even more frustrating that it would be THE easiest fix if they just thought it through for ONE second, yet there is no solution. Outrageous.

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. Terrible extension. Constant updates are made to this extension with no notice to users. You will need to delete the extension and re-download it multiple times a week to get any text messages to come through. Calls echo badly. Don't use unless you have to.
I used to dial by clicking the icon directly from my CRM. Now I have to copy and paste it to the desktop app. I have spent so much time trying to get it to work, but no luck. I already paid for a year, so I am stuck with these guys. It is so annoying and frustrating.

You make crazy updates yet don't have the staff or software to support these changes. Extension will need to be deleted and re-downloaded EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Latest software is TRASH. Please help lol
So I finally downloaded the most recent "upgrade" and wow do I regret it. I can no longer call by clicking on a phone number in my browser, super glitchy and slow, tried adding the chrome extension and it disappears, sent faxes disappear randomly, Ring Central FAQ is worthless, app will also ring randomly when there is no call. I have not dealt with their customer service, but if it anything like their product it will be worthless.
We use this because its easy to hover and text over phone numbers of clients. IT VERY GLITCHY AND CRASHES OFTEN. 90% our of business runs on SMS texting, so I really wish I didn't use this for my company. If any has a better option please let me know!!!! I've been using this for a year and its getting WORSE!!!!!!! AVOID IF YOU CAN!!!! Customer Service is ALSO TERRIBLE!
This company has gone down the tube in the past year especially with their main RingCentral phone app. Their customer service is a joke. Have called numerous times to figure out why I can no longer get or receive calls since I'm getting nothing but silence. Always get the run around, always promises someone will call me back.. no one ever does. Other times texts won't go out and the app will not tell you until you physically go into the text history to check. The most fun is duplicate texts, where it will send the same text out numerous times hours after and won't tell you it's a duplicate text the person is responding to. Sorry but I doubt I've ever run into a more horrendous company.
Desktop app is horrible and the chrome browser buddy is even worse. I wish I was not forced by my company to use ring central.
This program in my experience, inconsistently but frequently has deleted all data from recently sent faxes. After multiple attempts, no online or telephone customer service is available to help with this problem. I am running two businesses. Lost records are problematic, if not catastrophic!. Please save yourself a headache, and look elsewhere for a reliable service!

You really need to add localhost and the equivalents to the block list or make it manageable. I'm getting cloud front errors when doing local development.

I love this extension but since Friday 23/07 it is not working. It rings put but there is no audio at both ends! Cant his be fixed?

Rings in browser at the same time as desktop app, but when I hang up in the desktop app, the browser app keeps ringing! I cannot stop it! Help!
When it works it's nice. But after fairly smooth sailing for a couple months it's totally broken down. I can't click to dial half of the time and other times the connection between dialing is severed totally. The app sometimes freezes up and won't let me hang up which is tough when you're leaving a message an unable to get off the phone. Lots of work to be done before this is a 5-star type of extension.
Very useful. But is there a way to just launch Ringcentral Phone without opening the Ringcentral pop-up with the dialing keypad??
if chrome didn't constantly delete the extension that would be great also the memory in the extension is terrible i'm constantly having to re input the settings to get it to function with the polycom phones
Wish that the actual text message appeared in the Chrome notification pop up. Always when do I click on the notification it doesn't open up the message. The app pops up but I then have the extra step of having to navigate to the message section. Should just take me directly there.
Why can you not use the messaging feature on the extension? You can do everything but that...

The app has a bad habit of not sending my texts, or being unable to send texts, but not telling me they're not sent. I then have to open the app on my phone in order to make sure the texts were sent. Not to mention, since the update, I have to sign in and sign out after every time I open my computer in order to make calls. Now, as a lovely addition, I can't make calls through the browser at all. I keep getting the "Please grant RingCentral for Google to access your audio." Access has always been granted. That's never changed. . . I've reset the options to RE-grant access. . . I'm either gonna have to find a new app or stop updating it, because this is pretty silly at this point.
Quick Call is Buggy. Clicking the message icon works, but clicking the dial icon opens a blank new tab without any information in the dialer. The plugins attempts use this link, but it doesn't go any further into the app: rcmobile://call?number=
The extension works great except that SMS always defaults to using the browser. Ideally sms uses the same App as calling or we are given a way to customize the SMS app. As it stands MMS and attachments are not possible.
I installed it this morning. The first call of the day came in, I answered using the desktop softphone, and then ended the call. Then RingCentral kept ringing incessantly. I systematically had to close and re-open everything on my computer until closing Chrome fixed the issue. The extension kept incessantly ringing even though there was no incoming call. That's all it took for me to remove it and continue on with the desktop app only.
Won't let me login. Sends the security code to my email then it won't accept the code.
I originally had the click to dial extension and it worked great. Came to work one day About 08/24/2020 and it not only no longer worked, it had been stripped out of my google chorme browser. Tried what they now called click to dial and it works ok for texting but not calling from an app for customerservice. Now I have to dial it manually. Their progress sucks.
Used to be great for easy dialling from websites, but now suddenly i'm unable to click to dial... only click to sms so not so great anymore. The phone icon no longer appears when hovering.
Worthless. Can't pin other indiiduals screens so if they are sharing something, you are not going to be able to see it. And you can forget finding any help on the problem. The help section is so convoluted it just creates more issues than it solves. It's like they took ZOOM and made it impossible for Chrome. Again, worthless piece of trash.

This extension is ok. What has been really frustrating me is that whenever I post on many forums, a huge Ringcentral Icon pops itself inside of the post without my knowledge or ability to see. Sometimes, I'm simply denied the ability to post, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get rid of the stinking icon. Why is this occuring?

why have this option when it isn't going to perform or limit the functionalities if you cannot keep up with it. It seemed to give me issues at first, after playing around got it to finally work than after couple days, now when i click to dial, no app pops up. Phone connects and i have no control to disconnect or see the app because it does not pop up anymore
I can't get it to work. I log in, it sends me a security code via email, I enter it, then get this message: "Sorry, we can't recognize the device. Please use other device or browser and try again." Not a useful extension if I can't log in...
Love the concept, glitchy in execution. Restart it 4 or 5 times per day!
Unfortunately, I can only say that RingCentral's Chrome Extension for Google has actually gotten worse and worse over the years. I don't know if they're not putting any focus on it now because they're trying to push their glip app, but it's kind of maddening and I'm seriously considering canceling my service entirely and looking elsewhere for my cloud phone needs. One consistent issue I've had is that the SMS "inbox" list view of all the most recent texts fails to display names from Google Contacts, and so only displays numbers. This makes it really annoying to not be able to see names, especially when that's one of the main supposed benefits of this integration - that the app is supposed to be able to read your contacts from your Google account. The contacts do appear in the "Compose New SMS" view, but not in the inbox view, so it's not as horrible as it could be, but still kind of a basic failure that creates a lot of annoyance. I have tried authorizing, un-authorizing, and re-authorizing, which is the process that is supposed to enable access to the contacts, but a few months ago that stopped working, so now I'm just stuck with this problem. Again I've used this extension for probably 4 years, and there have been periods where it works fine. And then beyond that I have a number of custom google apps scripts that I use in running our business, and a couple months ago the RingCentral extension has started creating weird conflicts in my Google Scripts, like making things run really slow and messing up of the display in some of my web applications UIs, which kind of adds insult to injury. This took me about a month to figure out, but it was pretty clear when all my problems got resolved instantly when I turned the RingCentral extension off. It's not like my needs are complicated - I just want to be able to send texts (which it does do fine), have the extension properly display my contacts, and not have it mess up any other unrelated apps I'm using, but the RingCentral Chrome extension for Google even bungles these minimal requirements. The feeling you get using this extension is that the RingCentral tech team doesn't really care about maintaining it or making it stable, which is really unfortunate.
Keep receiving error. "Request limit exceeded. App will resume in 60 seconds" this keeps going on over and over and does not allow calls or text to go through at times.
Extension does not even have a field where I can add a meeting ID to join. Not everybody has an account.
De duck is this??? i can never be in meetings cause it doesn't load the participants videos... it is awful.
A good start RS but the extension needs to have the option to be "heavy" or "light"! I can not send attachments via SMS, I cant listen in on employee calls etc. etc.
Was and has been working PERFECTLY. However after the latest ChromeOS update (74) now get my own voice echoed back once. I have initiated a call. Does not happen with other WebRTC calling applications and does not happen if you make the call with Glip.
I have been using this extension for over a year and this used to work great but in the last 30 days (or longer Im not sure) It will not allow me to use the click to dial/SMS feature. I keep getting an error message to "enter in a valid number". This is the main reason I use this extension so now I have no use for it. Once this is fixed I will update my review.
The updates, in my opinion, are getting worse and worse. Now I can only send a message to one number at a time, the text box is still ridiculously small, and when you type, it'll sometimes randomly jump to the bottom of whatever you're writing.
Tries to do too much and breaks things. I have it set to only work on sites I specify (and don't have any specified) because I just want to insert info into my calendar meetings, but even with everything turned off it pulls the phone numbers out of text editing fields in chrome so they are just *gone* (such as wordpress editor). Turning off the extensions was the only option to not corrupt all of my work.
I cant even log into it. I called these guys twice now and they are saying that they have nothing to do with the chrome extension.. So weird. I tried 3 different computers and it will not let me log in. I was able to before my vacation so its definitely not my computer. You guys need better customer service!

I love being able to just click on a phone number and it just calls. Only Issue I have is that it open an extra, blank tab every time I make a call.
I selected "Only show RingCentral in the websites I specify" in the Options but it still shows the small pop-over box every time I hover over anything that looks like a number on every website I visit.

Not sure what the issue is with the recent extension update, but since installing, it crashes a number of specific web apps we use for project management (Basecamp.com namely).
The text box is way to small. It's difficult to navigate and edit. And sometimes while moving my cursor forward or backwards it will suddenly jump down to the end of the text. Also if I move my cursor over a phone number the little icon will pop up and WILL. NOT. GO. AWAY! Extremely frustrating. Sometimes its right smack in the middle of my screen and I have to try to work around it. Please fix!

Most recent update ruined this extension. I have a dual monitor set up and run with 3 or 4 windows open. This extension runs in each window taking up way too much screen real estate. It also matches whatever zoom setting you are using in that particular window, so a site that you have to zoom in to read smaller fonts this extension gets larger in that window as well. I really liked the sidebar layout from the previous version that allowed you to hide the sidebar independently of other window behavior.
Haven't used it yet, but the visual graphic is fuzzy. when you compare it to the dedicated ringcentral app,or the google window the extension app sits on, the graphic is fuzzy, makes you think there is something wrong with your eyesite :(
Obnoxiously asks for permissions almost every single use. Often leaves users in loop waiting to log in.
This tool is a life saver for a person doing online prospecting like me. Click to call works like a charm! 20X productivity increase, very smooth app. The old version of ‘RingCentral for Google” would be buggy, because it would not properly ‘track’ the phone numbers down a spreadsheet in a web-page. However with the new version of it (version 4.0), this problem has been resolved! So great work by the app team. Also, I like the little ‘pointy’ thing, that makes sure the user knows what number is being dialed. This really helps with the user experience of this tool.
The texting box is way too small to enter text. You can't edit as well as the previous version. I do not like the fact that I can't move the ring central box from monitor to the other.
Very poor app. Old version used to work fine on Google Chrome. New version takes lots of space, very slow in performance and does not work well.
Updated with new version 4.0. The app is much more friendly to use now, does not take up a lot of screen and easy to find by clicking the RingCentral icon on Chrome Extension. However requires to reauthorize to Google and if you are like me who does pay attention to alerts then you need to go in to settings (3 horizontal bars) to right side and click authorize button

If you can't do it yourself, then call in and they will gladly make it happen!
Just what I needed!
The ability to send faxes is missing. You still have to install the desktop software or login to your RingCentral web portal to send faxes. That's a little weird.
It was 5 stars for about two months. Good call clarity. I had to use this extension b/c the ringcentral for windows application would crash. After about two months, it stopped being able to make calls out "number is unavailable message." Neither Ringcentral help nor my company's help could resolve the issue.
After using this extension for a few months I have to say I reconsider my comment before of this being so awesome. I love the fact you can call from google itself because I work at home and use the telephone very much. But, it calls even though ive finished that call, its constantly telling me an error so I have to keep relogging in and out, im told I am hard to hear and staticky and I have multiple headsets, etc. I also have a team experiencing problems and I also use the app and pc version as well as this one. It would would be awesome if you update this. I am sure others have experiences issues as most the stars are low anyways. I use this service as a business necessity I would expect it to work much better.
No dedicated "Hang up" button in the extension's side panel. Calls stay active until you refresh the page. Kinda silly if you ask me.
This extensions SUCKS! It doesn't allow to join an scheduled meeting by using the extension itself, it doesn't work. It requires the Desktop App.
This extension lacks the ability to control the audio output device and only plays audio through the default system playback device. Unlike the desktop version, which allows you to output audio to another device such as a USB or bluetooth headset.
Needs the HUD that's available on the desktop version. I use my Chromebook for remote work, and the HUD feature would be pretty useful..
This plugin is great for making calls directly out of Web sites.
THEY WILL bill your credit card again and again and again, without notice, and when you cancel they say oh well here is a giant fee for cancelling, and I said stop billing my card and they keep billing my card, this is theft at this point. The fact that click to call functionality exists is great, but as a web developer, having it overwrite the CSS of every phone number link is very irritating. It often completely removes the styling of phone links and makes them white, meaning anywhere a number appears on a white background, it disappears. If it had a less invasive way of highlighting numbers I can call, it would be much better.
This plugin has been great, but it interfere with QuickBooks Online Accountant version. The clients data will not load if this extension is turned on. Use it in a different browser profile/user.
As much as I like the idea to dial from the browser the quality is terrible. People telling me they hear me as I am in a cave from far away hearing every single noise on the background. I use same headset for the windows app and browser app and I am forced to transfer calls to the windows app just so I can work normally. I see so many people like it so I hope I am not doing it the right way. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I use Jabra PRO and is working great trough the soft-phone or the desk-phone. Thanks to anyone willing to share a solution.
Great plugin now that calls can be made directly. I am on Linux and so use this without a problem and quite often have not had similar problems to users on Windows with the RC client.
Love the ease of being able to type text on my computer rather than phone during working hours.
This plugin has been great. It allows me access to texting, voicemails and ring out without having the full application installed on my pc draining resources. I use a deskphone in conjunction with it. Stability has been a bit of an issue but by rebooting daily or weekly it addresses the issue.
ring central is waste of money no customer service no it help it took me 6 months just to get my office phone that was purchased from them to switch out

I wish it was able to display all text messages but other than that I absolutely love this plugin. It has allowed me to streamline my CRM work. The ease at which I can send text messages to my clients and leads is THE BEST!
Works great. I can send a text without using a small keyboard on my phone. Call log is handy and I can listen to voice mail on the computer. I can use it anywhere I log into my gmail.

Ring Central is the best thing that ever happened to my business. Connected to my computer and tablet, I can run my office no matter where I am. If you have a business that has to look as professional when you are on the go as in the office, this is it. I put on a headset and I can conduct a web conference, do a phone call or share a whiteboard anywhere. THE BEST
