A good app, unfortunately today it's started bugging. I was having a problem where simply hovering over a youtube video's thumbnail causes it to open. And clicking back takes you back to whatever page you were on before opening youtube making it kind of a pain. After googling around i found people discussing this problem today and they determined it's this plugin that's causing problems, and it does it in both chrome and firefox. I like this extension, which is why i still give it a good rating. Didn't know another way to let the dev know what's happening.

Conflicts with the drag&drop playlist reordering in Youtube Music for some god-forsaken reason.

Maybe I misunderstood what it's supposed to do based on the description. But it certainly doesn't do what I was hoping/expecting. As it can't block the forced 60fps from youtube even though the 720-30fps video's exist.

Since the latest update, I keep getting a Youtube popup asking me to learn more about Youtube Premium features. Hovering over any thumbnail or video title makes the popup appear, and closing it doesn't stop it from opening again

It works. it keeps everything from defaulting to the lowest resolution. I just wish there was a pay or subscription version.

Been using this for a while, works like a charm and is a must have. While the google form opening randomly to ask around data collection was annoying I actually really appreciate the transparency!

popups and creator is going to sell your data

Does it what its meant to do, but also gives ya popups that ask for money / to review the addon. At first I just blocked its popups with adblock - but I dont like having addons I dont particularly trust so got something else instead. Would be good if he got rid of the nonsense.

Developer has decided he wants to profit off of this and will randomly open tabs on you begging for money or threatening to sell your data. Do not install.

This extension works perfectly, but recently it has -created popups while watching videos -opened new tabs without permission -threatened to sell my data and I do not trust it anymore.

Stop asking me to review this when I'm watching YouTube it's so annoying.

Doesn't need monetization. Greed ruins everything.

Creator is injecting ads into youtube and opening web pages asking about monetizing his app. Can not recommend this app anymore.

Soliciting donations and is hoping to track your data to sell it while achieving a single and seemingly simple task. Why does this addon need money? You wrote the addon and totally have the option to charge for your work but I can't imagine the dev time/upkeep being a justification for your plans to monetize.

Going to track on ALL urls. Going to sell user data. Spammed a google form on my browser

Added ads and is considering selling your information on ALL sites to 3rd parties.

the creator is about to start selling your data, uninstall and stop using! this morning i opened youtube and once i opened a video a new tab was opened without my permission asking for money. this was the message from the creator. "I am writing to ask for your thoughts on a consideration I have been making regarding the extension I have been offering it for free and relying on donations, but I am now considering monetizing it by selling anonymous data to improve it and make it sustainable" i will post my response to that here too, and i highly sugest that if you care about your data privacy than you also uninstall this addon, i will also be reporting this to the chrome store as well. "i will no longer be using this addon. your intrusive ad like pop ups asking for donations was bad enough, but i could easily use my ad blocker to zap those away. now this? nope, another intrusive pop up but now you have the gall to as how i feel about you selling my "anonymous" data? how do you think i feel about that? no thanks. "

The app has started to open a new tab without user interaction to ask donations.

Since youtube started auto-downscaling video to save their bandwith, I appreciate that I can actually start videos in 4K instead of having to change the quality from 480p every time. I've been using this for a few months and never had an issue with it.

This extension used to work about half of the time, now it has started opening new windows without user interaction and replacing part of the page with a donation prompt that comes back even if you dismiss it.

A must-have, especially when YouTube lowers everyone's bandwidth quality.

Excellent. This little service assures I get the best quality video available there is, at all times. I tried it once last year, and since then, it is with me.

Sometimes using with Kiwi Browser for android the video quality don't work, but I think it's the YouTube itsfelf, overrall it's a great extension!, I'm using for 1 Year directly.

It boggles my mind that YouTube still hasn't implemented what should be a standard feature after all these years. Good thing we got people like you to fix this silly problem. Thanks! :)

This is a great extension, but unfortunately I'm noticing it causes a delay when using Bluetooth on YT. Disabling this extension fixes the issue. :/

Perfect, does exactly as advertised. A PERFECT fix for YouTubes new 'AUTO 144p' bs they implemented. I would literally kill anyone for a $100m investment to develop a competitor to YouTube, until then, thank you for doing the lord's work.

Awesome extension! Super simple to use and the annoying manual re-adjusting of video res is no longer necessary. Great job.

Really good but with a downside. I can not upgrade the video quality since the extension resets it to the default set quality. Could you please check and add this enhancement?

Works perfect keeps all videos at my set 1080P. YouTube is weird my internet is fast enough to watch at 4K, but YouTube drops the quality to 480P. With this extension I don't have to worry about that anymore. It really works, thank you for this.

Good software but it is necessary to have shortcuts for different qualities like for example ctrl+/ for 144p and ctrl+' for 720p etc etc or let the user select a suitable shortcut for himself/herself.

Works great w/ YouTube. :) iCloud Drive uploading caused YouTube to go bezerk w/ my HD vid viewing; auto quality kept downgrading to 720p despite my connection being able to handle 1080p and even 1440p (the latter works as long as my download speed consistently stays at 25+ Mbps). Issue's gone after installing this extension. One flaw I'd like to point out, though, is that the extension also messes w/ Google Drive's auto quality which causes the vid there to stay in an infinite loop. Hope the developer can fix this issue in future updates of this extension.

Just installed because I was having issue where youtube was setting automatic 480p. Not working even after install, but still 3 stars because I'm sure dev will fix it, and I will change my rating when that happens.

Great lil extension! Does what it says without fail Feature request for dev: make quality per video category. I only listen to music videos and am fine with 144p or lowest possible on them; but the rest I watch so HD.

Works great. Apparently YouTube is making moves to reduce their overall load by sending 480p to everyone by default. This fixes their stupidity.

Your excuse in a previous reply for the change of "read and change my youtube data" of it being for YouTube Mobile doesn't make sense. Most people watch youtube mobile on the YouTube app, not Chrome. I don't know anybody that downloads chrome on their phone just to watch youtube on there. So that excuse is BS for this extension my guy. So what's the real reason for this change? I won't turn your extension back on until you either revert the changes, or actually tell the truth.

Pretty good. YouTube likes to go 480p sometimes even though my connection is fast and stable. This solves that issue.

This is the first extension that actually does what it's supposed to. A lot of other auto HD extensions I tried were seemingly overwritten by youtube (back to 480p) after they applied their resolution, but this one keeps the chosen resolution applied. Definitely recommend :)

--Problem just started happening today-- When I skip around the video with the left/right arrow keys a couple times, the youtube video settings menu pops up and the arrow keys start moving around in the settings submenus. Disabling the extension stops it from happening so I'm guessing it's some weird interaction with a new youtube update.

Developers is working on the issue with the settings menu opening. It's a youtube changing their design, don't leave negative reviews. Be patient, should be updated soon.

Was working great for ages, Recently there's an issue where when a new video is opened, the extension open the video's quality setting panel as well, which has to be closed manually. Also, using the left and right arrows for seeking no longer works correctly (they will select items in the control bar instead of seeking). It's like the extension has forced the focus to be the video's control area and not the video itself. Disabling the extension gets rid of the issues.

The dev for this extension is SUPER helpful on their github repo. It can occasionally fall into a bug state, but he updates quickly. Can't blame the dev for wonky youtube updates.

IDK if anyone have this issue..? There is a bug that if I press arrow keys (left and right) rapidly or else, it will always trigger options panel from media control panel. Normally it wouldn't happen, after I disable this extension then it was fixed.

Encountered an issue where arrow keys cause the settings menu to appear, came here to see if anyone else got it and found the dev replied to a comment with a github issue (and that showed a fix was pushed 30 minutes from when I discovered it) Great extension and the dev is actively fixing any issues that arise as a result of YouTube's shenanigans!

I forgot I had the extension until I used a browser without it. It has been seamless and so useful.

Worked easily the first time. Just refreshed after installing and immediately went to highest setting.

Its no more working. Probably YouTube is no more allowing these action. I tired every way possible with this extension. But just did not work, and all new YouTube vids are opening with Auto(480p)

Fixes the automatic lowering of quality that youtube is fixed on. Great. Now I can decide which quality I play videos with.

Very generic and much useful. Annotations auto off toggle will also be very preferred.

It does work. And also the permissions are limited to youtube domain that is always a good sign.

I'm using Chrome 92.0.4515.159 and this doesn't work. The video still loads at HD (auto) and has to be changed manually.

It does what it's supposed to do, thumbs up. However, in my case it disables the menu, that, is SHARE, SAVE, THANKS, etc.

size reversing due to extension not turned on. By turning it on will work just fine .

It causes Youtube's HD settings window to pop up every time a video starts, every time a video is rewound, & every time I try to fast forward, as it it won't fast forward & hitting the arrow keys effect the HD setting menu instead of the video time bar. Tried uninstalling & reinstalling, but had the same problems.

Work flawlessly

I really want to like this extension. Apparently YouTube is throttling video quality to the lowest setting to combat stress on its servers until you manually change the quality. This extension sets the correct quality when the video first loads but after a while the page flashes and the quality is set lower and lower. Happy to help debug it if I can.

Hey, this has been a huge help to me thank you for the hard work you put into it. I just wanted to give you a heads up with the latest update there seems to be a bug where the resolution window repeatedly pops up. it seems to happen most when i am trying to rewind or loading a new tab. Still giving you a five star because this is the only issue I've ever had and as the update is only a day old im sure it will get fixed soon.

The plugin works most of the time but seems to be updated for new YouTube layouts before Google rolls them out in my region so it often breaks for a few days.
