Nu uh! Horrible. I grant the permission and it looks at me and does nothing. Rubish.

It doesn't even give me notifs or lights up when my friends text me!! It's useless!!

ok so i got a notification tht showed something weird.

Doesn't work on the standalone Hangouts Chrome extension on macOS.

Notifications are only shown if the Chrome window in which the Hangouts tab lives is in the foreground.

The Hangouts Chrome extension does not run in the system tray (this has only been the case once on a work computer). You shouldn't have to keep Hangouts open in order to receive Hangouts notifications. This is very inconvenient since I'm not always logged into Google Chrome.

Hangouts is good for messaging to friends but unlike Facebook Messenger it lacks one feature that we can't erase the message once we send. Sometimes mistakenly we type wrong words and send. In this case again we have to type to correct. Further, we can't see one step previous message, this also if Google avoids, that would be much better.

It's a great help with texting, calling and the occasional video calls. So that way you can simply ignore your phone and still stay focused with whatever business you have on your computer (if your a Google Chrome or Firefox user), while still being able to keep in contact. It's basically Google's version of what a MAC computer can do with syncing your Apple ID from your iPhone to your MAC, only Google's "Hangouts" syncs between the Hangouts' user's account on their phone and their computer. Apple has already done this but in such a bigger way with the MAC, and not with it just being a single app only for texting, calling and video calls. But what Google has done though is given us the consumer a less expensive version of this option, so for those of us who want the convenience that syncing your iPhone to a MAC gives without exchange for an empty wallet. Download Google's Hangouts Today, for the maybe not so great, but still cheaper and in the end better option!

I used to love it , but now , it no longer rings any more on my desk top! I'm so sad!

I love this app so much it makes talking to my friends so easy. All my friends and family love this app as well so I really recommend this to people.

This app does absolutely nothing so far as I can tell. It's "claim to fame" is that it will allow you to set notifications to STAY on your screen. It doesn't do any such thing. I can open hangouts myself, which is one thing it can do but so what?? Removing.

I prefer hangouts over all other chat apps. Thank you for making this, as it as it allows me to watch for messages while working at my desk all day. It works very well.

I feel this extension is great! Considering that this isn't part of google, this is probably the best notification system for hangouts that you will find.

The extension is great except for one, big factor: I don't have the option to block what was sent in the message on the pop-up... That is a really important feature to have, especially if I get notifications during meetings - I don't want the room to know that my girlfriend needs me to stop off at the store...

Finally! I've been struggling with this for a long time. I really don't like the separate Google Hangout extension from Google since its notification doesn't always work, however the regular hangout web app doesn't display notification (come on Google!) This extension has beautifully solved the issue. Now I never miss any notifications when using Gmail, Inbox or Hangout app. Shout out to the dev who built this and good luck!

all the notifications popped up and i clicked on them and they let me type back. this is a awesome way to talk to your friends while you are not using the hangouts application in any google tab and thats why i gave this app a 5/5

Didn't work I heard a ping but when I looked I had no new messeges!

Stopped providing sound notifications despite settings requiring sound

No notifications for voice calls. Uninstalled.

Sorry, last time I gave bad review for it but that was my mistake. I realized it is working fine for some time but now it does not pop up notification for each message also it does not give any sound notification.

Google's Hangouts which is currently replacing GTalk in Gmail web client should have this. Fortunately, this extension comes to the rescue.

I saw a couple of notifications successfully appear, but then no matter what combination of minimised gmail/hangouts windows/tabs - I just couldn't get it to work.

You rock dude! So much more convenient that the AWFUL official hangouts extension/app which leaves notifications open forever.

Seems to work! I can now replace the official Hangouts Chrome app with an Inbox or Hangouts tab plus this extension. A few minor features I think would be nice: 1. Dedupe notifications. I get two for each message when I have Inbox and Hangouts tabs open at the same time. 2. A configurable expiration for notifications (e.g. 10s, 30s, 1m, never) 3. An option to hide message contents, i.e. just show the sender.
