Works perfectly. Does what it says it does. Perfect for web based company applications
works! finally same functionality as in Firefox for local Office-Files
Thank You!
Should be a built in feature for web browsers
does the job we need
Not sure if this opens folders within Local Explorer (if it does I can't figure out how to enable it), but right now it's just sending me to File Explorer.
Works on Android! On Kiwi browser.
i have installed this chrome extension to google portable. and am trying to move the exe file to the portable drive. but cant figure out how to edit the extension to point to say. E:\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\App\extension\ so i would put the exe in that folder and then aim the extension at the exes new location. how could i manage this?
ok this work (sort off) if you not going to use unicode charset then this vil work perfectly, however i need to open files with æøå in the names, and unless someone can tell how to makes this do that, then this is not for me, but the install was painless, nice job on that part :-)
Unicode!!! Need Unicode, please! (russian name files)
i don't like it because it is not easy to use
DUDE, YOU WON'T BELIEVE ME HOW MUCH THIS HELPED ME. MY FILE EXPLORER KEPT HANGING WHEN I SELECTED A FILE, NOW I CAN OPEN THE FILE! TY I was able to disable the file that caused file explorer problems :)
Awesome extension. Is there a way with client side javascript to detect if the extension is installed?
hbjyugghgtyg dumb bad app im on chrome os and you say it works on any computer well it DOSENT THIS IS BAD DELETE THIS.!!!!!!!!
I don't know if it works or not. The instructions omitted a lot of basic setup and usage details. Since I'm not a Chrome nerd, I couldn't even get close to making it work.
A great extension, hope it could support unicode characters in the future.
It somehow works, but I fail to see how it can be really useful. What I was hoping for was to be able to open files from a google spreadsheet (filenames are mentioned in the spreadsheet, path could be added easily), but could not get that to work. Adding the file path as a hyperlink won't do anything, even with adding "localexplorer:" before the rest of the path. If anybody has an idea on this, I would appreciate. So you can only open files from that localexplorer interface that you get to when you push the extension button? How would that be useful? Or am I missing something? I hope so. And also, even from there, I can't open a file that includes Chinese characters in the file name.
This really works. Thanks
We use IE as our browser for a intranet application, and depend on its correct use of the file:// link, to open files and folders on the shared network drives. IE is reaching EOL, and Edge ignores the file:// link. This breaks our business software. This Chrome extension works perfectly! Well done to the developers.
Oh this is sick! Exactly what I was looking for and it works great. Now I can put links like [My Markdown file]("C:\dir\dir\file.md") in www.dynalist.io and when clicked the file opens in its default app (VS Code for Markdown files on my system.) Thank you SO much, devs!
Perfect plugin to improve productivity
oh my its easy to do it w/out internet just use file explorer built in your os
Very good for me in the pc
Conceptually it is a good idea. Unfortunately, the installation of the Integration Module didn't work for me. I downloaded and installed the Integration Module on my Windows machine (Windows 10 Professional). "Installation complete..." but the configuration screen did not appear and no shortcuts were created. I found the executable in the x86 folder, but that did not load either. Additionally, the documentation for configuring the Integration module - the "one simple step" is in my opinion poorly written and has no functional help for this problem.
Does anyone know how to get it to work when the user is not an administrator on the computer?
Crazy constraints on Win file access at one client made this a no brain'er. Love it!
its very helful. Thanks
Oh - only for Windows Chrome users? - Bleh. Uninstalled.
done correctly
A little vague on the instructions, but in short 1. Add the extension, 2. Install the associated tool on your machine. 3. Click on a link and say open with that associated application. From there you are good to go. Seems to work well and really the only option I've found that works. Thank you!
this is malware. the code hijacks your clicks to ad pages so the cun- can make money
Doesn't work on chrome os, so why is it in the chrome store?
Works Great, but I would like a way to search for file names. If there is let me know.
COOL.
How to pass arguments to links? i want to pass parameters to .exe file like we do in cmd Example: "localexplorer: C: /test/file.exe Arg1 Arg2" Can anyone help out in this.
No Linux support
Is malware, installed itself somehow and now I cannot uninstall it.
very difficult to use. did not do what it advertised.
не работает.
it is stupid
Allows windows chrome users to open local/network folders from a URL. IE has always been able to do this, Chrome used to be able to.. but stopped years ago (due to security?). This extension has finally allowed me to use chrome again for work.
Doesn't work on chromebook
Installed easily and it works. One star off because I would like some way of limiting the extension so that it changes links from file:/// to localexplorer: only on web pages from certain domains/urls which would provide an extra layer of security.
great
worked perfect for me
Now this is a useful extension
Finally, it does exactly what it needs. Thank you guys
easy to use
Completely useless, just drag and drop your directory into your browser instead.
liked
Not compatible with Chrome OS
Provided exactly what was needed.
Didn't work. Install instructions confusing. Where do I find my downloads folder??? worthless.
I wanted an extension that would allow me to open files in the default program This extension allowed me to do this. The program is bug free and installed easily. It is also easy to configure
how do i check file exist or not in local explorer
Works perfectly to open file links on network drives.
Apparently does not work on Windows 10
All I got was an extension and a zip file and lots of frustration.
Does not work on Chrome OS.
Install took me to a link that said something about Windows. R U Kidding?? THERE'S NO WINDOWS ON THIS SHIP.
Its not compatible with the CHROMEBOOK
Just what we needed to get to local sources on our intranet, just like firefox and IE let you do.
Does exactly what is says it will. This "security feature" that Google forced upon us had drastically cut my productivity. I understand the ramifications of allowing local files, so let ME make the choice. /rant Anyway, thank you to vpnprodev for providing a fairly simple, "set it and forget it" solution. Files now open in native desktop apps (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.) As an aside, if you are trying to attach local files/folders to notes in productivity web apps such as the amazing IQTELL app, you will need to append "localexplorer" to the beginning of the file link in place of file:/// For example: localexplorer:X:\[FolderName] or localexplorer:X:\[FolderName]\[FileName] Then you can click from right within that webapp and the file or folder will open locally.
No sirve para nada por desgracia.
Does not work on chromebook. Why have in the app store if you don't work on the entire platform?
can't find it
Worthless rubbish! It doesn't do anything but download a zipped file! What am I supposed to do with that?
Instructions are far too vague. Needs clarity or is totally useless.
Not a linux compatble ext, but no warning in intro that it does not work properly or at all. Just thought I'd have a look.
Superb
The ads it shows makes Chrome virtually unusable.
It's the best file manager extension on browser. The only one that works. Give it a try!
Does it work with Chrome OS? Chromebooks?
I installed this so I could do my job properly with Chrome. While the extension was good to start, it began installing adware on my PC and essentially made Chrome worthless. The devs need to decide whether ads or users are more important, because annoying ads scare away users.
When I first found this extension last year, it WAS amazing. Simple, straight-forward, and did exactly as it was supposed to. At some point, and I'm sure there are reviews that can corroborate when, there was an update that resulted in the injection of adware. There was much outrage and the ads went away. The ordeal was explained away as a "test" if I recall correctly. For several months now, the adware (powered by VPNApps) has returned and it has absolutely tarnished the usefulness of this extension. Clearly, monetizing at any cost has outweighed the common sense utility of something otherwise amazing. Also, the numerous verbatim spam reviews touting the awesomeness of this extension is just sad. Sad. Sad. Sad.
App does exactly what I says. Still, almost tempted to give it a single star because it also default to serving up spectacularly misleading ads (of the "you're infected, call us immediately to help you cleanup" blatant lie sort) occasionally. At least you can disable the ads in the options screen painlessly.
This extension is really useful, but it contains adware. While it is installed, after a while I start getting ads inserted into browsing sessions labeled "Ads by VNPApps". They stop as soon as I remove the extension. Please remove the adware!!! I will have to stop using this extension if the ads persist.
Bullshit! this extension does nothing but serve ads from vpnapps and rightcoupon. It's a browser hijacker. once I disabled it from extensions chrome is back to normal. fake comments below.
Does what it says, but had to install companion app
Doesn't seem compatible with Google OS
BUGGY
Excellent!! Works fast & good. Thank you programmers!
HEY GUYS listen to me look in the reviews there is a team of people copying and pasting the same review and giving it 5 stars DO NOT DOWNLOAD this is a VIRUS IT WILL CAUSE MASS AMOUNT OF ADS IF YOU ALREADY DOWNLOADED IT go to chrome://extensions/ to delete it
Can't open.avi video files with this - can open all other formats - .avi files keep downloading rather than opening? No user support
The plugin itself is great. Have shared file system links through a web-based task tracker within an office team. However, ever since I have installed this plugin (and a few other team members) we have started seeing adware popups on e-commerce sites. Malwarebytes does not find an infected file, however it blocks the connection from Chrome. Ads show up as ADs4u, and the server being blocked is pstatic.eshopcomp.com. Removing the plugin has stopped the ads so far.
Today the extension began injecting floating iframes with dealply ads. While this extension is certainly useful this behavior is a no-go. I have tested it multiple times. If I disable the extension the ads disappear, if I enable it they pop up again. (There is no send feedback button contrary to the description and the website is mostly empty. I did not write an email and instead this review so that others may quickly verify that this behavior comes from this extension.)
Works extremely well. Make sure you read the instructions on how to install BOTH components and review all your options. Great extension!
Great one. We've been using it with a FileServer and share the media for all Active Directory users. The developer support email was at [email protected], once we got a problem and reported it. Then he uploaded a bugfix for it in a day or so. Awesome!!
WHY is it letting popups and hijacks? Worked great for a long time, now when it's enabled I'm constantly spammed.
This extension injects ads into your browser. You may think you have a virus/malware infection but it's just this extension.
It is injecting ADs to all webpages.
I found that this triggered Right Coupon ads in my browser. I hadn't clicked the option for this and it would only go away by removing this extension.
I found it useful until I discovered that disabling this extension removed all unexpected intrusive ads on some pages ...
Wonderful!! Loved it so much. Many thanks to the dev team.
REALLY GREAT APP PLEASE TAKE AWAY THE ADDS. That really brings down your credibility as an app developer. I know you can opt out but I have a bunch of people who are very upset with me over recommending your app and now getting add spammed.
AMAZING! makes my life super easy. Bless you!!
Injecting ads onto images that must be closed before the image can be viewed correctly. Doesn't do this immediate, but delayed after a set period of time. The producer says there is an Opt-out feature, however there is no Opt-out option. http://puu.sh/lD9KR/8271a2e59e.png http://imgur.com/AP7w7m8 Image links for proof.
I can't use it on my Mac...
有幫助 this is the best one on chrome webstore!
It works perfectly!
It is working as expected. It would be better to map out several shortcuts acessible via left click to a small list/menu of 'bookmarks' either recent folder acccess/ manual bookmarks.
Loved it until it started injecting ads ... What a shame.
It was great until they added ads to so text on every web page I visit turns into a pop-up on hover. It's barely worth the annoyance now.
Worked fine until it started inserting ads in random web pages.
superb - the best one can find on chrome webstore
