Makes reading on Wikipedia so much easier, design is so good, awesome extension overall
Not working in Opera 97.0.4719.28. When you click on a Wikipedia link it goes straight to Wikipedia
Loved it!
Why do you lie I can revert back from version 2 to version one?
I usually don't leave reviews on extensions, but this one's a great exception. This has significantly levitated my Wikipedia experience, from a great dark mode, to its brilliant customisability and clean UI that keeps the content front and center. GREAT TOOL
I usually don't leave reviews on extensions, but this one's a great exception. This has significantly levitated my Wikipedia experience, from a great dark mode, to its brillent customisability and clean UI that keeps the content front and center. The UI refresh just makes the best even better, and I'd even say I enjoy reading Wikipedia much more and even as entertainment with the addition of this amazing extension. I'd give it 10/5 stars if i could xD
Since when does this have ads? What the heck?!?! Uninstall this immediately. Goodbye forever. Was a great extension until ADS!
Actually makes reading wikipedia easy and understandable Loved it.
A low IQ, hierarchical, heavily censored CJ, now with you as an extension, to monitor your data. Cool!
Thankyou Team. You've brought so much joy into my first step of learning! Keep it Up! Hats off.
What an amazing extension.. sets an example to other extensions ?
You are absolutely awesome.
I can't believe that the BIGGEST INFORMATION SITE has such an outrageous UI !!
Intrusive permission to read data on all websites. I understand that is because of the click & popup definition feature but there needs to be an option to opt out/in for such permissions
Love the new version, especially the warm theme!
Simply amazing.
Great extension for wiki.
Where is Categories in every wikipedia pages?? It is very important.
fresh look for wikipedia content
The latest version isn't appearing on Microseft Edge, only on Google Chrome
Excellent! Thank you!
It is great! Wikipedia could not be enjoyable that much!
A Must Have extension. New design is really sleek, minimal and functional. A huge thanks to all the devs who are working on this.
Love it!
Amazing!
Edit: Updated the review. Love the new design!
Old design was much better. Please give us the old layout option.
Great extension now ruined by a strange and unneeded design change. Please add the option to reverse this. Uninstalling until then.
I'm still going to give 5 stars because of the features, but I really do not like the recent design change. Please allow us to change it back.
How am I supposed to change the alphabet in wikipedias with multiple writing systems? For example the uzbek, tatar, kurdish, chinese, serbian wikipedia?
What happened to the old design?? Is there anyway to revert back? The original is muuuccchhh better and you should allow people to choose.
Love it, after newest update though, it keeps prompting me to install the extension even if it's already installed.
Would have been really great if it hadn't changed the URL from wikipedia to wikiwand. It lessens the credibility of the article if you were to share what you are reading... Most people do not know that it is still wikipedia. I don't want to manually select "read with the old format" and have a parameter ?oldformat=true in my url either. It looks super lame.
It just made Wikipedia beautiful.
After the recent update (it was really nice!) it's impossible to switch between Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The original Wiki provides multiple variants such as Mainland/Taiwan/Hong Kong/Malaysia/Singapore but Simp/Trad switch is essential. Please fix.
Wiki looking good! My kids want to read the Wiki again.
nice
Incredibly useful with many convenient features - so many that I don't notice I'm missing them until I switch to a browser that doesn't have it! Love that hover popup. Keeps me from having to open yet another tab. Really attractive to use and browse. Would like to see support for category pages, and a standard Wikipedia link-sharing option so it doesn't confuse non-Wikiwand users, though some of this may have changed since I last checked. I do have to say that Wikiwand has been uncharacteristically slow the past few days, taking indefinitely long to load pages, to the point that I've had to just disable it. Hope this is temporary, as it's never happened before. It's a great extension.
Amazing, I enjoy using a text to speech reader (built into Edge browser) and it would be really cool if I were able to remove citation notes, so the reader didn't get hung up on them. Perhaps an optional feature?
Really good extension that I love the look of but unfortunately has stopped working recently. One update would make this 5 starts straight away.
Amazing extension. Easy to use and customize.
Doesn't work. Just forwards me to a Wikiwand website that simply has the text "Listen to this article" and nothing else.
Looks awesome, but needs to access "all sites" and inserts a content script everywhere. :/
Very, very well done. For anyone who uses Wikipedia even infrequently this is a must-have!
Great functionality. A dark mode would make it perfect.
Wow...it's really good, yeap. Wikipedia looks amazing now. Thanks to the team!
Wikipedia is more awesome with this ext!
Lovely
greatest extension i've ever used CHEERS!
Excellent extension! I really, really appreciate the first good-looking Wikipedia dark mode this extension has. I would not object to recommend this to people I know. However one small suggestion I have is for when dark mode is toggled, the Wikiwand menu at the top of the page also turns black. Otherwise, this is a great extension.
This really should become the new standard for wikipedia. It's about time for wikipedia to go "next-gen"
Just amazing.
Loving it.
Some time ago, the sorting function on tables has stopped working.
Best extension I have, I use it almost everyday.
It's very cool
I love the presentation. I am so used to it that going back to the original wiki design is horrifying BUT please add the ability to save pages or an extra extension that manages saved articles. That would be worth paying for. Thank you!!
Very Helpful Extension!
I'm not a fan of the hovering tool tips that pop up for hyperlinks. I accidentally hover over them and get distracted while I'm reading. My biggest wish is for an extension that provides a way to fit articles into a thinner column in the middle of the page, much like the way Medium's articles are formatted. Thanks to the author for making Wikipeda easier to use for so many people.
Just added and the layout, looks very cool and it make Wikipedia much easier to use. The feature I like the most is being able to click on titles, on the side as they take you immediately to the part that you are looking for. :)
The primary problem with wikipedia is the enormous width of the lines. This extension solves it only partially. Numerous studies suggest that the optimal line length is around 50-60 characters (including spaces), which is definitely not the case for this extension. It is just strange when an app tries to solve something and then doesn't research how to do it.
I love this new look. Currently, I haven't been experiencing any problems with wikiwand extension (since my laptop is more than 10 years old and usually hangs by adding new stuff). simply, it's awesome! Also, the layout is very modern and useful (for the kinda blackish theme)
I really love it, sooo mouth better than the ugly Wikipedia
Will there ever be an option to enable multiple columns for text content?
Rating it only.
Working good. Sometime seems little annoying (not working) but at least a good step.
WHY AM I FINDING THIS ONLY NOW?!?! 10/10 SO many websites could benefit from modernisation like this. E.g. YouTube & Google.
It completely changes the layout of wikipedia and it makes it feel what the website should look like in its best version!
The pages on Wikiwand are simply phenomenal. Look at one and you'll never go back.
[!] Dangerous app. Way too strong permissions compared to what they need (just an auto-redirect for wikipedia.org links would be enough). Has high abuse potential: Development went dead in 2018 (no more response to user suggestions for years, Spam bots took over their platform) + founding CEO left in Jan 2019.
This is the best informative extension I have seen this far. The Ctrl + Click(left) option is the best thing that I have loved.
Awesome extension! Gives the modern UI finish to the most used website by students.
Given wiki's ad-free nature, I don't see how it's OK for the extension to start throwing ads onto the page.
What started as a thoughtful restyling of Wikipedia, turned out to be a nefarious plot to embed ads. Wikipedia has fought tooth and nail to make sure it never has to show ads, certainly not for this joker to be doing 1/100000th of the work and collecting financial rewards. AVOID!
Has someone run into the issue of the preferred languages cannot be saved? Every time I refreshed the page, my preferred language turned into English and French, regardless of how I set them before.
If wikipedia is blocked in your country, this extension is your go-to.
Simply beautiful!
It seems Wikiwand just started to display several ads in every article. Additionally it shows a popup asking to install the extension although it's obviously already installed.
One of the best extensions to Chrome to exist. Makes reading Wiki so much better, with increased clarity and customisation options. High quality product!
Doesn't show "Simple English" entries for 99% of articles, they've introduced advertisements into WIKIPEDIA which is just insane, and it now constantly bugs me to install the extension - despite... already having the extension installed. I've heard good things about the ZeroWiki extension so will be shifting over.
This extension is amazing! Wikipedia is so much easier to read and looks awesome too!
Was great until they added ads. All the pages are now littered with them. Its unbearable
It was great till they added ads; I generally am not bothered by the idea of having ads, but they over did it, especially as a start. Plus, the upgrade button doesn't actually work with me or at least has bad UX.
It was an amazing idea with a few bugs, but, Wikipedia is not a place for advertising. No advertising, please.
Horrible and ad-infested. Would be usable without the ads.
Amazing
LOVE IT
tonnes of irritating ads just see wiki in some fancy colors? No! SORRY!
Guys, come on. Same problems for more than 3 years. Your console logs slip to production every time. This is just unprofessional.
Have been using this extension for around 4 years without experiencing any issues that I can recall. I would include Wikiwand in a list of "must have" extensions for anyone reading Wikipedia on a Chrome browser.
Best User interface
Is there websites where "Ctrl+Click" work?
diplays wikipedia pages beautifully, even if wikipedia is blocked in your network.
I cannot expand the pictures, it's keep loading but not come out.
SEEMS.. AMAZING what i needed so badly is here. See clear defines with imagery any site. ANY TIME. DAA FREEDOM.. (2018 mar) \Now/: Uh the ctrl click feature to see wiki pages ain't working on any pages or even WIKIWAND wassup man? Ill try reinstall und see what goes on..
Is pretty good as a base but if you've got basic knowledge of CSS I'd REALLY recommend pairing it with Stylus or a similar CSS injection plugin so you can hide things like Wikiwand's Article Header Images (which are often poorly chosen), Hide irrelevant branding and button clutter in the header menu, and hide the giant inserted ads and over-stimulating imagery in the Discover More section.
Add the "Last edited" section please! Great extension, but please add the "Last edited on" section at the end like the real wiki so we can know how up-to-date the article is, thank you!
nice
Said an article didn't exist because I typed the person's name all lower case. When I used initial capitals, it found it. Wikipedia would find it regardless, and for a typo, would offer to search for the phrase within all articles - which at least lets you see that you make a mistake. This one thing is enough to make the website too cumbersome to bother with. Otherwise, nice idea, especially having a night mode. I'd like more themes to choose from but not enough to lose a star. Altogether, under three stars since I'm uninstalling, but a bit better than two.
cards-click.js (line 51) prints: "do not show on websites" on every website if i click anywhere. every website means every website, not jut wikiwand or wikipedia! this spams my console and really annoys me as a developer. wikiwand is nice, but this is a no-go. the point is: this issue has repeatedly been reported over the course of a substantive amount of years but has still not been addressed or has re-occurred several times and haseither not been fixed for many years or repeatedly reoccurred. the fix is simple: remove line 51. noone is harmed, it is just console output. i cannot understand why wikiwand does not deal with it. do they hate developers? i love wikiwand and their developers, but i really hate this bug, so i uninstall it – but giving them a notice so they might finally fix it.
Images won't pop up in Opera.
The service is great, however the text "Do not show on websites" thrown to the console is too annoying as a developer.
Great extension. Made Wikipedia more readable.
The Wikiwand extension does what it sets out to do, namely, make Wikipedia pages a lot more pleasing and also useable. Notice that you can also select 'read on Wikipedia' on any page you've opened in Wikiwand, which is useful if you want to create references to wikipedia articles (as I often do).
I love Wikiwand, but AGAIN, as developer It's annoying to see "do not show on websites" messages in the console. Could you remove or comment your console.log sentences in cards-click.js file please?
I have to remove it because in recent update, it just have useless console log in every webpage. And I can't find any option to disable it.(yes, is the file cards-click.js) I hope some guy can fix this issue, after that I'll reinstall the extension.
Nice.
It was okay but cannot display the main page. This is how wikipedia should actually look, why not suggest this to them?
Wikiwand is an amazing improvement over Wikipedia. However, this extension is poorly written. My console gets polluted with console logs related to its hovercard functionality. Please clean up your code before shipping to production!
Way better than original version.
Used it for a while but could never save bookmarks . Could not find any help on how to fix this. Used it on chrome , windows 10 , mostly for Wikipedia. I thought it could be useful but without bookmarks , didn't like it.
Awesome extension! "do not show on websites" is being thrown to console all the time. As a developer it's very annoying, disabling the extension until fixed.
Great product in terms of function! The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is that I find Wikiwand often fills my console with console.logs. I'm a developer and that's really been annoying while debugging my work. Would love to see that code minified and stripped of extraneous stuff!
wiktionary.org is sometimes linked from wikipedia. Is there any way to style all of the wiki pages the same?
There is a bug on image magnification when you press on the image it doesnt enlarge.
Nice extension
The permission issue is fixed
