Simple and very easy to use. A convenient extension that generates you a brand new password on your browser. Although it is missing some features like special characters. It is an excellent extension.

I like it, been using this for years. I wish you could exclude certain characters like 1,l and 0,O. A one click generate and copy option would be great.

I've been using this password generator for years and it's excellent. A reviewer on 22 Feb 2022 said "no special characters, no use" which is completely INCORRECT. I'm not sure how he overlooked the very clear "custom" option which is where you can enter any special characters of your choosing. You should utilize all characters above the numbers on your keyboard as well as add in the period. If you do this, create at least 16 character passwords, DO NOT keep history and utilize a password manager you will be safe with your passwords. Great job to the developer for a simple tool that does exactly what is should and what's needed from users. To help others, between the double quotes are a listing of all special characters. Notice that right after the first quotation mark is a SPACE. Add these in the "custom" section and you're golden! " !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[\]^_`{|}~"

Would have given it a 5 if it just copied the password it generated to my clipboard when I click on the icon in Chrome. Bit of a pain to have to open it every time and generate and copy the password.

I found some bug -> '&' char is copied as "&" instead of the char when I click on copy password. Verify -> select only custom, add '&', select length 1, click generate and click copy and paste it somewhere.

Great extension. An option to start with a letter would make it perfect.

Used to love it. Doesn't work properly anymore. When I click generate.. Nothing happens. Will change back to 5 stars if this is fixed.

Should add more characters in the 'custom' field - like: ~!@#$%^&*

Works pretty good but there is a bug concerning & characters. When you copy a generated password that has an & sign it will actually copy & in place of every single &.

Thank you so much for adding this, I do have to admit that sometimes I do have struggles when coming up with passwords because I use so many! Now that I have this add-on, I won't have to worry about coming up with a password of my own, thanks!

If you specify for the password to have special characters or uppercase/lowercase letters you would have to click a few times until getting a password with that specification. I would expect that it would always include those characters if I checked them.. If you click off the extension you lose the password too

It's not as pretty as it could be, but it's the best one in the Chrome store.

If you add the greater and smaller than signs > < in the custom field the password length varies. Injection?

Would be 5 stars if it generated the number of characters as set. I'll set it to the website max characters and get a message that its over that limit.

Its simple and useful. However, it's using Math.random functions which are not cryptographically secure. The PassGen extension is a better alternative if you care about password entropy.

Christian Stuart June 18th, 2015
Christian Stuart

Although it's probably better than normal passwords, this uses the Math.random function, which, in the best case, has an entropy of only 32 bits, and is very predictable.

Only two-clicks from a secure, unique password! I love this perfect companion to my RoboForm Everywhere (yes, RF generates passwords but is not too friendly on Linux systems) extension.

Wish it had XKCD password styles button. Sometimes I need strong but memorable. Like toothgingermuffler

Nearly Perfect. If they add a character exclusion option, like the custom add, I'd say Totally Perfect. Still, I give it 5 stars for the simple clean tool they have created. Especially appreciate the History inclusion for those times when you have an "Oops" moment.

Great and useful extension. The only problem, not really a problem but annoyance is that when you click "copy to clipboard" button it copies with "\n" at the end. Just removing that and may be adding list of exception characters (I'd like to exclude 0,O,l,1 and such)to the settings would make it perfect

Colin Rice November 27th, 2012

Very nice. Three things, though: 1: option to make the first character always be a letter. 2: when the extension is activated, automatically generate a password according to the saved settings. and 3: when a password is generated, option to automatically place it in the clipboard without clicking the copy button.

Great app, but make sure the generated password has all of the attributes (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, etc) that you requested- if not, just generate another!

Joel Mellon September 13th, 2012

It has a simple interface which is nice, and the custom characters field is genius, but there's no option to use at least one of each type of character. What this means is that it doesn't always work for sites which require a number AND a lowercase letter AND a capital letter AND a symbol. With every option checked, it could randomly generate "abcdef" instead of something like "aB3$eFg". Although it doesn't happen all that often (maybe 1 in 20), it makes sense to include such functionality. Additionally, I just had it generate the password "ID" when I had it set to 12 characters. When I moused over the password the tooltip showed something to the effect of "ID345sdf@#$" but copying to clipboard just copied "ID". Thanks for all the hard work put into this extension, but it needs a little polishing.
