It makes saving references for school papers much easier.

This is the worst extension I have ever used. While I've un- and reinstalled numerous times, there always seems to be an issue whether it is saving all of my webpages and not being able to create an actual bibliography, or simply the time it takes to download or save anything. An absolute waste of time. I would never recommend to anyone, much less to a class of University students. Do not waste your time.

Very useful and great for organizing publications. However there is no option to save and cite websites!

I like this extension. But it seems I can't rename tags in the web version, while only the desktop version allows me to do it. Can you please update the extension so that I can rename the tags at once? Thank you!

An indispensable tool when researching something. However in the last update, I haven't been able to use the extension. It simple does not respond. It works great on Edge but on Brave it has stopped working entirely.

Works wonderfully in MS Word - a huge time saver for writing scientific papers. I've been using it for >5 years

Chrome extension version doesn't work. Doesn't do anything. Haven't tried the computer download version yet.

Downloaded the chrome extension and it doesnt even work with google docs. Useless.

This is really helpful when I can use it, but since the source code allows execution of source code, most institutions' cyber departments won't allow the extension on their computers. Super annoying.

Everything has been working well for me so far, it is so nice to be able to use the integrated Word function to add citations during thesis writing (rather than having to add things in EndNote separately) - and unlike Mendeley Reference Manager I don't have to go through my IT department to request login credentials!

I love this tool but i think there is a bug in the new update. its no longer recognizing articles in my web browser as articles it thinks everything is a website.

Doesn't work anymore with Zotero app. Everytime I use the connector to add a paper to Zotero, the Zotero app crashes. It's useless now. May as well switch to Mendeley

EDIT: So I think I was able to fix my prior issue (connector saving as a webpage instead of retrieving the PDF and not collecting metadata) by uninstalling and reinstalling the extension a 2nd time (it didn't fix it the 1st time I tried). It still has trouble sometimes (~30% of the time), and I have some frustrations with certain aspects of it and Zotero overall, but I think they're still comparatively better than Mendeley in terms of retrieving metadata.

I would love to see the logo show up as red on the extension.

It doesn't work. I try to insert a citation, and it simply says, "Zotero is updating your document, please wait" -- endlessly. And yes, the Windows Zotero app is indeed open.

Quite good

It is a catastrophe. Working on a google docs with multiple people and the number of times I had to relink all citations is crazy. And the procedure of relinking is so so slow. It was a mistake to go for Zotero.

Zotero is no longer showing the "save" option. What could have gone wrong? How to make it come back. I have Zotero downloaded onto my PC.

Used to love Zotero for writing my nursing school papers. It no longer saves PDFs apparently which is super annoying as lots of my sources are PDFs.

Really good for the most part and better than the reference manager plugin for Mendeley. It would be cool if: 1. Clicking on the Zotero Connector button on Chrome *opened Zotero* rather than returning an error message telling me that Zotero isn't open. 2. Sometimes when using this tool, a dialogue box opens offering me a single option of a reference. I then have to click the check box and click okay. This seems pointless! It would be better if Zotero Connector just automatically added the citation in cases where there is only one to 'choose' from.

The citation connector on Docs works horribly. It takes ages to insert an citation.

This could be very powerful, if it would work reliably. I am especially referring to the google docs integration. 1. Sometimes i have to reconnect my google account to zotero for every single citation. 2. I am having trouble getting over 100 citations to work in one doc. Is this a fixed limitation? I can't think of any reason for such a limit. 3. Adding a new citation is very slow. Sometimes taking up to 10 or 20 seconds until it appears in the document. I love Zotero, esp. the plugin for Chrome. Works 95% of the time compared to Endnote and mendeley which are a bit more hit and miss. Thanks guys!

Zotero extension extremely helpful for transferring citation information and pdf's of articles and book chapters into Zotero. Extension button will download full pdf automatically in some research databases (like JStor).

The zotero icon is not appearing on my microsoft word tabs. Any idea why?

It's black magic how good this is at getting both metadata and the full PDF of an article just from the information listing page of an online journal.

Hi Zotero Team， Zotero connector sometimes is unable to run successfully in Chrome on my mac. sometimes the extension reminds my desktop application is not running while i am sure my application is running correctly. or sometimes the extension directly breaks down, and reminds me that something wrong in Chrome extension in log document. these make me crazy, i nearly find the solutions all day, but it is useless.

Best reference tool ever !!!!! I love Zotero!!!!

I wanted an easy reference software that also had integration with Word, was free and Had an offline app. Zotero was the result of many searches. One of the benefits(I thought) was the chrome extension to save webpages, even just the snapshots and urls would be extremely useful to me. Alas the button only worked on library reference websites, and big name websites. I often have obscure and hard to find sources in my field of study, and the ability to save those webpages was non existant with Zotero. I followed all 14 steps in their "fix the button" page and still had no luck. I support the open software movement, but this needs more work to stand up to the kind of academic rigor that I would put it through. Ill try again in a few years.

Zotero is awesome and doesn't track your data like the other platforms. So many of the negative comments are just people who aren't very good with technology!

Hello! I'm an avid user of Zotero and of Zotero's chrome plugin, howeve I've found it often doesn't recognize key websites as magazine/ news sites. Recently I tried to save an article from "Time.com" and it only recognized it as a website. This also happened with NPR, SF Chronical and others. What can I do to fix this?

Easy and intuitive. I love Zotero! And this extension makes me researching seamless.

The connector stops working every couple days. It will work fine for a while, but then randomly stops recognizing journal articles or retrieving full-text PDFs when I navigate to a journal's website (that had previously worked fine). Upon uninstalling and reinstalling the extension, it works again. I have had to do this several times. Not a deal-breaker (mainly because there isn't a better option to use while writing my dissertation), but more than a minor annoyance.

DOES NOT WORK! The ONLY reason I had to download this annoying program was because my Professor loves it, so of course they want their students to use it. I've installed, fixed and messed with this program so many times. I GIVE UP!

Unable to download Zotero Connector

This is *amazing*! I have been downloading PDFs then dragging and dropping into Zotero for two years. Tonight I discovered this Chrome extension and got five papers downloaded right into my Zotero library in under five minutes! What a time-saver! Very accurate transfer of information, too. THANK YOU!

If everybody writing PhD theses had Zotero, they would save a lot on school loans! Sure wish I'd had it in grad school.

If you are writing a thesis or a journal article do not rely on this extension at all, not only it is lazy but very unreliable. Most of the time it has errors in capturing correct information. Enter the reference information to Zotero manually.

I can't access google scholar when I turn the extension on and choose on all sites

Don't bother downloading it. Zotero is excruciatingly slow to the point of useless. I know it's harsh, but it's what I experienced. FYI my document is only 20 pages long with 12 citations. When you first open zotero in your google docs or word, it will give a pop up message that zotero is "updating" your document. It took 15 minutes for it to load. It takes 5 minutes for a citation, and crashed when I attempted to add a bibliography. I tried again in words, and a similar chain of events occured. Honestly, I highly suggest you use the citation tools included in words for your referencing. Faster, more efficient, less of a headache that Zotero is.

Use it daily, it works (almost) perfectly, well beyond my expectations! A big thumb up to the Zotero team for the great job!

This has been a great tool with my academic work in the past and present.However,I recently came across an issue with a change that wasn't discussed anywhere .The save connector chrome extension will not work fully unless you are searching for articles via Google scholar.Lost a lot of time on that one !

I simply cannot get it to work in Chrome. endless 'connecting to your document messages'.

I am using Chrome Version 73.0.3683.75 Zoreto wants the page reloaded all the time and is not saving in subcollections only saves in the main library. Did I miss something?

This extension is powerful and useful. Be aware that it can cause Google Docs to print an extra blank page at the end of each document.

The addon worked alright for sometime saving the journal articles as journal articles. In the recent past, it is saving journal articles as web page! However , mozilla addon is working well.

Zotero no longer work with Safari... All my work is save in this app and now Safari does not support the connector, ughhh!

Useful but not comprehensive. However, considering the workload to make it 100% effective is massive, this app works great.

This connector is really helpful for referencing, but also for assembling a literature review, as it lets you build a library of references at the touch of a button.

Could have written my masters thesis without it!

Zotero is already a great reference manager program, but with this extension, everything just got simplier. I use it on a regular basis and I love it.

I recommend Zotero to my classmates on a regular basis.

Great addition for grad school

By far the best citation software available - updated very frequently by university students at Georgetown... or other locations. I just wish I could have this on my work computer.

cant get it to work in my office 365, as the zotero icon is not present there , very frustrating as i have a school assignment to complete, lecturer requires us to use zotero
